Yeah, I made a sample page in word and then looked at it in TextPad after it had been "published", full of garbage XML tags that had stuff like all your personal Word licensing information, spelling and grammar check resultso on the doc, your Windows version. I was amazed at how much crap they packed in that would be completely useless for those who don't browse the web using Word

There are literally hundreds, maybe thousands of operating systems, mostly developed as little projects by noobs. Some reasonably big ones not mentioned here (probably because they're not an option), are the GEM based ones, NextStep, BeOS, Amiga. You don't want to know about these, trust me "Not overhere, I haven't seen any computer that came with linux installed (or maybe one or two) in our supermarkets (Carrefour, GB, Aldi, Makro, ...)"Computers are sold in supermarkets? ("Buy one get one free, aisle five!")

You don't need all that crap. Just get a hammer and a hard surface to put the drive on and smash away! You'd be surprised at the quality results

For some reason many people are obsessed with the wheel interface of the ipod. It's the only special thing about it, and it isn't really THAT great. Touch screen is better, usually, and although the wheel is potentially one handed you really have to hold the ipod for it to work. I still don't understand why apple's sales and the MP3 stuff exploded when the iPods came out, are they really THAT great?

Yes it's an extension of the bank switching effect that makes these memories perform better. My dell laptop requires 2 memories in both slots, and they have to be the same size. I can't say it runs particularly fast but I'm not a gamer or anything so I really don't know.

Wouldn't it be cool if someone found a way to replace their entire hard drive with an account on this site. They'll have like an 8gig HD and a high speed internet connection. Not very secure, but still a nice idea

I ran across a site called Fuellesspower.com awhile ago, all a scam. I think this is the same case with this engine, although it would be really great if it were true. At this site you can actually buy plans, but i'm told that they either don't perform nearly up to expectations, require some source of energy input not mentioned, or just don't work. Funny how people get all optimistic though.

Unfortunately, I don't have the URL but yesterday I ran across an article about voting machines that were made to be rigged. Yes, the most popular supplier of those touch-screen voting machines has put a dip-switch inside to switch from the legal "memory A" to the illegal "memory B"! Memory A can pass all the tests and Memory B can make the "right" candidate win on election day. Someone looking them over finally noticed, but you'd think it would be the first thing the people testing them would notice. It makes you wonder how they hire these voting machine inspectors.Anyone read the same thing?

Awesome. Reminds me of when I heard all this stuff about MythTV and how people were using old Xboxes as the "frontends". Some day I will try one of these things out, and I'm the ideal candidate because my family hardly ever uses our Xbox, and we only have like 4 games (crimson skies, clone wars, halo 1, halo 2)

I don't have a problem with 9 planets. They could say there were 36 of them if they wanted (as long as I didn't have to memorize all 36), but I DO have a problem with them not coming to a final conclusion. 4 years ago in science we learned that there were 5 kingdoms of life, then they decided to change that to 3 domains, and 4 kingdoms in the Eukeria one. Now my brother says that they've done away with the domains and they just have 7 kingdoms! How is anyone supposed to learn anything when they're just trying to keep track of all this classification terminology?

I don't see the need for MiniSD. SD is small enough, they should be increasing the capacity more and not making a mini one. It's somewhere around the size of a penny/dime, and you're sure to lose it! CompactFlash are nice because they're big and they can't be bent too easily. Also CF allows for expansions like GPS and even one of those Enfora cards to go into your PDA. The best SD I ever saw was a little digital camera made by Palm to go with their i705 a few years back. Looked like it was about to break off the side of the ting though

Yeah, there are two kinds of people you'll find in chat rooms. People who are really offensive and annoying, or peole who really don't talk about anything. There are exceptions, of course, but this is what i've found. When I join my friends' chats they're all immature and make wierd little jokes that arent funny. For some reason, you're much better off with 1 on 1 messages, which is why I'm very glad Google Talk didn't even try to put chat rooms in.

It's wierd that it's still like that in XP! 9x I can understand because that's just a little shell, but XP was supposed to write all the 16 bit code out, and you think that would take all this wierd device-as-file stuff with it. Cool tip about the //, i've never heard of that before. Somewhere on the web I found a list of secret DOS commands once. Very cool!

I heard somewhere that GoDaddy hosting is really r-e-a-l-l-y slow... Can anyone back up this claim who has used their hosting service? Also you'd think being a registrar they'd have a better domain.

Well the main reason people require so much space today on their hard drives and webspace is that they want to do stuff like share mp3s. Also, people have come to expect higher quality graphics. You just didn't see that in 1998, so that kind of bandwidth was perfectly okay (also for my site it would still be because even when it was up on another host it had no hits)

Yeah, same deal I talked about only a few days ago on the 12 planet thread. Their wasting their time on semantics defining what is a planet, and not finding out anything new!

Well it could be to hide because he's ashamed of the free host :DAnyway i'd advise against this because some browsers don't support frames, and iframes are the least of all. You shouldn't do this unless there's a really good reason.
