this is not true if, like in this case, you've got a trojan on your computer. the trojan program can open as many ports as it wants to. That's why they are so dangerous. But, if the hacker is trying to gain access without the benefit of a trojan, then it will be more difficult if ports are closed.

XP already runs like *BLEEP* on 128mb of memory. On XP you need atleast 196mb to run without always swapping to the hard drive. I suspect long horn will be the same if not more. Has anyone actually tried long horn yet? I was going to donwload it but didn't want to put it on my computer because it is probably more buggy than XP.

Your url doesn't work. So I guess nobody can really see what the problem is. Besides, Firefox doesn't always display stuff properly even if you have "validated" code. It could be a bug.. One time I had a div and tried to change the height but no matter what number I put in there it didn't change. I eventually, just put one line in the html that just showed the div with a border and it still didn't work.

just use your ftp program to delete the files. or you can log into cpanel and goto the file manager and delete them. ftp is the fastest way though. just go download one of those free ftp programs like cuteftp (just google it). then for the ftp server enter your web address (youraddress.trap17.com), put in your username and password. you will be able to delete the files simply by selecting them as you would in windows and hitting the delete key.

you can't give them away until google has given you some. you will see a link under your labels box on the left hand side of the screen if you have invites. It will say "invite 6 friends to gmail". For some reason, gmail gives out invites in 6's. the invitations are not given to everyone. i've heard that they give more invites to people who email a lot of people that aren't on gmail. also, those who give away invites that actually get used will get more invites. but this is all speculation. so far, ive given away like 50 or 60 but the invites seem to have slowed down lately... i've got a few i can spare if u need some...

well. to the mods here at Xisto (who are all anal about spam), double posting might be seen as a way to increase your post count. personally, I don't care and I would rather see the mods lighten up on "spam".

So, in all that work experience have you needed more than basic math? Remember, no school related stuff (ie your tutoring and labs, etc.) If you think being an engineer will require "high level" math, you are mistaken. Like i said before, COMPUTERS do all the work. Just so you know, I have a mechanical engineering degree and have worked in engineering jobs. Since my background is in engineering, many of my friends are also engineers in various disciplines. Many of my friends even went on to do an Masters in engineering.. their jobs don't require high level math skills.. Like I said before, there are obviously exceptions. Ok, now that i've got the engineering side covered.. I, unlike my friends, went on to do an MBA. And, I can tell you for a fact that all the people I met there do not use high level math in their jobs. The only part of business that MIGHT use high level math is financial engineering.. and that is a HIGHLY focused job dealing with producing models for predicting/analyzing risk, trends, etc. in the market. nobody is arguing this point. I never said that learning math is bad. I just said you will most likely require only basic math in your job. Is this so hard to understand?

So, you are looking down on trade workers and factory workers. Nice guy. You think just these type of jobs don't require more than basic math? You are sadly mistaken. You're previous post has already stated, you dont have work experience... so you cannot argue with me on this. I have had many jobs and know many people who have had many different TYPEs of jobs. Basic math is what most people use. Nothing more. obviously there are exceptions, please don't take everything so literally... man...

I didn't have any problems with that. I thought it was obvious. Totally agree with the scrolling. I am assuming ur using javascript for the up and down arrow to position and scroll. I think it is annoying how it jumps around like that when it scrolls. If I were you, you can use the same javascript for scrolling but use a div containing the arrows that is positioned in the same place. That way the arrows wont jump around when the content is scrolling.

like i said before you don't need math beyond the basics in everyday life.. And my everyday life doesn't include school, so i'm not doing science or nothing like that. once ur out of school, you really don't use math that much. Everybody i know doesn't use math much in their job at all. There's just no need for it with computers around.

you think pigeons are bad.. In canada there is a thing called the canada goose. they are like 10 times bigger than pigeons so they *BLEEP* 10 times more. At the park there is goose *BLEEP* ALL OVER the place.. you can't NOT walk in it... And its not like paste type *BLEEP*, it is paste with chunks of solid stuff mixed in there... And those geese stink too.. It is nasty.

I've forgotten all the math i learned. Now all I know is basic stuff like adding and subtracting. It is sad really, but that's life... nobody really needs math in everday life beyond the basics. Math is just something that they teach in school which hardly ever gets used in your job. Computers calculate everything nowadays. Only people that need to know math is the people who program the computers.

i think the problem with your post is that there wasn't really a point to it. I really don't see what you are trying to ask.. Are you asking someone to help you understand tensors? That's the only quesetion I could get from your post

most kids are morons. especially those from about 16-20 or 21... they think they know it all and are very stubborn. they cannot listen or even comprehend other viewpoints because they always think they are right. i see it all the time. also, they don't know the simplest things that are supposed to be common sense. some examples that come to mind... what is feces? what are power windows? this is coming from a 17 year old... my god..

technically speaking, the rant is not about grammar but about spelling.there is a difference between grammar and spelling. "inthernet speak" doesn't neccessarily mean it is improper grammar. ex. "I h8 u." is a grammatically correct sentence.

i heard there is another starcraft coming out. do you guys have any details on that? Like the release date or maybe some screen shots? Because warcraft 2 and warcraft 3 had such a huge differnece in controls, AI, etc. Is there any info out there on what the game is gonna be like in terms of the controls, gameplay, etc.?

yahoo upgraded to 250mb before hotmail. hotmail is the laggard in this case. In any event, this is solely a response to gmail which is why yahoo has no plans on increasing webspace for geocities. Besides, geocities sucks anyway... cant even ftp your files to your webspace.

When i use search to search forum (even when i click "view new posts"), the list shows up but the links are wrong. As a result the link leads to the 404 Xisto page. the links are of the format http://forums.xisto.com/topic/4568-domain-name-change/= if i take the parameter "&hl=" off the url. it works fine.

i'm not sure why page cannot be viewed on your machine.. maybe just reload it.. could be the server.as for it not looking right on a mac.. i've looked on a mac and it is different on every one. I'm pretty sure its the style sheet stuff that is screwed up but haven't had time to look at it.

Ya, i know. I want to put more space there but i also dont want to go bigger than 800x600. I'm actually thinking of someway to reduce the clutter and highlight the content. I've got a few ideas but really haven't had time to mess with it. Ya, i made it small so it wouldn't take up much space. it is just links to top sites. I don't really care about those links. In fact, I am thinking about taking them out all together.
