Did My Account Get Hacked Into? Some suspicious issues
FirefoxRocks replied to FirefoxRocks's topic in Web Hosting Support
My bandwidth is about average for 66% of the month has passed.I couldn't find the WMA file in the logs as it was downloaded too little times I guess. The only files that I found in the log was the site to my Web Development Portal and the site to XKingdom Center (a game club site). There weren't any usual numbers of users/hits on the last few days, just about 15 unique users and the average ~150 pages hit.So I don't know what happened. -
Ok first of all I had this issue of my cPanel/FTP password not working: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/94173-topic/?findpost=1064377691. That raised a warning flag as I didn't change any settings of user authentication, etc. So then I reset my password using the forum thing under "Free Web Hosting". It supposedly "failed", so I didn't use 10 credits. When I accessed my FTP account to upload some PHP files that I corrected, I found this new directory/file under my public_html folder: /9xYenBai.Com/UploadMusic/Honey.wma So I raised security, went to that website http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ and couldn't understand Vietnamese, so it didn't look suspicious or anything becuase McAfee SiteAdvisor didn't rate it yet. Then, I downloaded the WMA music file, scanned it for viruses and found that it wasn't a virus, so I played it in Windows Media Player and the song was in Vietnamese, same as this site. Now my main concern is that the directory is called UploadMusic, so do you think someone cracked my password and uploaded files to my account?

Something Wrong With This Script? Unexpected T_SRING
FirefoxRocks replied to FirefoxRocks's topic in Programming
Cast the data to the correct type of your table columns? What does that mean? -
Here is the code that I have: <?php$con = mysql_connect("localhost","user","password");if (!$con) {die('<p>Could not connect: ' . mysql_error() . '</p>');}mysql_select_db("database", $con);$ip=$_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'];echo "Adding MXP info...";mysql_query (INSERT INTO mxp (date, user, victim, turns, side, gold, lost, killed, mxp, points_b, points_a, type, power, ip) VALUES ('$_POST[date]','$_POST[user]','$_POST[victim]','$_POST[turns]','$_POST[side]','$_POST[gold]','$_POST[lost]','$_POST[killed]','$_POST[mxp]','$_POST[points_b]','$_POST[points_a]','$_POST[battle]','$_POST[power]','$ip');echo "<h3>Your MXP information record has been added to the database.</h3>";?> Here is the error I am receiving: Is there a semicolon I missed somewhere? What is wrong?

Can't Access Cpanel - 'login Attempt Failed'
FirefoxRocks replied to turbopowerdmaxsteel's topic in Web Hosting Support
I am experiencing this problem as well. I have tried logging into cPanel today and found that the password was invalid. The server IMAP accounts seem to be working fine as I can receive email in Mozilla Thunderbird. My FTP also failed to connect at this time. It was working fine yesterday and the day before so I don't know what is wrong. I haven't changed my password or any cPanel settings so I suspect that there was a forced password reset.I do not want to waste 10 credits on resetting my password so could someone please look into this problem? Thanks. -
I have started developing in Visual Basic Express and thought it would be cool to develop a Facebook+Windows application since it looked easy. I downloaded the Microsoft Facebook Developer Toolkit and extracted it to a folder. The problem is, I can't seem to figure out how to import/install/insert the elements of the toolkit into Visual Basic 2005 Express. I was going to follow some tutorials and stuff, but I can't seem to get through 2 steps: 1. No components/elements are added into Visual Basic 2005 Express. Was I supposed to run an installer? Or a specific place to extract the files? As you can see on https://www.visualstudio.com/vs/visual-studio-express/, it shows you to start a new project and drag a control to the bottom of the window. But there aren't any controls to drag. 2. Provide an API and secret key. How do I sign up for one on Facebook? So if someone could get me started on this, it would be great.

The layout is quite dull, this may be effective in some cases but not this. Try colourizing your site a little bit. Also, I don't know why you have <html> before the DOCTYPE. That makes it invalid. Remove that element and things will improve. In XHTML, you must use lowercase elements and attributes, don't forget that. You have some unquoted values and unclosed tags. Check those. The navigation is good, it is consistent across most of your pages. Make sure you keep it simple.Repeating meta keywords will be harmful to search engines and programs that use meta keywords. You have "mp3s" in there at least twice. The site is good, just make sure the music that you can download is legal to do so.

I think the water filter is something that you install on your tap/pitcher and you replace an actual filter every so often.

Please try to use proper grammar when posting on the forums.Anyways, I have this service turned off by default because I don't use a wireless network. And some questions that I may ask are:Do you need this service on if you have a wireless network? Will Windows detect the presence of a wireless network if you don't have this service on?Any security risks involved with turning on this service/leaving it on Automatic?

406 Error I keep getting a 406 error...
FirefoxRocks replied to spacewaste1405241471's topic in Websites and Web Designing
So a 406 Error is: What kind of response/data would that be anyways? -
That is quite interesting. I've never actually used any of these services before because I don't think it is necessary to place ads on my site. I tend to dislike advertising, and I almost never see them when using Firefox, Netscape or Flock.Google AdSense is very popular, but you have to provide personal information to them in order for the checks to be mailed to you. That's what I don't like about these services.

Microsoft Publisher is used for desktop publishing, that is, printed publications like posters, signs, ads, flyers, greeting cards, etc. :oIt uses a rather verbose HTML generator, also called MSHTML. It generates the HTML so that when you reopen it in Microsoft Publisher, you get exactly the same results. :DI agree that using human-generated XHTML is the way to go. Sure you can use any program you want to do your graphics (as long as you have permission to use those graphics), but using human-generated XHTML guarantees much cleaner code and you can actually go to revise it if necessary.

Wow. 32 packs of water twice a month? That's a lot. Or do you mean a pack of 32 water bottles twice a month? But still, that is a lot. Anyways, I've never thought of that. I always recycle the bottles, in fact the recycling bin is always full of them and some cardboard. Except for the cap, it isn't recyclable in this area. We do need start doing stuff for the environment. We won't all eat vegetarian, drive a bio-diesel vehicle, or use wind/solar/geothermal power for our electricity. Things as simple as flicking off, turn off the lights when not in use and avoid idling your vehicle will help. Conserving energy and reducing carbon dioxide emissions are the easiest things you can do. Take the one-tonne challenge from Environment Canada. Some other things that you could try are composting. Many of you probably recycle, and composting is just recycling food wastes. Google it for more information. Anyways, I try do those everyday. I'm just trying to make a better future for us all.

Have You Ever...? liked a website that....
FirefoxRocks posted a topic in Websites and Web Designing
I'm posing this question to find out if you have actually ever liked a website that was really crappy. By crappy I mean:The design is broken/incomplete, it may be hard to read. The navigation is difficult, it is badly organized, it may take you 20-50 clicks to find one specific page.At least half the pages say "Under construction". The website is really complete, visitors may be redirected from one page to another using <meta/>The HTML/XHTML code that is used is invalid. Maybe parsing even 3000 errors, but it is still renderable by the tag soup parser.Pages load slowly, the JavaScript bogs everything down, Java applets scattered here and there take 10 minutes to initiate, that 4000 lines of CSS code at the top just almost stops the enter page.Links lead to server 404 error pages, that half-cooked XHTML that the MSHTML engine generates bloat up the page. But you liked the site anyways.I'm wondering this because I like a site that is like that, but not exagerrated to that extent. :DHave you ever liked a site like that? Explain why.And no, you cannot give the reason that it is your own site, -
I've tried Wubi for about a month already, and I don't like it. I just removed Wubi about 2 days ago actually. It was featured on Download.com as the "Pain free Linux installation". I downloaded it, waited about a night for the ISO file to download, and proceeded to install Ubuntu. It worked fine for a while, until I accidentally used NTFS compression on the Y: (Ubuntu) drive, then it became unbootable. I uncompressed and it was fine. Then the kernel needed an update, and when it finished, things went downhill from there.Using a normal Ubuntu installation, kernel updates always mess me up, so I avoid them, don't know if that is safe or not.Ubuntu may be easy to install, with or without Wubi, but managing it is still hard.

Transparency Do/Would you use it?
FirefoxRocks replied to iGuest's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Ok, well for opacity, the child elements/content inherit the value also, so therefore your text would be opaque also. That's good if that is what you want, but you may want to consider the alpha value also. What's the difference between these two examples: p{opacity:0.4;filter:alpha(opacity=40);-webkit-opacity:.4;background-color:rgb(0,0,255)} and p{background-color:rgba(0,0,255,0.4)} One uses RGBA and the other opacity. Notice that I am controlling background-color. Since it is only background, the second example will have 100% opaque text, and a 40% transparent background. The first example will have 40% transparent background and text. *The -webkit-opacity is used to support Safari. opacity is for Mozilla(Gecko) and Opera. filter is for Internet Explorer (Trident). -
Wow. I can't believe you haven't heard of Facebook before. At school, at work, in the media, in lawsuits, in tech news. Facebook is everywhere, especially with the very extensible Facebook API for developing applications in Facebook. MySpace, well I've heard of a few people that use it, but I prefer Facebook MUCH over MySpace.

I have heard of this Microsoft Expression software that was released a while ago, and I decided to check it out. It looks great, but here is the weird part: Q. How is Expression Web different from Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003? A. Expression Web builds on Microsoft Office FrontPageÂŽ 2003 technologies to provide an unprecedented level of support for creating standards-based Web sites. Valuable feedback from customers like you have helped us create a new product that fully supports Web standards such as Extensible Hypertext Markup Language (XHTML), cascading style sheets (CSS), and Extensible Markup Language (XML). If you are familiar with FrontPage, then you will find Expression Web easy to use. Expression Web has strong CSS support and takes full advantage of the power of ASP.NET 2.0 with integrated support for server and user controls. Oh really? I don't want to spend money on buying your software, because I have something similar, but do you seriously support serving XHTML pages as true XHTML, with application/xhtml+xml and everything? Did you spend time improving your support for CSS? Or is it the same level of CSS2.1 support as Windows Internet Explorer 7? What is your definition of strong CSS support? (Why don't you use full CSS support? Or is that even included/possible?) Takes full advantage of the power of ASP.NET 2.0. Are you saying that your other product, Visual Basic 2005, doesn't use the full power of YOUR technology ASP.NET? Q. Can Expression Web be used to create standards-based Web sites using XHTML and CSS? A. Yes. Expression Web has excellent support for creating and editing XHTML and for using CSS to control the format and layout of pages. So did you actually implement the correct MIME type support? And add the CSS2.1 requirements that you don't have yet in Internet Explorer 7? Q. What does the ability to support XML mean for Expression Web users? A. XML is now a universally recognized data storage language that uses customized tags that offer flexibility in organizing and presenting information. Expression Web makes it easier to transition content from internal systems onto the Web using XML. With Expression Web, users can define how XML documents are formatted on a Web page by authoring Extensible Style Sheet Language for Transformations (XSLT) directly within Expression Web. If you have that good of XML and XSLT support, then you must be able to serve XHTML documents as XML, right? So if you have improved all these standards support stuff, why don't you use this Expression rendering engine in Internet Explorer?!?! You are a hypocrite if you enable people to "express" with the correct standards and stuff, but your software doesn't even support the pages created using your software. So lets see it. Release IE 7.1, with the improved "trident" rendering engine. Make it a KnowledgeBase update. High-priority. Of course if you don't have application/xhtml+xml support in Expression Web, then you are lying in your software features, well technically you just hid some crucial information from users.

Yes, it should be a section as a lot of people are asking for CSS help and also there are others who are learning how to switch from <font> and that sort of stuff to CSS. CSS is covers a lot, it can include changing your font to changing voices when reading your site. You should really learn it if you plan on making web sites/pages. I have some resources for CSS, if anyone is needing any:*http://www.w3schools.com/css/ *[Gone, it was my site] http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ *http://csszengarden.com/ *http://htmlhelp.com/reference/css/quick-tutorial.html

This Inaccessible Website In some locations only?
FirefoxRocks replied to FirefoxRocks's topic in General Discussion
That may be the case, but... That's weird, they sent a note home to tell students to look at that site for extra help and stuff. It isn't intended to be a web host. It is a site that provides information about the school and stuff. If you view the Google cache, you'll see what it should look like (in a textual format). The pages aren't student authored, and assignments are supposed to be posted on there if you were absent from school. This is very strange. -
I want everyone to try to access his website: http://dhseagles.kpdsb.on.ca/ and the sub-page http://dhseagles.kpdsb.on.ca/~rbeatty/. I am finding it extremely strange that I can access this site at school but not at home, where it is also intended to be accessed. I initially thought it was OpenDNS that caused the problem, although using my ISP DNS server didn't help either. Oh and please don't tell me that the Google Cache is working, I already verified that

Creating Blur Overlay Effect?
FirefoxRocks replied to Mr. Zero's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Oh, and by the way, I think this is an effect that I want to achieve somewhere. Is there a way to do this in the GIMP?I don't have Photoshop for 3 reasons:1. Too expensive2. Unnecessary3. I prefer open-source software. -
I'm a teen and I like to keep interested in security bulletins from Microsoft, forums like Xisto, web development sites, school-related stuff, a little bit of RPG gaming and the usual news and stuff. But for the average teen, designing something like Neopets (with content suitable for teens) or something similar isn't that hard, as long as you keep up to date on what's hot and what's not.
