I bought two books to learn SQL.. one is "sams teach yourself SQL in 10minutes". The other is "learn SQL in three days". I've heard of MySQL but was not sure if these are the same. I have to have a website I imagine to learn this right? I'm trying to get books for HTML and i think its call PHP. Everything starts with HTML am I right. But basically want to know about SQL

Hello everyone, my name is Rikki. Its been a while since I've been here. I was happy to find out this site still existed. Hopefully I will learn some things while im here and get my own website. i want to make a text game website. I know i will be needing a database for my game and I'm not sure what else I will need. I'm having a problem with firefox loading my cpanel. I'm using firefox version 3.0.8 and whenever I try to go to my cpanel sign-in page it just won't load and times out, saying it took to long to connect. Funny thing is, I have AOL on my computer and my cpanel sign-in page loads fine there. I've tried deleting cookies, running ad-aware and spy-bot s&d, and my virus protection has been running regularly every night with no problems. I'm running windows xp with service pack 3. I just installed service pack 3 and was having this problem even when I had service pack 2. It was loading fine until yesterday, so I really am stumped as to why it won't load now. Any suggestions?

My password for cpanel is automatically saved thanks to firefox. But I am trying to write down all my passwords in case i forget them or am at a different computer. Problem is I want to change my Cpanel password but in order to do this I need to know the original password. How can I reset it if I dont remember it? Do I have to submit a ticket, and if I do how do I do that and how long will it take?

well it says that my db name is suchandsuch_users and next to that it says table: reg. I'm not sure how to make a db that says reg they all seem to be going under the _users database. Am I doing something wrong or just not understanding phpmyadmin?

Baseball is my favorite sport to watch (GO RED SOX) but favorite sport I would do would be karate, Tang Soo Do. Basketball I also love to play.I hate Nascar, and vollyball. Nascar is boring going around in a big circle for 500 or so laps. And as for vollyball, that hurts my wrists after 5 minutes.

O.K. I have another question. My database name in phpmyadmin is the first six digits of my site name _users. But I made a database table in there called reg. In your example how do I use my registration database if I have to put say lonebyrd_users and not lonebyrd_reg? Or can I put the latter?

Hi everyone. I am on a quest to make a tv simulation game with a database of real life actors (maybe pics included), and the game is to be played as if your a studio executive. Every aspect would have to be played out from buying the studio, hiring help (scriptwriters, directors, producers etc.) buying advertising, filling out the perfect time slots for your shows etc etc. What do people think of this idea. I know most people these days are in to the all out 3d mmorpg's but that is not what I am going for. I play a few text-based games online now that I love. Let me know if you like (or hate) this idea and why.

Excuse me but don't you mean Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince? I can't wait to see this movie. I've read all the books and though there are differences between the book and the movie, I still look forward to seeing the movies. I have heard somewhere that they are thinking of splitting up Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows into two movies. If they do that they are just too money hungry. Has anyone else heard that rumor?

My first system was an Atari 2600. I remember staying up long nights with my best friend playing astroids all night long. We would take turns when one got tired. We got so far on that game taking turns that we took a picture of our score and were going to send it to atari but I don't think we ever mailed it. Boy I wish I could find that polorid picture now. I also used to play a game called 'adventure'. I loved that game so much but then my dad got rid of it because I knew all the catacombs. Boy was I mad. My first pc was an apple IIc where I spent hours playing a game called 'warriors of the wasteland'. Wish I could find that game again.

I am using this script, it is very helpful. But me being new to this I have a few questions regarding my database. What do I need to name it? I used 'registration' but am not sure if that fits in with the script, though I think it does. I did not alter the script at all yet as I want to make sure I have it working and fully understand it. Also, when I made a database in PHP My Admin it has colllation. I do not know what this is. The default seems to be latin but I am American. The only things that looked familiar to me were ASCII and UTF8_unicode. What should I use for collation or should I just leave it empty. Also, with this script, how exactly do I connect to the database? I know I sound like a complete newbie but I've been up for 24 hours so I don't think that is helping any. Please help I am in dire straights.

Can someone tell me a good place to find registration/sign-in scripts. I'm looking for something relatively simple to use. I don't know a lot about programming languages, i sort of learn as I'm going. I am still learning MySQL, little by little, and know I'm going to need to use it to do a registration page. I just want something easy to understand so I can learn as I'm going and not need to know all of it right up front. I am a quick learner, I think, so please take that into consideration also. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm looking to get my girlfriend an mp3 player from ebay but she is very specific. She has about 60 cd that she made, all 700 mb capacity and they are all full. What size mp3 player would I need to hold all this music? I was thinking it would need to be a little over 20gb one but then again I am tired and not thinking clearly. These tips help me a lot too. I know sometimes my topics/responses seem rather short. I don't mean them to be that way but I don't always have the writing skills to keep up a good post. I want to use homemade (photoshop) images on my site but I am not sure if I can host them somewhere in CPanel or do I have to upload them to something like ImageFilez and use that to link to it? I thought I remembered last time I had a website that was made here I could upload it to file manager but I don't remember exactly. If I can put it on CPanel, where do I put it exactly?

I had to do a report in my technology class a couple of semesters ago. They actually have many plans in place to reduce the 'air clogs' due to flying cars. there are also many specifications these cars must meet like how loud they are for instance. There are many active companies trying to get the flying car market going right now. I just wouldnt want to be the air traffic controller when it comes to be like the Jetsons

I want to use a Database to keep track of members through a registration/login process. I also later down the road will need a larger database to hold information about actors. My question is, how do I go about making a database first for the registration/login page? I must let you know I don't know much about MySQL but am willing to learn. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

By NIC i mean the network card in my computer. Isn't there a special wireless on as opposed to a wired one? I have heard of wireless NIC's before so I was just assuming you needed one to use a wireless router.

Do wireless routers go through walls well? My router wont reach very far and I have computers in different rooms. I want to make sure this will work before I try getting one. Anyone have any recomendations on which kind of wireless router to get? Do I need new NIC's in my PC before I can use a wireless router?

The last movie I watched was Saw V. They are getting a bit repeditive but i still enjoyed it. It explains things more and more as the movies keep going. I wonder what Saw VI will be like now, because I know there will be one. I need to watch them all in order starting early in the morning so I can get through them all and catch all the little details I missed.

I know there are security issues with going wireless, but i cant keep buying 100ft ethernet cords through-out my house either. I was thinking of going wireless but don't know much about it other than people can use you connection. How would I configure a wireless router to keep people out of my network? For some reason I cant keep the house furniture in its current position for more than a couple of months without rearranging furniture and really want wireless but dont want the hassle of being hacked. Also, do i need to by a special NIC for a wireless router, I believe I do? Any help would be appreciated
