  1. Yup - it's open to all - coz the whole point of this is for the betterment of our board. The credits come from me personally ;)Also once we start getting the entries in, I'll make some showcase and put them up there - and maybe attach a public opninion poll too.. Let the WAR Begin
  2. Glad that everything sorted out well. Issue resolved. Topic closed. If problem persists, please make another post and it'll be seen to :)Regards,m^e
  3. Guys - seems like it's picking up Carry on - all the best to you all...As for your queries: No the invision powerboard logo doesn't need to be there - as (remember the earlier Ambience Skin) - that place will be taken over by the Xisto logo/title... Awaiting breathlessly to see the results pouring in ..
  4. Hi folks, [tab][/tab]I believe something went wrong with the server time last night. People who've posted during this period might be affected with the credit problem - somehow the server time got advanced to June 2018 - as demostrated by this post: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/8779-topic/?findpost=61902 Naturally, when the new credits were calculated following a post, the time difference completely messed it up - as it calculated the difference of yesterday to 13 years later and alloted that many negative credits... lol.. sorry - I can't help but laugh at this stupid error. Those who've been affected - your accounts will be fixed shortly and whatever credits you had earlier on will be restored. Extremely sorry for the inconvenience, but this is the result of one of those "Electronic Ghosts" ... I believe, those who didn't post during this period should have no problems with their accounts or credits. Meanwhile, those who've been affected by this problem - will you be kind enough to enlist yourself in this thread, so that we're able to fix all of them in one shot. Just list yourself and also the amount of credits you had earlier on (no funny stuff here It can be tallied with the count of a day earlier) ... After fixing your accounts, they'll be reimbursed with the correct credit amounts again. Till then, Thank You for bearing with us P.S. If you still have access to your account, you're advised to backup your site, if you don't have it backed up already.
  5. I've made an announcement regarding this. Kindly refer this this thread - Members With Thousands Of Negative Credits: Read
  6. Phrame - just don't end up getting framed Welcome to Xisto and have a great stay.
  7. WoWWW - really pretty - and so lush green. There's a waterfall very close by here - just like that. Maybe I'll put up some of those snaps too.. Looks very much like the same place.. :)Nice pic man.. good job.
  8. No need to reformat. Just wait up for a while. It seems an internal problem with mysql today. Lot of complaints pouring in. As far as I can make out it's not a problem at your end. So just hold your horses for a while I've informed the techs and they're looking into it.
  9. Hey guys, I found a page of similar type while searchning for Belgian Languages This shows something extra added by google in the same big bold black. Seems like some new google feature where in they add some extra relevant information about the keywords you searches. This case is ok - but I wonder what that Online: 2 for that Photography search was for.
  10. Lol.. I'd any day prefer lesser space for NO ADS at all. ADs you don't have any control over completely screws up your site - like a constant source of irritation.. more like a glaring cancer wound on your page No, seriously, that's how I feel about ADs which I cannot control.Besides, I really wonder - HOW MANY of us really use up whole of the space alloted to us ? Personally, after installing a couple of needed software, I hardly find stuff to put it. 150MB is still a lot - and won't run out quickly at all IF used wisely.
  11. Just get a domain man domains are dad cheap these days.. but one for 10-15 years at a stretch and u won't pay more than $4-5 per year. That'll solve your problem for once and all
  12. Can you provide some more details please ? What database was it - part of a forum/cms ? If possible PM me the name of the database too. Thanks.
  13. Problem is you don't have a Top Level Domain (TLD) but rather a subdomain under Xisto. So you can't modify the nameserver MX (mail exchange) records to be able to divert the mail into their inbox. I don't think you can really do it if you have a subdomain. However, if you get yourself a top level domain name then most likely you can. Incidentally, you can get yourself a top level .be (belgium) domain name as stated in this post: Free .be Domains Site in one of the Belgian languages (Dutch I believe).. but you can guess what goes where in most part and easily skip the ones not marked with an asterix (*). Next you cross your fingers and wait for "that" email to arrive.. And keep waiting...and waiting... P.S. maybe abiram can shade some light at it - he's got one.
  14. Can you use the same set of credentials (login/pass) to login using the MySQL command line client ? If you cannot, that'll explain why the connection is being refused. That error message you're getting, in 99% of cases, arises out of wrong password/username combination - OR, not allowed Host Mask in mysql.user table.Try using the command line client and let me know.
  15. And where can I find this PCE thingie, pray do tell ..
  16. Hey I've started liking the game man - the interface is one of the cleanest and coolest I've seen in recent times. And unlike many other MMO games, this one's fast loading as hell..Hmmm.. nice.. gives me a lot of ideas :)Thanks man
  17. It's easy as hell - but works only with Firefox. It's a simple Firefox extension named GooglePreview - which you can download and install from: http://searchpreview.de/ hehe - as you can see I'm a very busy man. The calculator's there coz I need to use it every 5 mins to calculate Bin/Hex stuff for coding. Going through Start Menu was getting to be a massive pain. So are some other utilities like Notepad2, an extremely lightweight but much advanced version of Notepad for quick editing of stuff. Another text editing utility I use is TextPad - which allows you to edit multiple files together - also extremely useful for coders.. (also with syntax highlighting) I use the firefox tabs to their fullest extent - otherwise how do you think I cope up with modding a bunch of posts together .. and replying too
  18. No telnet - only SSH (which is the SSL version of good old telnet) - is available upon request in the Misc. Requests Forum under Hosting Requests at no additional cost. OpaQue takes care of this - so will have to wait till he comes by and approves the request. Don't know about Entropy search though. But you can easily run it off your own shell - just upload using FTP, install it (unzip from cPanel file manager) .. and then put it in your own cron using cPanel again..
  19. Never mind those images - they've gone missing from imageshack.. Am putting them up elsewhere. Till then enjoy the other one's I've put up.
  20. It should be a very quick and convenient way of doing it - much simpler than referring to a database everytime to check whether you've got access or not.The most common way of fixing access permissions is to have a bunch of fields in the database, representing each screen - you just store 'Y' or 'N' in each field to set the access permission for that screen.Instead of that approach, one can easily store the whole information in a single or multiple byte of data, using each individual bit to represent a particular screen. In the database approach, you'd need 8 bytes (8 characters - Y/N) to store access rights for 8 screens, whereas, in the bitflag approach, you can use just a single BYTE (remember each BYTE has 8 BITS) - to store the whole data.Take for example a byte - consisting of these bits: 10011011 - each '0' or '1' represents whether permission is disallowed or allowed ..You just load this information from the database ONCE when the user logs in, and store this info in a session variable.. everytime u access a page, you check against this value and see whether this dude has access or not.But one problem with this approach - what if this user just walks off from his terminal without logging out ??? And his session hasn't expired yet ? Anybody else can come in and mess around - but so can you do it in case of the first approach.. If one forgets to log out, even God can't help (with due respects)...
  21. Hehe.. how you doing dude ? Come down to Ratchaburi sometime - got a nice new home right on the edge of a golf driving range .. green as far as your eyes can see and so very peaceful.. just about 5 mins out of the main ratchaburi city .. along the Phetkasem road. Anyways, here goes.. GD is short for Graphical Development (ToolKit).. it's simply a set of functions compiled in the form of a library, which allows you to call these functions from PHP and manipulate the various image formats (.bmp, .jpeg, .png etc) - as in load/save these files, display the images, generate such images dynamically from text or using standard graphical routines, like drawing lines/circles etc. - an example would be the Image Verification system that lot of forums and email sites use these days to differentiate between humans and automated bots. Those images are generated dynamically from a line of text and since bots can't recognize the characters in those images, they can't type 'em out in the textfield. And a tonne of more stuff Normally, this library isn't included with the standard PHP distribution, to reduce bulk (and increase security to some extent too.. the more you install such libraries and plugins the less secure and stable a system becomes)... But a lot of online gallery/forum sites need GD to be installed to operate properly as they render a bunch of dynamically generated images. Hence, in such cases you need to manually recompile the PHP source code, along with GD, so PHP can access these functions and let use you them in turn. Although I'm not sure, but I think there are ready-to-use binary distributions of PHP alongwith GD - to avoid the manual recompilation. If you want to check out the whole bunch of functions available in GD, go here: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Hope this cleared it to some extent Regards, m^e
  22. Photography has always been the love of my life. Nothing can be as absorbing as it as a hobby. The most attractive part about it, is that there are sooo many things you can learn about it that it never gets uninteresting.. You can try and learn as much as you want (and most of it is hands on) and yet you can never get to its full potential.. However, the best and only way to learn photography is to get around to actually doing it... this isn't a subject that you can pick right out of books. Here are some of my old snaps - in and around India and Thailand.. check 'em out if you haven't seen 'em already New Pictures Of My Trip Up Northern India Deep In The Heart Of The Ocean: Full Moon Rave Some More Memories Of Thailand ! Have fun
  23. Hehe - don't forget that Photography is like second nature to me. While nobody ever taught me, my dad's a big enthusiast and spends like a bunch on different kinds of camera equipment. He's a natural and doesn't bother with learning all these tricks - he just lets his instincts take control. As for me - his enthusiasm got hold of me very early on - and I taught myself a whole lot starting from the basic of Black & White to Color.. and as much as I could about the various tricks - using light to your advantage etc.. Also in the process I taught myself B&W film and print development. Back home, I have my little but complete B&W lab with a nice enlarger, development tanks, all the developer/fixer chemical.. You can just walk in and start working on your prints
