I'd agree with that: number of posts means nothing: try more content!I've heard so many mixed reviews about Vista, and the majority of them tend to end up at the same end point: looks good, love the new interface, but you require newer hardware and some major upgrades to any systems that you want to upgrade with: also, as for being more secure and reliable than xp, it loses handsdown.I really do want to know whether I should bother upgrading at all... at the moment I'm considering for when Vista sp1 come out, but the fact that much of my software, and possibly my scanner and printer might suddenly stop being compatible with my os, leaves me wondering if I should EVER bother upgrading to vista.Alright, Vista my "rock", but in my opinion xp currently "rocks the hardest": give me a reason to believe otherwise...

WOW: has anyone seen all the new iPods, they are amazing, especially the iPod touch! Classic: same as the 5.5gen, except upto 160GB, slightly thinner, and not available in white http://www.apple.com/ipod/ Nano: shorter, and even thinner (6.5mm ~0.25 inches) but with higher res. screen, which allows movies http://www.apple.com/ipod-nano/ And the touch: looks amazing, and is basically an iPhone with wifi, but no calls... http://www.apple.com/ipod-touch/ (and new colors for the shuffle) And the iPod touch video just makes it look amazing: the only pity is the small size of the hard drive: but it is flash memory as opposed to hard drive, so at least it won't jump, and can use it for jogging etc. I think apple though are a little worried that it might cause a lack of popularity for the iPhone considering the price cut they gave it though...

At the moment, only the AW stats work, when you click update: the "Bandwidth" link still says I hav used none, but this may change if it is linked o the AW stats, I'll let you know if anything changesThanks for the feedback though, as you said, I can use AW stats, to check how much I am using, so I am not as worried as before

Yeah, xp is at the moment failry stable, though windows 2000 is still good: the only problem is that 2000 security support will run out soon (or already has, I can't remember) thus meaning it will not be as secure on the internet. As said as well, vista is still a little buggy, so it will be a little while before vista is good, and on top of this, xp is more effiecent at web browsing ( it uses alot less system resources for just running)

Currently my cpanel bandwidth is not counting anything! And while I am quite happy to keep this option... (unlimited bandwidth) I have a feeling that bandwidth IS getting registered somewhere, but I am not getting it recorded in my cpanel.I would be glad for any assistance, cheers

I own a Motorola L6, and I was wondering if there is a better way of transfering Java applications onto it...At the moment, the only way is to access the java application using the internet or WAP on your phone (which isn't free for me, in fact it is rather expensive) , and download it for the phone to recognise it: Motorola Phone Tools doesn't allow the transfer of java, only pictures and ringtones. You can't send them via Bluetooth, or access them normally via usbThe only other method (which I haven't tried) is using the Motorola development SDK, which may allow you to send stuff to phones so it can be tested, but whether it does, I'm unsureSo I was wondering, does anyone have a better method, either a freeware app, or hack or similar which allows the free (and easy) transfer of java applications to some Motorola phones? (including the L6 slvr)

Shawshank Redemption has got to be one of the most amazing films, especially when you see it the first time: the twist is brilliant, but also, considering there are no cgi graphics, or anything, so it is a good film just because of the film: not because of how much computer time it spent to make it!

Extremely interesting....especially as on a friend's computer, their firefox would stop access to all pages EXCEPT youtube...so suddely all the pages would time out, until you visited youtube (or a couple of other sites), at which point the internet connection would magically reappear: I get the feeling that there is more to that site then meets the eye....

There are very few good free download managers...the most important thing for me is one which allows auto-restarting, since my interent connection is not extremely reliable....Free Download Manager does this along with a couple of others, so that if your internet cuts out just after the 800th MB, you don't have to restart it all over agian which is useful....and yes, it does work even if you turn off your computer....

My system arrived witht this option DISABLED, so I doubt that setting it to 0 will have any adverses side-affects: I think rather it is better used for the opposite use, so if you are browsing a simple text forum or something and automatic updates is running, boost it up to 50% so that it actually downloads the same day, as opposed to you having to wait several hours after surfing for it to finish downloading...

Personally, I've never really liked the idea of adding extra functions which are not brilliant, into a program designed for something else: if you need an html editor, get an html editor!As for a notepad editor, I personally use the "editor" that is included with xplorer2, since it has lots of useful functions on its toolbar, including "goto line" and so on: all stuff that is useful for everyday notepad use, but I still use notepad occasionally

The main advantage at the moment for the docx is that it works similar to a website, i.e. when you put something in a file, it only refers to it: for example, a picture.If I copy and pasted a picture into an old .doc format word document, the picture was taken apart and stored as part of the file....at the same compression rating as a bitmap: to ensure no loss (Microsoft thinking: don't ask)As a result the files ended up VERY large and rather slow to load up.Also, (due to the recognition of this) the majority ofcontent wasn't stored in the file, only a link was made to it.Alot of people found this out, when they pasted a video into their word document, e-mailed it and the poor receiver got an empty space with "Could not find C:\Doc....\a.avi"With the new format (I believe - don't quote me ) if you paste a jpeg in, it will store the jpeg in the zipped docx, and then when viewed it will call upon the picture stored: a lot more efficient, and you can permanently attach media to a document.And the moral of this story?1. If you want to send video, don't put it in a Word/Powerpoint: that is just stupid2. If you really wanted to, you should have used Openoffice, who have been using the .xml format as an option for several years now!hmmmmmm....I could almost submit that as a tutorial....

Unfortunately the fantastico script is not running at the moment on cpanel, otherwise, the easiest way is to use the fantastico script... As for forums: what you do depends on how large a forum you want: e.g. for how many people is it meant for...20, 200, 2000.... some good ones (as can be seen in other posts) are invisionboard and phpbb, both of which are suitable for nearly any number of visitors (except for perhaps 10 or less in which case it is not worth the effort) Installation instructions for phpbb: https://www.phpbb.com/support/documents.php?mode=install The only bit which you will need to do is create a mysql database, with mysql database user....which isn't so hard. I'm sure if you need further help, there are plenty of people who could help on trap 17: for example just send a pm if you need my help!

Personally I use phpbb2 as it is really easy to setup, is fast loading and lots of mods to give extra funcionality...but then again I haven't really used any other forums so it is rather hard for me to decide. Phpbb3 is looking good but is obvioulsy still in beta, so loads of the good mods don't work with it yet...I think what you use depends on what host you have: if you only have limited mysql, then you have to be careful: phpbb2 couldn't host for more than 100 regualar people for a couple of months before exceding most hosts 10MB limit.....But if hosting with Xisto, I think anything goes!

Otherwise you could overclock a chip to run at 20 GHZ at home...at least for 2 seconds before it vaporised itself...

Some AMD processors have Intrustion Detection (IDS) and also the Advanced Anti-virus protection, often combined. Very simply it is a hardware version of a sandbox/virtual environment. So parts of a program are kept in ram and never written to hard-drive, which is quite cool. Also, when in ram they can be checked with anti-virus software, so unlike previously where when you were surfing on the internet, and a virus got downloaded to your computer's hard-drive and quite possibly ran before your anti-virus picked it up, instead it would be downloaded to ram, run seperately via a seperate part of the motherboard, in its own environment, checked for virii, and then copied to the HD if it was clean.One of the biggest problems of virii, is that it is virtually impossible to delete them: many antivirus software programs have to restart your computer every time they find one, and bootup as a seperate operating system, but by keping it in memory, it means you can keep running the computer even when a virus has been downloaded, and it will be deleted automatically when you restart your computer (as ram gets cleared)It is a good idea....eventually it will become standard in most processors, as hardware antivirus....but at the moment, it can't beat a good antivirus program.

As Crashcore if you can't be bothered with using profiles on firefox, the alternative method is to use portable firefox, since the settings are not stored in one place, but rather stored within the files independent of each other: this is (obviously) ideal if you want minimal fiddling: but probably not the most efficient method, since for every different file you want, you will need the full 30MB or so for every different set of options you want. Portable firefox can also be run inside wine, so meaning (if you wanted) to run it inside linux. However I agree profiles is probably the best option

There is no doubt that when this game was released it wasone of the best quality games you coud have at the time: even now it is still a good game by current standards and I have regulaly seen it pop up at the top of "best buy budget" games charts.A must buy for C&C fans if you haven't already got "First Decade", and for anyone who likes the gameplay of RTS more then the graphics, it really is an amazing game!

I've just got this game, alongside the expansion pack "forces of corruption" and I can say this is an awesome game, even if your aren't a massive star wars fan ( though if you hate star wars, I think stick with command and conquer)The space battles are spectacular, and just different enough from standard rts land battles to make them interesting! Similar in style to Rome: total war, with the idea of a larger map where you manage all your planets, and the smaller maps where you battle: the differences being that instead of turn based, rather you get days tick by over time (about once a couple of minutes on standard play time, though there is a fast forward button) and the seperate space/land battles are almost instantaneous on this time scale.As for the battles, they really are good: the ability to target certain spots on the capital ships is an interesting idea. The land battles can be fairly tiresome though, since if you don't get the exact balence of units, your entire army can be defeated by a couple of rocket bearing infantry, and the autoresolve is not to fair on this either....thankfully though, being star wars, there is the alternative option of just destroying the entire planet (and with the expansion, you can also use the death star in the space battles....scary!)Overall, I would say this is an awesome game for Star Wars enthusiasts, a great game for rts players looking for something a little bit different but with the same style gameplay as rome:total war, and a very good game for any other rts player.I love it, and having picked it up REALLY cheap second hand, I can recommend it very strongly!
