  1. good question!, I've spend one week researching some absolutely free web hosting. Then I've decided for Awardspace(Apache,PHP, MySQL) and X10hosting(email forwarding), this solution thanks to freedns.com. My site now is "alive", that's important while i'm still so busy! Blessings!
  2. I was trying to say: My site was never as fast and reliable than in Xisto. There is not another free hosting like Xisto, because this is professional. Unfortunately, I'm so busy, and will be this way for some months more. But I don't want to stop posting at Xisto. Sorry for any confusion. Blessings!
  3. Hi guys!!, your web hosting service really rocks, my site was never fast and reliable. But I have not enough free time to submit posts and win credits to get my site hosted continuously. I really thank you for your great service.Blessings!!!
  4. This have some political aspects to me. This way your access is restricted for very good reason. But think a moment in the future, when your RFID chip will be mark of your identity. Of course, there is a lot of pretty technology made to make our life better, easier, simpler... right??. Just ask your parents how simple was the life 20 years ago. And look at your sons, how complicated and far are their lifes. Now the Apple begins to smell very bad, meaning that the worm is very closer. Please don't sell your life for any iPhone/iTunes Blessings!
  5. He is talking about some news. 2 weeks ago I've listened similar news in the radio. In my opinion, there are more than 500,000 people without house after a 8.0(richter) earthquake in PerĂş(and this is not the only country affected by catastrophes this year). I don't know how "rich people" may spend money on laptops made with gold and diamonds!!! they have to look the pain of people, they are hungry. There some very good and powerful machines from 1000$u to 2000$u, then they are able to donate the gold and diamonds and buy breath, coats, water and medicines. Blessings!
  6. It started to play my first Debian(1) box(2) 4 years ago, in the school. this is the history. BEFORE LINUX In my first 2 years of my professional career I was in the way of the hell: Loving Win9x. Yes, I came from the DOS to Win98. That's easy to me to remember those days and nights researching the hidden secrets of "the OS", my parents become to hate my habit of "trying to rebuild the wheel", and now I think that I lost many energies with Win9x, coding on Visual Basic or Foxpro. But only God knows why. THE BEGINNING 6 years ago(3), my best teacher, "the old master" teaches a class about operating systems. This very minded man said: "Your life/mind/sense/feelings will change after this class". He talked about Win-sucks, Bill gay, Blue screens, and a large and well know etc(etcetera). And there I'm trying to keep me in the chair, with my feet ready to kick my own teacher... "What are you trying to say, Windows is wonderful, there is nothing like Windows, just take a look at DOS..." was crying my soul. But there is that guy writing 5 rare letters in the board: "L I N U X"(2) by Linuz Torvalds. And now winsucks becomes really sucking. After 30 minutes my mind can't believe that there is an OS with real multitasking, stability, no blue screens, no monthly scandisk/defrag/antivirus(4), free Word Processor, free Spreadsheets, free software at all!!! CONCLUSION I was convicted by experienced people and decided to use Linux because is simply better to me and my needs. CONTEXT REFERENCES (1) Debian woody 2 months before becomes stable. (2) For some reason, I ever choose the hardest way to things. If you found some instructions to install Debian through Internet with 1.44 inches diskettes... YES!!! I've installed Debian that way, only takes 6 hours with 10kpbs. (3) In 2001, Red hat was free, and some folks installed Staroffice(when was free) and MS Office together in Windows!! (4) In 2003, at leats to me, antivirus was the unique word to refer: anti-spyware, anti-malware, anti.... every commercial word to make you feel insecure and preparing your jackets to spend some money in software downloads. Blessings!
  7. Yeah! but this graphics work great to be stored in your mind. Keep attention on how you eyes reaction at the first Look. Anyway, the diagrammatic of DWA looks very good, like a sports mark. Now keep attention on the "D", does not have the same bright effect as "WA", it seems like a composition. Again, this logo does not talk by its self without a context. Blessings!
  8. AVG is very good, and don't forget: it's free. I saw many antivirus like AVG, all they look like Clamav for windows(give this a try), so Clamav is a popular free-antivirus engine, just compare Antivir, AVG and EZ TRUST(old version). JOKES TEACHES "If for some reason you have to use an antivirus..." <-- sounds abnormal??? To use any antivirus is abnormal in the Unix wolrd, because people know what they are doing. You'll be infected if you are not responsible of your actions, because Internet was made by humans and there are very bad people waiting for the next victim for nobody knows what reason. "The open way to the hell..." if you are walking in a dangerous street, with a water gun(any Windows OS ): craking, hacking, porn downloads, astalavista(you know, if not now I understand why you read this), and a large etc. If you want to be secure please go to google and look for wikipedia, ask for "computer", then for "internet security". Now back to google and look for tips on secure browsing, and pray to Micro$oft's death SERIOUSLY If already have to use some antivirus in your transition from newbie to experimented computer user. Then add this to our training list: Look new antivirus, install at least 3, test the best 2 one week, repeat the process the next 2 months OR INSTALL some Linux and harvest the best from your Computer. Blessings!
  9. There is no way for compare Firefox to IE!!, what are thinking on???IE is the hell, simple terrible, looks awful, and follows the Micro$oft way: higher version... more bugs ;)My question is why Bill Gates pay for programmers??? Please Bill, just do the same as SUN: open your code, lest minded people work in the hard things and donate the profits to as many sourceforge projects there are!!!TRYING TO COMPARE:1) Firefox is download... click... click... click... and fun. IE is just a pre-installed app or an update, but then you have to update your antivirus, and after one week you will have to choice: IE 6 or buy a new monster machine with Norton Internet Security(once installed your monster is a mouse).2) Firefox have pretty designs/addons/themes: browse, click... restart. and fun. IE is an open door to holes... what??? yes!!! any action to secure is an way to host more bugs.3) Firefox rulez and IE sucks, if you follow reading then please install FF 2 and look for Linux, Ubuntu is a good start point. The guinean pig(cuy) said....Blessings!
  10. If you want PHP math: echo $row['Column']+5; If you want PHP + MySQL math: $rs = mysql_query("select 5+".5); print_r(mysql_fetch_row($rs)); If you want MYSQL math: Select 5+5 More on MySQL math. Blessings!
  11. amazing!!!I really love "Linux Air", is good to feel yourself like a part of something. I'm feeling like a passenger of "economic class", I've printed my own ticket and downloaded the seat-HOWTO.html to my recycled laptop. Sometimes I have to compile my own coffee and clean the glasses, but everyone in that airplane loves the travel, see the same beautiful sky, and the most important: dream so far of Bill's nightmare.Blessings!
  12. I agree 100%, PDF's are a great source of information, because the nature of "Document", this means invaluable quality. The only drawback is the weight of files, there must be some way to interactively print a sort of any HTML pages to a single PDF... Blessings!
  13. Any effort to promote Open-source is right, needed and blessed!!!Sorry, this time I have to report that http://www.thelinuxvault.net/ have no access from Peru, or is DNS problem, or the good effort is dead :blink:May someone confirm my post???
  14. I don't think!!! so, my problems are 42, my lifetime is 42 years, mi best function programming time is: 42 minuts!!!!Thats really amazing.A JOKE FROM REAL LIFE.... trying to open my gmail account:"Sorry, your account is temporally unavailable. Our expertise google engineers are working to get your account back in some minuts."Questions while waiting: What kind of SPAM came to my inbox, to move the "expertise google engineers" in the "develCuy's Inbox rescue!!!", are they trying to hide some terrible error??, did somebody lost my data??, I'm lost... they discovered I'm the best hacker in the human history(and the worst joke teller). After some minuts: Oh my God, everything is OK!!!, my google account works fine. I have to trash my demand and submit my CV :blink:Blessings!
  15. "I reckon..." Debian(pure) because: - is solid like a rock - is stable - its "3 levels of game": stable, testing, sid - apt is the only think you have to know to start rocking on!!! - if apt isn't enough, play with aptitude - great community - etc, etc Blessings!!
