I downloaded and installed it. I don't find it any different from Firefox - in fact, it looks 99.99% same as firefox in every aspect, except that some of the GUI elements have been simply shifted around. Overall, looks like some new skin of firefox - that's all. Only extra's are some blogging and other web-services related tools (can't really call them tools - just some new features).. in the Tools > Options. Here's a screenshot for those who are interested: About the website, hehe... you're right curare. Remind's you of the beginning days of HTML - lot of colours and that's about it.. I wonder how they got hold of the domain though. Someone in their team must have had it registered way back.. trying to buy this TLD now would cost a fortune. Yup: Domain Name: FLOCK.COM Created on: 10-Feb-96 Expires on: 11-Feb-06 Last Updated on: 12-Jul-05 Bought during the early days..

Any One Know How To Create A Database?
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to iGuest's topic in Programming
That's not true - FTP doesn't have anything to do with the database, unless you're uploading the actual mysql binaries to your account for upgrades. To create a database, phpMyAdmin is sufficient, or if you're a power user - you have to use the command-line client of MySQL from your shell. Once again, whether it's apache or some other httpd, I've never heard of FTP being used to create databases... That's certainly a first. Try not to spread around disinformation like this. -

Fsck stands for File System Check or File System Consistency Check. It's one of the standard *nix commands - somewhat on the same lines as the windows CHKDSK, if you will - although it's a sacrilege to compare chkdsk and fsck.. lol..Herein of course fsck is meant to have that f-word connotation -

I think I posted the link to this same animation quite sometime back, when I was in India.. or was it someone else.. ?? First it was rmdort in this post: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/80848-topic/?findpost= Again it was me in this post: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/86284-topic/?findpost= Earlier this same animation was hosted at: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ - but seems like they lost their domain. It's being hosted elsewhere now. Anyway - if there's no other feedback, I'll close this topic soon. The older threads can be followed up. Regards, m^e -

Most likely some problem with GD again. Imagemagick stopped working after last server shift too. Had to be re-enabled. Most likely same problem. Is anybody else facing the same problem with GD ? There's no other reason why it should act like this. Anyways, only opaque can fix this ... -

VB.NET: Problem With Listview Controls
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to vhortex's topic in Programming
Hehe.. I've used so much of listview during past two months, I could write a walkthrough blindfolder... Anyways, basically there are 2 controls in VS.NET that can produce similar LIST outputs: 1. ListView 2. Datagrid Both have advantages and disadvantages. Datagrid is way more complex but immensely powerful. ListView far easier (and works faster) - but limited in features. With DataGrid, you can easily achieve what you want to do - EDIT any particular COLUMN in a ROW. With ListView, unfortunately - you can edit ONLY the FIRST column of each ROW - which itself is an ITEM (which you add to the ListView)... all other columns associated with this ITEM are SUBITEMS, which are NON-EDITABLE. Anyways, to go ahead and edit only the first item, you've to set the ListView property called LabelEdit to TRUE. In case you want to do the same with DataGrid (but be able to edit ALL) - let me know. I can help you out there too. Regards, m^e -
VB.NET: Problem With Listview Controls
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to vhortex's topic in Programming
First - read the first post I made on this thread. Now, your command, indx = uiListViewSData.SelectedItems(0).Index - fetches you the index of SelectedItems(0) - which should be okay, but sometimes I've had problems with the SelectedItems method - so I resort to using SelectedIndices() instead. See for yourself in this case, uiListViewSData.SelectedItems(0).Index is returning '0' as an index to your SelectedItems(0). Hence, quite obviously, your data WILL get added to the ZERO-eth position. Since you're choosing just one row at a time, set MultiSelect of ListView to false and then use, indx = uiListViewSData.SelectedIndices(0) to fetch the selected row correctly. Insertion is exactly what you're come up with: uiListViewSData.Items().Insert((indx + 1), "New Item....") -
Yup - 4-5mins.. that's about the time it takes on an average to restore a partition containing 1.5 Gigs of data. My Norton Ghost backup restores in just under 4 mins.. I got WinXP, OfficeXP, VS.NET2003 and hundreds of other everyday utilities. Only headache is the image creation process - which doesn't give you the option of breaking the image into spanned files and then writing to CDs. If you want disk-spannng with Norton Ghost you've to backup directly to the CD, which gives rise to a whole lot of mal-formed image errors. I've wasted more than 15-20 CDs in one sitting before I grew wiser. Moreover, everytime your Image recording fails somewhere miday, you've to start from the beginning of the series again (assuming it spans beyond one CD).. this is a massive wastage of time and cds. The best alternative is to backup to a single file on some other partition - and then on a blank DVD write this file, along with ghost.exe (from the installation directory) and make this DVD bootable. This will enable to you directly boot from this DVD, run ghost.exe (or put it in autoexec.bat) and install directly. ALSO - never forget to do a Image Verification check after the ghost image has been created. Ghost has a default option which you can turn on, so that this check is auto-performed everytime you create an image. In case you lack a software that'll enable you to put the content of your liking onto your bootable part of the CD, try WinImage (http://www.winimage.com/) - which lets you write out flopply images in a wide variety of formats, with your own selection of boot files. This image can be written directly onto a floppy, or be saved as an .ima file, which can then be used to create a Boot CD/DVD. As for your 4th question - you can create a ghost image of ANY partition that can be read from Windows. That includes your external drive. But remember - if you want to ghost that partition and put that image on your main drive - your partition sizes on both need to be same. Moreover, from your external HDD - the boot sector of that partition will be copied over - not your own MBR which is used for booting. So the windows replaced from this ghost image won't be able to boot. They both should work on the same principle. I've used the Drive Image of Acronis Disk Director Suite earlier on and the basic functionality was the same as Ghost. Conclusion: Use something like Ghost to backup a working set of your OS and regularly used applications. After-crash restorations become a mere breeze.

VB.NET: Problem With Listview Controls
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to vhortex's topic in Programming
What do you mean by new row at the currently selected area ? Can you be a little more clear on that ? ListView object won't add rows at location 0, as far as I know. Instead it would put it at the bottom. If you mean that you want to add a row ABOVE or BELOW a single or a set of items in the listview, then you can take the following approach: For a ListView you can set it's property MultiSelect to true. If so, an user might select a single row or multiple rows at a time. If set to false a user ca select only a SINGLE line. Say, I want to insert a row below a selected row. There's a method called SelectedIndices() under ListView class which returns an array containing the Index of the selected items in the list. The index of the first item is ZERO. Now in case MultiSelect is set to false - SelectedIndices will return only a single row, but when MultiSelect is true, this will return an array. If false, we can get the selected row (lets say, Max) by simply looking for it's index in the SelectedIndices() array's position ZERO - why we can be sure that this item will be in position ZERO is - that this array will containing ONLY ONE item, based on MultiSelect to be false. So two cases: Case 1: MultiSelect = false Dim Max as Integer = lsvReceipts.SelectedIndices.Item (0) OR, Case 2: MultiSelect = true If not, from that array you have to determine the highest index of the SelectedItems, to know which position you've to insert this new value. Lets use a short example with this list of receipts ( lsvReceipts ): 'We start by creating a variable called Max and store the first index in 'SelectedIndices Array. Dim Max As Integer = lsvReceipts.SelectedIndices.Item(0) 'We go through the SelectedIndices Array and find the highest index stored in it. 'We loop through 0 to SelectedIndices.Count - 1, as we're counting from '0' . For Counter = 0 To lsvReceipts.SelectedIndices.Count - 1 'Check with the item in each position - see if it's greater than Max If Max < lsvReceipts.SelectedIndices.Item(Counter) Then 'Set Max equal to it Max = lsvReceipts.SelectedIndices.Item(Counter) End If Next 'Now we know the Index of the Last Selected Item ( stored in Max ) So armed with the last selected item's position, we ADD a '1' to it, since what we want to insert, goes at a position below it. So 'Increase Max by '1'Max += 1 Now, simply issue an insert statement: 'Insert new item at that position.lsvReceipts.Items.Insert ( Max, "New Item" ) There you go... -
Neverseen - probably that certificate was issued by Psychz Netowrks, one of the earlier hosts of Xisto/asta servers. I'm not surely whether their services are still being availed or not.
