Funnily, the topic should properly read: "The basterdization of the English Language" You don't really have "instructers", you have instructors. "How much work is it?" is a contraction which acts as a bar to understanding. : It should properly be "How much more work is it? (people in glass houses... )

Macromedia Flash is the only Flash development program I would ever consider working with. Cheap, easy alternatives such as SWISH are ok for very basic, boring animations - but it is infinately slower than Flash, and produces jerky and unclean animations.

Word censoring has been put into place, so as to avoid some members being seriously offended by the use of extreme profanity. Some common offensive insults are also being filtered. If you have any problems or ideas about this, or can think of a suitable addition to the list of censored words, please feel free to contact me via private message.

Zpanel/cpanel What do u like
iGuest replied to football1232131405241471's topic in Websites and Web Designing
zPanel is almost like a diluted version of cPanel. It doesn't contain half of the features that cPanel has, and misses a lot of the important ones - subdomain creation, parked domain usage, email address assigning, etc. -
$string = str_reverse($string); Reversing a string isn't exactly difficult. I don't know what scripting language is being used for elgooG (as I haven't checked it out), but either way, a single function is usually all that is required.

The bithday script!! Quite handy accually
iGuest replied to websaint's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I have to tell you guys, think outside the square (computer) for the moment. How about a Birthday/Anniversary Reminder, by utilising this script the variations of being informed that this day is coming up or it's now! by SMS/Pager, Email, Fax etc can be achieved. Wouldn't that be good, incase you keep missing important dates, set it up for your whole family, relations etc and let them be surprised!Other than this, it shows you a few scripting basics and ideas.Programming is used to solve problems, so if this isn't going to solve your problem, it may solve someone elses, and remember, modifications are allowed so you could do what you like with the script.Cheers,MC -

If you can't persist till trap17s addon scripts are updated I recommend you register at Xisto, make at least 10 posts, request an account, and check out your new accounts cpanel. You will find all the updated addon scripts on Xisto Another few reasons why to register at Xisto: *Xisto has 4 processors whereas Xisto has 1, which makes Xisto faster and more stable. *Xisto allows you to get better hosting packages more quickly *Huge arcade and all the same features as Xisto (except army..yet) *Xisto needs better posters like you guys We would appreciate your membership at Xisto Admin would really appreciate your help to increase the quality of Xisto. Don't get me wrong I still love Xisto, but if you are looking for another or additonal hosting solution I suggest Xisto

Can We Host Our Own Downlaods? read inside for explanation
iGuest replied to Cypher's topic in Web Hosting Support
Yes, you are allowed to host downloads. We would prefer if u did not put music on your site. DO NOT HOST:*ILLEGAL DOWNLOADS*COPYRIGHTED MUSIC, GAMES, etc*ANYTHING ILLEGALPlease do not put masses of downloads on your site as your bandwidth affects this communities bandwidth. If you abuse you bandwidth you will probably be warned and possibly deleted, believe me we know who abuses our bandwidth! For game downloads I hope you are meaning uncopyrighted games or flash games, that is ok. But it is reccomende you don't host any flash games over 500kb.As for programs, just the same legality issues, no cracks or warez etc.Hope this helps, obviously since u have package 1 you won't be using your account to the abusement extent I am describing, but please monitor and adjust according to your bandwidth. Eg, remove links to downloads when you find you bandwidth creeping high. Hope this helps -
Mozilla Firefox 0.91 is good, but Firefox 10. Preview is better (https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/).....

They do exactly the same thing except produce different errors. require, means the file is actually required else if it's not there, you'll get an error and the script will stop. include, means it'll try to include that file, but if it's not there, it'll produce a warning instead but the script will continue to process. include_once, require_once exactly the same except for error/warning messages if file doesn't exist, as well as seeing if the file has already been used. It'll not include it again. Usually used inside functions, where you don't need to include that file again. e.g. you're including a configuration that sets variables and if you include it again, you would overwrite already defined variables which you don't want to happen. Check the PHP Manual for more information on these functions and others. Cheers, MC

Hey kokushta, Check out this page from our Howto's and Tutorials, it explains about how you can create and add favicons to your own site. For IE, it happens rarely but if someone bookmarks your site, their favourites will show your favicon, hopefully. Cheers, MC

Just explaining why /usr/lib/php or /usr/lib/php4 don't have the exif extension is PHP versions greater than 4.2.x, might be 4.3.x (sorry forgot) had to be added as an argument at compile time of PHP to have it built in. There's quite a few extensions that would require compile-time addition rather than just enabling it in php.ini php.d
-
Hey marijnnn, To get exif.so working, you need upload it to your current directory with the script that uses dl(); You can get exif.so from me here (right-click, save target as...), remember to set permissions of this file as 755. The test script I used to verify if it worked <?phpdl('exif.so');print_r(get_extension_funcs('exif'));?> Just prints out the available functions with this extension. Cheers, MC

What help are you offering? You are a bit brief on the matter. I am not from a Charity Organisation, but am interested in what idea you are proposing. Cheers, MC -

This site is great. I like it!

Sorry not my taste of music, it annoys me.Into heavier material.I'm in a band called Dieing Breed, lead guitarist, we don't settle for less unless it's classic/legend music or for a tribute. Other than that it's pretty much deaf defying. We try to reach our extremes, that is all. I care rarely for vocals, I'm more musically focused. If they had some talent, they would have gotten a better remark than not being tasty.Cheers,MC

In an FTP Program like FileZilla, log into your FTP, browse to folders or files you want to chmod and right-click on them and select File Attributes and just check all Read and Write and No Execute or type 666 inside the box. Cheers, MC

Web Browsers Which Browser type do u prefer?
iGuest replied to hast-webben's topic in Websites and Web Designing
To be honest, designers should go the extra mile to make it as compatible as they can and make it standard. Government sites must meet every requirement so why not all sites the same. The difference depends on proprietory aspects of the browser, if you can avoid using them then the only marginal difference will be seen in how it's displayed.Cheers,MC -
You can get exif.so yourself, using a Windows RPM extractor on the RPM. You will find that it might not get installed, so you'll probably have to do it yourself. Also, I knew this server was Unix/Linux based and I just suggested writing portable code, just incase you ever switched to Windows based using php_exif.dll. Cheers, MC
-
The only suggestion is write it portable and test if it's loaded:if(!extension_loaded('exif')){ if(strtoupper(substr(PHP_OS, 0, 3) == 'WIN')) dl('php_exif.dll'); else dl('exif.so');}but this will use the default extension directory, however read the PHP manual on the dl() functions, there's a lot of User contributes that solve this problem.Cheers,MC
