  1. I tend to disagree that Bush's purpose in Iraq is only to secure oil. I think its a great achievement to actually place the first democracy in the Middle East and I think it will help America's security greatly. I think Bush has done a decent job so far and his choices he made were only to help the security of the world. Also, weapons of mass destruction was only a pretense to go to war, not a goal in itself. If your wondering why there where none found its because they weren't intended to be found, but only used to get the war started.
  2. I'm looking at the forum categories and I can't see a software category. Could you perhaps make a software category or maybe combine it with operating systems and make it a software and operating systems category. Or you could make operating systems a subforum of the software category. Also I was wondering if you could change the title of Networking to Internet and Networking so that way we can get a little bit more posts there.
  3. I've personally used Intel cpus so far in mostly OEM built computers. I currently have a P4, but for my next computer I think I might want to try AMD. I think AMD is more used by gamers and overclockers. The AMD processors do more work per clock cycle, which is neat, but they also tend to run hotter than the P4s and require more cooling. Its also pretty good that AMD has tried out 64 bit processors.
  4. The A380 is going to be so awesome. Its double decks, which is so neat for a plane.
  5. This is a pretty good e-mail, but gmail offers 1gb of space and pop access also.
  6. Yeah, Starcraft is a pretty good game and its online multiplayer is pretty fun to play also. The races are also pretty balanced which makes it fun to play online.
  7. Well, cryptonx, you're not mentioning all the good soldiers out there in Iraq like those who are friendly to all the Iraqi children and hand out candy as their convoy passes by. The majority of soldiers are very civil and are doing a good job in Iraq its just that there are a very few that are giving a bad name to the rest. Also, I tend to disagree about the oil in Iraq. I think that there's no way for the US to take control of any of the oil as long as there's an Iraqi government in Iraq and I think the oil will be left to the country to use. I think President Bush was more focused on democracy in Iraq than oil or wmd.
  8. Yeah, Age of Empires is pretty fun to play. I used to play a while ago and I think I might try it again.
  9. Thats awesome, another forum added. It should be a pretty interesting place of discussion.
  10. Yeah, I think you need the key for the program to connect. I'll probably wait till the public release to use the program, but nice link though.
  11. Invision Power Board has a lot of nice features like fast reply and its pretty customizable. The only thing is that its not completely free, while phpBB is completely free and open source. However phpBB doesn't have as many features and sometimes security is not good.
  12. I use SmartFTP because it has all the necessary features and its free.
  13. You can buy a book at the bookstore in the computers section that teaches you both php and mySQL. You can also browse online for tutorials on php and mySQL. A good place to start is php.net, which has some beginning tutorials and links. You can also download a lot of scripts and learn from examples. Before you learn php and mySQL, I would recommend learning basic HTML, which is easy to do by searching for online tutorials.
  14. I used to use FlashGet a lot when I was on dial-up and I liked that program a lot. I stopped using it when it added adware into it and I haven't used it anymore. I tried GetRight and Internet Download Manager but I didn't really like these programs. I think I might try Free Download Manager and see how that is.
  15. Guess what, there's a GMail spooler available from isnoop.net. For people who have a lot of invitations lying around you can send them to the GMail spooler and they will get sent to people requesting invites. Also, you can request an invite if you don't have one yet. This is one of the first times there have been excess invitations available.
  16. I think webdesign should be for Firefox because it adheres to web standards much more than Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer uses too many proprietary codes in its browser and should adhere to standards better.
  17. I used to use Google as a search engine, but I find that it often gives random and not so relevant search results back. I now use Teoma with subject specific popularity and I find it gives more relevant search results. Also, its supporting a less used search engine. I am however impressed by Google's GMail, which in a short period has become the best webmail available and is better than MSN or Yahoo. Google does do a lot things well but I think their websearch dominance will go down.
  18. The theory is correct. Its basically Einstein's theory of relativity, which has been proven correct many times so far. This theory says that nothing can travel at or faster than the speed of light and an object requires more and more energy to be accelerated closer to the speed of light. His special theory of relativity describes the effect gravity on time and explains how time slows down near black holes.
  19. You can also try reading HowStuffWorks.com for more information on networking and how it works.
  20. My hard drive is Maxtor 40gb. The 40 gigs is usually enough space until I start downloading a lot of stuff.
  21. Although I don't use floppy drives to store data anymore, floppy drives are very useful for booting up computers and running utilities. Lots of utilities like maxtor's hard drive utilities and bios flash utilities use floppy disks that boot up your computer and then run the program. Hopefully the floppy won't get removed because its still pretty useful on a computer.
  22. I use Firefox. Its very customizable and has the ability to use extensions and themes with the browser. It also has good support for standards and renders most pages correctly. Security is also good in Firefox too.
  23. Try Audacity, an open source audio editor project from SourceForge. It has a lot of good of features and effects for editing sounds and its free. Its still being worked on so more features are on the way.
  24. LED lights are definitely more efficient than standard light bulbs. The only thing is that they're more expensive to make and they also do produce lots of heat during use. LED's are already used in most streetlights and hopefully soon they'll be used more in homes.
  25. This calculation is not quite correct. It should be:1 hr/day x 365 days= 365 hours 1 Watt = 1 Joule/s 365 hoursx 60 mins/hour x 60 secs/min = 1,314,000 secs 1,314,000 secs/year x 3 Watts = 3,942,000 Joules / year So every year the cellphone emits 3,942,000 Joules, however not all of this gets absorbed by you. Compare this energy release with that of sunlight: The Sun emits 1370 Watts per square meter. 1370 Watts/m^2 x 0.5 m^2 = 685 Watts 1 hour x 60 mins/hour x 60 secs/min = 3,600 secs 685 Joules/s x 3,600 secs/hour = 2,466,000 Joules / hour Compared to the energy of the Sun, the power of the cellphone is negligible. But the cellphone's energy is in microwaves while the Sun's energy is mostly in visible light, so we still can't tell if cellphones are that dangerous. I don't think that cellphones are that dangerous, but if you overuse them too too much they might be dangerous. This calculation is also not quite correct: The error is that weight does not accumulate, it only counts when the cars are on the bridge. If the bridge can hold up to 40000 kg, then that means it can hold a maximum of 40 cars at one time. As long as no more than 40 cars are on the bridge at one time, the bridge will not break. Hope you guys enjoy this physics explanation!
