Are you a gamer? Yes - born and bred. I started with the ASCII games, moved on to Leisure Suit Larry, then Empire and Tetris (can you believe that's still around??? After almost THIRTY YEARS??) 3D evolutions only dragged me in further. I sat in front of a screen playing Quake for nearly 3 years...which is probably kind of sad. LOL. What's your weight like? Skinny - ridiculously skinny given my overall activity level. I'm gifted with a turbo metabolism that actually leads to hypoglycemia if I don't chomp on something somewhat regularly. How do you eat? (Your diet, basically) Whatever I feel like - literally. I mostly eat food in bar form. And I don't drink anything other than soda and caffeinated beverages. Thus far, I'm doing well and many people mistake me for someone much younger. So there! nyeah!!

I should have put Diablo on the list. I played Diablo regular until basically I was the only person left on Battlenet. I was hoping they'd reset the ladder so I could be number 1!! LOL. Diablo 2 was a nice upgrade...I liked the new classes they added. That didn't really take off as well as they'd expected though and it's already dead. Neverwinter Nights kind of took me over for a long time there...there was a specific mod called Lost Souls that attracted HUGE numbers of players. After awhile, the usual catty-ness set in and everyone was driven off by ridiculous personal stuff. So everyone went on hold until NWN2 came out. Has anyone checked out NWN2??? I'm not given to paying huge sums for a sequel that may possibly stink to high heavens.

ALWAYS start with the simple stuff. First, get a can of compressed air. Open up the box and blow all the dust out. You'll be surprised what a little housecleaning can do! After you have it cleaned, remove ALL of the cards from their respective slots (PCI cards and RAM) and re-seat them FIRMLY in their respective positions. Please do this one by one if you're at all discombobulated by that process. Then try firing her up. You might already be done! If you're still in trouble, then you need to do some piece-part swapping to try and eliminate the problem. Do you have a spare PC? I have 3....I realize that's not a luxury most people have, but I'm a repair tech by trade and do this stuff all the time. I would DEFINITELY just yank the memory out and put all new memory in as a start. If that didn't do the trick, I'd replace the video card. Those are the two most common components to keep a system from loading Windows. We really do need a lot more information too. Specifically: 1. How many beeps are their after you turn it on? The number of beeps will tell you exactly what component is failing usually, but you need your Motherboard Manual for that...I pray you have that nearby. 2. Exactly WHAT is coming up on the screen instead of windows! It is posting? Do you see a memory count? Does it get to the Windows screen and die there? Please give this wee bit of info a try and let me know how you make out.

What Do You Think About Vista? ....lets say everything abou VISTA
humanisfilth replied to ejafa's topic in General Discussion
Vista is a BEASTIE of an O/S. I read an article last week on how good it's GOING to be (not yet) for parents of kids who game alot online. Lots of neat lock-down, tracking features will be available later this year, making it a valuable investment if you're in need of that. Valuable indeed....the cost is going to be HUGE for some middle Americans. This product was late to release, missing HUGE amounts of bells and whistles so they could get it to market, and has been reported RIFE with driver issues. They just resolved a HUGE problem with flat screens going bonkers right after the product was installed. And yes, it does slow down machines less than 3 Ghz...significantly as you get towards the lower end eMachines. If you have the means to acquire a Dual Processor, High Speed machine with kick *bottom* sound and graphics cards...it's worth an early peek to see all the cool, slick stuff they've built it. But I'd say that's more for the well to do with time on their hands. In the final analysis, Vista is out now, but it's just NOT ready for the general American public OR Corporate America! They have a LOT of work to do to complete it and shake out the bugs. If you have a spare machine and can get some of the free beta copies that were roaming around - feel free to install it and take it for a test drive. But as for buying it for day to day use? I wouldn't even consider it until next year. Until then, XP is doing just fine...thank you very much. -
Yeah, for low volume, you can use USPS on the cheap. For international shipping, you will start getting into a pricier range perhaps warranting involvement with UPS. Depends on the type of mailings you're doing too. If your sending stuff certified mail, then the packages have to meet certain criteria and international shipments start to get REALLY expensive through USPS. I found that out the hard way trying to ship something to Hong Kong. What a disaster! I NEEDED a signature as I was dealing with a VERY shady ebay store...which had just been taken down by eBay btw, but I digress. The cost for shipping back a $30 unit in a new, sealed package with tracking and signature ran upwards towards $22. Forget that! I sent it speed mail and that was it. No written proof of receipt. Ultimately, I had enough of a case through PayPal and eBay that I didn't need to worry - but you're going to run into those circumstances from time to time and secure shipping will be a MUST.Low, infrequent "i don't care" shipments - USPS. Anything you need much more assistance with, UPS. Plus UPS will help you with packing materials. NICE!

My Laptop Won't Start What's Happeing?
humanisfilth replied to praphull8888's topic in Operating Systems
Dollars to donuts you simply had a bad drive that was preventing a boot. If the BIOS sequence looks for A: D: C: in that order to boot and one of the devices is kloogy, then the whole kit and kaboodle will be halted during startup. Could also be a bad RAM card or simply a shot system board OOB.Did you get a manual with the computer? Specifically one supporting your chip set? Bad boots usually have a specific boot sequence, say 3 short beeps for one problem or one LONG beep for another problem. That, plus any error codes shown on the screen, should give you enough data to do with.More information for something like this would be really helpful. I can usually remotely diagnose, repair anything provided the proper information is available. -
If you read between the lines in her message, she's being very clear with her feelings. This is an important friendship to her, one she'll always value, but this is never going to be THE romantic relationship for her. I'm sure for YOU, right now, she seems like your soul mate, but there's a LOT of souls out there, man!So yeah, do yourself a HUGE favor and heed her wishes. Don't put your life on hold because of something that might be, but you're quite specifically being told won't be now or any time in the near future. LIVE LIFE!!! There's truth to the old saying "If you can't be with the one you love, then love the one you're with." Big truth!(I say all of this from personal experience. Were it not for the advice of some very good friends, I'd probably have grown old and gray waiting for my "soul mate"...who now just makes me very, very sad.)

Sure, I'll support our troops...just as soon as the chimp pretending to be our president enacts the following policy changes IMMEDIATELY!!!1. No more wars that increase the value of stock in *BLEEP* Cheney's prior employer, Halliburton. 2. Full disclosure from Condoleezza Rice about whether she and President Bush were advised before 9/11 of the possibility of planes being flown into buildings by terrorists.3. Legislation that clearly states the torture in ANY form is illegal.4. No more disregard of the basic human rights enshrined in the Geneva Convention. 5. No more kidnapping of people and sending them off to secret prisons in nations where we can expect they will be tortured. 6. No more unconstitutional wiretapping of Americans. 7. No more proposed amendments to the United States Constitution that would, for the first time, limit fundamental rights and liberties for entire classes of people simply on the basis of sexual orientation. (Don't ask...don't tell?? Puh-leaze!) 8. No more inaction by Congress on fixing our hypocritical and inconsistent immigration laws and policies. 9. No more disastrous cuts in funding for those most in need (so he can fuel more wars!)10. No more federal cuts in community policing and local law enforcement grant programs for our cities. 11. No more inaction on stopping the genocide in the Darfur region of Sudan. 12. No more of the Patriot Act. 13. No more pre-emptive wars. 14. No more contempt for our long-time allies around the world. 15. No more dependence on foreign oil. 16. No more tragically incompetent federal responses to natural disasters. 17. No more phony, ineffective, inhumane so-called war on drugs (LEGALIZE IT!)Are those just too much to ask of the President of the United States???

I like Empire...in all of its various forms. Let's see, there's:1. Classic Empire. The executables are still floating around out there somewhere, but the graphics and whatnot haven't kept up with the pace of technology, so gameplay is ludicrous.2. World of Empire. A very nice update! Full global domination based the governments of our actual planet, but the game play is somewhat limited due to very limited attack strategies. Plus which...if you don't open well, your game is pretty much over in 8 minutes.3. Empire Deluxe. Classic Empire Redux. Not too shabby...and extremely addictive!4. Empire Deluxe Enhanced Edition. I really like this one. It has all new vehicles, weapons and attack strategies. Kudos to Killer Bee for this one! (Even has nuclear arsenal included)5. Lastly, Star Craft. I don't think they even realized what they were doing when the developed this game...but what's done is done. Star Craft is just Empire in space...with funky, tiny, pseudo-3D attacks to dominate sometimes miniscule maps. I like the 3 different races though. Worth a download and play.

I used to smoke...loved it...and when I did I used to smoke Camel Lights. One day, while enjoying my afternoon puff, I young Armenian woman was suddenly on me like Oprah on a baked ham. "DO YOU KNOW WHAT THEY DID TO MY PEOPLE??" 'Uhm, these cigarettes?' "NO! THE TURKS!!!" Needless to say, over the next 15 minutes, I got an unwanted history lesson designed to enlighten me as to the rich and turbulent history that is Turkey. I can tell you that young woman will never support Turkeys membership in the EU. On the flip side, my wife and I used to be very close to a dear man who was a history college professor. He LOVED Turkey - the architecture, food, culture, people, EVERYTHING. He would go for a visit every single chance he had. He's recently deceased now (massive coronary on the way to teaching a class) but I did have the fortune to discuss this issue with him prior to his departure. I was surprised to find out that he too did not support their membership! Basically he thought it was too much too soon and they had some house cleaning to do first. Personally, I think it's imperative that Turkey be given membership ASAP. It will go a LONG way towards reconciling the differences between our cultures and the present time and maybe help start the process of finding common grounds we can walk on. You're not going to get a much more balanced muslim point of view right now, from ANYWHERE, so I'm willing to overlook some rather nasty past history so perhaps we can have a bright future we can all look to. Those are my 2 cents.

A lot of the problem stems from the fact that generations don't pass down their wisdom like they used to. If you go back a few hundred years, young men would follow in their father's footsteps fairly carefully as their Dad would show them how to perform a specific trade and whatnot. Likewise, young women would follow in their Mom's footsteps and be shown the responsibilities of wife and mother. This is a VERY different time now! Our father's can show us very little in the way of a trade as the workplace of today is ever evolving. The roles of women in the world have changed dramatically over just the past 30 years, again making it unlikely that young women would glean anything useful from their Moms. So! Young people today enter a world in which there are few or NO role models for them as they're growing up. With nothing to model themselves after, a kind of rampant apathy has set in and no one really gives a rat's butt about what's happening tomorrow or in other parts of the globe that don't immediately affect them. THERE is where we have an opportunity though!Today's generation of youth CAN be saved simply by setting them up with a real world mentor that can show them the way of things in the here and NOW and provide them with the information necessary to determine how they can best contribute to your new global society. Finding the mentors is the problem though...as they're very few and far between.Certainly there's quite a few college professors that are helpful, so staying in school and getting into college is important. Quite a few successful business men are available via seminars and so forth, so keeping an eye on today's business mogels and the organizations they participate in are important. And, if it floats your boat, quite a few men of faith are helpful - providing real opportunities for young people to traverse the globe and help whole societies that are in desperate need of assistance. It's all about mentoring and having a mission. I haven't completely given up on today's youth...I just hope they keep an open mind in this time of apathy and are still receptive to the pearls of wisdom from middle-aged to old-aged mentors.

How Oj Simpson Did It Straight from the Horses Mouth
humanisfilth replied to Cerebral Stasis's topic in General Discussion
Yeah...haven't we all heard enough of this bozo??? I mean...seriously! We've ALL seen the grizzly footage and fotos of the crime scene and victims. We ALL watched the trial from beginning to end and we ALL know exactly what happened. For those of you that think justice was not served, I kind of disagree. For what it's worth, the case itself was grossly mishandled by the prosecution and THEY got exactly what they deserved, a Not Guilty verdict. Had I been on the jury, I'd have found exactly the same thing given the really *BLEEP* evidence chain and witnesses presented. It was a bad case, poorly investigated and poorly prosecuted. They left too much room for doubt and that sealed the deal. The clincher for me was telling OJ to put on the glove used to commit the murder....stupidest stunt EVER and it cost them the trial. So yeah, given the case presented, OJ got the correct verdict. But that doesn't mean he didn't do the crime...and in the Civil case, they did finally show in a coherent fashion that he was at the very least responsible for their deaths. Simple common sense tells you who did it....and his behavior after the trials (I'll never rest until I find the killers...T time is at 10 tomorrow, right??? LOL) nailed that coffin nice and shut.So we know who did it, when and how. The only mystery left at this point is how he FELT before, during and after. And I'm not setting myself up to get an honest answer in the fake scenario he's setting up for this book deal. I'm going ot wait until he's a totally broken, old man and finally breaks down one day from the guilt of it all and tells us ALL how haunted he's been ever since the day he cut his wife's head off. That will be worth 30-45 minutes out of my day. -
Well, this is going to sound cliche, but trust your HEART! Listen...if it looks like a duck, if it walks like a duck, if it talks like a duck...it's probably a duck!! LOL. What I mean is, if everything tells you that she's no longer to be trusted, then she isn't! Your heart is already telling you what you know is true...listen to it!I have a close, personal friend in the same boat - except he's been in a relationship for 5 years and is only now finding out what his girlfriend is REALLY like! Five years, man, and he's finding out she's text messaging other guys FROM THE BATHROOM and meeting them for dinner and drinks while he's away on business trips etc etc. Total horror show. From the sounds of it, the relationship already ended for her awhile ago. This is a very common occurance for women - they mentally break up with their man months before they physically do. You're seeing the phenomenon right before your eyes. Please don't set yourself up to be any more hurt than you already are. It sounds like you should be able to make a pretty clean break without anyone having super bad feelings....so send her a message stating you're not receiving the same level of affection you're giving and this isn't going to work out for you in the long run...then thank her for the opportunity to meet and get to know her and MOVE ON! Be nice, though...seriously. A guy that breaks up well is a guy other girls find really attractive for some reason. You might wind up scooping her best friend! HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!Good luck kiddo.

Congratulations on stopping smoking! I smoked for 15 years and I must admit that for most of that time I LOVED IT! During my time, I smoked EVERYTHING. Filtered, Unfiltered, Menthol, Clove etc etc. Towards the end, when my health began to decline significantly, I moved to the lower tar/nicotine "light" cigarettes...which I found out actually cause MORE damage, NOT less because smokers then tend to inhale more powerfully and deeply into the lungs. SO DO NOT DO THAT! You can try the gum or the patches if you want...but you'll find as I did that you're just trading one for the oehter. I wound up hooked on the gum for 2 years before my last hospitilization, when I was cut off from all nicotine sources and went through complete withdrawal de facto. Once I was away from it for a solid month, I found I was able to avoid it altogether forever. If you're not going cold turkey already, DO IT NOW!! No matter what anyone tells you, it's the only real, guaranteed method to quit and STAY QUIT. Again, expect a month of general crabbiness and cravings...but with every day they become less and less annoying. As far as your health improvement goes, this is a VERY SERIOUS ISSUE that you MUST discuss with your doctor!!! See...as I found out the hard way, simply quitting does not guarantee there will be ANY improvements. The damage to your lungs from smoking and disease has likely resulted in scar tissue in your lungs. This scar tissue can cause all manner of very serious disease and since you've already had TB, it's likely your lungs are already at risk and you'll need follow up care once the tar and mucus clear out. You HAVE to get a chest scan right now so your doctor can see where you're at today. A few weeks from now, he'll do a follow up to see your progress. What he'll see at that time is SIGNIFICANT clearing of the lungs and what's left over is the long term damage you folks need to work on. I don't see how you won't have some degree of scarring from the TB alone...nevermind the smoking. You have NO idea what a smart idea it was to quit NOW, you're probably adding decades to your life. Your doctor may actually suggest surgery to correct the leftover damage. It's the same surgery Bill Clinton had after his heart surgery...they corrected scar tissue they found in his lung from other disease processes. Post corrective surgery, you'll breath easier and your whole outlook will improve.Your heart rate and hyperacidity should improve during the next few weeks as well, but a short run with some Atenolol and Protonix might be in order. Those should balance and heal any issues with your heart rate and GI tract....and neither has any notable side effects (other than you feeling WAY better). Please talk to your doctor about testing and/or preventative measures for emphysema as well. Your medical history warrants it.Whatever you do...live each day forward as a NON-Smoker. Robin Williams had a brilliant bit of dialogue in the movie "Dead Again"..'Someone is either a smoker or a non-smoker, there's no in-between. The trick is to find out which one you are and be that.' Go forth and LIVE!

Do Viruses Damage The Hardware
humanisfilth replied to zain500's topic in Security issues & Exploits
My Aunt bought a fairly high end system about 6 months ago and brought it home with most of the essentials up and running. Unfortunately, she's not really computer savvy and so she made one little, tiny, error in judgement - never installed any kind of Virus protection. So I get a call on a Thursday afternoon "Can you come by and take a look at my computer? It's just shutting down all by itself!" I didn't know at the time that she hadn't put any virus protection on it.So I arrived on Friday, booted the machine up, and played around with it for over an hour...with no problems whatsoever. THEN, I went into a free game that she'd downloaded recently and suddenly everything started going whacky. It sputtered, wheezed and WHAM! Off it went.It booted right back up again and stayed up until I accessed another game from the same section of the Start Menu. I noticed then that there was no virus protection so I downloaded AVGs free stuff and I'll be a monkey's uncle if it didn't go right back to normal. So, in answer to your query - YES, there are viruses that mess with hardware. To fix problems like that, make sure you get the latest and greatest virus defs and run a full system scan. Then, turn the machine off, PULL THE BATTERY and listen for the capacitors to let go of their charge. There's usually a very high pitch, soft whine when that happens and the machine becomes noticably more still. That gets rid of anything that might hide on the mother board and cards. Boot back up and run a full system scan AGAIN...you should be fine after that. I'd run your preferred adware program in the process too, just to get rid of all the nasties. -
Windows Vista (build 5308) What is happening to Windows ?...
humanisfilth replied to adriantc's topic in Software
Vista is too little, too late. I saw the the press conference where they announced the switch from "longhorn" to Vista. That in itself was a desperate attempt to distract everyone from the fact that they haven't released anything meaningful since XP - but it did give the next generation O/S concept a 2nd chance in the market place. Was everyone rewarded for their patience and understanding? LOL...hardly. It's quite true that 80% was recoded...what's scarier is how much was cut and abandoned so they could release SOMETHING! They're just so behind schedule with this product release that they're forced to evolve rather than revolutionize. That's actually not a bad thing really, given their really awful QA system.Let Vista go to market...I guarantee it will be just like ME (Windows ceMEnt) and die an awful, awful death. But SO many bugs will get shaken out! Then, in the next release - you'll see real changes...rife with new bugs...but 6 months from then I anticipate something wonderful - provided there's affordable hardware to support it!!! They do seem to keep forgetting that people can't keep upgrading their entire computer system every year.My advice for most of you is to hang onto your present machine and ENJOY IT. Save up all your nickles and pennies until mid year 2008 and THEN buy a whole new machine. I expect by then that they'll have something really keen to show off. -
What Would You Do If There Was No Internet? hmm...
humanisfilth replied to whyme's topic in Science and Technology
I'd be a WHOLE LOT HEALTHIER! I can tell you that. The internet is probably the single greatest technological development since the wheel. It's bringing the world together in cyber space and in real space. But what if it weren't here?1. I'd be doing a LOT more music stuff. Probably composing keyboard music and actually trying to put a band together. But music today is very confusing...another topic for another day however.2. I'd be READING a lot more! I had a 5 year stretch where I found it necessary to read all the greats: Salinger, Kafka, Hesse, Hunter S. Thompson blah blah blah blah blah. Then came the internet...no more reading for me! (and that's kinda sad)3. Watching TV. Is there anything good left on TV any more? I mean, besides Adult Swim on the Cartoon Network...which is the COOLEST THING IN THE UNIVERSE!4. Scoring with chicks (in my dreams...I'm married now). But seriously...when I was "unplugged", I was meeting a LOT more women...REAL WOMEN...with a pulse and everything! LOL.5. Traveling. It's way to easy to just point and click somewhere now and be transported across the Globe and that's NOT a good thing! Seeing it on a screen is not the same as breathing the air, tasting the food and hearing the musical din of it all.In summation, if there were no internet, I'd probably be doing a lot more meaningful, interesting things with my life....maybe. It's possible I'd just be pasted to a couch watching old movies and dreaming about what the world would be like with a single communication path for all of humanity...and drunk...so very drunk. -
I'm extremely sensitive to anyone being labelled "disabled". So when I see some huge, fat MONSTER pasted to their mattress, unable to move because they can't stop shoving hamburgers and pizza down their throat...I become SICK WITH RAGE. Please understand...I UNDERSTAND that there are genetic and psychological factors at play that mitigate what those folks have to go through...but at SOME POINT...SOMEWHERE DOWN THE LINE...WHEN THEY'RE UNABLE TO GET OUT OF BED ANY MORE...then THEY HAD TO HAVE A CLUE they needed to change and something had to give. I'm sorry, but at that point, they have CHOSEN to be a big, fat slob and ruin their life. And CHOOSING to be like that should negate the possibility of there being any disability benefits available. They're NOT disabled...they're FAT. Lock 'em in a room with a water source and let nature take its course. They'll lose the weight...and get out of bed so they can go on a Burger King run again. Hopefully but then - they'll actually seek help for the factors that cause them to suffer...but MAN...they can CHOOSE to lose weight! I cannot choose to switch my rogue autoimmune factors off...retarded people cannot choose to repair their genetics...cerebral palsy victims cannot choose to gain control over their muscles and walk normally again....we are permanently disabled and have to find a way to live with it. I saw a show in PBS recently about diabetes becoming rampant on Native Indian reservations now...because, starting in their youth, men and women are now choosing to eat pizza and burgers instead of their traditional foods. In one woman's case, she was TOLD 7 years ahead of time that if she continued to eat badly, her diabetes would get so bad, her kidneys would fail. Did she choose to eat better and stay healthy? NO! And now she's permanently plugged into a dialysis machine. Is she disabled? Well, NOW she is...YES! BUT IT WAS TOTALLY AVOIDABLE! All she had to do when she was FAT was to LOSE THE WEIGHT and stay healthy...simply by eating right!! That really got under my skin. So, in answer to your question. No, simply being fat is not a disability. Fat people will tell you it does...and that we're all "fatists" now...and that we should accomodate their need for two seats and movie theaters and airplanes. And I should be the most sympathetic person in the world to them...but again...they HAVE CHOICES!!! It makes me sick(er) knowing that they can fix themselves but do not. So I'm sorry...they can't have two seats any more, because I need that other seat for my living assistant. They can't use the special chairs put in place to help me get up stairs...they can WALK and maybe LOSE SOME WEIGHT. I say all of this with some of my tongue in cheek...but mostly because I hope it inspires the anger and rage in enough overweight people to actually DO SOMETHING TO CHANGE THEMSELVES. And, PLEASE, for your own sake...DO! If you are overweight and find you simply can't lose the weight and keep it off...here are some WONDERFUL resources to help you. You are loved...you can do it...and you ARE WORTH IT! Obesity Treatment Resources

I got ahold of Doom 3 on day 1 of its release and when I got home, I found my video card couldn't handle it. LOL! So it was off to upgrade my beloved ATI. Once I got something akin to a decent resolution/speed, I found it to still be too dark a game....very poor lighting used in its development...but I was soon hooked on the story and genuine creepiness. DOOM 3!Next, Neverwinter Nights. I know...NWN2 is coming out already in dribs and drabs. But I just got hooked up with it after a recent surgery, when I knew I was going to get stuck in bed for a LONG time. So it was a perfect game. Took forever to play and it was pretty cool.Empire Deluxe Enhanced Edition. This is a retread of the 1980s Empire DOS game...and it's AWESOME! I'm totally addicted. I just wish I could afford the full license...bit pricey at like 40 bucks....so I'm sticking with the 35 minute timed Demo for now...it's a nice challenge to try and beat the computer in that time anyway.Scrabble Complete...because chicks love guys with a huge "vocabulary". LOL.Last, but not least, Luxor Mahjong. Cause it's got cool Adventure Games on top of the standard solitaire nonsense.

Anything in excess is bad. Seriously! Water, for instance. If you drink too much water in too short a time, then you de-salinate your bloodstream and it becomes incapable of supporting all of the necessary metabolism for human life. SO! Don't drink too much water!I get x-rays periodically and THOSE I worry about....especially chest CAT scans and bone scans. They literally bathe your body in radiation and that can lead to cell division anomolies...or DNA mutation..which leads to a malignancy.Very strong EM, RF fields can also interfere with proper cell division, causing errors in replication that lead to unwanted growths. Anyone who tells you otherwise is lying. However...these are VERY rare and your exposure really does need to be significant for something like that to happen...unlike x-ray, or ultraviolet radiation...whose rays can cause cellular anomolies fairly quickly. So it's all about mitigating your exposure and knowing which kinds of energy are most dangerous to you. Some folks can drop dead just standing next to a microwave! Some words of advice?1. Avoid archaic x-rays if at all possible...MRIs are MUCH more effective and less risky and their costs are coming down.2. Limit your skin exposure to ultraviolet light whenever possible. At the beach? Wear BLOBS of high SPF sunscreen and a hat! Tans aren't sexy...they cause wrinkles and melanoma.3. Don't move next to power distribution stations or power lines. THEY POSE VERY REAL RISKS - particularly to children!!4. Keep your distance from strong RF signals...even cell phones are reported to have links to skin cancer....so keep it small and let the network amplify your signal for you...only the smallest possible signal from your cell phone is actually necessary.

Free Web Templates free templates for everyone
humanisfilth replied to luciafree's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Well, I got stuck initially just using the Templates that came with Frontpage and, frankly, those were HORRIBLE! In particular, their feedback pages don't seem to work ANYWHERE! Even with fully functional form e-mail on my servers, a rogue login/password screen comes up (to login WHERE I have absolutely NO idea - neither do two of my ISPs), so the text goes nowhere. I find this really disappointing from such a HUGE monolith of software development. I mean...it's a text dump for cryin' out loud! Just e-mail it! (Although I actually prefer a csv or tab database so you can mess with it in Brio or whatever afterwards) The sites you've listed do have some neat templates. I liked this one: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ It reminded me a bit of the Blizzard site, which is easily navigable for files, updates etc. I do agree many of them are complete shite however....but that's to be expected. Their intended audience is corporate e-commerce, so they're gonna push anything and everything that will get folks to look and feel like Vehix.Com...so they can feel good about themselves. LOL. If you need templates, then this seems to be a decent start. Personally, I STRONGLY recommend you pick up an HTML for dummies book and start one from scratch for yourself. You'll learn a LOT more along the way...and start getting into cool stuff like RSS integration and HTML/PHP mixes. Go forth and expand your brains! Don't be spoon fed! You'll be happier at night...I promise. -
Sure thing. Here's a link to the Bach "essences" site...there's a good description of how each one impacts a person based on their physiology next to each one. Again...I don't know WHY they work...I just know that in my case, one particular one did...and quite well actually. I was able to wean off of Celexa as a result of it! As for herbal tea...you can't go wrong with Celestial Seasonings...not in my book. I'm really ticked off that they discontinued one of their teas though...was called "Emperor's Choice." It had cinnamon and ginseng in it and it kicked butt with honey in it. Now they have "Tension Tamer"...which is too bitter for my liking....but to each his own.

Girls And Bathrooms. You always wanted to know...
humanisfilth replied to hedzup's topic in Science and Technology
It's all about the farts n giggles! Seriously! First of all, they're VERY social creatures and loathe doing anything alone....even cutting a nice, warm muffin. SO! They go in together, SIT (which we don't usually do), have a pee, a fart and a giggle. Then they sit in front of the mirror...adjust each other, primp and preen like monkeys, and get ready to come out any WOW us again.I try not to think about these things too deeply, because the biology is rather disgusting. I mean...it's possible I'm going home to much on that carpet in a bit and it's just been hung in a public bathroom. How horrible! Simply being reminded that they're HUMAN as well as gorgeous and beautiful and desirable is difficult enough. Knowledge of the Land of the Loo is just too much. I'd advise thinking about it at all. LOL.I mean...can you IMAGINE if WE did that? "Hey, Barthold...let's go and have us a good splash n swirl together...eh?" NO! I go into the bathroom for ONE REASON...TO PURGE! I don't want to talk to anyone while I'm doing it (since it usually requires some effort on my part anyway) and, frankly, I have no desire to be subjected to the smells of your body eliminating itself...nor you to be experiencing mine. So! Leave the mystery of the ladies in the water closet to the Muses. Let it be a mystery for the ages. Let us remember them at their utmost best...freshly showered and sprawled out on a warm, laundered blanket....wearing nothing but a very wide smile. mmmmmmmmmmmm...smile.... -
As they presently seem to be keeping themselves wisely niched in different areas of IT, I don't see either outstripping the other. HOWEVER, Google has been buying up a whole lotta dark fiber (unused comm lines) and it would appear they have something VERY BIG in the works. If they do become bigger than Microsoft, it won't be in the PC area...but rather networking and services related to PCs.On the other side of the coin...if Google doesn't toss something wonderful out there in the next year or two...Microsoft may very well falter with their Vista product. It's already hella late to market and there's no screaming KUDOS coming out of Beta testing...I see potentially bad things on the horizon there. Additionally, I know of at least 2 major companies that just finished investing SO heavily in getting everything to be XP complaint, there's NO WAY they're going to begin Vista conversions until at least late 2007 if not well into 2008. Why would they given Microsoft's track record of release, discovery of billions of bugs, followed by re-release. I'm not upgrading until my present computer comes to a grinding, screeching halt...or until it becomes necessary to play Doom 9 or Quake 11.
