Which Is Faster Broadband, Dsl Or Cable
pbrugge replied to football123213's topic in Science and Technology
:angry:Please show me a source that says I am wrong cause all sources I checked say the same thing T1=1.5Mbps max atm. A few examples with the source to see for yourself. source source If you ment something like NxT1 which goes upto 7.5mbps your claim still is false even compared to adsl which goes upto 8.0mbps the only difrent is symetric and asymetric (so upload on adsl is slower max 1mbps) but not the overall download speed Greetz -
I vote gentoo I just love it I dont hate windows I think it is a great OS for most people only I cant get used to its layout and file handling [reaction to quote] You are making a few mistakes here, Most virusses and spyware come with warez files or e-mails so to make a statement that you wont get it just by not using IE is false, but I agree with you that IE is kinda crappy. There are worms and viruses for linux systems the only reason they dont have the same effect as windows viruses and worms is because of the restrictions you have in linux. In windows most people allways are logged in as a admin or power user and those profiles have total system access, linux users only become root if they need to be but the main login alway will be an restricted user that does not have total access. The statement that it is "your fault" if you get a virus is also a bit strange imo since a virus allways comes for the cure and when you get effected before your viruscompagny has a fix for it your screwed. The compagny you refure to about the GUI is Xerox btw And for your mac section I dont have any MAC knowledge so I will not comment it [end reaction to quote]

If you like to try that option the best thing yoiu can do is buy (or make) yourself an 3.5mm Jackplug 2 Phono. With that cable it is easy to setup the connection. It is a good option especially when your hifi is near your computer. 3.5mm Jackplug 2 Phono cable example

IE != Mozilla Back when Netscape was king and people only coded for NS (long time ago, but it did happen), Netscape's UA string had "Mozilla" in it (it stood for "Mosaic Killa", making fun of Mosaic, the other browser at the time). Most coders would search for "Mozilla" to generate content, and in order for IE to get any kind of use at all they too had to put "Mozilla" in the UA string. It's kinda like how Opera and Konqueror allows you to identify as IE right now

Best Stuff for Free i would like to know
pbrugge replied to PenDragon's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Mhh frontpage and helping with html design in one line I used frontpage ones and oke I think it is a nice program for grannies and little girls/boys that want to make a site about there dog or cat but for the reall thing? The reason I say this is becaue I work with css and w3c compatible sites and if there is one thing frontpage is bad at it is w3c and css support. Also the code genrated with FP is much to big imo and contains lots of garbage. Since you are using FP I asume you use windows so I will not bother you with quanta (linux html editor) nor vi but I really would suggest you to learn propper (x)html and css and take another look at FP to see what features you are missing (and thats allot) a nice freeware editor I used in windows is TSW WebCoder http://www.tswwebcoder.com/?gid=1 -
Indeed instead of downloading warez (viruses, spyware anyone? ) you also could take a look at the opensource community. HEre you can find stuff like Gimp which is a good replacement for psp or photoshop. Since I am a linux user I cannot use psp or photoshop (without emu) so I am using Gimp for a few years already. It has most features and filters psp and photoshop have and you can write your own scripts for it both in Gimps own language as in python if you like. Its not only for image manipulation or drawing you als can make animated gifs with it just as easy as count from 1 to 3. An advanged example to give the you an idea what gimp can do can be found here: https://www.gimp.org/tutorials/Advanced_Animations/

I cannot tell you what the best speakers would be just because thats a personal thing, the best tip I can give you is to go to a good computerstore and hear it for yourself. At my old job we had a special place that we used to settup speakers for costumers if they wanted to hear the sound so they knew what they bought because imo thats the best way. But... If you are looking for a good setup just to play music and not for dvd's there is another option namely to plug your home hifi set to the computer (use a cable from soundcard ->aux) this will give awesome sound and will be much better as any speakerset you could buy for 100P.

Best PPC option Which is the best Pay-per-Click option?
pbrugge replied to googlue's topic in Online Advertising
Kliks is good, but since you have to live in holland or belgium (dutch myself ) I dont think people on this forum will use it. The best would be a ppk-provider that works like kliks only international based. I must say I have not found one yet but I am still looking for it. Ow for people that live in the netherlands that have the same question. kliks.nl pays every three months aslong as the money you have the minimum amount of 25euro, if you have less the money will be transfured to the next period untill you have the minimum. -
Here is a nice tutorial the workarround starts at point 4 but I suggest to read it all so you have all the info you need http://ghost.radified.com/ghost_2.htm Goodluck

I am using linux for almost 6 years already. Nowdays I am using gentoo but I started with debian, the thing with linux is that you must read allot of manpages if your stuck learn how to setup an /opt directory where you install optional apps is also a good idea, since in that way it is easy to uninstall optional stuff you dont use any more. Also installing stuff is easy in most distro's you can use redhats-rpm files debian-apt or gentoos-emerge if you know how to work with that installing and removing software is easy as hell. Sometimes a package you want is not in the installers tree so you need to compile it yourself:./configure --prefix blablamake sudo make install Easy as hell and your incontroll of the os

If the main purpose is to browse the internet you dont need a 1Ghz or higher in that case an 486 will do fine theoreticly speaking, I dont know what kind of OS it is that you use but I think it does not really matter what cpu you choose aslong as it is not the minimum supported cpu on the OS you are using. NOTE: this is if your system will be used for office applications and internet only so not for games or multimedia like divx ect.

Look in the output of "dmesg" if you see any errors since normaly if you can gain access to X with root it should work for a normal usser to.Or upload the output of "dmesg"somewhere and post a link here so we can see what is going wrong.

If wish to rollback from WMP10, you must check the "Show Updates" button in the Add/Remove Programs control panel, as WMP10 is a system update. from there you can remove it without any flaw

Since SP2 IE also has a popup stopper buildin, the only big problem I have with IE is the lack of good .png and css2 support. Btw I use firefox to and its great I must say

best linux distro for servers and desktops
pbrugge replied to whatknows's topic in Operating Systems
I guess most distro's are good for it aslong as you use stable packages (so not the bleeding edge).debian (woody that is)slackwareredhat gentoo All good for server purphas imo A server does not need to have a gui so you can keep it nice and small (configuration can be done by console or webmin) (btw bsd != linux)non-linux and best for server imo (free that is)freebsdBut the distro you use is not that important you can set all linux distros the way you want so to be honnoust there is not a reall best linux distro for webhosting imo. It all lays in your handsI used, debian, slack, redhat and now I have gentoo as workstation aslong as you use stable packages you will be fine -
