I've asked people I know at other schools around here. One of my friends says that there are probably at least fifteen knives and 20 grams of marijuana on school grounds at any given time. He also said that you don't have to worry about someone pulling out a gun, because there will always be 3 other people with bigger guns to stop the first person
-
I mean there aren't really any people that you'd be afraid to look in the eyes. Like, people who go out and smoke pot every day and would pull a gun on you if you looked at them funny. Kind of hard to explain, but I guess if you ever see a random shooting in the news, they're the kind of people that might do that. We don't have anyone like that at all.

Have To Be Leaving For Bird Flue about the credits
beeseven replied to guangdian's topic in Health & Fitness
Wait, why would a virus outbreak cause you to leave the internet? It'd be a great source for news and other things.Anyway, I don't think that the bird flu is going to be that bad. They said that SARS would be a pandemic and then forgot about it a month later. No real reason to worry about this. -
The Saddest Article I Ever Read ! A good article for guys
beeseven replied to nehemiah's topic in Dating And Relationships
I don't have time to read it all right now, but I'd like to point out that this is not always true: Do NOT tell a girl that you love her unless you've been going out for a very long time or she says it first. -
For those who don't know, cliques are basically groups of people that hang around together. It can be a small group of friends or a whole social group. Most stereotypical high schools have the nerds, punks, preps, ghetto, goths, emos/skaters, losers, etc., but are most high schools very stereotypical? I wouldn't really know since I go to a magnet high school for nerds, so the social classes are kind of blurred together. The nerds are friends with the preps, few people are considered losers, there's no ghetto, and we only had one goth for about a week. Also, everyone considers themselves somwhat nerdy. So what are your schools like? Strict social ladder? No real defined groups?

Internet Dating :) Is it yours by internet?
beeseven replied to nehemiah's topic in Dating And Relationships
I'd have to agree that "falling in love" over the internet is not the smartest thing to do. I saw a quote once that was something like Obviously this can't be taken literally, but wherever you go there's a good chance that whoever you're talking to isn't who you think it is. Also, two of the most important things for communication are inflection and body language, and you just can't get those online. It's much easier to lie to someone, too. You just don't get a lot of the things over the internet that you get talking to someone in person. -
Yep, you can use it. Just get the proper DTD and follow all the rules.

I'm not sure of the exact differences, but I think that 1.1 is still in a testing phase since there aren't different kinds of it. Probably not much noticeable changed since 1.0.

Asking Someone To Homecoming Only for U.S. kids in High School?
beeseven replied to beeseven's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, if you ask in public with lots of people watching it's almost impossible to be rejected. -
Looks like Penny Arcade has covered a little more of this story. Read "Yack Thompson" and "You Lose." https://www.penny-arcade.com/news.php?date=2005-10-17%232833

Asking Someone To Homecoming Only for U.S. kids in High School?
beeseven replied to beeseven's topic in General Discussion
Don't get me started on what the seniors do with prom... -
Everyone that I know that's corresponded with him has gotten similar replies. If you send him a well thought-out and intelligent e-mail, he'll respond with something like "stop threatening me or i'll sue." There's a lot more about how weird he is at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Thompson_(attorney).

If you hadn't heard, Jack Thompson recently offered $10,000 to charity if someone made a game based on a story that he made up (http://gc.advancedmn.com/article.php?artid=5883 - read this first if you haven't already [possibly offensive for violence]). Well, apparently somebody has made his game! Link: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Pay close attention to the dialog and the text on the action button (also violent). Put this everywhere you can, because one of the terms was that it has to be distributed.

Asking Someone To Homecoming Only for U.S. kids in High School?
beeseven replied to beeseven's topic in General Discussion
Guess I was right that we get into it most. I was talking with some other people at my school and they say everyone they've talked to at other schools doesn't do much either. One person I know left a rose in each of this girl's classes, then at the end of the day he gave her another few and asked her in front of everyone. I left half a dozen on the desk of the girl I asked in first period with an anonymous note with some of the lyrics to The Beach Boys' "Darlin'" (below), then later I gave her the other half and asked her. Maybe we do such extravagant things because we're all nerds (Science & Tech magnet school) and we wouldn't be able to get dates any other way. -
Don't know if other countries have Homecoming, but basically it's when some alumni come back to the school to visit and there's a big football (American football) game and a dance and etc. In my school, everybody asks with flowers, makes some gigantic sign, hides clues as to who's asking, or something else rather ornate. It's a big deal at my school but at others around here I've noticed that nobody really gets into it (especially the asking). It's more like whereas where I go it's something like So what homecoming like in all of your schools? Notice from Rejected: Added the sentence for you

Haha I owned God. Some things I don't think I should post here, so I'll put "*****" instead.

Strange Thing I Saw Anyone know what it could be?
beeseven replied to FuChelle's topic in General Discussion
I'd agree with (most of) the others that it was just a trick of something, but I'd like to offer another explanation or two.First, physical stimulation to the eye is generally perceived as light. If you were rubbing your eyes or got something in one then you would have seen it as a ball of light, most likely. Second, it's possible that you were already partially asleep. As you're falling asleep images begin to swirl around your mind and the first ones to come are usually simple light forms. As for your heart skipping a beat, it's entirely possible that it was just natural fear caused by this weird thing swirling around.Kitty, your story is just an example of how strong the human mind can be. Your unconciousness really took in the movie you saw, which caused it to make you think that it was real. Since your unconciousness controls a lot of your body, it's no surprise that it made you feel like there really was something in your ear. -
No Right Click - Javascript No Right Clicking Script
beeseven replied to KoYoda's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Blocking right click is completely pointless. For one thing, it doesn't work in good browsers, and second, it's very easy to do anything that you'd get from right clicking by going to the menubar or using a keystroke. -
My friend made a version of MSPaint in Java for a project in our Computer Science class, but couldn't make a filler because we determined that there was no plausible way to determine a pixel's color. That, the fact that JavaScript is generally weaker than Java, and the fact that pixels on the client's machine would probably not be on the page where the script is contained would lead me to believe that it's not possible. JS always manages to surprise me, though, so I guess you could keep looking. Just don't get your hopes up.

Some Thing I Made A Long Time Ago

It looks kind of grainy. I don't know if it's because the image is a GIF or what, but it detracts from the quality a lot. -
I think it's stupid to think that the major races aren't different from each other. After the original evolution of humans, the people spread out and adapted to each new place that they lived. The things that the author observed can be easily explained: In Africa, there are a lot of grasslands and jungles, where dangerous animals live. People would probably spend more time making sure that they could escape or protect themselves from the animals rather than sit and think about stuff. In East Asia, there's less to worry about, and the cultures like the Chinese have been thinking and inventing things for hundreds of years, sometimes long before other cultures thought about them (paper, gunpowder, pasta, etc.). The other parts... are just other. There's really nothing special about Europe and far West Asia, so the rest of the people just sat there and didn't do much. You can trace the features, strengths, and weaknesses of any culture to where that culture evolved and what kinds of factors effected them.

APCS in Java? I'm in that class, too... and we just got that problem today. I haven't finished it but basically your problem is that local is an object, not an array. Arrays are special, so they can be accessed using []'s, but objects can't. What I did for that part was to make local a two dimensional array (int[][] local = new int[number of rows in a][number of cols in b]) and a constructor for the Matrix class that took a two dimensional array argument: int[][] data;public Matrix(int[][] a){ data = a;}Then at then end I put "return new Matrix(local)"

Though people have said some pretty true things about jobs in programming, you haven't gotten the full story. Yes, many companies are hiring programmers, and yes, many jobs are being created for programmers. However, programming is a very popular field and programmers are a dime a dozen. If your company didn't like you it'd be the easiest thing in the world to find a replacement. Also since technology is changing so often, if there were to be a big change in the way things are done you'd have to learn a lot (ie punch cards -> keyboards). The money's not exceptional, either. As of this month starting programmers only earn about $48,000 (http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/). Hope I didn't completely turn you away, but it's better to have the full story.

From labs.google.com: What else would you do with artificially intelligence and genetic data? They're obviously trying to create superintelligent robots that will index our DNA like Google Desktop indexes our computers. Anyone who doesn't let their genes be indexed will be vaporized and erased from history, because by this time Google will have control over all the information sources in the world. Once they figure out what each gene does they'll index our minds. Then they'll hook us up to one giant supercomputer that will figure out what we should think of and make us think of it. You can't hide from Google, people, they will prevail.
