ELTan, if you are new or just learning some new techniques for web design, Xisto is a great place. When I first came here, I just had a basic understanding of HTML. As my need for more diverse things on my website increased, the more I got out of this forum. The community here is great. I slowly found sites on the web to help me learn PHP, and when I got stuck on something, I came to the Xisto forum. MySQL database I basically learned all right here, though at this point I don't know alot. The great thing about being here is, there are so many people around with so much knowledge, that usually someone can figure out an answer to your questions. I'm just hoping one day I will be able to answer someone else questions for a change.

I'm not trying to be picky but, with the really dark colors in there, you can't read what it says. I do like the way it looks though, the slow rolling effect, but not the colors. I also don't like the size. If I were looking at a page where everything were big (which would bug me) then it wouldn't be so bad. But the size of your forum and the size of those buttons just don't match up.

I actually think it's a great step forward that scientist have finally defined what a planet is. Though, children will hate having to learn the um-teen number of planets extra they are eventully going to add to our solar system. But now, they will finally have a clear cut guideline, no debates and arguing. From what I read, there have been many debates going on in our solar system about Pluto. And calling all those astroids and comets mini planets? I'm glad they are going to change that too. Although small solar system bodies is much longer to say, it at least is a little more accurate. Space research, I think, has come a long way, but it has also been slow going. I agree that there must be more advance civilizations out there somewhere. I think we must somehow get out there, maybe not to meet those other civilizations yet, but to at least get to these other planets and research them. Valueble infomation could be gathered that we could use to help us in our space research, who knows. We are not alone

I must be living in the dark ages. I have only heard of leetspeak in this forum, but have no clue what it is. I've seen it typed 1337, so I'm assuming it has something to do with typing in all numbers. But, I would have no idea why someone would want to do that. And camel caps?!? What is that? If it it is what it sounds like I would assume it would Be LiKe ThIs, BuT WhY? Again, I don't spend alot of time on forums and chat rooms. I just go to where I need to, so I don't run into alot of things like this. And if I see weird things, I just don't pay attention because I just don't understand it.But as for grammer and punctuation mistakes, yeah I make them. Everyone does, though not all will admit to it. We are only human. I try to correct all that I see as I'm typing, because I hate to do things wrong. I will usually reread things before posting here to make sure there are no mistakes (but not always). And I will be the first to point out mistakes that I find... in my head, not to the person that made the mistake. I just find that to be rude. I know I wouldn't like it if someone did that to me. Like "You mis-spelled heard in your first sentence. Try and be more careful" I would find this demeaning.

My computer was doing the exact same thing. Thought it was a virus issue at first, but checked and couldn't find anything. I changed the power supply, and it did fine for a while, but sometimes it did anyway, then it shut down again. I never could figure out what was wrong with it. Now it is sitting in the back room collecting dust because it was about 4 years old, so I just bought a better computer.

I played the original Sims and got addicted to it. Then I got away from it when I got the Sims Online. Once again I got very addicted to that, but could not afford to keep paying 10 bucks a month. I've heard so many great things about Sims 2 and it's expansions that I'm afraid to get it for fear of getting addicted all over again . But I have a feeling that I will eventually break down and buy it. I can't resist buying a good game. When I walk by the electronics section of a department store, or walk by any game store, someone has to lead me in the other direction.

I thought I read somewhere that it was possible to get hosted both here and at Trap 17. Is this true? I have another idea for a site that would be much quicker for me to complete, but is not my long term project. I really love the sevices offered here and would hate to go looking for another host for my other project.

Oh so I've been fooled all this time into thinking I had a PC ... Doesn't matter to me in the end. I was just a kid, I had fun, and it brought me to a new world that now I have grown to love. After that first Apple my dad bought, we did get something different besides Apple, (I couldn't tell you what it was though). Still, great to see the PC turn 25 and can't wait to see what happens in the next 25 to come.

I remember having an Apple II e that looked alot like that thing when I was a kid. Man I loved that thing. I was playing games on that thing before I got my Nintendo. Ah the good old days. Opps, now I'm showing my age. But it was an amazing thing to have that technology back then. Now, almost every kid growing up has a computer. I was one of only a handful in my class to have one. Great games, Hitch-Hikers Guide, Warriors of the Wasteland, Oregon Trail. Man, I cant say enough.

I was looking into a few things at this Phpnet.us site. Since I cant have two accounts here I thought I might give it a try, no adds, unlimited mysql. But I found one thing out about the site and banner advertisements in the terms of service: And another thing that worries me, because I am not sure about how to get my site noticed is this in the terms: Those were just some things about the site I thought I'd point out to people.

Ok, I'm confused. What is the correct way to use something like limewire? Don't people just download music? And if they do, I still don't see anything wrong with that.

Since this is all hypothetical anyway, what do we really know what would and what wouldn't be carried on in a human clone? Yes, to some extent, what happens in everyday life will effect what will happen, but who's to say that likes and dislikes won't come from something, say, in the brain, the genetic code. I don't know alot of anything about genetics, as people can probably tell from my posts, but there is so much unknowns about human cloning (at least that I know of) that I'm sure it would be a guessing game at first anyway.

The high price that would come along with cloning would be a major problem. Imagine, the rich people, being able to clone the perfect baby, no flaws (or very little) able to withstand most diseases and illnesses. This child will grow up to be an extremely high productive member of society, taking the best jobs, the high pay. Meanwhile, the poor, middle-class will not be able to afford such a luxury as cloning, therefore, getting the lower paying jobs. As time goes by, the economy will shift, leaving the poor/middle-class in the dust, inducing poverty in many places, while the 'well-to-do' will have many advantages. This is how I see it in how I see it in America. I know nothing of other countries govenments. But in America, the govenment would end up making it easier on the upper-class, and harder for lower and middle-class. That is always the way it is.

What I don't understand is, if these sites aren't legel, then why are they even there? Shouldn't they be shut down instead of taking the risk of people getting sued over downloading the music on Their site? It makes no sense. If I can freely go to Limewire and download music, why should I be punished for it? They let me do it. They were there. Nobody said to them "your putting this here illigally for people to download from and must stop". And even if they did, why haven't they stopped? I have no clue as to which sites are legel and which sites aren't. I wouldn't even know how to tell. They are there, so as far as I'm concerned, it must be ok, or they would have been shut down by now.

I got SMF through Xisto's cPanel. I probably wouldn't have even thought about unless it was there. But this post was probably made before they got hosted and didn't know it came with image hosting and SMF.

Thanks lenbot! That helped me to better understand 'primary key' a little better. I've read about it a little in a tuturial, but was never exatly sure about it. Your example with the Student ID was pretty clear to me. While I'm still learning about databases, this was a help for me.

I've got Dreamweaver (on my computer that needs to be fixed). Got it from a friend. Looks like a great program. Haven't installed it on this computer as it's my roomates. Worked with it a little, and so far it seems like the best one I've worked with. I've tried HTML Kit and it was ok, and PHP Designer 2006 I really liked, but this Dreamweaver looks like it's got a ton of features that I will need to learn how to use (hopefully it will help me out). Unfortunatly, using Dreamweaver and things like this, personally I think it will make me lazy. What I mean by this is, I won't want to code it out myself. But it also helps me learn. When I use a WYSIWYG, if it does some things for me, I can look at the code, study it, and learn from it. I'm just hoping I don't become dependant on it.

Uggh, I am so frustrated with Orkut and Myspace right now. Neither one seem to remember me. Both keep telling me my password is wrong. If I want to access them, I have to change my password to get in there. Funny thing is, I am able to change my password (they recognize it to change it), then I can log in.But I can tell you one thing. If I have to keep doing that all the time, I'm not going to around there too long. But my roomate has no problem with her Myspace account and we are using the same computer, go figure. If I can figure it out, I'll see you all there.

I've got a quick newbie question. Is using something like the <a href="https://www.eurodns.com/?action=search&category=jewelry"> you mentioned, the best way to get google to see your website? I know with some of the other search engines (from what I hear) they use META tags. If so, I will definitly have to look into this mod-rewrite thing. Oh, and one more question. Would you only have to do this to your main index page, or for every page on your website? Like I said, I'm a noob.

When I'm using my computer, I'd rather use Firefox. I switched about 3 or so months ago from IE. I don't understand the tabbed browsing. I open up one page and it closes the page I was in, so where is the tabs? But I love all the add-ons/extensions that Firefox offers, especially for programmers. I have a few of them on my computer. You wont find things like that on IE (I don't think, correct me if I'm wrong). I've also found that FF loads things faster for me. I've heard others say it is slower, but I've had the opposite reaction. So even if IE7 does come out with this tabbed browsing, I'm not going to switch back. Yes, it will still be an option on my computer for certain things, but Firefox will definitly be my main browser.

Right now, I use the File Manager. I have Filezilla on my computer but, it took me forever to figure it out. Do you have to be connected to the FTP (Filezilla) before you can try to upload files? Or, if your not will it be there when you do connect? Maybe thats my problem, I'm not always connected I think. I never really knew the whole purpose before of an FTP program, but once I get the hang of it I think I would use it. I've only used it when I was getting a background from a website though. I don't know how to use it any other way. The website had an option for FTP file transfer.

I think this place is great too. I've asked some mods for help too with absolutly no problems, and I've only been here a few months. Though most of my posts have been along the way of questions, I'm sure the more I learn, the more I will be able to participate in the way of answers. I love posting. And I love the hosting I get from Xisto. The community, mods, and admin are all great here and I am looking forward for my one year anniversary as well.

I really don't think this is going to make that huge of an impact actually. But I hope it does. I have a 9 year old step-daughter who I am going to be putting on-line soon for school work and some kids games online, and parental controls are good, but I'm so afraid of what she might come across. But maybe if they start putting out fines/imprisioning people, it will help the situation. There used to be a website out there that if you typed in http://www.whitehouse.com/ instead of https://www.whitehouse.gov/ it was a porn site. It's not like that anymore I don't think, but image what kids musta thought when that came up instead of the White House page when doing a report.

Indeed the question of a clone having a soul would be a big debate amoung the religous faction. I for one believe it would not have one. It is made with the help of scientists not by the hand of a 'higher power'. That right there makes it a clear cut decision for me. How could anything made from science have a soul? A human born into this world is made naturally, the way it was intended, no intervention. And just before anyone steps in here, I'm not saying that humans born 'with the help of science' have no soul. Science has helped many people have children. But not just design one like from a blue print as a clone would be. Not natural.. No soul.
