What Country To Do You Live In, And Rate It.
Watermonkey replied to Fu Still Better's topic in General Discussion
Uh, I know this is ancient history, which makes it even more curious, but, since when is "North America" a "Country"??? Oh, this must be a time traveler from aboot 18 months from now when the great Economic (Slave Nation) Power known as the "North American Union" is Formalized and unified while the millions of police (slaves) with full-automatic machine guns control the populace (slaves) for their masters (who will kill them nearly as fast as they kill the rest). Excuse me while I go buy some more "resistance" to give to the Chinese Army when they go door to door looking for rebels... -
Ok, I'm not sure if I can say this with a straight face, so I'll just say for you poor college students who need some extra green for that weekend movie (Mike, you reading this?), you might check in to this more closely. You never know, some of your relatives down the line might actually be able to say, with honesty, "Well, I'm a monkey's Uncle!" I guess some perverts are wanting your "seed" so they can create the ultimate, uh.... Well, someone help me out here: THE LINK Horror? Nightmare? Improvement? SIN? Here's the original article in case the link disappears at some point... Notice from BuffaoHELP: Topic title modified

Saint Michael's Movie Review Corner: Iron Man
Watermonkey replied to Saint_Michael's topic in General Discussion
I've seen an absurd number of previews for that movie and the stupid game that's going to be released to accompany it. In my several years of paying attention, I've noticed something about movies: The more they're hyped, the lower the odds the movie is worth seeing. Take Robin Hood way back in the 90's for example. Most people don't know that the one starring Kevin Costner wasn't the only "Robin Hood" in production at the time. In fact there were two Robin Hoods competing to be released in theaters and the one that remains in the memories was the one everyone remembers. The other one, I'd argue, though, was much superior in many ways including acting (almost goes without saying) and the actors aren't names that come to mind right now... Let me go get a link for this little dissertation... Ok, I'm back and HERE'S THE LINK. If you get the chance, I'd recommend you see this more realistic rendition. Bet most people viewing this weren't even aware of this version. Anyway, my point is I may watch this Ironman when it comes on PPV and I don't have to pay for it. I can't imagine actually coughing up cash to see it. And I'm cheap. -
Hey! Maybe we could re-grow SM's brain! :lol:No, seriously, there's so much science has to find out, we've only just begun to scratch the surface. I've heard that anyone who's under 50 or so right now can expect to live another hundred years with the projected advances in science. It's not too late to quite the synthetic "food" diet now, though. That nasty crap will give you problems later on. Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got a cigarette to smoke...

I would like to die slowly, over a period of weeks, during which my body is cut into a thousand little pieces, but I'm forced to stay alive and watch and feel it all happening.... :lol:What a silly question!

Hi. Welcome to the Funny Farm. Enjoy your stay, but be wary of Trolls. Don't feed 'em.Once you become hosted, your points are measured in days. So you'll loose one point per day. Sound easy enough?

Maybe we should try and ignore Politicians who use fear and hysteria to motivate the sheeple and simply try and live our lives in a way that would please Deity and be conservative in the way we impact the environment and the planet which sustains and nourishes us. I really don't think anything much more than common sense is required for this endeavor. There is probably, or possibly, a minimal affect caused by the presence of humans on the planet. But I'd suggest that it's a very select few people who do isolated and extraordinarily harmful things to the planet that even makes that previous statement correct. How many people did it take to set off two nuclear bombs in Japan to end WWII? Not very many, I think. The same small group of irritating people have been responsible for setting off many nukes, both above ground and below, since. While I do not think these events have impacted the surface temperature of the planet, they've clearly had an effect on the rates of cancer to populations living down wind from the test sites. You can do your own research on this. Southern Idaho in the United States is one example of a abnormally high rate of cancer. Another example is the trend that asthma has taken compared with the tests and with certain chemical factory emissions and their geographical locations. The United States Air Farce, I've heard, has come out and admitted it's been putting additives in the fuel of it's aircraft to cause a haze to form behind the planes when they're flying in order to block sunlight from warming the earth. It's clearly true that plane exhaust, weather or not it has additional chemicals, has a profound effect on the atmosphere as evidenced by the appearance of said skies on the days after 9/11 when all air traffic was grounded except for a few military flights (in North America) and of course chartered planes carrying the families of terrorists back to Saudi Arabia. But, on the topic, every moron on the planet, no matter how low his IQ, should be able to see that the weather remains and has always remained in constant flux and continues to change over time - weather it be a day or eons. What kind of idiot would believe that Climate Change could somehow be altered by a global carbon tax? AlGore is being paid millions to spread the propaganda. What excuse does the average Joe have? None. If the Powers That Be offered me $100M tax-free to promote Global Stupidity, I'd be happy to do so. Until then, I'll just have to tell it like it is. I'll be looking for that payment to be direct deposited into the account on file with the Infernal Revenue disService. And you'll notice that my posts will abruptly end the day that happens!

According to this article 393 ARPANET employees in 1978 received the very first SPAM email from DEC. Since then we've all grown to know and love SPAM in all of its flavors. I say we should make this a International Holiday and drink a beer in rememberance of that very first little SPAMalita that started it all back when The Rockford Files was entertaining us nightly and Jimmy Carter was messing up the Middle East. I think that was Carter's term... Anyway, here's the article in its entirety in case the above link doesn't always work:

Mac Vs Pc Which is better? [OPINION]
Watermonkey replied to savgunz's topic in Science and Technology
Well, first of all, thanks for being open-minded enough to ask the important questions. One thing you might do to dispel the "Mac is more expensive" myth is go to apple.com/store and build a Mac. Load it up. Now open a new tab in your browser and go to Dell.com and do the same. Try to equip the Dell the same as the Mac. I'd recommend the iMac for starters. The first thing you'll find is you won't be able to put a 1 TB hard drive in the Dell. You probably won't be able to put in the latest processor from Intel, either, I think it runs at 3.06 Ghz. The RAM shouldn't be a problem, just look at the speed of the motherboard to make sure they're the same. When you get as close as you can, what is the price difference? Keep in mind the Mac comes with quite a lot of software included with the OS and the iWork suite is quite good and a 10th of the price that MS charges for Office. There are other benefits too. You could use Boot Camp to partition that big fat Terabyte hard drive and run XP on the other partition for those silly games you might enjoy playing that won't play in OSX. I personally use XP to run MS Streets and Trips for work-related activities and to run a little USB File Transfer program for my FTA receiver. Otherwise, I'm in the Mac side all the time. Oh, and, like Alex says, Apples have always had a right click, and the Mighty Mouse actually has it built in. If you choose to buy a three click mouse, the middle clicker can easily be programmed as well, so it's a myth that there is no right click on a Mac, and it's a myth that Mac is more expensive, too. When you go to buy, use an educational discount on line, or ask the rep you talk to on the phone to help you out a little. They're usually pretty easy to work with and you can get a 10% discount without too much effort. Another option is to look at their re-furbished section on the web site for some even better deals with full factory warranty. Good luck! -
The Texas "cult?" Whats everybodys thoughts on this one?
Watermonkey replied to sheepdog's topic in General Discussion
I heard on http://www.infowars.com/ that the FBI actually had an agent or informant on the inside undercover. The informant didn't mention any abuses were taking place. But they went and did their raid anyway. Stoopid Government Jack-booted Thugs. I can't disagree with anything you said in your post, Sheepdog. Stay informed. -
Mike, why is it so easy for you to jump in the middle of a discussion not remotely related to you and start making excuses for others' bad behavior? No one suggested that Xisto is a "perfect" entity, but there are some very basic protocols that should be followed before a major undertaking such as physically moving servers from what appears to be nothing more than a parking garage with no A/C, and poor or no UPS backing it up and transporting it by someone's VW Bus or something to a real data center where I'd assumed it was in the first place. Even if it was an emergency, someone could have and should have taken three minutes of their valuable time to post something up on the Alerts and Notices forum to make people aware their service was going to be interrupted. It's called basic common decency, communication, and good business. And everyone who keeps calling this service "free", stop! There's no free lunch, and there's no free hosting. If it was free, I wouldn't be sitting here in front of my laptop responding to Mike.

OT: I don't think voting for Bush will do any harm any time soon. In fact, I think EVERYONE should vote for Bush. That would make things interesting... As for the Hit and Run... Glad you're all right!

I would never argue with someone who's agreeing with me, such a rarity these days around here. I was just thinking, hoping really, maybe he's a Chinese terrorist type who's seeking to dismantle the Fed in hopes of bringing down the entire western world... *crosses fingers*

Gosh! Thank God for Homeland Security! I don't know what I'd do if they weren't there scaring the crap out of my fellow citizens day after day. I sure do hope they come to my house and ask to "inspect" my firearms to make sure I'm safe with them around. I mean, golly, I'm such a complete drooling idiot I shouldn't even be allowed to own such deadly things. Heck, I think one day every house will have just plastic ware like they allow on the airlines. That way we won't be in danger of accidentally cutting ourselves or be able to cut someone else. I wonder when they'll come with a straight jacket to take me away hee hee hoe hoe ha ha...

Reminds me of someone who's trying to get people to write his research paper for him... The Federal Reserve is one of the most contentious institutions in the world and they, along with a select few private banks in Europe and elsewhere control the economic destiny of nearly the entire planet, and they answer to no one. But you can research the rest. We're not here to do your homework assignment for you.

Whats the most recent movie you watched?
Watermonkey replied to iGuest's topic in General Discussion
No Country For Old Men. TL Jones is not a good actor. I think he played the same character in this movie that he played in that movie with Kate Blanchette, can't think of the title now... Missing? Anyway, aside from his droll performance, the movie was actually really fun to watch. I would've liked more of Woody Harrilson and less of Mr. Jones, but what can you do? I highly recommend this one. It's the best movie I've seen in quite a while, but it is quite graphic, so leave the 12 and younger crowd out of the room unless they're already desensitized. -
I'd add, just to simplify Buff's explanation, that if you lift the hood of most any conventional (non hybrid) automobile you'll see a belt or several belts attached to a center flywheel and also wrapped around about three smaller flywheels attached to powered accessories. One spins the alternator. Very important to run the fan which blows cool or warm air around the inside cabin of your car. Two would be attached to the power steering hydraulic pump to make turning the wheels easier (many newer cars have electric assist here so no belt). Belt number three would be attached to the hydraulic pump that magnifies the power applied to the brakes when you step on the brake pedal. And, for cars that have A/C, belt number four is attached to the Air Conditioning compressor which is just like the one in your refrigerator except this one is powered directly by the motor and when it's cycling freon (or whatever the name of the new "green gas" is) through the condenser in front of the radiator, it draws approximately 10 - 15 horsepower from your motor costing you money in extra fuel consumed. Many newer cars also have just one belt, but it makes no difference as it's spinning all those accessories none the less. The VW Touareg and other EU VWs like the Phaeton with the optional V-10 TDI motor have a chain and gear assembly that is internal -very cool, no belts at all. But, I digress. The point is, ultimately it's the engine's spinning action that powers all your car's accessories including the air compressor. The battery may supply the juice needed to operate the fan, but it wouldn't last long without that alternator that's spinning while the motor is running. And if you shut the motor off, your cool A/C will quickly heat up because the compressor isn't spinning any more forcing Freon through the condenser thus making it cool so it can go back to the radiator inside the cabin and have the fan blow air through it making the air cool for you. Ultimately, it's powered by gas or diesel or whatever fuel is injected into your motor to make it run.

I had my drivers permit at age 14 and my full unrestricted license at 14 1/2 years old. I didn't see the problem then and I don't see a problem now. I do like some of the restrictions that have come in place since then, though, like night time restrictions, number of friends in the car and all that, but there are legitimate needs to do both of those too, so, like I said before, I don't see the problem. I started to sit behind the wheel as early as 12 years old driving down narrow dirt roads in a larger chevy truck. Good practice.

Or you could buy a Macbook Pro. They're not giving them away, but they come with the latest and greatest hardware specs usually and you can always install XP on a partition so you can have the best of both worlds. That's what I'm using. This laptop is 17", 18 months old, and still has a 2.33 Mhz Dual Core Intel inside. I've replaced the Hard drive with one that's more up to par (298.09 true GB) compared with the one it came with (160), but otherwise it's stock with 2MB RAM running on a 667 Mhz motherboard, and the ATI Radeon X1600 GCPU with 256 MB of VRAM is probably a little dated by now too, but I'm still loving the experience. With XP on the other partition, it's true what my friend told me when I went to install it. He said, "This will be the most stable version of Windows you've ever seen!" It's absolutely true. Windows doesn't crash when it's on a Mac. It's kinda creepy, really... My point is, the extra money I spent on this laptop has already proven itself worthwhile because I'm still using hardware 18 months later that beats the machine you're thinking of buying in many respects. I can always max my RAM to 4 GB if I want, too. I'm not seeing the need, though. Stay away from Vista, though. That's one POS OS. Just my $.02...

I Have A Dodgy Back... Need Some Tips Please.
Watermonkey replied to ~Upnorf Cr3w~'s topic in Health & Fitness
Go see a chiropractor for god's sake! They don't cost that much and you'll not regret it. See one who's been in practice for at least a few years and has established himself. Word of mouth advertising is best. Get recommendations from friends, don't just let your fingers do the walking. Just because someone can afford a full page ad in the phone book doesn't make him qualified to work on your back. Good luck! -
That's right... he works at a Apple Store... Hmmmm... I'll have to remember that when I go looking for my next MacBook Pro... :)Oh... and, uh... FALSE! That better?

There are antennas you can buy. Go look at CCRANE and check out their gear. It's not cheap, but it works and, hey, you can use all that money you're saving on monthly internet service and buy a nice antenna. With a good antenna you'll probably have more options too just in case your neighbor gets sick of paying for your internet.
