heheh this is how ftp addresses are put all together and interpreted by ftp clients web browsers ect your_host.com nothing strange bout it anyways i have tried to put this in the original syntax (the one given above) and the normal (user pass host )way both failed giving the 530 my ftp account(the main one) works great

hmm i used to use Cuteftp some time ago and i was quite happy but only until i found FLASHFXP . In my opinion this it the best ftp/fxp client . It doesn't have many advanced features(like cuteftp fe.) sll logging etc but it easy to use and overall nice . Its commercial though for free things you got loads to choose from and i mean loads you can try download.com with a search for "Ftp" using th license "free" i can recommend FILEZILLA has few bug but this is the most advanced ftp client from the open source for win32 shelf take care

hhetry google with setting up a server ok to get serious you need to know if you have you onw ip(even a dymanic one) many gig networs have only 1 external ip if yiu have it get apache i recoment easyphp.com apache etc all in one package extreamly easy to install and then if you wanna hava a ftp beside your http server try and find a ftp app that is suitable for you

yes but this is called a dictionary attackcouse it user a dictionary as possible passwords (word lists) a brute force attack is when a prewritten script uses pure alphabetical ,numerological( ) resources. In plain words it goes thru every letter and number regardless of what this combination would mean so a" brute force dictionary attack" sounds kinda fishy
