  1. Welcome Fuze and 3090, you will love it here. I just joined as well and this is an awesome community with very interesting and nice people. See you around.
  2. I have 3 cats.1 very old cat - Blondie2 2 year-old sisters - Timon and Pumbaa
  3. Ok, so I have a WBR-1310 D-Link router(wireless G router). I have a mac that is connected wirelessly with a B network card and I have a PC that is connected by a cable. The problem is, my PC keeps losing connection every 10 minutes or so for maybe 30 seconds. Is this because of the B connection interfering or do I just have a bad router? Thanks for the help.
  4. Very intreresting article. I think that Flash Drives will be used a lot more than EHDs just because a lot more people only need the 1-4gigs of space rather than 100+gigs. EHDs andflash drives are both very widely used and I think they will growmore and more as the technology advances and we can getmorespace for less. Another form of storage is the internet. Itis not widely used because it is very slow and tedious butI think it might be a major competitor if we can get it to upload as fast as uploading toa EHD or flash drive. The internet would be better too because you could share your files a lot more easily. Thanks for the article.
  5. Very very good fps. And its free! This is my second favorite fps(next to BF2142). Different classes, very well balanced, and you can rank up! (Ranks are reset every game). Probably one of the best free games out there. Everyone should try it out.
  6. Ooma has created a peer-to-peer phone service intended to eliminate long-distance costs. They do this by having Ooma devices in homes. When you make a long distance call, the ooma device sends your voice over the internet to the ooma device of the person you are calling. The call then connects to the local telephone line and tricks it into thinking its a local call. A genius idea. Very cool to see people are trying new things. The only down side is that the caller and the person that is being called both have to have this device. Ooma plans to charge $399 for each one of these devices. That means that you would have to spend over $400 in long distance calls for this to even be profitable. Yes, for a few people who keep in very close contact with long-distance friends or relatives, this would be nice for them. I don't see the majority of people buying this though. It's just too expensive. What are your thoughts? Edit: Full story here: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  7. Also, what about drivers for linux? I have heard that they are really annoying to track down. I have SLI and would want to use it on linux, is this possible? Is there a site to get all the drivers or do I have to fish them out individually? Sorry about all the questions, I just don't know much about linux and would like to know more before I try and use it.
  8. Hey, just signed up and this place seems pretty cool. I am 16(yes, i know. Im young) but have been interested in computers for quite a few years now. I have a little experience in both web design and graphic design and enjoy both a bunch.I have a question, though. I am not able to make replies or new topics in the "Internet" forums. I think I have to have a certain amount of credits before I can post but can anyone tell me how many I actually need? Thanks.
  9. My favorite sport is baseball. I find I'm alone with that in most online communities. But, I like it anyway.Favorite team: DodgersFavorite player: IchiroFavorite league: National
  10. My favorite band is Dispatch. They are a great indie band with a bunch of different sounding songs. They broke up a few years back but played a charity concert in New York for Zimbabwe just a couple of days ago. Too bad I live on the other side of the country
  11. Don't know if this has been mentioned before, but Songbird is a good media player that is still in development. Its only in the developer preview stage but looks to be very promising in the future. Check it out: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  12. Thank you, that is really helpful. But one question, what program can I use to defrag the drive? I'm guessing there is some open source stuff out there but I would have no idea what to be looking for. Thanks.
  13. I wanted free hosting and I used google. Looks like a great website with a great community.
  14. If you really did reformat, there should be no files left on your computer. Are you sure you reformatted and completely reinstalled windows? (all your files would be gone)
  15. Fight Club, Boondock Saints, Garden State, Pirates, Lord of the Rings.Fight Club, Boondock Saints, and Garden State are amazing. Lotr and Pirates are just awesome.
  16. Just boot from xp disk and reformat the Hard Drive and then reninstall windows. If you don't know how to do this, put in the windows xp disk and then restart your computer. Look for the message that says "press any key to boot from cd" and then press a key. You will then be brought to the windows installer where you can reformat(wipe) your hard drive and then install windows again. But as jlhaslip said, back up any data you might still want.
  17. I used the destop edition of 7.04 from ubuntu.com. Again, I'm pretty sure the problem was that I installed it on a separate hard drive than the main one. But now I'm too scared to try it again on a partition on my main hard drive.
  18. A month or so ago, I installed linux on secondary hard drive and it screwed up my computer. When I tried to boot up, it said there was a GRUB error and I couldn't go anywhere after that. Anyway, I fixed all that but I am still curious about uBuntu but I don't want to mess up my computer again. I think the problem was that I used more than 1 HD. Is there a sure way to not mess up my computer if I just make a partition on my master hard drive? Thanks.
  19. That is amazing. I can't wait until anything even remotely close to that becomes the standard. For todays technology, I think that the standard internet speed is pathetic. And yes, Alex you are right. The human race is extremely impatient but that does not mean we should not strive for improvements. I stumbled upon this article where a 75-year-old woman has the fastest home internet speed at 40gbps. Even half that would be awesome if it was the standard. The way technology is growing, I bet I will get my wish pretty soon.
  20. I'm going to have to go against everyone on this one. My friend has one and it is awesome. Some of the features are incredible complex and it even uses physics! For example, when scrolling through your music, it scrolls faster the faster you move your finger and it goes for longer as well. The only down side is the price. For a phone, the price is ridiculous. Apple has set a new standard for mobile devices and will surely start an onslaught of other phones like it. However, I think the iPhone will remain superior to the rest until new technology comes around.
  21. Very interesting idea but I agree with Saint Michael: way to many security issues. Good to see people are making an attempt and new things, though.
  22. I would say Battlefield 2142 is my favorite game right now. Awesome FPS. I also play World of Warcraft, though I am rapidly losing interest. Halo 2 is also a great game.
