  1. It's not introduced into all accounts yet - I have it in one of my alternative accounts - but am waiting for it to turn up in my main account, so I can start adding people. Yeah - the universal thing is what I like best - from any platform, from any corner of the world.
  2. WOWW - Google is FAST. Guys - IT'S ALIVE - it's already been implemented.. I just logged into one of my accounts and found the messenger right below the Folders list. Here's a screenshot: Looks terrific - am just waiting excitedly for someone to log on and test it's features Looks like an exact replica of GTalk. You can pop the chat dialog out as a separate window or simply keep it floating inside your Gmail page. Awesome. Here are the pop-in and pop-out mode screen-shots Pop-in Pop-out And I found some more cool features... as shown in the following snapshot 1. Say you aren't observing the IM window - only checking your Gmail - the contacts name in your list becomes dull amber and flashes indicating new message.. 2. Also hovering your mouse above ANY EMAIL address in your messagelist, pop's out a new window prompting you to Invite to Chat or Mail. 3. Also another feature I missed out - that Hraefn pointed out - is a little link called Off-the-record right below your IM window. If you click on that, starting from next line you type, till you turn it off, NONE of your CHAT MESSAGES are LOGGED. Here's what they say about Off-the-record 4. Also they're got their own cute little B & W simleys The smileys appear as normal text at first and then through AJAX, they become graphical smileys - at first sideways, and then with a minor smooth animation they turn and become straight - which I find real cool. The animation can be re-enacted if you hover your mouse over the smileys. 5. It saves your chat-log in realtime. So anytime just pop into your Chat folder in Gmail - and you'll find the updated conversation log there.
  3. Sorry dude - my only knowledge is in Java, C++, C# and Vb.NET - can't help you in here
  4. Woow awesome dude - that's exactly what I do to my hard-drive.. except that NONE of my partitions are above 20 GB. As a result I have this whole bunch of drives - which rather turn out to be an advantage, coz I can then split my applications into separate partitions like Games, Graphics, Web-Design, Development etc. and have all neatly organized. I don't do it through the registry way though. I let windows installation take it's own course on C drive, and make that around 15 gigs - so it has enough space for the swap file there.. The rest of the hdd i split up according to application groups - with partitions never going beyond 20Gigs, coz beyond this size, I've noticed a marked drop in access speeds. I really don't care how many partitions I have as a result of it - it really helps me housekeep my files Also, as for My Documents - I move to it another Backup drive - so whatever I save there goes to the backup drive by default. Whenever I have to reinstall Windows, I don't loose ANYTHING - not even old installed application settings or documents - coz they all reside on separate drives Great to see someone else follows this too.
  5. I dont know man - but logically when such a thing happens, it should affect all users located on that particular server. It shouldn't cause just a handful to go through it.
  6. Cool - I've added another ZIP with the same files, this time zipped using Windows default zipper in Normal compression mode. The file is called Aqb.zip - you'll find it attached to the first post.
  7. I dont know what exactly do you mean by a WAP forum - but you can use any of the standard forum packages like IPB, phpBB, vBulletion, SMF etc - to establish a forum that'll carry out discussions regarding WAP related issues. Now, on the other hand - if you're looking for a forum software that'll generate the pages in WML format, so that the forum is browsable through your mobile/pda - then I'm at a loss. Don't know of any such. Other's might be able to help. If you do find such a software, do you mind putting up a discussion here after you've used it for a while ? I don't think we'd have any problems running such a software here, coz I think server resource usage of such a software will be far less.
  8. I know what you're talking about - I've undergone similar problems with other web-hosts earlier on and when I cancelled my account, I lost access to the control panel. Fine - but they still kept on charging me, even though I had no access to the CP. Neither was my site up. What followed was a long series of begging, pleading and then finally threats of fraudulent activity reports - ya, the final one caught their attention and they immediately mailed me back saying it's been cancelled. Prior to that the only thing that'd respond to my email was their autoresponder. Damn this - I can't even remember the name of their service, or else I'd have dealt a good blow to them right now.
  9. Hold your horses folks - this might be one of the ultimate scientific breakthroughs in recent times. All the so called "cures" for AIDS so far have been nothing but retroviral agents (cocktails of several expensive drugs) - that only served to inhibit the AIDS virus. None were able to purge them from your body for good. They could only limit the activity of the virus allowing you to lead a normal (almost) life till the end. But with this new report in the Salt Lake Tribune, it seems Paul D. Savage of Brigham Young University has invented a compound that actually HUNTS DOWN the AIDS virus in your body and kills them. This compound acts on all known variants/strains of HIV. Here's an exerpt from the article: This might very well be the dawn of a new day for those infected with this ghastly and fatal Syndrome. I pray to God that this cure turns out to be TRUE to its fullest. m^e
  10. Ya - the browser based chat hasn't been implemented yet - but if you message-chat with someone using Google Talk, the conversation log gets automatically saved in your gmail account. Of course, you've to go to your gmail account and turn the feature on. But this is so bloody coool. Now your chat-logs are available worldwide and not just restricted to the machine on which you've got GTalk installed. WAY TO GO GOOGLE
  11. I used Google Talk to chat with Trekkie last night - and it promptly stored my log in my gmail inbox under the new Chats section. Jolly cool. This way your chat conversations are available worldwide and not restricted to the machine on which you're using the messenger. WAY TO GO GOOGLE This was a MUCH NEEDED feature.
  12. I don't know about WinXP unzipper - I never trusted it much. I packed this file using Winzip v9 - which you can download from http://www.winzip.de/ Infact it's in version 10 now - but that wouldn't be a problem. I downloaded the file and tested it again - no problem with Winzip or WinRAR (http://winrarindia.in/)
  13. Nice really nice intro - I wish everyone would do the same So you're from Phillippines eh ? Good good.. been down there a couple of times. Really liked it. Beautiful country. Infact, my company partner used to work in Subig bay and he was the one who took me down. Good to have you here.
  14. Yeah WeaponX is right. Your only choice is to break it up yourself into smaller bits and then host them.
  15. Include a short redirection code in your HTM file --> PHP file. Here's a tiny redirection script that in conjuction with the setTimeOut command waits for that many seconds before redirecting to the new page.Include this in the HEAD of your page. <script type="text/javascript"> function delayer(){ document.location = "http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/; }</script> Replace location with your own domain+page. In the <BODY> tag, put this code: <body onload="setTimeout('delayer()', xxxx)"> This will cause the setTimeout function to wait for xxxx milliseconds and then call the delayer function, which in turn loads your new page. Or you could bypass the setTimeout alltogether - and use the delayer function rightaway with onload. Will work all the same.
  16. All working fine now I believe - or so it seems. I can get to all my DBs.
  17. Don't worry - your databases are safe. At this moment MySQL on Gamma is giving a little trouble and I can't load my board at Antilost as well. But it's just a temporary MySQL problem and will be fixed soon. Most likely the MySQL daemon got overloaded due to some reason. None of the data or databases will be lost - I can assure you that much. It's just a matter of time before everything starts functioning normally again.
  18. I completely agree with Sarah on this. ????[/tab]I've a few points to add to this. Most muslims will go about claiming that it's the extremists that are giving their religion a bad name - I'd agree to this to a certain extent, but not completely. What actually gives rise to these extremists - nobody pays attention to that. It's not just about taking some kids and brainwashing - there's a whole element of blind faith that's behind this. Come to think of it - I think muslims are not even permitted to doubt or qustion any sermons in the Koran - which I find the worst thing to have, given ANY religion. ????I grew up in a muslim dominated area of my city (Calcutta, India) - for the first 9 years of my life I saw horrible stuff happening around every second day. One moment everything would be fine - the next moment you'd see people running for their lives, dropping shutters, closing gates.. and then out of nowhere these groups of 30-40 with all kinds of swords and choppers would clash and start cutting each other to bits. And NO - THESE WEREN'T ANY EXTREMISTS. These were your ordinary everyday muslims - from different areas of the city. These events weren't even due to some religious bias - coz it was muslims cutting up each other on some stupid issues like a girl from one area having been teased in the other. ????So I ask you how do you explain this barbaric butchery ?? Once again - these are you everyday God-fearing muslims... what causes them to do such things ?? Such events are still very much a regular occurence and I get to hear about them quite often, although we've shifted from that region to another just because of this. What on mother earth do they think while they're at it ??? ????And again - if you drop by in India and take a look at the whole crime scene - you'd find around 80-85% of these people are devout muslims - and they invariably always end up killing/hurting the people whose house they're robbing. As for all the terrorists that are caught in India - they're invariably 100% muslim.. To all the muslim population on this board - I ask - why SO ? What drives these men ?? And it's not that they're a minority - they form a big part of our country too. [tab]Of course, one has to respect another's religion - but that respect doesn't come out of thin air. That respect has to be earned - and that is what these people will never understand. Someone should get it into their thick head that the so-called "Jihad" which I frankly believe, is way outdated in view of todays world - won't gain them even an inch of respect. The fact is that, these people would just go kill/plunder/pillage anyone and call it Jihad.. the whole meaning of the word is lost and so is the cause. Anyway - if I go on any further, I'll never stop.... Here are some latest news flashes on the whole Cartoon issue: And some more: Awaiting a free and open-minded discussion about this whole fiasco.
  19. I don't think they'll start charging all of a sudden. If they do that - it'll be a real bad move. They'd loose out on a HUGE client base immediately.Think of it - they're earning like hell through Adwords and Adsense (am sure for every click that you earn - they earn a good percentage more than you do)... Those two are massively successful programs. Plus they get to show the same in your gmail account too.Any idea what are their other sources of income ?? Whatever be it - they're making a tidy sum out of it, so that they can keep this service running. This whole Gmail-Gtalk issue is just a facade - a well-done one at that too - to draw in as many people into it as they can.BTW - there are some brilliant Indian brains working in Google. A bunch of my friends who were hardcore coders starting from school days are working for Google.. They all graduated from Stanford, Cornell, CMU etc and got inducted into Google.. So no wonder these neat stuff just keep flowing in and in and in.....
  20. Oh cool - now all of a sudden they've a new big notice up on the first(login) page too. Here's the screenshot:
  21. See you'll get credits in almost ANY forum - except the ones that say, NO POST COUNT - such as this one. You made quite a few posts here - but none were counted. All forums will increase your credits count, except for the ones like Life Talk, The Lobby etc. which are clearly marked with NO POST COUNT.
  22. IBM is going to launch it's Power6 Processor for servers. This multicore processor is expected to run between 4-5Ghz without major losses in power efficiency. Even at such speeds the heat dissipation will be far less thus bypassing the threat of silicon meltdown. Here's a short exerpt: Regards, m^e
  23. You can write well - which we consider a primary criteria for hosting in here. So just pick up any topic you like and jump in. Do not worry about being ridiculed - coz I know that is the first and foremost concern of any newcomer. It was mine too Anyway - as long as your posts are written by yourself with decent content and no vulgar language, all will be fine. Very soon you'll find yourself entirely absorbed into this community. Also while you're here - just as a footnote - a quick glimpse at the basic rules:
  24. Hey guys, [tab][/tab]For those who're using Gmail you might find that a new link called Chats with an associate Google Talk icon has popped up all of a sudden - right below your Inbox & Starred links on the left. Clicking on the link brought me to a page which says: Apparently you'll be able to talk to your friends right from Gmail in your browser window - more of the new supercharged AJAX I believe. Here's a quick pic of their planned layout: Incidentally - can it coincidence or whatever - the moment I found this new feature, a news report from Reuters suddenly popped up in my Google Desktop news feed window. It goes like... From the layout picture, I'd say it looks quite good - although am waiting to actually test it out and then give my comments about it. But considering their current product lineup and the individual quality of each product - I'd say, we shouldn't have any reasons to complain. Any comments ?? m^e
