I agree with dre that Corsair is the best overall choice for memory. 1st in my book as far as performance and longevity. With Corsair you can throw it in about any system and it'll work for you, which is nice, seems to be compatible with about anything.

Hey all,I checked out the Hosting Credits FAQ and did not find a explanation to my problem so I am posting here:My account was recently suspended due to negative hosting credits. As requested I increased my balance to more than 4 credits. I have had approx. 7.1 credits for about 10 hours now, and my account has still not be reactivated. I noticed in the FAQ that once accounts are back to a positive 4 credit balance, they are automatically reactivated. It does mention that it can take longer due to server load though.Is there server just under extremely heavy load today? Or am I missing something about reactivating my hosting account? Thanks for your help everyone.

I have a few comments regarding Saint Michael's comments that you may want to take into consideration. He is very right about going with the E6750 processor, its dual core, and very easily overclocked. Quad core is a little over rated right now, and by the time it comes into practical use, prices will be down significantly. The new line of Core 2 Duo processors that the E6750 is part of also features 1066Mhz FSB's. This makes a difference when multitasking. Just make sure you have a motherboard that supports 1066Mhz. And as far as your RAM, Saint Michael, he was looking for 4GB, both of those 2 suggestions were 2GB sets. I recently upgraded my own system (yesterday, actually) to 4GB of RAM. I went with the Corsair XMS DDR2 800 DHX modules in a 2x2Gb setup. There is a huge difference, especially in Vista. I'm not sure if you're planning on running Vista, but if you are and have 4GB of memory, its much better to go with a 64-bit version of Vista. If you install 4GB of memory in a 32-bit Vista, it only recognizes about 3.5GB. As for your cooling, unless you realllllly know what you're doing, I wouldn't throw extra money into liquid cooling. This seems to be a fairly standard system setup, and sufficient air cooling would work fine. Invest in a decent Zalman CPU cooler, and a couple extra case fans and your temps should be perfectly fine. A motherboard is very important when buying your system, because if the specs do not match all your component speeds, spending extra on some of those other components will be pointless. I have always been faithful to ASUS and Gigabyte motherboards in the past, and have never been disappointed. They are a bit more expensive, but you do get what you pay for when it comes to a mobo. The ASUS P5W-DH is probably one of the best models out there for Core 2 Duo with 1066Mhz FSB. I agree with the fact that something in the 650W-700W power supply range would work well for your system. The link Saint Michael provided with power supplies are all priced between $75-100, and if you're looking for reliable power in that wattage range, lets face it, $75-100 on a power supply isn't going to last. I would recommend sticking to brands such as Thermaltake, Silverstone, and Antec. They are reliable PSU's, that still provide a good value. Also won't have to replace them in 6 months like some other cheap models. I would recommend 2 out of the 4 graphics cards Saint Michael recommended, both 8 series nvidia cards would be fine. The thing about the 8 series cards is that they support DirectX 10, and the older 7 series cards do not. In the future, when everything is DX10, you'll be glad you went with an 8 series card. Couldn't agree more with the sound card recommendations you have been getting, unless you have some special surround sound speak setup on your computer, the motherboard integrated sound is perfectly fine. It's actually getting pretty decent these days, and you don't need to drop another $150 into a sound card to get something decent. I was very impressed with Bungie could do with the added power of the Xbox 360 rather than the old Xbox. They definitely made Halo 3 much more visually appealing, but as for the "feel" of the game, its seemed to have changed.If I'm not mistaking (correct me if I'm wrong), but Halo 3 is the first game of the series produced on the Unreal Tournament physics engine. The motions of Master Chief just feel different. I can't really put my finger on it, but isn't the same "arcade style" game play like Halo 2 had. As for a Halo movie, there were talks last year after Halo 2 had been out for awhile about producing a Halo movie, it was actually getting serious consideration, but then I heard they dropped the project. Hopefully they've changed their mind though, I would love to see Master Chief on the big screen..

For anyone interested in what AMD will be producing later this year, AnandTech has written an article detailing the next generation processor from Texas. http://www.anandtech.com/ Personally I'm rather looking forward to what's coming, though the question right now is not whether it will be enough to topple the Core 2 or even if it has come quickly enough, but whether AMD can pick up its pace and continue to give Intel a run for its money. As the article points out, during the Netburst generation AMD had become somewhat slack in updating its product line, meanwhile Intel was rapidly accelerating with its developments of Dothan, Yonah etc. to finally come out with Conroe.

I feel that I use my mobile for more of a convenience thing, its great if I'm on the road or away from home, but if I had the choice of course I'd much rather do work on a desktop or my notebook. The good thing about a cell phone is the portability, try carrying around a laptop with instant access to messages/emails/the internet like you can with a good cell phone. Although there are new cell service provider notebook wireless cards, service plans are still a bit pricey for a decent amount of data transfer.Cell phones aren't going anywhere, and if you want to get away from the constant distraction just turn it off! Duh. Haha

Yea, what do you mean by "adjustable"? If it is the height adjustment that dre was getting at there are other companies out there that offer a 20" height adjustable LCD. Look at brands such as Acer and Samsung. If by "adjustable" you mean something like resolution (which I hope not, haha), of course other monitors are adjustable. Thats something the computer controls, not the monitor.

Vista is a bit buggy, but eventually I suppose everything will move to it, so I think we're stuck working through little errors until MS can work out a service pack. Remember XP before SP2? There were many problems with security, accessibility, ect. I understand not as bad as Vista is now, but things will get better with time.If it bothers you that much, stick with XP for a little while longer then upgrade once the numerous problems have been worked out.

Right now its worth just sticking with duo. The operating systems and programs are not taking advantage of the 2 extra cores, and by the time they do, prices will be way down. Better to just wait it out then, in my opinion...

Running 1920X1200 here on 24" Widescreen monitor. Can be a little hard on the eyes on time I suppose, but really good for multitasking. Can run multiple spreadsheets, windows, ect. next to each other, so worth it in my opinion.

So you can see the current design at http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Within the next week or so there will be a new layout with 2 additional systems. We are adding an Intel and AMD Budget systems that start around $650 and they will be featured on the homepage. I'll let everyone know when that is up, but anything else I should consider when we're changing the page around?

Haha according to that script, yahoo, the number 1 traffic producing site on the Web is only worth about 1.5 million. Haha for some reason I think someone would pay a bit more for yahoo.com than that...About $1200 here... Eh.

For gaming I believe a top notch AMD processor will give you better performance, while maintaining a better value. If you're looking for a power system for video editing, encoding, ect, then Intel has the market there. Yes, Intel's can get a little warmer, but if cooled properly, will outperform an AMD chip at multitasking processes.

I have seen 1 out of the 2 sticks of memory be bad and a computer not boot. You see fan's, hear drives, ect, but no image is returned on your monitor. Kind of a weird thing, but after replacing the 1 bad stick with a matching piece of memory, system booted up no problem.

DogEater is right, if you're going to run a large monitor with a wide screen pixel setting, make sure you have the graphics capability. I am running a 24" Wide screen LCD at 1920x1200 with 256MB of graphics memory and seem to be running fine for everyday computing. They're great screens for multitasking, but make sure your hardware can handle it.

Thats confusing. Only thing I could think of is the drive not receiving enough power to speed up the spin rate high enough. That may seem a little far out there, but possible I guess. What wattage power supply do you have?Drive may just be bad too, always an option. Not really a big deal these days, you can pick a new one up from Newegg for about 30 bucks with dual layer burning and such.

I just wanted to avoid the large percentages that PayPal does. On a $2000 computer, you can save a good amount of money by doing the transaction yourself rather than through PayPal.

Hey all,So I am working with a fellow user here to help me create a script for processing orders for Plug Computers, but was wondering what to do about handling credit card orders. (credit card numbers, names, ect.) I know customers like to see a secure connection on the page where they are entering information about their card and address, how does this work with Xisto? Is there a feature built in to support secure pages or do I need to purchase a SSL certificate? If so, how do I set it up and suggestions where to get one?Thanks for the help.-JonPlug Computers

Many women try too hard when it comes to their makeup. I tell my girlfriend that she looks pretty even without and it isn't a big deal to me. She enjoys wearing it though (in small amounts..) to enhance some of her features. If a girl can wear a small amount and make certain facial features stand out that she is particualarly proud of then I dont see the harm of a litlte makeup. Not that she needs it, but it makes her feel better about herself so cool with me.

Not sure about the shipping, but they're out there. Do a Froogle seach for it, finds all kinds of stores.

The language used on the internet is not hurting academic writing. A few of my teachers have complained about students using words like "u" and "b/c" in their formal essays, I mean yes, this is due to the amount of texting/instant messaging that goes on, but can you blame it on the fact that students use it? No. You have to blame writing like that on the student. If a writer isn't intelligent enough to proofread a paper/essay, then they deserve to get marked down for using internet/text slang. You should be able to differentiate between the 2 "languages".
