Emulator + Roms No need spend money also can play console games
styfer replied to silverkaiser's topic in Computer Gaming
emulators are only good till PS1Now, even PS2 emulation is not perfect (you cant play any games at full fps i think)So, it will be a real long time before you can emulate PS3. You may need a real strong sys like quadcore/DX10 card to play.. LoLIn the end, emulators will be forever behind consoles, so if you want to play the latest and greatest console games, buy the console! -

there is NO WAY any software can get you increased internet/network speed1)if you are on 56k, the most you can get is 56k, your modem cant send/receive more than 56k period.2)if you are using adsl/cable, this speed is CAPPED by your ISP. For adsl i dont know but for cable, if you are good, you can increase your net speed with hacks. And i mean hardware hacks. Those kind that requires you to change your modem configuration, ie MAC ADDRESS to a someone else whos ISP plan is superior to yours. Then you will enjoy his net speed. However this is illegal and can be caught quite easily. (there cant be 2 same MAC address connected to the ISP..)Any software claiming increased speed is actually using other types of technology like caches. I dont know about the traffic shaping and finding the shortest loop thou.

Free Domain For All. Give it a try...No charge at all...
styfer replied to rex97's topic in Websites and Web Designing
the problem with all these address referrals are pop-ups and sometimes advertisement bars placed on your website or even a few second of a redirrect page full of advertisements. these greatly turn your readers off. But of course there is no free lunch in this world, I heard domains are quite cheap. About $10 per year? -
I have Nokia Ngage QDIts quite a nice phone since its a smartphone afterall. The only complains I had is the size of this phone. But it seem that the rest of the Nokia series are quite huge sized phones especially the N series. Anyway, I am a smartphone addict. I cant stand phones which doesnt let you install any 3rd party softwares or at least some java application.

Contact Lenses Or Glasses? Which do you prefer?
styfer replied to shigajet's topic in Health & Fitness
i myself is a glasses user (i have never use contacts be4!)even so, i am not planning to try contacts any time soon cos of the inconviences my friends experienced when they use contacts. They have problems like contacts slipping off, resulting in loss of one contact len, eyes getting dry up, infection due to dirty lens. I have even heard of cases of lens cleaning solution having problem ( I forgot what happened actually but I got 2 cases of manufacturer recalling all their lens cleaning solution becos of some reason.) Sorry I din really read into these articles to tell you whats wrong with the solutions since I have already 'decided' not to use contacts, ever! -
i heard the pricing of N95 would be similar to N93Yes after the debut of N95, i think a lot of N93 users went crazy. The spec of N95 is juz plain amazing. With a form factor of N80 (actually its 6mm slimmer than N80, and i think thats a lot!), it packs way more multimedia functions. The best addon I think is the 3.5mm audio jack. This is what makes a phone truly music enabled. However I do have doubts about N95. First of all is the slider. I heard complains about the N80 slider.. We will have to wait and see then..Btw, after a week of N93 being released for sale, N95 came out.. When N95 finally comes out at 1st quarter 2007, i wonder what new phones Nokia will have up their sleeves. Mayb a touchscreen pda phone at long last?

What Will Happen If Oil Ceases To Exist?
styfer replied to Matrixdudej's topic in Science and Technology
i guess by the time oil runs out, we would have found a new source of energy. It should be the days where u see wind mills everywhere, dams build across every river.Althou I think the option of nuclear power will be widely used (when it comes to survival, nobody cares if it is dangerous or not)If technology is even more advanced, i shld see new unfound forms of energy. How would u know if u can produce energy out of thin air or mayb dust.. lolOn a scarier thought, if u watched MATRIX, how about humans selling themselves as a power source? -
I think this is where open source software comes into play. Yes, we should credit software makers for their useful softwares but there comes a point where perople, normal consumers like us have to choose between paying and ripping it off the net for ffree. I'm sure most will have gone to the 'dark' sideThis is the nature of all humans, you cant change it. What i think software developers should do is not trying to educate consumers to pay for their products. Instead, they shlould be looking for ways to earn from their software without asking consumers to pay! One example is linux. Its free, but when u are asking for on-site support..

Data Can Be Stored On Paper Store GBs of electronic data on Paper
styfer replied to OpaQue's topic in Science and Technology
hey guys what if this 'data' is stored as a jpeg file?i dun care about it in paper but if a A4 jpeg image file can store 450GB, isnt that the mother of all file compression?i dont really know how big is an A4 jpg or even sizes any other image compression, but i think an A4 file would only need 10mb right? -

styfer replied to jlhaslip's topic in Hardware Workshop
hi!one qn.Have you successfully boot to windows xp before?and what is your laptop's spec?I have this similar experience on my old desktop before, running on windows 2k fine but once installed windows xp, it wont run. It turn out that my graphics card cant support the interface of windows xp.. lol..for your case, i suggest booting to bios, set boot device as CDROM. The rest all disabled. Pop your CD in and restart. If it can boot pass BIOS, rmb to press any keys when it has this message 'Press any key to boot from CD'Hope this helps. -
there are small external wireless adapter out there like this one http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ However, since you want your adapter to be linux-compatiable, i suggest u search around for linux how-to install instructions before buying that any product
-
yea as wad day_armstrong said, the hardest part of setting up wireless in linux is getting linux to recognise the hardware itself! it took me a while to setup my linksys adapter with SUSE (ok or mayb i lack the knowledge to do that) http://www.faqs.org/docs/Linux-HOWTO/Wireless-HOWTO.html mayb of some help there

I have read a theory about everytime u turn on the mains to your computer, there is this sudden surge of electricity going from your mains to your computer. This sudden surge can be harmful. That is one reason y some recommend to keep your computers on 24/7btw for those who do not want to get hacked when running your computers 24/7 you can always set a script asking your computer to renew its IP address every few hours? (ISP dependent of course)
-
from what i knowthis is juz a joke played by the hackers/crackers when they cracked and release the RTM version of windows VISTAon a side note, Microsoft is screwing themselves over privacy. I mean, they are making products harder to use thru all the validations and stuff.

What Would You Do If There Was No Internet? hmm...
styfer replied to whyme's topic in Science and Technology
Believe me, we won't be feeling any much worse because we do not have internet to start with.Since we have not used internet before, we won't know how addictive or become addicted to internet at all!But without the internet, I may become a bookworm? Or maybe a more 'outdoor' type of person. Or I may become a worse crouch potato at home.(And the word 'porn' wouldn't ring any bells to me lol)
