  1. Hey varalu,

I've just started using bbPress recently, and it's very good. It does lack some of these basic functions which is a bit of a shame, though.

I've had a look in the bbPress Plugin Directrory and found some plugins which do what you were asking:

bbPress Polls - I'm not sure whether you can limit it to only moderators creating polls, but it would be worth looking into

bbPress Signatures - it's written by _ck_ (the same person who wrote bbPress Polls) - he's quite well-regarded in the bbPress community. Seems to fit your requirements exactly. :)

Simple Onlinelist - displays a list of who's online

I haven't actually tried any of these plugins out yet, so I can't say whether they're any good or not. I do have some of _ck_'s other plugins running on my forum though, and they work quite well.

Best of luck with these. :)

  2. I have experienced the same thing since this morning (9.oo am GMT, it is now almost 7 pm), the only thing is, my site does load, but it is only since about 2 hours ago I can access the forum here, before I constantly got the message (I use Firefox as my browser) "This site is taking too long to load". When I try to access my Xisto Cpanel, the login screen appears, but ends up in giving me an empty white page.I can ping my smtp server (the one in the name of the domain I have hosted at Xisto), but when I try to send email I get "Unexpected failure, please try later", the same when i try to access the Xisto SMTP or POP3 server.

I am glad someone mentioned the announcement on Xisto, as, since I raised a ticket with them many hours ago, I never received a single reply.
This is all highly annoying and I really hope it will not go on for much longer.
I am very fortunate I finally managed to access the forum so i can add a bit of credit.

In all fairness, moving all their servers from one datacentre to another is a big and complicated task; it's likely all the people were too busy with the servers to answer your ticket quickly. Not to mention they probably had hundreds of similar tickets from other people who were wondering what happened.

http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ shows all the servers as being online again, but I'm still having trouble with mine. I am on a very slow (GPRS) connection, though - it might just be that.
    Can anybody else get on?

  3. There seems to be a problem with the order script:

Warning: Unknown: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/home/qupis/public_html/order/index.php) is not within the allowed path(s): (1) in Unknown on line 0
Warning: Unknown: failed to open stream: Operation not permitted in Unknown on line 0

Fatal error: Unknown: Failed opening required '/home/qupis/public_html/order/index.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/;) in Unknown on line 0

  4. Hi guys :-)

I got bored and ended up making a "Proud to be hosted by Xisto" and a "Proud to be hosted by Xisto" banner.
They're completely vector; I recreated the Xisto and Xisto logos using Inkscape. Admittedly, the text isn't too amazing...

I've got the source SVG if anyone wants to play around with it (and please feel free to):

Anyway, I hope you like them ;)

  5. If you're trying to access your notebook from a school or other public places, you'd be forced to go to the extension download page. That makes "accessing it from anywhere" harder than it has to be.

With me it only prompted me to download the software the first time I visited, and it hasn't since then.
If it keeps doing it, try going to https://www.google.com/googlenotebook/faq.html

just a questionwhere do google get all it;s money from? i mean they have all these programmers and servers and stuff. is it just a old lonely rich guy pumping money into it or are they really getting that much money from googleads?

I think they do get most of thier money from adsense and adwords, but they do also have Google Earth (the non-free version), the Google Search Appliance, the Google Mini, and there's probably some other stuff they get money from too. Don't forget the sponsored results, and ads in Gmail.

  6. I moved to Xisto - Web Hosting from Xisto, after I started drawing dangerously close to my 150MB limit.
The transition was quick and painless, and OpaQue was helpful throughout, but since I've switched, I've begun regretting moving.
Seeing I was now hosted on a seperate server "for unmatched performance and uptime", I expected hosting to be better, with no annoying downtime every time someone signed up for free hosting, and my sites running faster thanks to Xisto - Web Hosting's unique Website Optimisation, and Load Balancing Technology that was promised by thier website. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have worked out that way...
If anything, the gamma server was much more reliable than delta. Compared to delta, gamma had practically no downtime whatsoever. It seems as though I'm paying for a worse service than I could have had - from the same company - for free. And now, with my website's uptime unpredictable at best, the Xisto Helpdesk has malfunctioned, and is no longer displayingserver statuses.

Whinging over, I really appreciate the work done by OpaQue and everyone else at Xisto, I genuinely think that you offer the best hosting services I've ever come across, and am thankful for your hard work in times of difficulty like this. But, I don't think this is the way to treat paying customers. Could you please try to keep us informed as to what is currently happening to delta, and try to estimate when it'll be over? When will the Xisto Helpdesk be fixed?

Sorry this seems so negative. I need more sleep :(

  7. I've recently moved to paid hosting on Xisto - Web Hosting, transferring my hosting from Xisto. Even though I'm now on a different server, and paying for my hosting, I'm still loosing a hosting credit a day. It's no big deal, because my hosting isn't being suspended or anything (I've been in the negatives for quite a while now), but surely I shouldn't get charged hosting credits now that I'm not being hosted by Asta any more, should I?
