  1. Here are somme kool noob tricks you can do on windows Xp and maybe other verions. Havent tried on others yet. You do these AT YOUR OWN RISK. I TAKE NO RESPONSIBLITY FOR WHAT YOU DO WITH THESE. The Ultimate Appearance Tweak (#21) Microsoft said: "You can connect up to 10 monitors to your Windows XP-based computer and display numerous programs or windows at one time. You can use your mouse to move items from one monitor to another. You can open a different file on each monitor. Or several. Or you can stretch one item across several monitors; so for example, you can see more columns in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, or the entire layout of a Web page, without scrolling." Consider it. Monitors and PCI video cards are pretty cheap now. Windows recognizes the addition & allows easy adjustments on the 'Display Properties/Settings' menu. Save Streaming Media (#22) It's cool to listen to MP3s (or watch movies) over the Internet. Often, saving this media, however, seems impossible. Hey, if it plays on your computer, it's on your hard drive. Once the file is fully loaded and with folder view set to show hidden and systems folders, searches for the media (.mp3 or .mpg). There it is! Securing the Paging File (#23) If you're truly concerned about the possibility of your computer falling into the wrong hands, you should be sure that you don't leave any tracks in the paging file. By default, when you shut down your system, the paging file remains intact. People who've access to your computer could conceivably look through the unencrypted paging file to find information they shouldn't have. Assign a Keyboard Shortcut (#24) Click in the Shortcut Key field and press a keyboard combination that you want to use for launching or switching to this program. The shortcut key you assign must consist of one character key (a letter, number, or symbol) plus at least two of the following three keys: Ctrl, Alt, and Shift. (If you press a character key only, Windows automatically adds Ctrl+Alt.) Shortcut keys work only when assigned to a program shortcut on the Start menu, the Programs menu, or the Desktop. The shortcuts you define will not work if it conflicts with a combination used in the program whose window has the focus. So there you go, some kool stuff you can do with windows. There are alot of other ones you can do also that are more advance but i wont get into then right now.
  2. For those of you who dont know all the terms and stuff i took the time to explain them...well some of them... Well there you have it for now. Ill add more later. Hope this helps you all. If you dont understand any just msg me and ill gladly explain then to you.
  3. The biggest pro of linux in my opinion it that is very low cost or free. You can get thousands of dollars of software fo it for free or next to nothing. You can get most of the distros for free online at linuxs site or get them on cd for low cost. Another thing i like about linux it that its very stable and relieable. It doesnt have as many problems with the os and you can leave it on for weeks with out having to reboot alot. Also windows tends to crash alot for stupid reasons or sometimes no reasons where linux can be ran for years with out crashing. This is mostly cause the people developing linux build it as more of a hobby and build it for them self and others other than corperate sale such as microsoft does. A con of linux is there is a lot of duplicate programs. For example if you look at mail programs you can find alot of different ones doing the same job just with a different development approch. Another con is alot of drivers for hard ware are not made for linux. You can have a great deal of problem trying to find certain drivers. Also its hard to find support for linux for new users and people that dont know whats wrong. Other then that though i find linux a good os to use. hope that helps.
  4. I hate the Service pack so far. Ive tried multipul times and still cant get this one to work. I install it and the sound drivers still mess up. Does anyone know if there is a solution to this or how to fix it? The beta worked fine for me but i cant figure out whats wrong with this one.
  5. Wow i hate my pc on this one. I took all the time to install it and had to reboot alot and then when i finally got it done everything except my sound worked. I hope they fix what ever cause my sound drivers to stop working cause it was kinda anoying. The beta i tested worked fine but then when i tried to use this one that happened and i had to uninstall it and now i gota put the beta one back on. Another hour or so late.....lol
  6. Thanks for the info man. This is very good for people who dont know how to program proxys and easy to remake which is good because these one are probably easy for admins to find out about. Thats awesome though that you posted this.
  7. the proxys in my school are also blocked but i found that sometimes depending on the security the school uses you can bypass the proxy block by using secure connection. This is done by using https:// instead or http://. A good proxy this works with is poorlight. Dont know if i can post a link here but just google it and you will find it as the first one. Then put http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/.......... and it might work. You might have to play around and try it with multipul proxys to find out which one you can do it with in your school. And if you ever find a proxy that works with out any of this use a secure connection anyways because if you dont it is easy for the school or teachers to find out and block it. Trust me thats what happened in my school. Another tip is not to tell people the proxy and what ever you do DONT tell them about the secure connection because even if they look over your shoulder or something and find out the proxy site they probably wont think or know to check if its secure connection or not. Hope that helps you.
  8. i wouldnt waste your time trying to hack it. Not saying it cant be done just its really really hard now a days. Its not like the good old days were you could brute force it. There servers have high security. good luck though.
  9. Its been released for beta along time ago. I tested the alpha of it and wasnt that good and the beta wasn't anything special. Im gona go try the released version now. Maybe it includes IE8 (which im currently beta testing) with fixes to the problems.
  10. In my opinion psp is worth buying because it has some awesome games and the online play is good. It is also modable at low cost. Basically all you need is a usb cord and a memory stick that doesn't cost much. DS on the other hand need special readers and other stuff which the costs can get expencive. If anyone needs help at moding PSP or DS you can msg me on here. PSP also has some really cool features especial in europe with the Go!messenger by sony which is a really nice messenger for the PSP by sony. If you have the PSP camera you cant use messenger web cam too with it. Even though it is currently available only in Europe there are ways around this. DO THESE AT YOUR OWN RISK. I AM NOT RESPONCIBLE FOR THE DAMAGE YOU MAY CAUSE MODING YOUR PSP OR THE POSSIBLE LEGAL ACTION FROM ANY COMPANY INCLUDING SONY. Just have to make that clear after last time stuff happen between Sony and Me. Hope that helps
  11. SOCOM is a series of popular third-person shooter video games created by Zipper Interactive. The games focus on various teams of United States Navy SEALs completing missions with occasional help from other special operations forces from around the world such as the SAS,SBS, and GROM. Socom was first introducted in 2002. SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs was the first game of the series classified as a tactical third-person shooter developed by Zipper Interactive and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. The first Socom was made only for the PlayStation 2. SOCOM I was released on August 27, 2002, and is one of the earliest online titles available for the PS2. In addition to the 12 offline single player missions, SOCOM also features online play via the internet at no additional charge to the customer. SOCOM additionally uses a USB headset for its speech recoginition commands offline, and allows voice chat with teammates when playing online. It was the first game for the PS2 to use the headset. SOCOM II U.S. Navy SEALs, the sequel to SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs was also developed by Zipper Interactive in collaboration with the Naval Special Warfare Command and published by Sony Computer Entertainment on November 4, 2003. SOCOM 3 U.S. Navy SEALs is the third sequel for previous SOCOM games. The game was developed by Zipper Interactive and was released on October 11, 2005. It was later added to the list of Sony Greatest Hits games on August 4, 2006. SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs Combined Assault was released November 7, 2006 and was the last game of the series for the PlayStation 2 gaming console. Combined Assault features an entirely new campaign, new vehicles, weapons, multiplayer maps and much more. Combined Assault's campaign mode is completely new and offers 18 missions. Rather than spanning multiple countries like past games in the series, the game takes place in a the fictional country of Adjikistan. The country is supposedly situated somewhere in the Afghanistan/Pakistan region of Central Asia and features a number of environment and climate zones, allowing for the game to feature a wide variety of landscapes and settings while working within one large, connected story. After that the next Socom was released on the PS3. It is called SOCOM Confrontation. I couldn't find much info about it but i will post more later. Between all these there were a few Socom games released for the Sony PSP. SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo is the first SOCOM game for the PlayStation Portable. It is one of the Best-selling PSP games next to Grand Theft Auto Vice City Stories. It has both online play (infrastructure mode) and PSP to PSP play (ad-hoc). It is very similar to the Socom games released for the Playstation 2. This game is also a follow up to SOCOM 3 U.S. Navy SEALs for the PS2. Later, SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 2 was released as the the sequel to SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo. The game was released in North America on November 7, 2006. Fireteam Bravo 2 features an entirely new campaign, multiplayer maps, and new features such as Command Equity and Local Influence (see below). Fireteam Bravo 2's campaign mode offers 14 story missions, a variety of partners including LONESTAR, and two partners named BRONCO and WRAITH from SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs Mobile Recon which was only available for cell phones, and an innumerable number of dynamically generated instant action missions. Rather than spanning multiple countries like past games in the series, the game takes place solely in the fictional country of Adjikistan. The country is supposedly situated somewhere in the Afghanistan/Pakistan region of Central Asia and features a number of environment and climate zones, allowing for the game to feature a wide variety of landscapes and settings while working within one large, connected story. This game is also involved with the PlayStation 2 game SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs Combined Assault. The most recent game for the PSP is SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs Tactical Strike, which is the third hand held game in the SOCOM series. In Tactical Strike you are in command of four combatants. Unlike previous games in the series, SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs Tactical Strike and SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation is developed by Slant Six Games instead of Zipper Interactive. There official site is Slant Six Games
  12. It is most likely the Ram or a problem with the motherboard. Try some new ram (doesn't have to be brand new) if this doesn't work try the same ram but switch around all the slots. I know it sounds stupid but it works, its the way my IT friend has fixed computers. Certain motherboards require a certain amount of ram. Its very few but they are out there that why change around the ram. If that doesn't work try swapping the video card with a different one. If it still doesn't work then you could try swaping the CPU. Do this at your own risk because if you put it in the wrong way and force it slightly you bend or break the pins. If that doesn't work it is probably a motherboard problem. There might be something shorting out theat is connected so first try to disconnect non essencial parts such as cd drives and stuff and try to boot it. If it still doesn't boot try testing you power supply on another computer. If that seems to be working fine it is probably a problem on the motherboard and possible a more critical one to do with other parts. You will have to get it checked by a comp. tech. Hope some of this works and helps.
  13. I currently perfere McAfee because i find the version i have dosen't ever cause any lagging. AVG is good but i find it causes lagg when starting you computer if you have alll the features on including the spyware scan. I find Norton is garbage now and is a hazzel to install. NOD32 is pretty good along with Kasperspy. I got advised by a CompITA A+ Certified friend and he said "McAfee is decent but I would perfere using NOD32 or Kasperspy." Hope this helps.
  14. Thats a yes and no because google has it set up so they are all synced and depend on each other if that makes any sence. The systems are made so if error does occur you just have to turn them off and back on. They made it that easy with there own software. But you are right there has to be alot of administration for that. Its still amazing though at how with those servers it doesnt lagg. I expected google to have like quad or 8core servers or something but they dont.
  15. I agree with what you guys or girls are saying. Limewire is both legal and illegal. Its all up to how you use it. There is oviously illegal music, vids, files ect... everywhere but its all up to whether or not you choose to use or download them. Its like how here in Canada you can get on a bus from the back doors and they wont say anything. They will even let you by opening the doors for you but getting on without paying is illegal. So its solely up to you whether or not you pay for your music. I personally think you should because i know it sucks having to pay and i hate it to but by paying that few dollars a month or whatever currency you use you keep music alive. I know as an artist that its hard to pay for everything when people don't support you. There is alot people downloading don't concider. I have to pay for my software licences and the equipment and other expences to make the music i make. Hope that helps.
  16. I used AVG before and had the Pro edition (i forget the exact type) and found it tended to lagg my pc on startup. I currently use McAfee which i know isn't the best but it dosen't seem to slow my pc so its ok. NOD32 is pretty good. Hope that helped.
  17. Do you ever wonder about what kind of servers google uses? Or why even though with all those searches per second (over 1000 times every second) they dont lagg? I was thinking about it and Google must have some monster servers like Xisto does. After some research i found this: Google's server infrastructure is divided in several types, each for a different purpose. Google DNS Servers answer the DNS requests and serve as intelligent, worldwide load-balancers. They guess the data center nearest to the user to speed up all HTTP requests. Google Web Servers coordinate the execution of queries sent by users, then format the result into an HTML page. The execution consists of sending queries to index servers, merging the results, computing their rank, retrieving a summary for each hit (using the document server), asking for suggestions from the spelling servers, and finally getting a list of advertisements from the ad server. Data-gathering servers are permanently dedicated to spidering the Web. They update the index and document databases and apply Google's algorithms to assign ranks to pages. Index servers each contain a set of index shards. They return a list of document IDs ("docid"), such that documents corresponding to a certain docid contain the query word. These servers need less disk space, but suffer the greatest CPU workload. Document servers store documents. Each document is stored on dozens of document servers. When performing a search, a document server returns a summary for the document based on query words. They can also fetch the complete document when asked. These servers need more disk space. Ad servers manage advertisements offered by services like AdWords and AdSense. And finally spelling servers make suggestions about the spelling of queries. The servers are commodity-class x86 PCs running customized versions of Linux. They run there own server software called Google Web Server. The goal in this is to purchase CPU generations that offer the best performance per unit of power instead of absolute performance because the power use for over 450,000 servers is over 20 megawatts which can cost over $2 million US per month in electricity to run. Now thats a huge electricity bill. My parrents would kill me for that. I also found some of the specs of the servers which actually surprise me. As of 2005 info the most commonly used servers are only 533 MHz Intel Celeron to a dual 1.4 GHz Intel Pentium III. Since then they most likely have been upgraded. Also 2003/2004 info says that they have one or more 80GB hard disks per server and 2–4 GB of RAM for each server. The location of where Google keeps these servers is not known currently. There is apparently though a project being worked on in the town of The Dalles, Oregon, on the Columbia River. The project code name is "Project 02" and is to build a supercomputer that will be expected to add to their current global network capable of processing billions of search queries per day and a growing repertoire of other services. The data centres new complex is said to be about the size of two football fields with four stories high cooling towers. Hope this helped all those of you wondering about google servers and you can msg me if you have more questions.
  18. Ive goten an error on google before saying that: We're sorry...... but your query looks similar to automated requests from a computer virus or spyware application. To protect our users, we can't process your request right now. We'll restore your access as quickly as possible, so try again soon. In the meantime, if you suspect that your computer or network has been infected, you might want to run a virus checker or spyware remover to make sure that your systems are free of viruses and other spurious software. If you're continually receiving this error, you may be able to resolve the problem by deleting your Google cookie and revisiting Google. For browser-specific instructions, please consult your browser's online support center. We apologize for the inconvenience, and hope we'll see you again on GoogleI was wondering why it did this at first because I dont have any viruses or spyware, but i later found out that certain key words will do this kind of error. There is a way to view this page without getting the keywords but I dont know if I'm allowed to post a link of it, sorry.
