  1. HiI guess some people only like where they are. I am french but have lived in the states for years, my dad back home used to say that the south of France was the place to be that we were so lucky to live there. Upon moving to the states, I heard the same from my american father in law.To live in Connecticut was a gift given by god, Florida has hurricanes, California earthquakes, Wisconsin is too cold but Connecticut was the center of the planet to him.So then I moved to Georgia, I wanted to be in a warmer place, and it's the same here, people say constently how lucky they are to live in north Georgia and yadayadayada.....I have never been like that, I love my native south of France, Connecticut and New england are charming, Georgia hot and hospitable but there is more out there to be seen. For me the paradise and place to be is in the pacific ocean, give me a beautifull island ringed with palm trees, a turquoise lagoon full of colorfull fish and I am the happiest guy on earth. Some day when I am older and retired on one of these islands, one kid will be hearing me say "This is the place to be kid, we are so lucky to be here!" and that kid will probably looking at me thinking "What a moron!". So where is the place you would like to live beside where you are now?Patrick
  2. HiMy goal in life is to be financially secure. So I currently work like an animal to pay my home and the rest. I ain't no kid like most of you, I am married and have a daughter. In about 5 years if it all goes well, I will have reached an important financial goal which is paying my mortgage off and then I will be able to start travelling with the extra money.Places I will hit first will be the islands of the pacific and Indian ocean.Patrick
  3. HiWell I don't know your particular camera, and am not a photographer but I do own a Fuji digital camera. As said before, you are not required to keep your camera on at all times as your pictures are stored on the memory card or the camera itself if it has a built in memory.Or you did not take the pictures correctly or you erased them all by accident, the best thing to do at this point would be to read the manual and learn how to use the camera. Load the software on your PC and then upload the pics on your PC, it's all automated and painless, follow the instructions. If you really are clueless, I would go back where I purchased it and these people will definitely help you get started.Patrick
  4. HiI like the little pinkish individual windows. On the other end the top pic black color on the bottom of it should be worked on maybe in photoshop as the black does not match your homepage background black. I ain't a photoshop specialist but I am sure someone could help you do that easily. Also I am looking at your site using I.E. 6.0 and on the top right, some fonts cross the top pink window, something went wrong there.I like the pics all over, they look good.Good luckPatrick
  5. HiYour site is quite interesting. There is stuff I like and other I don't. I do not like the use of all different colors, I usually pick 3 and that's it. Also on the homepage, there is too much empty space on the bottom. On the other end I really like your leftside navigation with the little electric animation when the cursor rests on it.I think you are on the right pass but there is room for improvement.Good luckPatrick

    Pentium Vs Amd

HiI have been an intel pentium consumer for years but was wondering what are the pros and cons to both chips?I am not ready to buy a new PC, my current one is fine but shall I look at switching to AMD when the day will come?I have heard AMD is better and faster than pentium but nothing more really.ThanksPatrick
  7. HiLike many folks I have been playing around with site building for a while but having a non related full time job, how can I start working for money in this field?Yes build a few free sites here and there but after that? How do you get jobs even if they are temporary to get an income out of it?Thanks for your inputPatrick
  8. HiI have been on Ebay for years. At the beginning at was mostly a buyer as I collect lots of stuff and some really good bargains could be found. Now Ebay has become a seller's market, it's getting a lot harder to find something good at a bargain price. The whole world browse it for items.Put a van gogh painting and it will go higher than what you could help to get in a regular auction. It's good if you want to sell. I buy and sell, DVD's, comics and plastic models on Ebay but mostly sell, I buy locally where I can still dig bargains.Patrick
  9. HiI received a Zire 31 last christmas and absolutly love it, I keep it handy all the time. I use the free PIlot-DB database to enter my DVD collection, along with games and all kind of stuff. What would you guys recommend as a step up to the Zire 31?I don't need the latest ones of course, reading my email would really be cool along with web browsing, I think that's blue tooth technology right? Thanks in advancePatrick
  10. HiWell I for one would rather use Firefox, I don't want to help Microsoft monopoly all the time but I got to admit I am so used to I.E. that the switch is rather hard. I am used to I.E. for downloads especially and I find the loading time of pictures slow in firefox. So I guess i'll keep on using both for a while.Patrick
  11. HiI think it is number two at the box office as of this writing. It sounds appealling but I saw the trailer and am not really convinced. I don't go to the movies very often and the last time was for the day after tomorrow and it was barely OK in my book, I was expecting a lot better.I am not a Constantine comic book fan either, actually I didn't know about it until I read an article about the movie and they mentionned it was based on a comic book.So please let us know how well you liked it or not, I hate to waste my money. Thanks a lotPatrick
  12. HiHas anybody tried Star trek elite force 2 yet?I am taking a trip in the past and playing the first one and have been pleasantly surprised. It's very good, very entertaining, never a dull moment and the first person combat gets your adrenaline pumping.I love the infiltration missions, you really get a feeling of being alone in the enemy's jaws.I will definitely get the second one after that.Patrick
  13. HiDoes anybody own a PDA here?I got a Zire 31 for christmas and it's kind of an amazing little device, I mostly got it to keep up with my growing DVD collection. I had started buying the same movies twice and figured to have a PDA in my pocket, I could check which movies I owned while buying in stores. The neat thing is that I have found a program with a desktop compagnion, so I can enter the movies directly on my PC which is much easier than using the stylus on the PDA.Then there is a file that I also back up on CDR after every update so if I lose all my info on the PDA and on the PC, I can still restore from that file.Back up, back up and then back up, isn't it what they say?Patrick
  14. HiAny rugby fans here?Wow! What a game!A nail bitter til the end. I thought my beloved french team was done at the half down 17-6.But no thanks to french kicker Dimitri Yachvili who scored all 18 points and only missed two far away 50 yarders or so.England scored the only 2 trys of the game but their kickers just couldn't convert much points. Not even an easy drop in the final minute which would have given England a 2 points win.I don't think the best team won today (France), I think the less worse did. England just isn't what it used to be when they won the world title, but they'll be back as France has when they too went downhill in the past.Unbeaten Wales will visit France in Paris in 2 weeks and England visits also unbeaten Ireland. At this point I think it will be between Wales and France for the title as Ireland as already beaten Italy which is a (Supposed) easy win.Best of luck to your teamsPatrick

    Your Hobby

HiHere are mine:1) WEB DESIGNI am an amateur and learning daily or when I can do it. I have a full time job and it's not always easy to work on my site or learn new stuff.2) DVD'sI collect DVD's, all kinds of movies. My favorites are horror and sci-fi.3) TRAVELLove to travel and visit new places especially in the tropics. I don't do it as often as I want but in the future I should be able to travel more.4) BUILD MODELSI love to build models, mostly tanks, aircrafts and warships. Got that from being a kid and still love it. I don't have enough time for this and only build 1 or 2 yearly but I find it relaxing and satisfying.5) SOCCERlove to watch soccer on TV, being from Europe I don't miss much of world cup, euro and champion's league action.Patrick
  16. HiI am taking that route myself and have been focusing on the following languages/software.1) HTMLIf you want to do web work, either design or programming, there is no way around that. It is easy and can be mastered in a short period of time. Also if like me you make extensive use of CSS then it would only be faster to learn (Bye bye tables!).2) CSSThis was my second step in the process. I am far from being a master but using it to create a couple of sites, tought me a lot. It's all trial and error. What does work and what doesn't.3) PHOTOSHOPIf you are going to be only doing web programming, this is not absolutly required, but it is still better to know the basics. I have created amazing banners and logos with it. Again lots of trial and errors but that's the only way to learn.I don't want to specialize in graphics but anybody could ask me to create a basic functionnal banner and I could do it.4) PHP/MYSQLHere is the biggest one. Now starts the real programming part. It will take you years to master these two and only one hour to write an entry level program.I just created a guestbook for my site, it surprised me how much needed to be done and learned, opening the database, storing data to it, retrieving it and displaying it in browser while creating a filter for bad words and a couple of other things. Again a lot of trial and error, very frustrating at time but done in the end.5) JAVASCRIPTVery optionnal, if you know PHP that will be a breeze. Good for client side validation, pop ups or image rollovers. The code can be found easily online, no need to reinvent the wheel. Used for optionnal things only and have PHP backing it up as javascript can be disabled in browsers.Patrick
  17. HiI am afraid of heights also and have had a few bad experiences. I am from France and used to live near Paris. At school we went on a field trip to Notre Dame cathedral, what a beautiful place.Well they took us to the roof and there were areas that had no railings so you could have jumped easily. When I saw that I said loud something like "I ain't going near the edge" and of course some of the studends picked up on that and started trying to make me go there like it was funny. They had no idea how scared I was, so I just took off and went right back inside the cathedral. My main lesson on this one was not to say what scared you when surrounded by buddies, young males or the likes.I got scared another time when I was with my girlfriend who would become my wife and we were at a fair. She wanted to go at the faris wheel and I wasn't too hot but figured what the heck. She knew I didn't like heights.Well we were with another couple and we got stuck on the top for like 15 minutes, don't know what went wrong, they had a technical problem. There was a ring that you could turn to make the car spin and the other guy with us did it for like straight 5 minutes.Having learned my lesson at Notre Dame I played like cool that wasn't scared and thought it was funny and he quickly stopped.I haven't done that ride ever since in fairs.I ain't afraid of spiders, snakes and crowds and have been with several people which I saw freak out upon seeing a spider or stuff like that.Patrick
  18. HiOk let's see 5, wooow that's tough I have seen so many.1) The others2) 28 days later3) The exorcist 4) Trespass5) The wallVoilaPatrick
  19. HiMost of you here mention disliking Golf, that's kind of amazing, you guys can't be americans. I am from Europe and have lived in the states for 13 years and everybody here loves Golf either to play or watch on TV.I hate Golf to watch on TV anyway, I am in Atlanta and there is a big tourney that comes once a year, what a zoo it is, everybody gets so exited, traffic gets really bad (Like we need that here to make it bad.).I think to watch I really hate ice skating during the winter olympics, other than that golf, nascar racing. To be an active part I do hate sailing, I have done it once in europe with friends who tried to convince me it would be great.Well you don't do nothing for 45 minutes and suddenly for 10 you got to pull all kinds of ropes left and right while the head skipper calls you all kind of names.Never again. To watch my number one is soccer, two is rugby, three is american football(NFL only, the big games.)To be a part of maybe bowling.Patrick
  20. HiI see the patriots too, I think it's going to be very frustrating for the Eagles. They won't do to the pats what they did to the Falcons and Vikings, and they won't be home.I actually see a blowout like 41 to 10 patriots.I love their kicker too Viniateri, does he ever miss the big ones?Patrick
  21. HiThanks a lot guys, the first example will do me fine.Patrick
  22. HiIs there a PHP already made function to ensure that an email field in a form contains the @?I don't want the whole validation including regular expression, just want to check if user has typed the @.Thanks a lot guysPatrick
  23. HiWoW!!!This is a big stunner. A referee of the bundsliga has been fixing games in order to let high bidders win and get some money himself. It all came to light when a game between hamburg and another team which I forgot was tied at 2-2 and that other team got two penalty kicks awarded that were nonexistant. Also a Hamburg player was sent off.The referee has admited to everything and is cooperating. Heads are gonna roll.Germany didn't need that before to host the next world cup.One crooked referee is going to ternish the german soccer federation reputation.I hope they make him and the others pay for that, soccer and any sport should be clean of these clowns.Patrick
  24. HiI think the plane is going to be very cost efficient, flying more passengers for each trip. Tickets will be very affordable as far as I have heard. The bigger the planes the safest they are supposed to be. Fedex and UPS in the states have ordered several as it will cost the same to run as their other planes but will carry a third more in packages.Airlines that will purchase it can have it customized the way they want it with full suites, gym area and all sort of things.Maybe an 18 holes golf course? Ok kidding on that last one Patrick
  25. HiI play games once in a while and especially I like CRPG's. The last one I played was morrowind which I though was fabulous. I do have the two add ons for it.Is there anything like it out right now? The CRPG would have to be a first person one as I don't like stuff like diablo or fallout.Lots of monsters to hack and slash in first person. Thanks for your inputPatrick
