  1. Alright thank you. I was beginning to try stuff to try to fix my computer, when there really wasnt an issues. Thanks all.
  2. The link I posted works for me, but once I click the "Suggest URL" in the top right that page comes up 404 Not found. Are you guys saying that works for you? Or did you misunderstand me?
  3. Hey- I have been trying to submit my site that is in my signature to the Dmoz.org directory for the last 2 or 3 days, but I find the specific category, like the site states, then click the suggest URL link at the top, but everytime I have been getting a 404 Not Found page. Please try clicking this link and then click the "Suggest URL" link towards the top right corner: http://www.dmoz.org/Computers/Hardware/Retailers/P/ Will it load for you? Just wondering if something is up with mine? Thanks all.
  4. I'm impressed you're actually running XP service pack 2 on that computer, especially with only 256 MB of memory, or "224" in your case...? (Whats up with that? Haha)You have to be loving that 1024x768 resolution too. Now I see what you meant when you said you couldn't read the grayish text on my website. Ha
  5. Thanks,I think they're having issues with their submissions though, because when I go into the website and you first have to find the most specific category for your website then click "Suggest URL" or something similar at the top of the page and I keep getting a 404 error. Any other way to submit to the Dmoz? Or what is going on here? It was like that last night as well.
  6. Haha it can't be that bad. What specs does it have? Like a 1.2 Ghz Intel P3? and 256 MB of memory? Haha just guessing.
  7. The actual computer I use at home, that I am on right now are as follows:AMD x2 Dual Core 4800+2 GB Corsair Memory400GB Hard DriveGeforce 7900GT Graphics CardDual Layer DVD+-R/RW Drive500 W Power SupplyIts not bad, I've had it for a month or two. Ohh and my favorite, my new Dell 24" Widescreen LCD monitor, its a beauty. It makes the computer about 9000 times better.
  8. Of course, 2 years from now I think you'll be able to get a little bit more for that amount though, as far as technology goes, but still the same cool look. The clear cases are really neat, it lights up the whole room. If the lights gets annoying there are switches that can turn off 2 of the lights, or all 4. Cool computer.
  9. Hmm, must have missed those metatags when doing the coding. Definately need to fill those in for some traffic. Oh and that computer can be yours for about $1100? Around there, in blue, green, orange, or red. Haha your choice, incase you DON'T want to steal it.
  10. Haha a free computer eh? Well I don't know what I could do about that. How about one like I have listed in the Portfolio page? I bet anyone would go for one of those, very unique. But anyways, thanks for the suggestion. A brighter, silver color would probably be nice for those who have "seeing issues" as I like to put it. Haha you're not old, just moer seasoned than some of us...
  11. Hey-I was considering adding my website to the Dmoz.org open source web directory. According to them it is a project that large search engines like Google, AOL, and Yahoo uses to fill its searches. Pages are put into categories, and then submitted, reviewed and if accepted, put into the directory in which you applied. I'm assuming this is a must for any website who wants a decent amount of traffic, I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with getting their site listed in this directory. How long does it take for them to approve it..ect. They list from a few weeks to a few months, thats a long time in my opinion.
  12. Yeah, Some people have been saying that. Maybe I just havent noticed it because my monitor is nice and bright. I guess if a user is browsing the website with an older monitor is may be a little bit more difficult to see the lighter text on the black background. Any suggestions to what color I should change it to? Maybe closer to a silver, rather than a gray? Something a little more white? If you goto the "Schedule your build" page and see the cases that are links.. is that color easier to read? Maybe all the text in a similar color?
  13. Hey all-Check out the link in my sig to my new computer company website. I finally added the e-commerce side to my business, should help me out.Let me know what you think of design, I know the "New Technologies" link doesn't work right, as I haven't uploaded that page yet. Oh and 1 thing specific, in the header what do you think of the line "Explain your needs and let us build them" Does that sound right? Any suggestions? Thanks, any constructive critism would be appreciated..
  14. For sure Halo 2 is the best game on that list, you should try playing it on 360. AMAZING! The high definition and digital surround sound makes the online game a whole new experience. Crank up your system and listen to bullets flying over your shoulders while you're in your living room, quite the experience. I agree that the guns make the game, so many new options, many other games have a hard time thinking of new things like Bungie, maybe we should be a little easier on them when they keep pushing release dates back. I'm willing to wait for a quality games they produce.Wait until Halo 3. Now that will be a good time. Ha
  15. Hey all, I am currently in need of adding SSL encryption to 1 page on my website, where a user fills out a form. No credit cards or anything like that, just some personal information like email addresses and names. I was wondering how this is done. I did a Google search on it, and it looks like you have to purchase one on a yearly basis? Is this true? If not how can you set one up through my website? Thanks alot, I'd appreciate any knowledge or help.
  16. Ahh, the 750GB Seagate drives, I recently built a computer for a client with two of these very large drives in it. Running in a RAID 0, he had over a terabyte of storage. Why? Haha I dont know, he did alot of video editing I guess? Awesome drives, but let me tell you, you definately dont want to sit through the formatting when you're loading Windows. Took about 8 years in my opinion. For the size they seem to be reliable, I haven't had any complaints so far.
  17. Cuadros? Im assuming those are CPU's with 4 cores? 2 Dual Cores built into 1? That will be pretty sweet, I haven't even heard of those yet. Wonder what pretty price tag Intel will slap on those bad boys..
  18. Hey all, I was looking for some help with creating my new website. I have a form already created, with some text areas, checkboxes, drop down menu's, ect. I need some help setting up the code to save the form data once the user clicks "Submit" after filling in their information in the form.I was hoping to do this 2 ways - 1. Saving the information into some type of database (MySQL I'm guessing?) and 2. Have the form results emailed to me.I am familiar with the old way of emailing the results by putting "mailto:email@domain.com" into the form, but new browsers block against this, making it kind of a "shady" way of emailing the results in my opinion. Please help me, I need help coding it, and figuring out how to set up the database to accept the information from the form. Thanks again.
  19. Well thats definately a consideration now, knowing that Comcast wouldn't really do anything. I guess I could try it out and if they say I have to stop, then I'll just stop. Not too big of a deal. Definately worth while for me, considering I own a custom computer company, so I have spare parts laying around that would make more than a suffcient server computer. I agree with the above specifications, I've heard that Raptor drives are a must especially if you're going to be running forums or other such text intensive scripts. Thats a good point about the graphics card - you can really cut down on the costs there, it isnt nescessary at all to have a top of the line Geforce 7900 or something card that costs about $300. Thanks for the information tdktank.
  20. Might as well just ask them. Some girls like a creative approach, try to think of something - ask her friends. What does she like doing? Chances are if you're going to ask her out on date you know something about her...or atleast I hope, haha. Its really no big deal, not like you're asking for some huge committment, its just 1 date. If you are looking for something more with the girl, hopefully the first date goes well and she'd be glad to go out again sometime. Just play it cool, got to have the confidence. Girls love that.
  21. Yeah, I agree. Like I said earlier, they will be phasing out, not too fast though. They still provide a good alternative to people who dont want the high tech "theatre experience" like others may. I heard somewhere that all broadcasts will be in HD or digital in a few years, making it nescessary for people to own a HDTV in order to receive television broadcasts. Any agreement with that? Anyone else heard such reports?
  22. I was considering setting up my own home server as well, but I was concerned with my ISP reaction to me doing this- I have read places where only certain high speed internet providers approve of people running servers from their home connections due to the amount of bandwidth used. Does anyone have any information on this? Or possibly a website that lists which ISP's allow this practice and which ones don't? I use Comcast Cable for my high speed internet and just curious if they would allow a home server setup.Thanks.
  23. You definately want to try using a spyware program to get rid of some of those popup causing programs on your computer. I would honestly recommend CounterSpy - it detects up to 99% of all spyware out there with daily definition updates. Only catch, it is $20 I think. Very much worth it my opinion though, good program to run once a week or so just to keep your computer clean. If you want to avoid the 20 bucks, try Spybot Search and Destroy like darran said above, it's a free program that does similar things as CounterSpy, but does not detect as much, and some more advanced popup causing programs may slip through its tests. One other thing you can do by yourself - if you're using Internet Explorer you may want to also try clearing your cookies and browser history, I dont know the exact effectiveness of this, but it seems to work. Goto Tools ---> Internet Options and clear cookies in the General Tab.Hope I could help out a little. Let us know how it pans out for you.
  24. Its definately in the near future. Atleast the "tube" TV's, and not the flatscreen CRT's that are high definition as much...Heres another option that I know alot of people have been going towards (myself included): I recently replaced my computer monitor and TV with 1 product. I bought a 30" Dell widescreen monitor - the monitor having the hookups capable of adding my cable box to the back of it, along with my computer (obviously) works out really well. While I'm working on some web stuff I can just throw on the picture in picture and watch some tube while doing my work. Amazing product in my opinion, stunning looks as well; clean, crisp design.
  25. For the price that you are going to pay for an AMD 3700+ I'd just say to upgrade to an AMD Dual Core X2 processor. They have dropped in price significantly lately, you can get the Dual Core 4200+ for $182 off Newegg (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103747)Its less than a $100 upgrade and majorly worth it in my opinion. I've been building custom systems for 5 or 6 years now and Dual Core is a really nice new technology.
