Hehe, yeah. Mathematicians are like Junior Programmers

Actually, 'x=x' would mean 'x becomes equal to itself.' a single equals is not a conditional operator, it's an assignement operator. The conditional is '=='

Well, there are several things you have to consider when starting a game. Before you even begin making a game, there are several things you need to know:What platform you will use. (Java, C++, RPG Maker XP etc.)Know the limitations of your platform.Who is your target audience. What is the average skill level of your team. (The game overall will only be as good as what the average of the team is)Is there anyone in the team with experience. (If so, you should always go to them for guidance)Once you have the answers to these questions, some of your other questions will have a bit more obvious answers. After that, I have made a tutorial that I still need to get up here eventually...

Free Mmorpg's Let us know of your favorite MMORPG.
DeM0nFiRe replied to barnes's topic in Computer Gaming
If you want some free MMO Games I'd reccomend ijji.com. They have alot of games that are good free alternatives to some popular commercial titles. For instance, if you want to play Matrix Online, they have GunZ: the Deul. If you want to play Counterstrike, they have Soldier Front. I'd definitely reccomend taking a look there. -
A thread needs to be inactive for alot longer before it's considered dead.Anyway, back on topic:I actually have tried out Eclipse. I never really got to do much with it though, because I tried to use it to make a LAN game to play with my brother. Unfortunately I found out you can't play the game on the same machine the server files are running.

Dem0nfire's Pokemon Starter Kit For use with RPG Maker XP
DeM0nFiRe replied to DeM0nFiRe's topic in Computer Gaming
Well, to the best of my knowledge, there are no perfectly working Pokemon Starter Kits for RPG Maker XP. I know one has been recently released, but I've heard it is not all that easy to use. I'm trying to make mine as easy as possible for everyone to use. -
Cartridges are a lot more expensive though, so there is that factor. I personally am a fan of the cartridge too, though.
-
Ha ha, sounds good man. You use RMXP too? It's a pretty handy little tool, isn't it?

BuffaloHELP, you are my hero! I made this post forever ago and I figured the idea got ignored forever. I've already made my longest Xisto post there ^^

DeM0nFiRe's Pokémon Starter Kit For use with RPG Maker XP Preface/ General Info: Way back when I first got RPG Maker XP, I was amazed at the things it let you do. You could create full games without any programming knowledge at all. As I continued to explore RPG Maker XP, I learned what all game developers must come to realize in time: really good games need programming. When I decided I wanted to make a Pokemon game, I soon became aware that there was simply no way to do it without some type of scripting. Several times I had thought I had found my luck: A Pokemon Starter Kit. Unfortunately, it turned out that these kits I had found were incomplete. I made a few feeble attempts at splicing the kits together, but it was to no avail. At long last, I decided I had to give my dreams of creating a pokemon game to rest. Several months later, I began exploring the wondrous thing that was RGSS. RGSS, a child of Ruby, is the scripting langauge for RPG Maker XP. As I began to learn RGSS, and with it all the basics of Object Oriented Programming, It began to dawn on me that this was what was needed to make that pokemon game. I set to work to create this Starter Kit to be my debut as a scripter. Since I started this project, I've made another debut into scripting, and have even moved on to full programming, however nothing I have completed has been attempted by as many people as this starter kit. Now I am working concurrently on this Starter Kit and also another game of equal ambition, and it is now a close race as to which one will be finished first. Features: Eerything you need to make a pokemon game using RPG Maker XP Including, but not limited to: -Pokemon Battle System -Pokemon Menu System -Pokemon PC System -Pokemon Electronic Assistant System -Pokemon Party System -Pokemon Catching System -Pokemon Breeding System -Pokemon Music from R/S/E Included -Pokemon Graphics from R/S/E Included -Graphical Data Editors for Ease of Use Frequently Asked Questions: Q. Can you please give me the pokemon scripts? A. As soon as I have them finished and tested, everyone will get them at the same time. Q. Can you help me with my pokmeon game? A. Well, why don't we wait on that. Without the scripts you can't make one anyways, and I won't give anyone any of teh scripts until they are all done. Perhaps after the kit is finished if you need help with it or extra systems I can help. Q. Do you have a demo for us? A. Because it has been taking me longer than I originally said, I will prepare a public tech demo when the Battle System is complete. After that, all testing will be closed beta only. Q. Can I be a closed beta tester? A. No, for the most part all of my beta testers are chosen. If I notice you being particularly active and supporting I may, however, ask you to be a tester. Q. When will you finish? A. I'm not going to stick my footin my mouth anymore by giving a deadline I can't meet. I have alot going on right now, so this will take quite a while to complete. Think of it this way, if you're active in the threads you'll be the first to know when it is finished. Q. How much have you got done so far? A. I wil let you guys know whenever I have an update. Becuase I have to change things around alot, I can't give a percentage so please do not ask for one.

Heh, one of the most thruough introductions I've seen! :)Welcome to Xisto. I'd offer to help you out, but it looks like you've already started helping me!

Mm'possibly. At the moment though, everyone in our site just skips through the front page anyway and they just go directly to the forum. I'm going to work on coding in PHP, Javascript, and SQL a set of intergrated scripts for chat, news and things like that. I'd do the forums too, but no one wants to lose our posts

Yeah, I'm definitely going to have to re-do it. I'm going to make it more eye appealing and more fonctional. In a couple weeks probably I'll have the new one done. I can't work on it right away because I have alot of other stuff to work on.

The Best Ever Trpg! Is It New? What do you think is the best?
DeM0nFiRe replied to DeM0nFiRe's topic in Computer Gaming
The first couple Civilazation titles are released as abaondonware now, aren't they? If so, maybe I can check them out that way ^^. If I recall, the newest Civilization is pretty far up there as far as price goes, so I think in that case I'd stick to Rise of Nations or Ages of Empires I.Anyway, getting back on topic: Another great TRPG is Fire Emblem. I've played a couple of them so far, and my favorite of the one's I have played is definitely Fire Emblem 7 The Blazing Sword for Game Boy Advance. -
Personally, I like Track and Field, and Cross Country. I actually just had a race this past saturday, District Championship. I ran 18:03 on a 2.9 mile course.

Hello Everyone, I was wondering who of you has bought the new Zelda game for DS. If you have it, why not post what you think of it? Here's what I think:The game is definitely a good transfer to the new system and features of the DS. The puzzles are definitely impacted in a positive way by the touch screen feature of the DS. While the microphone is only used for a few small puzzles here and there, it's still pretty fun to yell at your game every now and then and actually get something for it. I admit, I was skeptical when I found out that you had to move with the touch screen, but after playing it I can definitely say that it's hard to tell that you haven't been moving Link this way since the beggining, for how intuitive the control scheme is. All in all, this new Zelda game is definitely more than a cheap title to push the DS with clumsy use of the touch screen, it is a true DS title.
