  1. To users interested in that, there is a topic on this subject, titled "Increase Your Bandwidth by 20%".
  2. Yup... I would agree with Logan Deathbringer. MS Office is not free, so if Microsoft wants to add Adobe products to MS Office, then royalties should be paid to Adobe.
  3. Hehe... I'm one of the member who experienced this just sometime back....At first, I checked all the posts that I have written. I looked for all my posts in the last post column. None was edited or deleted away. So, hmm... something must be wrong. And then I realized that one of the topic that I replied to was deleted away. It is not just my reply but the whole topic was junked becoz the first post is kinda spam(I replied to the second post.... ) The junked topic was nowhere to be found. The thing here is I have written a few posts before and it was kinda hard to remember how many posts I have written. Of course, what happened to me and isMobham might be entirely different. Just wanna share my experience.
  4. Well, the terrorists can always move out like the rest of the residents???
  5. Yup... definitely blown out of proportion. I'm not sure whether we are in the same countries but I don't think talking on the handphone in the bus, subway or train is not permissible. And if a bunch of people were to be talking at the same time, it can be kinda noisy. But I guess it won't be that big a deal yet. After all, phones are already available on planes. I have seen some of them on my flights but have never used them. Guess the charges are high. And I am pretty sure the charges for internet access would be high too at first. If someone were to suggest banning internet access for gamers becoz it might get out of control, maybe they should suggest banning alcohol first. Incidents of passengers getting drunk and rowdy is not unheard of.
  6. I guess the more important question is, what do you want to do? If you want to be a Windows security specialist, then you must learn C or C++. Don't think PHP is going to help you. If you want to be involved in webpage creation etc. then I don't think C or C++ is going to help you. I think you should determine what is it that you want to do before even thinking of which programming languages you should learn.
  7. Ok, I am not from India, so I don't know much about the certification that you are talking about. But here's my opinion. The first question would be how much time do you have before your exam? The standard time required is actually quite long. You can do a crash course in less than half the standard time. Of course, you can't be aiming for the top 1 percentile, but if you concentrate, you can get pretty good results. From what you describe about yourself, studying for Physics and Chemistry should be ok for you. So, don't despair. Sit down and think about it. Remember, what is the objective. If the objective is just to pass the exam, then make sure every available effort is put into passing the exam. There are tonnes of way to do this, eg. working on past exam questions(if available), guessing which is the hot topic/subarea and concentrate on it. Heck, you might even get good results if you're lucky and your effort is concentrated on the correct topic/subarea. Good luck.
  8. Can someone elaborate on what Irq14=4096 means? Would appreciate it if there is a little bit more explanation on how it achieves the increase in disk speed. Thanks.
  9. Well, I think you kinda answer that yourself when you said that US is the most advanced nation on Earth today. Yes, US have a tough rival back then and still does today. Soviet Union might have disintegrated but Russia still exists. Having a tough rival might give US a motive to fake but it doesn't prove that it is fake. You might argue with someone before he/she is killed but it doesn't might you the killer. It just gives you a motive, that's all. As for the failed rocket mission, failed space shuttle mission, failed mars mission, it only show mistakes. If a Boeing aircraft would to crash, and they do, not just once.. it doesn't mean that Boeing aircraft can't fly or fly around the globe without stopping. It only shows that more quality control has to be instituted on each and every Boeing aircraft that is produced. Personally, I don't see what's wrong with that. If I am the President of China (never could, since I'm not a citizen.. ) I would gladly buy the technology of Stealth bomber when the US decides to sell it to cover their ever increasing debt. There is definitely no reason to spend money to reinvent the wheel. If you are a software programmer, you should definitely understand this point. If there is a free code that you can use, why bother thinking and writing it all by yourself? Yup... I agree with you on that. Most probably, China would never be a US rival. At least not in my lifetime. The gap is just too huge.... Haha... you better remember what you said. If you're still alive 10 years down the road, there is a high chance you would have to eat your words. I am not saying that China would certainly have a successful manned moon mission but it is certainly a target for them. So, we shall wait and see...
  10. Ok, so how come the first one doesn't matter and the second one does? Well, you would have to wait for a couple of decades before science can even attempt to answer it. Of course, if you just want a name/description, I am sure scientists can come out with one overnight.
  11. I'm not really a religious person, so here is my opinion. :(Free will... logic.... science.... facts...etc. are actually not a good fit with theology/religion. Religion gets its power on its hold on people through hope, not hard cold facts. Some people say that the book(referring not just to the Bible, but other religion as well, such as Quran, Old Testament, Tripitaka etc) is the truth but unfortunately, like you have mention above, even their own brethren could not agree with them on a multitude of issues. And this happens not just in Christianity but other religions as well. I think if you were to do a thorough study on this issue of human free will vs God's will, you would find that it has been a question asked long time ago. So, which one do I believe in? I can certainly go out and buy myself some booze right now. It is totally up to me. Some would say there might be a hidden plan, just like your example on the computer program, but my question now is, What is the Plan? What do you think would happen to society if everyone believes he/she has no free will? Gee.. should I slog it out in university.. I could be destined to fail.... Gee.. should I drive my car today... I might die in a road accident...Gee... should they even bother to fix the levees in New Orleans... if hurricanes is destined to hit New Orleans, then it would hit. Otherwise, it would not. Why waste tax payers money?
  12. I have never tried registering at Xisto. But I have registered myself at tonnes of other websites for free stuff or info. Usually, you can just write whatever that you want. Hehe..... Some forms would do a check on whether your address and the telephone number matches, like the international code and area code, so just make sure that it matches. Not that hard to do. The only companies that are really serious about such info are usually companies that deal with finance, money. Some of them would actually call you up to verify the info, so don't mess around with them.
  13. Another conspiracy!! :(Well, as far as I know, quarantine is instituted as a standard prodecure. You never know what is out there anyway. Plus I think they actually brought some moon rock back. Tried a brief google on this subject and found that Neil was quarantine only for 21 days. Anyway, if you have a link or more info about DNA/RNA from the moon, please post it here. I would love to find out more about it.
  14. Hmm... Is this defacing thing common? Or is it just a handful of individuals that have their websites defaced?I have a suggestion. I don't think we can change our username. I'm new here so I could be wrong. When we submit our application, we were ask about our username. I think when we actually sign up using the process form, we need to specify our username. There might be a chance that both of the usernames matches. In fact, there is a high chance if users reply to the application form truthfully. As such, I suggest that approved applications be totally removed from view after maybe, let's say, 2 weeks? Then whoever that tries to use a password generator would have a tough time becoz he/she needs to guess the username as well.
  15. Hehe... not trying to be technical here, so don't go mad at what I'm about to say. If I am not mistaken, virus do not have DNA. Virus have something called RNA. Yup... it would be interesting on what the red rain is all about. Do keep us posted if you know of any new developments. I am very interested in this phenomenon.
  16. I would agree with vicky99. Hackers, crackers etc are definitely not idiots. Of course, I am not exactly talking about amateurs who download free hacking, cracking programs from the internet. Do you guys still remember the teenager that was caught in the Blaster worm thing in US? He altered the Blaster virus into another version and was caught by the authorities. My question is, who created the first Blaster worm?I don't think the notion that crackers can earn mega$$$ if they channel their effort to a good cause is entirely true. If a person is good at penetrating security and stealing credit card information, how is he supposed to earn big bucks in a company? Companies don't just go out and hire security experts without doing a proper background check. Unless of course the cracker has a PhD in computer security from a reputable university. Having said that, I need to reiterate that cybercrimes are still crimes. If anyone is caught stealing credit card information, he/she should be treated like conventional criminals who steal credit cards the conventional way.
  17. Cool... this is very interesting. Did you guys watch War of the Worlds, starring Tom Cruise and directed by Steven Spielberg? The first image that came to me is the scene where the aliens are trying to teraform(i think that is how it sounds) earth by spraying human blood all over. Gross....This phenomenon is actually quite a big thing. There is even a wikipedia entry on it. After doing some reading, I think scientists still could not explain with certainty how such a phenomenon could occur. Do I think it is some kind of alien microbes from a meteor? I don't know. I mean we have not exactly catalogue all the microbes on earth, so it is hard to say. But since it is a localized event, guess it is not an alien invasion after all.
  18. About revealing the contents of a DLL, I would like to know the software that can do that too. So vizskywalker, if you ever found out, can you please post it here? Thanks.
  19. Hi. Do you know of any way to send an e-mail to SMS for free? Btw, my telco does not provide Email to SMS functionality. Or are there other ways to programmatically send an SMS to someone for free?Besides that, I have several questions regarding the SMS technology. 1. There are a lot of free SMS sending websites out there. Do they just rely on the respective telco's Email to SMS functionality? If not, then how can it be free?2. How does an international SMS transfer happens? Example would be someone sending an SMS from US to UK. I know a little about the SMSC and SMS gateway, but does the whole system operates like the internet? Any help would be appreciated. And I am in no rush for answers. So feel free to comment even if the post is old. Thanks.
  20. Thanks for the replies. I think I know what is going on. One of the forum that I replied too must have been junked, even though it is not in the junk section. It is now not listed in the last post or the last topic. And I don't seem to find it. It is one of those only quotation forum by XtraQ8.Ok, I think this topic can be closed now. Thanks again for the replies.
  21. Ok, forgot to add in my original post. I did went to check my posts and none was edited. Well, I'll just wait for it to get to "normal".
  22. Hi. My application for a free web hosting account in Xisto.com has just been recently approved. Hurrah! :DAfter the account set-up process, I notice that the days left is 3. That is correct. Then I started making new posts. After my last post, I remembered that my days left was 13.++. A few hours later, I logged in again and it is 10.++. I am not trying to be picky here. After all, it is a free web hosting account and I'm glad that my application was approved. But has anyone notice something like this or are my tired eyes playing tricks on me?
  23. Haha.... that would definitely be the mother of all conspiracies!!
  24. Haha.... funny.... but you never know whether there is oil there.. :PWell, with our current progress in technology, i think nations can determine with certainty whether a manned mission to mars actually happen. Of course, since I am no astronomer or satelite scientist, I could be terribly wrong. But if Russia, China and other nations would to say that they have proof or something like that, to me that is good enough. Not sure though about the hard core conspiracy believers...Hehe... never underestimate the power of rivalry. I say if NASA did have a manned mars mission without first planning a manned moon mission, then it would lay to rest this conspiracy theory. I don't think the US President or the Congress would just sit there after China has a successful manned moon mission. Come on, can you think of the headlines when China has a manned mars mission first before US?
  25. pyost has a very good point there. I think at the end of the day, it is which search engine that gives you the best results... and maybe connectivity, in this case. I think the earliest primitive search just indexes how many of the keywords(search words that you typed) were in a certain document. If there are more keywords in that document, it should be more relevant than a document with less keywords in it. And it progresses and then came Google with their complex calculations based on page links, instead of just keywords in the document. Somehow, that seems to work better and since then, Google is the search engine No. 1. Personally, I have doubts about the method of aggregating the results from several search engines. Unless all the search engines uses the same algorithms and the only difference between their results is the payment by companies to the top search engines, then it might work. If there is a company with a far superior search technology compared to the rest of the pack, then aggregating the results from several search engines would mean basically adding noise to the final result. A far better approach would be to personally search on 2-3 different search engines. I usually search on Yahoo and Google. Contrary to all the hype on Google, there are still some moments, even though brief, when what I want can be found on Yahoo but not Google.
