  1. A few years ago I used to play competetive soccer almost every day. I would have two to three hour long soccer practices after school on top of the stuff I had to do in PE class. I was very fit and very healthy. Then I quit very suddenly mostly because I didn't make the age requirement to keep playing with the soccer buds. Since then I've never been that active. I do surf, hike, bike, and frisbee golf but not as frequently as I think I should. I think I'm going start playing some pick-up games with some friends though to start getting back into it.
  2. I use Windows the most simply because it is the OS most available at home, school, and most people's houses. I use Mac OS 10 on a G4 for recording music however and it runs really smooth.
  3. Ya man, the blue is way better. The green was too intense. The image is super smooth and I like how Mario is getting sucked in. Pretty slick man. What program do you use to make your banners? I definately want to learn how to do that.
  4. Californication was the title track off of the Red Hot Chili Peppers album Californication. Californication was realeased in 1999. It was a great album and had several successful singles. All of the band members (Anthony Kiedis, Michael "Flea" Balzary, John Frusciante, and Chad Smith) are amazing musicians as they are often voted as some of the greatest musicians. I've found that a lot of the "better" music doesn't actually get into the top ten very often.
  5. I just saw Without A Paddle. It wasn't the greatest movie ever but it was pretty funny. One funny thing is that Burt Reynolds is in it and plays this old and very hairy man who has lived in the Oregan woods for 30 years waiting for some guy. Also, Dax, one of the guys from the show Punked was in it. I have to say that he did a good job for his first lead role. Anyway, this movie is a good one to see with friends. later.
  6. Hey everyone. I am currently trying to learn a foreign language and was wondering if you could tell me the best ways to learn a language fast. Obviously, it takes many years to really learn a language but I'm going to Italy and Spain this summer and I want to be able to converse in the native tongue. As of right now I can carry minimal conversations. Any help would be appreciated.
  7. This is one of my favorite Third Eye Blind songs. Hope you enjoy!GOD OF WINE (Jenkins, Cadogan)Every thought that I repent, There's another chip you haven't spent, And you're cashing them all in, Where do we begin. To get clean again, Can we get clean again. I walk home alone with you, And the mood you're born into, Sometimes you let me in, And I take it on the chin. I can't get clean again. I want to know, Can we get clean again, The God of Wine comes crashing through, The headlights of a car that took you farther than you thought you'd ever want to go, We can't get back again, We can't get back again, She takes a drink and then she waits, The alcohol it permeates. And soon the cells give way, And cancels out the day, I can't keep it all together, I know...I can't keep it all together, And the siren's song that is your madness, Holds a truth I can't erase, All alone on your face, Every glamorous sunrise, Throws the planets out of line, A star sign out of whack A fraudulent zodiac. And the God of Wine is crouched down in my room, You let me down, I said it, Now I'm going down, And you're not even around. And I said no...I can't keep it all together, I know...I can't keep it all together, And there's a memory of a window, Looking through I see you. Searching for something,I could never give you, And there's someone who understands you, More than I do. A sadness I can't erase. All alone on your face.
  8. College will definately help "round you out" that is it will educate you about a wide range of topics so that if you wish to pursue a related field you will already have a base to start from. I'm currently attending college and have found that from taking a variety of classes I have realized that they are very much interrelated. I found that many of the skills I learned in one class could be directed applied in another. So I guess any skill you learn can prove invaluble if applied at the right time and to the right situation.
  9. Man this is one of my favorite songs. The lyrics are beautiful, genius in fact. You know how people say that our parents generation had Led Zeppelin well I'm proud to say that we had the Smashing Pumpkins. Billy Corgan knew how to write epic songs that to me are timeless yet capture how I felt when I was growing up. Kudos to the Pumpkins for their life-altering/awakening music!
  10. I use DSL. It is pretty fast and has a very consistent speed. The only problem is that with my modem I can't network it. I have a friend who has cable and his connection (which was the basic package) is faster than my connection. Although the fact that he doesn't live in a heavily populated city probably makes it that way as I have heard that for cable the bandwidth is shared amonst a neighborhood.
  11. Just saw a Korean swordplay movie called Sword in the Moon. This movie has some killer fighting in it and the special effects look very real. It is also an interesting window on Korean culture. Very interesting storyline about two best friends who become enemies and then at the end reunite. If your into foreign movies with subtitles Sword in the Moon would be a great choice.
  12. I use AntiVir because it is free and has frequent updates for new virus definitions and program improvements. It also has an antivirus guard that scans active files. It is a quick download and quick install. I haven't had a single problem with it. Also, I use Sygate Personal Firewall, which is free, without any problems. I would say that if you don't want to spend any money for antivirus then download Antir, AVG or Avast otherwise go for Norton or McAffee as they are hands down the better software.
  13. ya it s pretty much the worst computer we've ever had. I use an older Emachine model with Windows 98 and it runs sooo much better (although it s not a very good computer in itself). Dell really does use the cheapest parts!
  14. My family recently got a Dell. After a few boots, a Windows Media Player popup came up and asked if I wanted to install it. I clicked yes and proceeded on. Ever since then I have grown to regret that decision because now the program won't go away. It loads up every time I log onto to the computer and it takes forever. I tried removing it but then after a boot the software would reload it. As far as I know I don't have any virus. Anyone know of any way to get rid of it?
  15. This is a message to everyone. Listen to what you want to listen to. There will always be forces pushing and pulling you towards all sorts of stuff. The key is to LISTEN to the music and find out for YOURSELF what you think. And always try to approach new music with an open mind. In this way you will less likely filter out music that you could potentially love.
  16. The Power of the Equality is great song by The Red Hot Chili Peppers and is the opening track to the Blood Sugar Sex Magic album. If you don't have this album you should give it a try cause it is considered one of the greatest rock albums ever created. The Power of the EqualityI've got a soulThat cannot sleepAt night when somethingJust ain't rightBlood redBut without sightExploding egosIn the nightMix like sticksOf dynamiteRed black or whiteThis is my fightCome on courageLet's be heardTurn feelingsInto wordsAmerican equalityHas always been sourAn attitudeI would like to devourMy name is peaceThis is my hourCan I getJust a little bit of powerThe power of equalityIs not yet what it ought to be (ought to be)It fills me up like a hollow tree (hollow tree)The power of equalityRight or wrongMy song is strongYou don't like itGet alongSay what I wantDo what I canDeath to the messageOf the Ku Klux KlanI don't buy supremacyMedia chiefYou menace meThe people you say'Cause all the crimeWake up mother*BLEEP*erAnd smell the slimeBlackest angerWhitest fearCan you hear meAm I clearMy name is peaceThis is my hourCan I getJust a little bit of powerThe power of equalityIs not yet what it ought to be (ought to be)It fills me up like a hollow tree (hollow tree)The power of equalityI've got tapesI've got CD'sI've got my public enemyMy lilly white assIs tickled pinkWhen I listen to the musicThat makes me thinkNot anotherMother*BLEEP*in' politicianDoin' nothin' but somethingFor his own ambitionNever touchThe sound we makeSoul sacred loveVows that we takeTo create straightWhat is trueYo he's with meAnd what I doMy name is peaceThis is my hourCan I getJust a little bit of powerThe power of equalityIs not yet what it ought to be (ought to be)It fills me up like a hollow tree (hollow tree)The power of equalityMadder than a mother*BLEEP*erLick my fingerCan't forget'Cause the memory lingersCount 'em off quickLittle piccadilly sicknessTake me to the hickEat my thicknessI've got a weltFrom the bible beltDealing with the handThat I've been dealtSitting in the gripOf a killing fistGiving up bloodJust to existRub me wrongAnd I get pissedNo I cannotGet to thisPeople in painI do not dig itChange of brainFor Mr BigotLittle brother do you hear meHave a heart oh come get near meMisery is not my friendBut I'll break before I bendWhat I see is insanityWhat ever happened to humanityWhat ever happened to humanityWhat ever happened to humanity--------------------------------------Hope you enjoy the song!
  17. I like Linkin Park and I had the chance to see them live during their recent Project Revolution tour. Korn, Snoop Dogg, The Used, and Less Than Jake were also there. Likin Park headlined. Linkin Park is sooo good live. They are one of the tightest (most together) bands that I have ever seen. Although their music is very simple it is also very powerful and moving.I also really like the MTV Mash-Up with Linkin Park and Jay Z. I thought that what they did was interesting and refreshing.
  18. I read the Da Vinci Code a couple of months ago and I really liked it. It is full of colorful history, imagery, suspense, love, life, etc. It is very well written. Quite a page turner. I got hooked into the book right away and found that I just couldn't put it down. I would actually make something to eat while reading at the same time. I must say though that the story is very compelling and almost all of the information introduced is very convincing. However, I must stress as others have already that the book IS A WORK OF FICTION. I remember that after reading the book I thought: "How much of history can we really believe?" ... "How do we know what really happened in the past?" ... "How much of history has been altered by people of special interest groups?"Anyway I think that this book is definately worth reading.
  19. Electronic music is mos definately cutting edge. It is continually creating new worlds of sound. I for one love a lot of the electronic music coming out. I'm not one to really hate any flavor of music although I happen to dislike a lot of country music. But, I've noticed that some of the best musicians play country music.I think the major difference between electronic instruments and other instruments (strings, woodwinds, drums, etc) is that in electronic instruments the sound that is produced was already pre-recorded or predefined whereas in an instrument such as a guitar there is much more of a personal "touch" that defines the sound. What I mean by all this is that with the guitar there is a much more "real" interaction between the musician and the instrument at the moment a note is played. The sound that is produced by the guitar is often refered to as more "real" because it depends on the intention of the musician at that moment (i.e. the characteristics of the sound produced depends on how the guitarist strikes the strings). I think the reason why a lot of people prefer live bands with traditional band instruments is because they feel as though it is a more "real" connection. However, you could argue that anyone that is playing any sort of instrument, and thereby interacting with it, is creating a very real and unique music. In my opinion, I think what it all really comes down to is preference. People just prefer what they prefer, I guess.Oh and I just want to say that this is a challenging topic to write about and I would enjoy any criticism or additions.
  20. Firefox is definately my favorite browser. There are so many things about it that make it better than Internet Explorer. The tabbing feature makes surfing a lot easier in that it keeps all of your opened links in convenient tabs below the address bar. This gets rid of the need for several windows. Also, the built-in downloader allows you to pause and/or resume downloads. The most important thing about Firefox is that it is one of the most secure browsers out there (much more secure than IE) and USERS of the program help to update it. Oh ya, and isn't Firefox a hot name?
  21. Ya man, Chrono Trigger was an awesome game. It had some cool, super smooth graphics. I remember playingI would have to say that my favorite game is Indiana Jones and the Fate Of Atlantis partly because it gave the user so much freedom to do what they wanted. The cool thing about the game was that you could beat the gave in three different ways: with brute force (who can resist a good 'ole boxing match?), with thinking, and through massive amounts of dialogue(requires a bit more patience but you learn a lot more about the game). And you could also choose to work as a team with Sophia or work solo. The game had a very good mix of wit and humour as well as seriousness. I remember staying up till early hours many a days playing this game. (single tear) ... Those were the days...
  22. Hey everyone. Just wanted to know what everyone's favorite OLDSHOOL RPG'sare. When I say "Oldschool" I mean any games from the 90's. I would have to say that my favorite games preatty much all come from LucasArts. My favorite games include: Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max Hit the Road, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, The Dig (Very hard and very brainy game),and KingsQuest VI.Anyway, looking forward to seeing your posts.
  23. Had a chance to play Fable at a friends house a few days ago. It was fun to play but very addicting. I only played enough to starttraining at the castle. Anyway, the graphics and sounds are preatty smoothand the game has a traditional RPG structure. You start out as a little boy in a small village and you must do so called "good deeds" and such so that you can earn some money to buy your sister a present ... I don't want to ruin it for you guys so I'm not going to tell anymore of the storyline. However, I will say that if you like RPG's that allow you to be super good, super evil, and everywhere in between, and have the patience and ability to play 15 hour sessions (cause it is sooo addictive) then by all means get the game.
  24. This is my first post....Anyway...I've tried free hosting from several different providers and the one thing that I really didn't like was the FORCED ADS. I can't stand them. Especially the ones that are all flashy and take up a huge chunk of the screen.
