  1. Hi maresan,
    ManOfSTEEL is correct re:

if your friends dvd writer is 60x something and your dvd is lower that your friend, there is a posibility to detect the disc as blank.

Also, there's the possibility that your friends CD/DVD burner "likes" the brand name type of the CD/DVD disk the information is burned onto & your drive doesn't like it. That's called "media incompatibility" ..and is a problem more often than not.Burn the info to a different brand name CD/DVD & see if that works.
Also, some CD/DVD "mastering"/burning software use different tracks cueing info and you won't ever get them to work..no matter what you do because the programs that created the CD & the programs that's trying to read the CD are incompatible.
It's rare'er but it still does happeb.
    Hope this helps

  2. Hi c3nar1us,From what you describe.. here's what "appears" to be going on..The computer is "defaulting" to the lowest functional USB speed for some reason. This could be either a Windows OS issue OR driver program issue. My first guess would be a driver program issue. Get/download the newest/latest ones from the manufacturers website & install. If that doesn't solve the problem... then.. contact the manufacturer re: compatibility issues WITH YOUR OTHER HARDWARE and /OR search the web for people with the same problems with the same hardware you have.If that doesn't solve the problem.. re-install Windows.. & re-install the latest drivers again. If that doesn't solve it.. send the hardware back to the manufacture/store you got it from.. tehy're probably defective.Hope this helpsRGPHNX

  3. Hi k2wl,So.. you totally re-formatted the HD ( you didn't use the "restore" windows option by mistake?) ..and the same/ or similar BSD ("blue screen of death") problem is still happening ?? And you didn't/ haven't re-installed the DVD drivers again..yet...right?This definite ly a Windows XP issue. The "generic" drivers in XP are not working with your DVD properly. If you still have your old CD/dvd drive around (the one that used to work OK with Windows) .. put it back in & use it to re-install Windows again. If that doesnt work.. then your Windows CD is "bad" OR you have some other hardware problem with the computer that you need to troubleshoot. Maybe your new DVD drive is bad.Hope this helpsRGPHNX

  4. Hi theillestmc12,4 GB of RAM will mostlikely actually "cool down" your computer (by a degree or two) due to less hard drive activity. (like ckuehner said above). There's now way it has anything to do with "burning up" the CPU.. just make sure you have good airflow thru the case (like BuffaloHELP said above). If your really concerned about heat bulidup ..then just install an extra case fan.. AND/or take the side panel cover off the computer (be sure to keep it clean though). Also, Win XP "usually" only "plays nice" with a maximum of 2GB RAM (like malish said above). Also, Compaq's do sometimes only work well with specific manufacturer's ram ( like ckuehner said above).Check out Kingston or Crucial RAM sellers.. they both should be able to get you the correct type & amount of RAM for reasonable $$$.Hope this helpsRGPHNXPS- don't buy "bargain basement" RAM from the net..it's usually junk.

  8. Hi k2wl,
    Dragonfly is correct re:

Since it is desinged for Broadband users if your internet connection is not a broadband connection it will not work

Don't know if they're going to make it work with dialup in the future (probably yes?) ..only google knows for sure.IN the meantime you can check out Earthlink ISP provider.. they're "accellerator" works pretty good with dialup.
Most "accelarators" "work" by sending a "stripped down"(ie. lower resolution) version of graphics over the internet. Smaller graphics= faster loadtimes.
You usually won't even notice the difference in the graphics unless your using a high res monitor/ grtaphics card setup.
    Hope this helps

  12. Hi Guevara,For css I suggest you should find some templates to save you a lot of work (like the other posters said). For HTML editing you might want to check out "1ST Page 2000". It's completely free, a big full featured program with lots of bells & whistles. Has a good help fule included with the program. Not much in the way of online product support though (because it's free).Hope this helpsRGPHNX

  13. Hi Ryoma Taka,If you have double checked all the syntax (ie. spelling is Case sensitive) in your FTP client program and your still having problems logging in... then maybe it's a problem with your FTP client software (ie. WS_FTP LE program.)You might want to try "FileZilla" program. It's very user friendly & free.If your still having problems getting your website to come up at all... then maybe you need to post a request for the admins help in the forums. Someone will get back to you.Hope this helpsRGPHNX

  15. Hi Milovoriel,Don't know what type of hosting access your looking for for your graphics..but you can get them onto your site by ftp ing them into your "userfiles" folder.. either in the root directory or the www directory or the public_html directory or ALL OF THE ABOVE.After that you'll just need to point whatever program your using at the file to retrieve the graphics.Hope this helpsRGPHNX

  16. Hi arcanistherogue,You need to post to the admins about this problem. Either post in the "requests" section or ask one of the moderators for permission to PM one of the admins directly. Be sure you ONLY PM the admins once about your problem (more PMs will be considered spam/harassment ..etc).Hope this helpsRGPHNX
