  1. - There was no wind but in keeping with Newton's laws of physics the force of the astronauts placing the flag on the moon would have caused a fluttering that lasted longer because of less gravity and no air. - They landed on the light side of the moon with the sun shining down upon them. You tell me, can you see stars during the day? - Of course the sand doesn't look real! It was in black and white, nothing looks real! Hubble is too far away from the Moon and not powerful enough to see small objects like those left on the moon landing, and the only telescope capable of seeing the moon that close hasn't been launched yet and will orbit arounf the moon. Then we will see if the moon landing was faked or not! There is actually water on the Moon, on the sideof a crater in the south polar caps, similair to the water ice on Mars. I beleive the Moon landing was real because the American government wouldn't spend that much money on something fake! At least I don't think they would. And if Hollywood can't reproduce the movements they made on the Moon now how could they back in 1969? It is funny, though, that after the Apollo 11 launch the vice-President at the time said they would have a man on Mars by 1980! We all know that didn't happen.
  2. I don't spend enough time on the net!I will usually spend 3 hours a day browsing and downloading but I always have to get of because Mum and/or Dad are always saying "are you on the internet?". If you haven't figured, I have dialup , but not for much longer we are finally getting broadband (Not money problems or anything, it's not available where I live) and I will always be on the computer browsing the net and doing something!I would spend much longer on it now, but it is slow and I always have to disconnect anyway.
  3. Arbitrary, I am using something like that for my page but it only works in Mozilla Firefox (as far as I can tell anyway, it's the only browser I use and I checked it out in IE but [surprise!] it doesn't work).I find it much faster and neater than tablesa and it's easier to work with because you know what DIV does what. Would you be able to use a SPAN for this or not? Just something I might try out later.Arbitrary, you really should have used id's as they are the current standard and much faster to write!
  4. Linux is becoming more and more popular (I myself would use it all the time if I could get the modem to work) and gaming companys have little choice as to stick with Windows or go for Linux too.I haven't really played games on Linux other than what came with Ubuntu. I have tryed to play Theocracy on it but can't get it to work (The library is there but according to the error message it can't be found if anybody would like to help).
  5. I got an idea for a toothpaste that you only have to use once a week or something and it keeps your teeth clearn, white and your breath smelling nice.Basically it is normal toothpaste but with nanobots that latch on to your tooth enamel, gums, tongue and cheeks and break-down bacteria for nic breath. It will also remove food (No more "What is that stuck between your teeth?") from you teeth and in between teeth in a matter of minutes and excrete as a liquid or maybe something that whitens your teeth.Bad breath will be no more because the nanobots are everywhere in the mouth and are constantly removing harmful bacteria that create bad breath. Lot's of other problems such as cavities and rotten teeth will go away because the nanobots are constantly regenerating teeth from calcium, zinc, protein and whatever else is good for teeth.I don't know the current state of nanotechnology but I don't think something like this is possible just yet. I know I would use it, what about you? Any ideas or dream shattering statements (I don't mind, there is plenty of other things to do in life)?
  6. I have used both products and have never really liked MS Word (Mainly because the cursor disappears when you type, really annoys me) and when I got my laptop I didn't have a copy of MS Office so I spent three days download OOo and I really, really like it.It has some nice features like exporting to a PDF document and it's compatibility with other formats. I also like the way the cursor stays visible when you type. While OOo might not have the large array of borders MS Office does (Has anybody used more than 5 of them, ever? I know I have only used about 2) it does have rounded borders on text boxes and there are lots more formatting features. While it loads a bit slow on my laptop it does come bundled with a PP like program, Spreadsheet program, Database program, Publisher program, something called Math (I don't use it) and of course a Word program. The plain MS Office suite comes just with Word, PP and Excel (Correct me if I'm wrong) and you have to fork out extra for the others while OOo is smaller, comes bundled with them all and, best of all, is free!Open Office has my vote!
  7. I am using Bon Echo Alpha 3 and haven't noticed much difference from Firefox 1.5 except for the following: - A different icon (Looks good, but I prefer the FF 1 icon) - Spell Checker (Nice feature but it's a bit startling when you first see it and didn't realise it existed. - Themes and Extensions combined into Add-Ons (Pretty stupid, I think) - Most of my themes and extensions (Add-Ons) don't work (Real kick in the knickers, but at least 2 of them work! The theme in Win9x is terrible but I can't get around to installing XP!)I like it and it has crashed only once and that was the first time I ran it.Hope you enjoy it like I do.
  8. I think that in Australia GSM will win, at least in the short-term because most of the networks here are running GSM and the major network, Telstra, is removing it's CDMA technology so GSM will dominate here eventually.I use GSM myself, like many people and I believe most of Australia has access to a GSM network, although mine is sometimes non-existent.
  9. 20 years from now....---WHIRL INTO DREAM (Like on TV)--- - Man will have colonies on the moon and the first Martian landing would've taken place. - Mobile phones will work anywhere in the world. - Broadband internet is available everywhere and 100 times faster. - Computers, Mobile phones, Game consoles will be smaller, faster and overall more powerful. - Cars will not be petrol fuelled and will go faster on magnetic strips in roads to prevent accidents. - The world's population will have increased to 8 billion people. - World War III has ended and several countries lay in a radioactive waste. - Laptop computers will be renamed to 'Palmtop' and sit comfortably in your hand. - Movies will be longer and of a lesser quality. - Classic TV Shows like The Simpsons will be repeats on Fox and no new episodes (However much it pains me to say) - Anologue will be gone and a digital world will replace it. Basically if it doesn't have a screen it isn't worth having. - You will be able to watch TV on your MP7 (Yes 7!) Players and built in speakers make ear/head phones optional. - You will press a button to unlock doors and keys will be "So last decade!" - Modern will be so cool and what we think as modern now will be 'old' and 'stale'. - I will be 34!!---WHIRL BACK INTO REAL LIFE---Now that we have had a loook at the future, let's shiver and return to now.
  10. I don't think he will live very long because without building up a reisistance to disease and with little or no social stimulation he would kill himself or be killed. And then you've got you're moral problems so he won't even be in conditions like that long enough to know, they'll release him when he's 13 because of all the protests and then die a year late from flu.
  11. I recently recieved a Ubuntu distro (Breezy Badger, 5.10) and installed it on my laptop, uninstalling Windows in the process as I could not resize the FAT32 partition without erasing all data and I loved it! After several days without the internet as I couldn't get the modem working I decided to reinstall Windows ME on my laptop. I resized the Linux partition and created a FAT32, enough for Windows and any programs, games and documents I would like, ample space really. The partition was created successfully and the Linux partition resized. However, I inserted the Windows ME installation disk and booted the computer. All goes normal and I see the 'Wipe all data' so I continues, not knowing that it would delete all other partitions and create a new one for Windows. So my questions are as follows: - Does anyone know how I can install Windows without it re-partioning the drive? - How can I safely resize a FAT32 partition? I can't find any programs that will do this and I have come to the conclusion that a FAT32 partition cannot be resized safely. - How can I install the driver for a Toshiba Internal Modem on Ubuntu? or, What driver do I use and how do I do it? If I could get an answer to anyone of these questions it would be fantastic and all I need, If I can get an answer for all or two of them I will be over the moon! I would really like to run Ubuntu with Windows or Ubuntu with the internet. Either one will please me. All help is appreciated and the specs for my laptop are as follows: Thanks in advance!
  12. I downloaded Winamp 5.21 less than a week ago because I don't like WMP full stop and Real kept crashing my computer, while I did know of Winamp formany years I liked Real.It is my opinion that Winamp is much better than Windows Media Player because it looks better (I can't stand the look of WMP10) and performs better. Its advantages over Real Player are the same and Winamp doesn't freeze up like Real did.Overall Winamp is a better media player than WMP and Real, but this is my personal opinion and will change from user to user. These are the only 3 media players I have used, and while all are good Winamp is my favourite and in my opinion best.
  13. I downloaded the IE7 Beta and found it a bit 'confusing' at first, especially because the menu toolbar was turned off by default. The theme wasn't that nice in XP and, like I said above, it was also added to the 'confusion'. I am a Firefox fan all the way and have numerous extensions installed that improve my internet experience and do things IE has never thought of. I also think the fact the Firefox is open-source adds to it's popularity because programmers can make their own extensions and themes for Firefox, in the time it takes Microsoft to release one update for IE, Firefox has gone up another .1 in it's version number. I didn't like the fact that IE6 was released and after 3 or 4 major updates they suddenly ended. Does Microsoft think they fixed all the bugs and that no one will find a different way to hack it's browser? I believe that Firefox does have more security holes than IE does, but IE is still very vulnerable because the majority of Internet users are using the browser and hackers have hacked around the security patches in IE because they can attack a wider range of users than hacking Firefox.
  14. I have AoM and it is one of those games I will play for days at a time, forgert about and then crave months later, repeating the cycle once or twice a year.As a fan of the original AoE I found AoM a change from it and very fun and exciting.I haven't yet played AoE3 and hear it is similair to AoM. In the shop I had a choice between it and Civ4 and I took Civ4.
  15. I remember finding an abundance of tutorials on RSS feeds and found a really good one (I can't remember where it was now, though) that showed how to make one that updates from a MySQL database whenever the script is called and outputs it as an rss/xml document. I still have and use that script and if you would like a copy please PM me. I was also going to make an online script that will automatically create an RSS or Podcast feed and must get a move along completing that and other scripts I said I would do.
  16. It is a nice idea but has to many cons. For example: - If you are being held at gunpoint you wouldn't be able to text 'hlp im bein hld at gnpnt' (Help I'm being held at gunpoint) and send the message without him/her realising. - Sometimes (At night I find) there can be a delay of several minutes or even hours before the message will be recieved.Of course if there was a button that automatically sent a preset message it eliminates the first scenario and as for the second one they could be given top priority and directly sent without any delays. Ahhh, the possibilities.
  17. While using throium in nuclear reactors has been around for several decades it is only recently that the energy output of the reactors have reached a capacity suitable fora power plant. This as-eco-friendly-as-it-gets uranium alternative will not will not cause a reaction unless prompted by a laser and has no chance of a meltdown. The plutonioum byproduct created by this element is not weapons grade and will only last for one millennium as opposed to uraniums weapons grade byproduct that floats around for 10 millennum! This miracle worker can also remove any other radioactive waste. With global warming on the rise and global awareness at an all time high governments should be looking for a safe, effective and practical power source that creates little or no pollution and enough energy to power tens of thousands of houses for days. Nuclear is the best answer and while nothing is wrong with the uranium reactors there is that small chance of a meltdown (Remember Chernobyl?), it creates weapons-grade plutonium and the waste will last for many, many generations to come.I got this information from the fantastic Austrailian science magazine, Cosmos!
  18. My battery isn't very good, however I do not have the funds needed to purchase a new one so I discharge the battery, freeze it in a plastic bag overnight, return to room temperature, wipe away any condesation that forms, recharge the battery, refreeze and repeat until it is operational. For best results freeze for several days at a time instead of just overnight. While this method is time consuming I can now get more than 20 minutes out of my battery!
  19. Thank you for that link.I have used PHP Designer 2005 and did enjoy using it. Since I got my new computer I have been using Notepad++ which just has syntax highlighting so this will make a nice change from the simplicity of N++.
