  1. Some members posted something about this subject. Thank you for bringing this up. The responses in the other posts might explain why this subject is brought to the forum in many pieces.
  2. Instructions part 10 Plagiate In a topic that can be found in the basement of the forum Admin vujsa explains a little bit about spam and plagiate. If a member of the staff thinks that a post contains content, that is copied from another webpage and that is pasted into a post on the forum that post can get deleted. An amount of 150% of the mycents that are earned by the post gets deducted from the credits of the poster. To avoid the risk that a complete tutorial gets deleted it seems more safe to write instructions about something and to post the instructions part by part. Answers to posts of other members, mistakes in the texts, words and grammar and the use of certain words and the way sentences are built can indicate that the information and the content are invented and written by the member who puts the post in the thread. In most cases the way an article is written shows very soon that the article is copied from a source on the internet. For instance the distance way of speaking, the professional use of words and terms and the overall professional look of an article show and indicate very fast that the content is copied from another source. The possibility, that a post is considered plagiate because of the high level of the content, is not a big issue in this thread. The possibility, that mycents are lost because a post is unintentionally considered to be copied and pasted and to be plagiate is a risk that is worth to be avoided. This thread deals with this topic too. About negative mycents The risk of getting a tutorial deleted because it looks like an article written by somebody else is a little bit off topic. So there is reason to point to another thread about this subject. While it is stated in this thread that it looks nicer and more organized when a set of instructions are posted in one complete piece and in one post in the department of the forum dedicated to tutorials it seems appropiate to respond to that opinion in this thread too. To give complete information and to back up the information given in this post and to give a kind of proof that the information is based on a another post found in another department of the forum the text of the post of Admin vujsa is posted and quoted here too. Link to the post of Admin vujsa.
  3. Information about negative mycents More information In the start post it is stated, that mycents can get negative. There is some information about negative mycents in the bottom of the forum. And the posts over there offer some insight in the topic of this thread. According to the post of vujsa, who is or was the admin of the forum, 150% of the mycents that are earned by a post that gets deleted are deducted from the total amount of the mycents account. A post that gets deleted because the post is considered spam because the post contains nonsense links and referal links results in a deduction of 150% of the amount of mycents that was earned by that post. When a post gets deleted because the post is a response in a thread of which the start post is considered to be spam the same reduction applies. Here is the content of the post of Admin vujsa. This won't cost you anything in credits when deleted because quoted material is ignored by the credit script! Pointing this stuff out to staff and other members will greatly reduce the amount of spam that we have here. As a result, we will be better enabled to provide you with the assistance you need when you need it instead of trying to sort through all of the junk! One additional thought, if you think that there is a possibility that an article has been plagiarized, don't reply to it. Again, these topic or posts will be deleted and your post may go with it! Thank you for your cooperations in this matter. vujsa --------------------
  4. Instructions part 8 Explanation of the way this topic is set up. It is much more fun to add to this topic a small piece of information each time the occasion rises in stead of writing a long list of instructions on a word process program and to post this document all at once when the writing of the instructions is finished.
  5. Instructions part 7 The first post contains essentially all information that is needed to set up a chan. The other parts of the instructions are explanations of the steps in the first post. The explanations are ment to make it easier for somebody to set up a chan and to run the program to set up a chan. Some of the settings in the config.php file need to be adjusted. This is essential for the information of the database. The information in the config.php is probably clear for a lot of people. Some people may find it useful to have some instructions and some explanation available. Since the first post contains most of the information in very short instructions the first post can be seen like the instructions list. What can be added to the instructions list is to get a bunch of empty pieces of paper and a pencil and a pen. The information provided to set up the email accounts and the webhost accounts can be writtern down on the pieces of paper. This makes it more easy to control the accounts later on. The issue of keeping this information safe without letting others see the paswords and the account names is obvious.

    Mycents Update

It is not obvious when the myCENTS update. The amount of myCENTS is getting a bit high. The myCENTS are not added to the xistodollar account since several days. This has happened to other people before too. It seems necessary to avoid difficulties like comments, that the amount of myCENTS is too high to update and that such a high amount of myCENTS looks like earned by spamming. This seems to make it important to take action in stead of just wait till the myCENTS get updated by the system.
  7. This is post number 200.This post with number 200 is dedicated to:1. yordan. It seems yordan is the moderator who keeps this forum clean from spam. Yordan seems to be the person who helps out new members of the forum.2. All members who respond to posts. They keep the topics alive. Their responds make it easier to post.3. Everybody else.Their visit in here makes it useful for the owners of the website to keep the forum online.
  8. The remark about the usb-stick is useful. The same can be said about a hard disk. Some people use an internal hard disk that is placed in the same computer that houses the hard disk with the information. This is risky. The risks, that the second hard disk breaks are very high. The information on the second hard disk can easily get lost when the computer is used. When some actions are taken it is easy to erase the information on the second hard disk. Saving a file on a second hard disk on a computer, that contains the original file, can not be considered to be a backup. This can be called a copy of the original information. The place where the backup is saved makes the copy of the file a backup. The same regards to a usb-stick. When the usb-stick is used for regular use the risks that the digital information gets lost are too big to be able to call the copy of the file a backup. The usb-stick can get lost, can drop out of the pocket of somebody and the usb-stick can uninentionally be left behind in a place. The information on the usb-stick can be overwritten unintentionally. A usb-stick that is used for a backup should be used for the storage of the backup only. The backup usb-stick should not be used for regular tasks in order to minimize the risks of loosing the backup. The same applies for other backup media. For instance an external hard disk with a back up should not be attached to the computer. The risk to overwrite the backup unintentionally is too high. A backup on an external hard disk that is connected to the computer with the original file can be called a copy of the information too. And a copy of a file is not the same like a backup.
  9. An internet storage solution can be seen like one of the useful additional ways of a backup. The problem, that the backup that is kept on a different remote location is out of date does not apply for important information that doesn't change. Examples of information that somebody likes to keep safe are tax documents, holiday pictures, youth pictures, sent letters, written documents like a book somebody is writing. It is not important that this information is updated regular. The reason is that this information doesn't change much and maybe not at all. Like a form that is filled in to send in the information about the income to the tax office is sent one time a year. This form doesn't change afterwards. The same applies for letters that are sent. It can be handy to archive the letters that are sent. Those letters don't change anymore. One solution that somebody uses is to store the backup on an external hard disk. Once every week or every two weeks this person visits the parents the external disk is placed at the house of the parents. A second external hard disk that has a backup and that was at the house of the parents is taken back home. In this case the backup information is always at the most two weeks old. More recent changes and files can be stored online in the mean time like as an attachment of an email message that is sent to the same email address or to another email address this person owns. The amount of efforts and money somebody likes to spend to the backup options depend of the importance and the value of the information to this person. The most important part is to make backups very regular and very often. Once information and a file are lost it shows how important an updated backup is. Forums about computer issues are still filled with questions about how to retrieve data from a crashed hard disk. The use of data retrieval programs show that people still loose data from hard disks that refuse to operate. There are still people who are surprised that their equipment stops working. And the loss of data is felt more painful once the information is lost without a useful backup.
  10. Backup Sometimes a hard disk breaks. The hard disk doesn't start anymore. This happens a lot with an ssd. When a hard disk doesn't operate anymore the data, files and information stored on the hard disk can be lost. An option to make a little bit sure the information keeps available it is to make a backup of the hard disk. A backup is a copie of the files. The amount of work put into making and storing backups depends of the value of the information. Pictures of a holiday and of the childhood can't be taken again. People often regret the loss of pictures. A backup gives more opportunities to save information like pictures. The best way to handle a back up is to make several copies of the information in several ways on several media and to store these media holders in several places far from eachother. Several ways are like making a digital copy of information. Another way is to print the information and to store the prints. The same can be applied to pictures. A picture can be stored in a digital form. It is possible to print the picture and to store the printed version on paper too. Some media that can be used are an external hard disk, a cd, a dvd and a usb-stick. Online storage space is another option to save information. The several media need to be kept on geographical locations that are far from another. When the media are kept in the same house the information can get lost by a fire or by burglars and thieves. When the information is kept in several houses in the same city the information can get lost by an earthquake, a hurricane or a water flood. When the information is kept on different media on locations far from eachother the chances that both locations get struck by a nature disaster are relative small. A complete 100% full guarantee that information never gets lost is almost impossible. On the other hand can a simple action like making a backup each day and keeping the backup copies safe on several media on several locations far from eachother help to recover the information in the case of the loss of information.
  11. This is a useful contribution to this topic. It is possible that a post get deleted while the topic stays in the forum. The content of the post can be considered to be not useful to the forum. There can be several reasons for this judgement. The content can be in a language other than English. The post can be considered to be spam. The post can consider advertisement. There are lots of reasons. And copying and pasting content without telling it can make a post deletable too. There have been people with a negative balance of the myCENTS account. This means that more myCENTS were taken from the account than were earned. An account can become negative. This might happen when the myCENTS that would be earned by a post that is deleted are reducted because of the deletion before the myCENTS of the deleted post are added to the account.
  12. This statement is not clear. This remark can use some clarification, please.
  13. The amount of myCENTS earned by a post can change. It is possible to get an average of around $ 0.30 for a post. This happens when the post is on topic, offers a reasonable amount of information and when the post has a sort of lenght. Like a lenght of 1/4 of a computer screen offers probably $ 0.05 to $ 0.10. A lenght of 1/2 of a computer monitor offers probably $ 0.10 to $ 0.15. A post with a lenght of 3/4 of a computer screen offers probably $ 0.30.It is possible that a post results in a negative amount of myCENTS too. When the post is put in a topic that is considered to be spam and when the topic gets deleted it is possible that an amount of myCENTS get distracted from the myCENTS amount. This can happen with a topic start that is considered to be useless, nonsense, spam, advertising and otherwise unappreciated.Roughly it seems the earnings of a post can result from negative - $ 0.30 to positive + $ 0.30.When somebody takes care not to post in a thread that looks like containing a spam start post and when a user of the forum doesn't post spam the possibility that an amount of myCENTS gets deducted from the credits account are very small. The option exists. This means that with the idea to give useful information based on the goal to give within limitations and as reasonable as possible complete information about this topic it seems suitable to inform about this possibility too.
  14. There are rumours that the search websites like Google don't expose a website with a free domain name. When this is true and if the rank of a website and wether a website appears high in the search results depends of the links that point to the website and of the amount of visitors to a website it is possible that a website with a free domain name won't be shown by Google and if Google would show it the website would probably not turn up on the first results page of Google. The reason would be that a free domain name is longer and unknown compared to a always used website name extension. .Com seems to be still the most used extension. This extension is the most know as well.A lot of issues and problems appear that don't exists or show up less with paid domain name extensions. The reliability and the down time and the reachability are probably not as good compared to domain names with paid registrar name extentions. Some people on the internet say that a free domain name can be used for short projects, like for school. A free domain name can be used for experimental reasons too.It is possible to use a free domain name to see how a website works and if it is going to be succesful. A free domain name can be used at the start of a website to see if people will visit the website. This means that the starter of the website doesn't need to pay for the domain name. The website owner doesn't loose money when the website turns out to be unsuccesful. And when the website master decides to take the website off line there no money is lost. The disadvantages are huge though. When the website turns out to be a relative succes and when the website is visited by a reasonable amount of people or when the visitors are very much appreciated by the website owner apart from the number of visitors the name of the website gets know a little bit. When the website owner decides to change to a paid name in order to look more professional and to get a more reliable domain name service and to be more easily found and to get known by search websites some problems arise. It is most likely that the website needs to be rebuilt again with the new paid domain name. The people who visited the website with the free domain name have to be told the new domain name. And the visitors have to switch from using the old free domain name to the new domain name with the .com or otherwise used extension. This can be a problem. People might get frustrated and disappointed by the changes that are made with the name of the website. The good rechievement the website got in the start can be ruined in a little way.The advantage is that the webmaster has a better idea about the amount of visitors the website attracts. The website owner can have like an idea about the appreciation of the website. This means the website builder can make a judgement to see if the money that needs to be paid for a well known domain name with a commercial extension is worth the advantages. It is possible that a free domain name is only useful in very rare occasions.
  15. Free domain names Some websites offer a free domain name. Examples are co.cc and cu.cc. There are more options. There are different opinions about a free domain name. First of all is the advantage that the domain name is free. This makes it easy to get one. No dollar is spent in getting a free domain name. Some disadvantages are: The free domain name looks cheap. Some people think, that a free domain name doesn't look professional. Some virus and malware detecting and website inspection programs offer a message, that the website with a free domain name is infected. The reason is probably, that other people use websites with a free domain name to spread infections, viruses and malware. And the detecting program doesn't see a difference between a website without this kind of malware programs and a thrustful website. The malware detecting program recognizes the same extension and that might be the reason for the detecting program to offer a warning to the browser of an internet surfer.
  16. Attention: A reply to this question doesn't give myCENTS.
  17. Is it allowed to post the affiliate link of Xisto - Support in the forum? Earning myCENTS myCENTS can be earned by posting nice messages in the forum. There are more ways to get xistodollars in the account. And it seems possible to pay purchases in the Xisto - Support shop by transfering money using for instance a Paypal account. There is another option. Xisto offers the option to earn xistodollars by becoming an affiliate member. The website offers a link when a member applies to become an affiliate. When people use the link to go the billing section and buy a purchase like a webhosting plan and a domain. The application to become an affiliate offers $ 2.-- in the account right away. Xisto claims that the affiliate earns 15% of each payment and purchase of the customer who visits the website of Xisto using the link of the affiliate. In general it seams that it is not accepted when people post an affiliate link in the forum. The question is if it is allowed to post the affiliate link of Xisto - Support in a forum post. It seems nice to write instructions about the way to get a website and a domain name by posting in the forum and by paying them with myCENTS. And it seems nice to add a link with the affiliate number to the instructions. This leads to the question if it is allowed to post the affiliate link in the forum.
  18. How to post a manual There are several ways to post a manual. The first option mentioned here is the option to write a tutorial. A tutorial can be completed and be posted in the tutorial section. Another option is to write a manual. A manual can be posted in several posts. There are several differences between a complete tutorial and a manual in different posts. A tutorial has to be complete when the tutorial is posted. The idea is that a moderator will read the tutorial. If the moderator approves with the tutorial the tutorial becomes visible in the tutorial section of the forum. An disadvantage is that the tutorial has to be completed when posted. And it is not possible to edit the tutorial, because the tutorial is not visible when sent in. The danger of posting a complete tutorial is that the impression can rise that the tutorial is copied and pasted from the internet. It is very unlikely that a manual that is written and posted in different posts in one topic is a copy of an article that is taken from the internet. An advantage of posting a manual in different posts in one topic is that the writer of the manual can get responds and feedback from other members of the forum. Steps and information in the manual that are not clear which the writer becomes aware of because of the reactions and the questions of other members can be explained in other posts. For these and other reasons it seems to have some advantages to write and post a manual in several posts in one topic in stead of writing a complete tutorial. Writing and sending in a complete tutorial seems like dropping a lecture or a paper. This is not the same like posting in a forum, getting reactions of other members and communicate and interact about the content of the posts.
  19. The purchase of computer components Computer shops in the same town where the builder lives have the advantage that the builder doesn't need to pay shipping costs. Some parts are more cheap in online shops. And other parts are cheaper in window shops. The cheapest are most of the time special offers with discounts. So it is helpful to look for information about special prices offered by computer shops nearby. Descriptions to news letters of online shops helps to get information about special offers of online shops.
  20. The main reason to build a computer is the choice of components. The computer builder can chose the components the builder wants in the computer. With a ready built computer from a shop there is not much choice. The advantage is that the builder can choose the specifations of each part of the computer. The builder is not limited by the computer the shops and the computer brands offer. This information is given with the idea to keep things as simple as possible. So the options of an Intel processor are not explained. And the option of a graphical card is not discussed either. The use of the onboard graphical unit is simple. The speed of the internet connection and the graphical unit and the graphical card don't seem to have anything to do with eachother, though.
  21. It is handy to put the link to the website in the start post. When something of the internet is described it helps to find it when a link is posted.manuleka put the link to the website in the post. This seems like an interesting initiative. It seems, that a search request on google doesn't search the web. The database of google is searched for the term, that correspond with the filled in word. It seems it took google a long time to gather information about a lot of websites on the web. It will be interesting to know the process behind duckduckgo.
  22. Correction. The idea is to use one of the email accounts made in step 1, described in part 3. *fixt
  23. Manual. Part 6. A free domain name. 1. Registrar There are several websites that offer a free domain name. A free domain name has several advantages. 1. The free domain name can hide the name of the webhost. That makes it harder for a hacker to find the webhost. 2. The domain name can be shorter compared to a subdomain name. This makes it more easy for people to remember the domain name. 3. The domain name is for free. 4. The domain registrar is a different website than the webhost. When the webhost account gets hacked it is easy to set up a new chan with the same name. Some options for a free domain name registrar are: http://www.co.cc/ http://www.nic.cz.cc/ http://www.dot.tk/en/index.html?lang=en The idea is to use one of the email accounts made in step 3. The register process of the registrar asks for an email account. http://www.co.cc/ offers two free domain names. http://www.dot.tk/en/index.html?lang=en needs 25 unique visitors during 90 days to keep the domain name working. This means that the website doesn't stay online when the amount of visitors is too low. Another option to get a domain name without paying any money is to obtain a domain name using the credits, myCENTS and xistodollars earned by posting in this forum of http://forums.xisto.com/.
  24. Instructions part 5. Emails 1. Safety This instruction contains the advice to use five email accounts for the chan. There are several reasons for this advice. First of all it is free and easy to make a new email account. So the costs are no issue. Safety is the main reason to make and use several email accounts. The email accounts are used for different purposes. 1. 1 email account is used for the back up of the email accounts for the registration. 2. 1 email account is used for the registration of the free domain name. 3. 1 email account is used for the registration of the free website from a free website host. 4. 1 email account is used for the back up of the contact email account. 5. 1 email account is used to give the users of the chan the opportunity to contact the owner of the chan. Those email accounts are all seperated and different. The reason is safety. If one email account get hacked the other accounts can still be safe. This means it can be easy to get the chan running again. It is advised to keep the names of the email accounts secret. And it is advised to use one email account just for one registration. The email account name of the contact email is the only email name that is published. When the other four email accounts are not used for anything else and just for the registration of the free domain name with the domain name registratar and for the registration of the free website at the site of the free domain host almost nobody will be able to find the name of the email account. This will make it harder to hack the account or to find the pass words of the accounts. There are two different email accounts used to back up the registration email accounts and the user contact email account. When the email account to contact the users is hacked the information of the other back up account of the registration email accounts can still be safe and can keep available. When this happens the name of the back up email account of the registration email accounts keeps invisible and unknown to the hacker. 2. Control The registrar of the free domain name and the webhost of the free website send the control information of the account of the free domain name and the website to the email account, that is used to register and obtain the domain name and the website. Several different email accounts are used to prevent that the email accounts get hacked. When the emails get hacked the control of the website gets lost. To prevent that the email accounts get hacked it is advised to use seperate email accounts for each part of the registration. The advice is to use one email account just and only for one registration and for nothing else. When the email account is not used for emailing and the name of the account is not told to anybody else the possibility that the email account get hacked is minimized.
  25. Instructions part 4. Explanation Thank you very much for the responses. The opinions and reactions are very helpful. 1. The pictures The pictures are ment to give a sort of an idea how a chan looks like, since a chan is an image board. An image board is a sort of list of messages accomplied with pictures. It looks in a way like a sort of a forum. People can post messages on the chan. The messages can include a picture. New chans offer the option to embed a video of Youtube. In most cases the pictures add information to the post. The first picture is a view of the cockpit of a airplane fighter. This picture is supposed to mean that the buttons to control a chan look like the cockpit to control an airplane fighter. The other pictures are supposed to express the sort of feeling the construction and running a chan can offer. It has to be admitted that the pictures in a chan are thumbnails that can be opened in a seperate webpage to enlarge to the original size of the picture. The pictures are put in the posts to make the topic look colourful. 2. Anonymous The users of a chan can post in an anonymous way. This is a difference with a forum. For a forum a user has to register and to provide an email address. A user can post in a chan without giving out much information. 3. Several parts The instructions are put in several parts. The main reason to provide the information in different posts is that it asks too much typing to type the complete list of activities in one post. The post would be huge. The post would contain several pages when the complete finished description of the activities would be put into one start post. Another reason is that the all information is not written out yet. A word program is needed to compose the complete instructions. The post window of a forum is not as convenient as a text program to write a big and long compartment of text and words and instructions and explanations. 4. Explanation of the picture The picture shows an anime figure. It seems the first chans started as an image board for anime art. It seems that in Japan an anime image board is one of the websites with a lot of traffic. This time a small picture is used.
