  1. My Gmail account was actually superior to my work account and I worked for a BIG **bottom** company until this past April. Anyway...work gave me like 70 meg of disk space for my mail...which was laughable and got gobbled up every day. It was a maintenance nightmare. SO! I started giving out my gmail address, which even looks professional as most people go by the first name.last name convention, AND I had 2 GIG of mail space! Mind you...individual e-mails are still limited in size, you can't send a 2 gig e-mail anywhere (thank heavens!), but it's still the best damned free mail service around.AND, they're NOT going anywhere! Anyone ever have a Netscape.Net mail acccount before? I did! I USED to use it for EVERYTHING! Then I got sick and went in hospital for a couple of weeks...got out...and NO MORE NETSCAPE.NET mail! NONE! When they merged with AOL, they cruelly kicked all of their mail users in the knubblies and told them it was clearly in their EUSA, stale accounts could be terminated at any time. Disgusting, HORRIBLE business practice. Don't hold your breath with your AOL mail either...that's not gonna last long and I guarantee it.The only thing I don't like about Gmail? No folders. I hate that. THEY THINK that their labeling system is better. I just can't disagree more. In conjunction with folders, labels would work AWESOME. Isn't that how it works in the REAL WORLD?? Imagine an office with a bunch of labels all over kingdom come...with no folders to put them or your mail into...that's just silly! I think it has something more to do with creating gajillions of subdirectories on their servers (which I totally understand), but their stated reason is specious at best.My advice? Gmail ist goot!
  2. I am SO sorry, man! Well, part of your problem is that you're using the new IE 7. If you can roll it back to 6, I would STRONGLY advise you do so. 7 is proving to be RIFE with bugs and you're likely looking at one of them. I always wait at least 6 months before I upgrade a Microsoft product because their QA stinks to high heavens. Once you roll back, de-install and re-install your player. OH! Also...have you tried out a free FLV, SWF player? BTW...the latest and greatest Macromedia is here and it's version 9. Have you tried another browser as well? Firefox might prove much more useful to you...AND there are some VERY useful plugins that would allow you to easily store your favorite videos locally so you're not relying on a stream all the time. All of this is probably academic however. Anyone see today that YouTube just yanked 30,000 Comedy Central clips due to "copyright violations"? We're talking about a network that BRAGS about its YouTube presence...that LOVES IT! Seems their big, fat corporate owner disagreed however and sent a cease and desist order to GOOGLE. Didn't we all see this coming? Anyway...that should be a new topic...yes? If I could only create a new topic....
  3. There are herbal remedies you can try as well. There's a neat company called Bach Flowers that provides some stuff I've found really useful. I suffer from an autoimmune response that's eating my joints and leaves me in a good deal of discomfort on a daily basis - so I've literally tried just about EVERYTHING to keep myself on an even keel and not worry about everything. For me, what worked was an essence called "Gorse". I thought the whole thing was actually a bit hoakie in the beginning, but after trying it for a week...I actually started to feel better! What works for one person is literally useless to the next - so poke around on some herbal remedy sites and see if anything catches your eye.I like herbal teas too...the chamomile blends are pretty good. My favorite is Sweet Dreams...with Sleepy Time a close second. I find I can't sleep sometimes without a cup (totally NOT addictive btw...but their calming effect is quite real).Last, but not least, go to your nearest library or book store and pick up some books on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. It trains your mind to break cycles of negative thinking and focus on more positive thoughts and experiences. VERY helpful. OH, and nature's natural cure for stress is always there as well. You know what I mean...takes two people...creates cravings for pancakes afterwards...etc. LOL.Good luck to you and STOP WORRYING!
  4. OK. First, please make sure you have ALL your music ripped to your HD. I have a mega, gigantor, external drive that lives only for that purpose. Second, go visit Shoutcast and Winamp! They are the KINGS of self-made internet radio. Obtain the software they provide for FREE and you'll be up and running in no time. More specifically, follow these steps: 1. Go here: Winamp Player and get the latest and greatest player. Using Winamp, you will be both playing your music AND streaming it over the internet using the shoutcast local server software. 2. Go here: Shoutcast Server and get the local server software for shoutcast. After you install it (fast and easy), you need to configure it so it works with Winamp. The instructions on this URL should get you started....but you may need more hand holding. 3. Go here: Winamp/Shoutcast DSP and get the Winamp plugin that "ties together" Winamp and the Shoutcast server. This URL should also have enough instructions to get you started, but again, you may need some additional info. I had my radio station set up and broadcasting in about 12 minutes...it really is that easy. After the nuts and bolts are in place, you can start messing around with all the features and get your favorite personal web page involved and get links up on various web sites so folks can just click and start listening. Anyway - there you go, there it is....GO FORTH AND MAKE GOOD RADIO! If you need anything at all, please don't hesitate to ask. Interesting...Internet radio must be making some kind of resurgance...anyway...lookie here! Someone already wrote a GREAT tutorial for you right here on the forums! Internet Radio Tutorial
