Yeah, I was kinda annoyed by that. I had to go back and quote my previous post, then make a note below it that I had meant to say such and such.... the only other forum I know of that doesn't have an edit post option is Yahoo Groups. But they suck, so that's another story.

What's Camera Obscura ...thinggy from my web....
lordofthecynics replied to rvovk's topic in Art & Creativity
Yeah, using one of those to look at an eclipse is a good idea, since looking directly at the sun is a very bad idea. The phrase "camera obscura" is a Latin term, meaning "dark chamber," and is the basis of the modern camera. Some kids would make a pin-hole camera in school, which is kind of like the one used for viewing an eclipse. -
Wow, I feel really old. Most of the posters here are 10 years younger than me (me being almost two months away from turning 23). It kinda shows how tech-savvy some of the younger members of our generation are turning out to be. It's a somewhat mixed blessing, since on one hand they've got a jump start on today's technology, but on the other hand, they might turn into computer junkies who rarely go anywhere except to class or work, like me. Whoops, I meant $150.

I had a DS for less than a week and returned it because there were two dead pixels on the top screen. I have no idea what happened, I never dropped it or anything, they just appeared there one day. I paid $200 for the stupid thing, and it had problems already! You could understand how furious I was then.

Yeah, they seem pretty reliable. My old Pentium III would run fast sometimes, then horribly slow other times. Now my AMD would run evenly fast at good speeds all the time.

12 Year Old Murderer Sentenced To 30 Years

The sad thing is, is the parents most likely had complete trust in the doctor and had no idea what effect the prescriptions had on him. -
Minesweeper this game needs to be destroyed
lordofthecynics replied to spacemonkey's topic in The Vent
Wow..... you really should go out and play some recent games, not some crap made by Microsoft in its early days. -
That's rather biased, seeing as no one has really even played one outside of Japan.

Psychiatric drugs, like any other prescribed drug, can make any person dangerous in any situation. Though the FDA requires harsh, extensive testing (and some products never make it through), there is always the risk of unknown side effects. Sometimes these side effects can include black outs, loss of memory, fits of rage, etc, somewhat akin to schizophrenia, or worse. In this case, the boy might have suffered side affects from his "medications" which affected his behaviour in a very bad way. I think the court should take that into consideration, and perhaps call in his doctor as a witness. -
I have an AMD as well, and it was well worth it. I used to have a 1GHz Pentium III, which was really fast, but it overheated easily and whatnot. Now I have an AMD Sempron 3000+, which is twice the speed of my P3, and even with the same amount of RAM and video memory, this computer is noticeably MUCH faster, not just when gaming, but faster overall. Plus, it was much cheaper than a P4 chip, which is fast, too, but is best for certain applications. The Celeron, on the other hand, is pretty much the red-head stepchild of the Intel family. It's cheaper, because it's production costs are much lower compared to the P4, as they are easier to make, and because of lesser performance. They're almost always used in budget machines. Though that's not to say they're not good, they're just not recommended.

Uh, what?

How about the PSP? What do you guys think about that? Pretty nifty, huh? I would love to have one of those, especially if it came with Final Fantasy: Advent Children *drools*. Although I don't know much about the PSP, what I've heard and seen about it makes me more excited about it than the Gameboy DS or even the next Nintendo system.

Delphi Tutorial - Change Your Start Button Caption

Oh, ok. I'm not too familiar with programming languages. I had a hard time with JavaScript and CSS as it was, though HTML is somewhat easy for me. -
Oh, ASSEMBLY, ok. The last time I tried anything with that was when I was in the PC lab in college and the prog I was using crashed, and Win2000 asked if I wanted to "debug it," so I thought, why not? So I clicked OK and it brought up VisualBasic, then gave me another error, and closed. WTF. So yeah. I let it go and forgot about it. Too confusing.

Yeah, it's too bad Yahoo Groups doesn't take MSN's lead and let you customise their pages. I hate how my Yahoo Group looks, because I can't change font colors, and you can only use certain combinations of colors. Lame.

Then again, I couldn't even tell what he meant by that last comment, either.

Jerrick De Leon Thirteen weeks premature, he is alive...
lordofthecynics replied to kc8yff's topic in General Discussion
Wow, poor kid. If he survives, who know what other sort of complications he may develop as he grows up? Then again, I've known some kids to be born weeks early and grow up to be perfectly healthy. Let's hope it's the latter in his case. -
I saw this post and thought it was about OVERclocking CPU chips. Whooops. And no, I don't know anything about clocking in x86 ASM. What is that, anyway? I'm kinda curious now. Is that like, Linux-related, or something? If it is, I'm pretty much lost on Linux, so I'm no help AT ALL. Sorry.

Uhhh.... right, dude. Anyway, most people would feel uncomfortable with their parents in any situation involving sex. It's normal, but not necessarily a good thing. Parents are afraid of talking to their kids about sex because they're afraid of exposing their children to it and possibly turning them into little perverts or something, I dunno. Either way, because of the way society is structured nowadays, sex is more commonly accepted as part of everyday human life, but when it comes to communication on the subject between a child and his or her parents, it's a lost cause. Seeing it on TV with them in the same room is even worse. It's just a result of their upbringing. It may even be the same with you and your kids some day.

What is Delphi, where can I get it, and what is the point of changing the start button name?
