Putting the router in the attic would be somewhat inconvenient so we wont go there lol. It's fairly central at the moment, only 4 or so meters from my pc seperated by a wall. Ok, this is what I tried this morning. I grabbed the laptop and linked it over ethernet to the netgear router... then opened my network folders on my pc, seperated by the wall. The speed got up to 30mbit and hovered on 20+, which was great to see. So im thinking the cardbus wireless for the laptop may not be that hot..This is off subject but I initially had the router in the kitchen, where it had view of the street. I walked down the road with the laptop, then around a bend and the wireless was there for ages, it was great. So, 100+ meters of wireless joy.. anyway..

Two PC's, one laptop. The laptop and one pc are most commonly used, I've moved around the house with a pretty good signal quality and latency (1-2ms).I will try what you've said. Thanks

Urgh. Gets me thinking what their customer base is like! Can't be a profitable business at all -
We've setup a 54mbps wireless network, yet, the computers only work at a max speed of 9-11mbps. Is this the usual speed? I know overhead takes some of the bandwidth but seriously..In addition, the router is just on the other side of the wall and I use the laptop by the router too.

Nationwide, we have cdma, wcdma, gsm goverage. I personally like gsm because it seems faster with txt messaging and roaming is as easy as turning on your phone in a country like australia, where Ive used it before. I have both a gsm and a cdma phone. I use my cdma during the week through Telecom (cheap sms plan) and my gsm with Vodafone on the weekend (free sms). Takes up to 10 seconds at times to send messages on the cdma network :s, other people have noticed it too.

Hehe! That website again. Its been so long since I first saw it. Quite a cute idea I thought. Orginal anyway -
Yeah, if you can do that.. maybe even approach that user's ISP and report the hacking. Its always in breach of ISPs terms and conditions to use their account to hack.

Is Your Internet Speed Good Enough Vs. Cost ?
jerms replied to Cookiemonster1405241499's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I have an internet speed of 3.5mbit, does me quite nicely for now, but the data limit is a bit poor. We all blame telecom because they sell the adsl in nz, so ISPs have to pay quite a bit to resell it to customers. Bleh, anyway, its $49.95/month for 5GBpeak data + 10GBoffpeak data. Its ok, i just run downloads during offpeak. -

Ive just joined up with asta after reading about it on a nz pc support forum. It looks almost too good to be true but I guess I have to wait and see. I have two personal websites hosted by my brother, but I choose not to use them for file hosting because of bandwidth usage. How do free things like asta support themselves? Someone has to pay..?
