  1. I used to be scared about those sort of things when I was younger. One day I decided that I would just try dropzone, and it turned out to be a whole lot of fun. As for skydiving I was actually thinking of getting my skydiving license earlier this year, but I decided not too because I realized that it would cost a lot of money to get the license and then get my own gear. (I wouldn't trust renting gear I rather have my own). I'm not really scared of anything anymore, these days its a lot safer to take risks then it used to be. So skydiving, bungee jumping have become very safe sports. The opposite of safe however is Base Jumping, thats one thing that I would probably never do. One thing I would definetly love to try is para skiing. Check it out here: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Looks like so much fun, but then again if you catch wind or even just loose control of the parachute you could be in a lot of trouble.
  2. Still didn't work, I'm probably not doing something right, again my goal is to get rid if the small gap between the flash header and the Welcome bar just below it. Here is my current website code for reference. <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ xmlns="http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /><title>Magik - Clantemplates.com</title><link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css" type="text/css" /><script type="text/javascript" src="script.js"></script> <script src="Scripts/AC_RunActiveContent.js" type="text/javascript"></script></head><body><div class="wrap"> <script type="text/javascript">AC_FL_RunContent( 'codebase','http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,28,0','width','755','height','225','src','header1','quality','high','pluginspage','https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/; ); //end AC code</script><noscript><object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,28,0" width="755" height="225"> <param name="movie" value="header1.swf" /> <param name="quality" value="high" /> <param name="wmode" value="transparent" /> <embed src="header1.swf" width="755" height="225" quality="high" pluginspage="https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/; type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent"></embed> </object></noscript> <div class="main"> <div class="leftside"> <div class="side-header"> <img src="images/login.jpg" alt=""/> </div> <div class="side"> <div class="sideheader"> </div> <form action="" method="get" id="login"> <div class="sidecontent"> <br /><img src="images/username.jpg" alt=""/> <input type="text" class="form" value="" /> <br /><img src="images/password.jpg" alt=""/> <input type="text" class="form" value="" /> Forgot password? <br /> Register for free! <input type="submit" class="submit" value="" /> </div> </form> <div class="sidefooter"> </div> </div> <div class="side-header"> <img src="images/affilates.jpg" alt=""/> </div> <div class="side"> <div class="sideheader"> </div> <div class="sidecontent"> <img src="images/affilates/ct.jpg" alt=""/> <img src="images/affilates/rw.jpg" alt=""/> <img src="images/affilates/ct.jpg" alt=""/> </div> <div class="sidefooter"> </div> </div> <div class="side-header"> <img src="images/servers.jpg" alt=""/> </div> <div class="side"> <div class="sideheader"> </div> <div class="sidecontent"> Server Teamspeak and Server information will be added here.</div> <div class="sidefooter"> </div> </div> </div> <div class="rightside"> <div class="main-header">Welcome</div> <div class="main-content"><p>Welcome to the Children of Conan guild. 3. In my opinion I think that there is a big difference between graffiti and gang graffiti. But the truth to the matter is that most graffiti seen on the streets is gang affiliated. If it looks abnormally nice with no gang affiliation it was probably done legally by an artist of some sort. I agree with you though.I don't think its wrong, but it is still illegal and I think it should stay illegal. I think that if artists get caught in the action of doing so they can get off with less because of the fact that it wont be gang affiliated. However gang members should get a harder punishment and actually should be put in jail if proved to be participating in a Gang.
  4. I just set up this website, none of the links are in working condition yet. This is mainly because im trying to get rid of this anoyying gab in between my flash object and my welcome bar (its the small dark grey/brownish gap). Does anyone know exactly how to fix this without messing anything else up vis changing the code or possibly even the size of the flash? Thanks. Here is the website: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Notice from jlhaslip: Moved to html section in anticipation of that being the correct Forum
  5. Thats one of the funny things I have ever heard of. It really seems like a joke or just a society thats against the government in general. There are a lot of funny groups these days that provide theories and information that seems impossible but there is evidence to back it up which is pretty strange indeed. Another one that ive heard of is the treetopus. Basically the theory that some octopuses live on land, it sounds ridiculous but reading the article about it is actually a very interesting subject.
  6. I agree with you on how the world is always changing but, there is evidence that global warming is changing the environment in abnormal ways. For instance I wrote an essay on how the affects of global warming has effected the growing seasons and day lengths in Canada compared to southern Florida. Pitcher plant mosquitoes have had to genetically adapt to this change in the environment as well as the climate. You can see the article I wrote about it here: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/56936-global-warming-and-mosquitoes-pitcher-plant-mosquitoes-do-they-react-to-temperature-or-climate-chan/. My belief is that that Global Warming is just a growing issue that has plenty of evidence to back it up. As well as the change in the environment people are going to have to do the same and change the ways we have been treating the environment by cutting down on Greenhouse gases and using alternative methods to producing energy as well as alternate fuels for transportation use, we will be seeing more of this in the future let me tell you. Thats a FACT.
  7. I have a Ford F150 Lariat edition which is Navy Blue, I love it. However it was stolen Jr. year in high school, so I bought the same truck a couple of months later because I loved it so much. Same color and everything, on and the stolen was an 2004 and the new one is a 2005. My insurance covered piratically all of it, I only had to pay around 4,000 dollars for it brand spakin new.
  8. The main environmental cue that initiates winter dormancy in mosquitoes has to do with seasonal changes rather than temperature change. The main reason why mosquitoes in Canada are becoming genetically similar to those of mosquitoes in southern U.S. is because of climate change. The two climates are becoming much similar and since the mosquitoes change genetically according to seasonal change rather than temperature change they have become more alike genetically. ?Evidence such as the simulation of the southern climate showed a fitness loss of about 88%, but this was due to incorrect seasonal cues. The temperature wasn?t much of a factor? (Bradshaw 1477). Although the mosquitoes are becoming similar genetically, just by placing them in a different environment is proof that they wouldn?t be able to survive. If the climate changed drastically enough it could mean extinction. This shows that mosquitoes don?t react to the temperature in the environment but they more specifically react to the seasonal changes that occur in the environment. As humans its part of our job to keep the world going. The actions we take almost always affect the environment around us. Other living things such as birds, plants, and insects all have a job in our environment as well. Without these animals we wouldn?t be able to live our lives, they are all part of the ecosystem as well as us. If one goes extinct it?s going to affect another organism. If bees went extinct, plants wouldn?t be able to pollinate and it would cause an extinction of that plant which could also possibly be part of a larger animals diet. It?s almost like a domino effect, once one falls it will nock down the others. So if we cause a change in the environment which kills off one organism its most likely going to affect more than just one. The thing about environmental changes is that it not only affects one organism but it affects all of us. This combined with the domino effect could cause an extinction of more than just a couple of organisms. If organisms can?t adapt to the environment it could cause an extinction of species.Bibliography Bradshaw, William E. ?CLIMATE CHANGE: Evolutionary Response to Rapid Climate Change.? Bio Rad. 9. Nice man, being a musician myself I can see how they would flow well. Only thing im interested now is hearing how you would sing it. Good writing though, from reading it sounds like you must be a band between like soft/rock to -punk or hard rock? Which one was right lol.Im currently in a Hard Rock/Metal band. I both sing and play the guitars, but I enjoy singing more.
  10. The next physical you have you should discuss it with you're doctor. But im 100% sure that this is a sleep disorder. What happens is you wake up when you are in the dreaming state, although you might feel you're heart rate and breathing rate is low, but in reality it is the normal rate of which you sleep at (everyone sleeps with an abnormal heart rate, its because it lowers the important thing is the fact that it doesn't start beating. Think about it, its logical...you're heart beats 24/7 a day until the day you die. Like all muscles the heart needs to rest. During sleep this is the time it can do that, so the heart rate slows down dramatically. Your heart rate and breathe rate differ when you are awake and asleep. Whats essentially happening is that you're waking up when the rest of your body is still essentially paralyzed. Talk to your doctor and rely this information to her and she will believe you for sure. Edit: added quote citation.
  11. I beleive in heaven and hell but also reincarnation. I think that when you go to your judgement before god he has three options.1) Send you to heaven.2) send you to hell3) Put you back on earth as another form/animal (like a smaller punishment other than hell for an eternity)Thats just my opinion but to me it makes perfect sense.
  12. Same here. IMO your friend has a major problem, cafeine is however an addicting drug once you drink enough of it and since Cola does have a extrodinary ammount in it thats def the problem. If we switched to diet coke for example he could porb gradually quit drinking cola easier. Is he even concerned at all about the negative impacts it has on his health cause to me it sounds like if you drank that much you're teeth would be discolored or at least falling out.
  13. Has anyone here looked at this game. I'm actually really anticipating this one and part of the reason why I am here is hosting for the guild I am making. There are some good in-game videos here you should def check them out here: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  14. Here are some of my favorite movies this year. Note: there are some from last year because nothing this year has been able to nock them out of the spot.1) Children of Men2) No Country of Old Men3) Blood Diamond4) The Departed5) EquilibriumWhat are you're favorite movies of the year/ all time?
  15. I like college mainly for the fact of seeing and meeting so many new people. I also enjoy it because of my fraternity rushing experience, its been a lot of fun. Also the parties are pretty fun too, I know thats not what college is all about but its def a plus side of things. I'm basically saying that all those stereotypical movies with parties everywhere actually comes true once you get there.
  16. I wrote this in a college essay and I felt I should share it as I found this topic very interesting. The recent study of chimpanzees, bonobos and other primates has in fact made an astonishing impact of what was recently thought about non-human primates. The truth to the matter is that these animals are actually more intelligent and mentally capable than recently thought to be. Some researchers are even saying that these primates? poses levels and types of intelligence thought only to be used by humans. These tests and studies conducted show unequivocal demonstrations of advanced mental capabilities that prove that primates are our closest relatives. Primates are intelligent mammals and do show demonstrations of unique mental capacity, but there are other explanations as well as these tests that show how these animals are so relatively similar to humans. Some of these explanations relate to the early stages of human growth after a newborn comes into this world. The fact that primates do similar things as us humans is probably the most ideal explanation of why we are so similar. In the early stages of life as a human we cant walk, talk, or see anything. Like primates our mother/father must look after us in order to survive. During this time we are dependant on our parents to look after us. Like humans, primates need parental care until they have fully matured. The only big difference is that non-human primates don?t take as long as humans to fully mature. Primates might take around 6-7 years to fully mature while humans need 17-18 years until they are ready to be off on their own. During the first couple of years developing non-human primates and humans are neck in neck in the development race. They develop at the same rate and they posses the same abilities mentally as each other. However by the time a human child is able to put together blocks and simple block puzzles is where the non-human primate falls behind. Another factor that distinguishes non-human primates alike from us is the ability to recognize themselves in the mirror. Humans and primates are some of the few mammals that are capable of doing this. This proves that apes have a bigger mental capacity then recently thought. ?The relatively large and absolutely more complex brains of primates allow them to take in, store, retrieve, and process more information in more complicated ways than other mammals? (Feder 116). Non-human primates also have the ability to store and memorize information that is present in the outside world. In some cases primates can actually be better at these things than humans. In Japan there was a test conducted using a TV screen where ?students and chimps saw an array of five of the numerals 1 through 9 flash onto a computer screen for just 650 milliseconds. When the numerals simultaneously turned into white squares, the subjects had to touch the squares in numerical order. The students managed to choose the squares in the correct order around 80 percent of the time, as did Ayumu, a young chimp, says Kyoto's Tetsuro Matsuzawa. The researchers then shortened the viewing time to 430 ms and finally to just 210 ms, which isn't even enough time for a person's eye to scan across a screen. For the briefest exposures, the students got the sequence right only 40 percent of the time, but Ayumu still managed nearly 80 percent accuracy? (Milius 355). Chimps have similar metal capacity than humans. Ayumu the chimp was able to memorize the numbers just like the humans and even better than when put to faster flashing speeds. It is said that the chimp probably has good photogenic memory. Maybe non-human primates are more perceptive in this area for a reason, its what they do in the wild that requires this sort of memory or mental capacity. It?s the perceptive memory that helps them recognize trees and areas in which they live in. For humans we might not be as well perceptive simply because the world we live in is more easily distinguishable. ?The power to retain extreme detail from a quick glimpse shows up occasionally in young children but fades with age? (Milius 355). So humans might not be as perceptive as young chimps but it?s really close enough to make a point on how similar we truly are to apes mentally as well as the physical characteristics. Chimpanzees and other non-human primates show each other how they are in control by picking bugs out of one another?s hair. Humans in similar ways do the same thing to show dominance over one another. The big difference between human and ape behavior is the fact that dominance is usually displayed through language instead of the ape?s way of physically doing so by combing the hair. Combing the hair of another group member in a chimpanzee?s world shows dominance but it also shows that they use this to keep leaders and members in their groups. Humans use persuasion through language to keep group members. The most similar thing is the fact that non-human primates and humans both have groups in their society and they both use a form of persuasion to keep control if they are the dominate ones within the group. Humans always have one dominate leader. We do so by voting for our leader and in a similar way primates get to choose who they want as their leader. It?s the communication and grouping factors that also provide support that we are similar mentally to that of a non-human primate. Primates are intelligent mammals and they show demonstrations of unique mental capacity. These tests as well as explanations show how humans are so relatively similar to non-human primates. The most important factor that actually shows how primates are different from humans is the fact that they do not posses the ability to understand language. That?s one of the main things that set us apart from non-human primates as well as the physical characteristics. After looking at some of these researchers results as well as the similar characteristics with humans. It?s safe to say that primates display similar levels and types of intelligence as well as mental capacity then that of humans. Primates are our closest relatives, but this even further concludes how similar these animals truly are to us. Bibloigraphy Feder, Kenneth L. Park, Michael Allan. Human Antiquity. 17. My weirdest Dreams:1) I was standing in this dark room, there was no light whatsoever but somehow I could still see. There was a faint glint and I started walking towards it when I got closer I realized it was a glass tree. I climbed the ladder to the top of the vase and jumped across telling myself not to fall into the water where the soil was, although the liquid was dark and I couldnt see the soil. I started climbing the tree and when I got to the top and looked down there were two of my childhood friends standing below looking up at the vace. As soon as I saw them I fell from the tree and landed in the water surprisingly I didnt wake up like most dreams, instead I stood up and looked down thinking that I would see a soft patch of soil. I was wrong however, it was glass. Shards of glass, I then looked up and the dream ended. The significant thing about this dream is that these two friends are people I havent seen in a very long time. A couple of months after the dream I ran into them. Both of them were together and it was just me, like the dream. So we hung out lol. 2) I was in this field with my brother and he was like can you do that? I looked up and there was a helicopter flying doing barrel rolls. I said yes and we got into this helicopter and started flying. The controls where stuck however and we kept soaring upwards into the clouds. So far up that everything was just white, then as soon as I reached the top I saw a faint light. It was like yellow or goldish and it shined down on us. But then the helicopter dropped strait towards the ground and before it hit the ground I woke up.Very scary dream if you ask me, I thought I was dead. Or going to hell.....3) So I was at school with my friends at palo alto and then I heard the bell ring.. Evveryone started going to class and I realized that i ahd no idea where I was going, part of the reason was because I was in Palo Alto not Arizona where I go to school. So I left and got on a mo-ped, I was driving the moped and started doing wheelies showing off stuff and a polic walked by and I signaled him to keep moving and he listened. Next thing I knew I was at a stoplight and this girl rides by on the moped, I whispered to myself come-back and she did and I signaled her to folow me. We went into the park and thats where things got a little interesting :lol:still weird *bottom* dream but yea it was fun I woke up as soon as things got interesting... pooey
  18. I posted this tutorial here a very long time ago, almost been 2 years since then and its helped a lot of people increase their speed, so here it is: The first step is to go start/run. Next in the run bar type "msconfig" Now here is where you need to be, the system configuration utility. Here are some programs that you don't need necessarily, you can disable witch ever ones you feel are necessary. (dont disable microsoft programs unless you're sure). Here is an example of what program I unchecked: ------------------------------ The next step go under startup and uncheck the programs that you don't want to run when your computer starts up. Its like for instance AOL when it starts running when your computer loads. You don't want this to load because it slows your computers speed. Make sure you don't uncheck microsoft applications unless you're sure it has nothing to do with the bios or hardware etc. Here are some of the programs I unchecked: ------------------------------------------- Thats it you're done. Restart you're computer and you should notice some smooth riding. I hope this helps some people.
  19. I did this sig a while ago and wanted to you guys to see my finished product from a ways back. I kinda forgot about this one . R&C Please.
  20. This is funny and proof how well someone can improve. When I first saw your sigs Garbage they seemed like they were missing something but now I can see how much you have improved from last time I came to Xisto I really like this sig and I like the techniques you used to make everything flow smoothly. Awesome job.
  21. The new ps3 system along with its controllers is going to have a state of the art GPU system and CPU system. This will be geared towards more high def gaming and more pixels and particle effects. Thats why the ps3 is going to be so expensive, its also going to include the next gen blue ray HD DVD player witch is an awesome feature in-itself. But seriously the price imo is way too steep. They need to fine tune their system and make it a lot cheaper in price. This is why the Microsoft 360 will have sold more systems and also this is due because of the upcoming Halo 3 witch is sceduled to release this upcoming Holiday. I cant wait!
  22. You might want to check ebay also. I mean you can always find what you want on there for a really good deal if not better than a store etc. Just a suggestion.
