  1. That's basically the tutorial for coding XHTML. Great tutorial! It's very straight forward and easy to learn in minutes.
  2. alright. there's a slight chance they're right. but think about it, would you trust everything this rapper say? I don't mean to say that all rappers are stupid. there are rappers out there who may be smart. But generally, hip-hop artists, like most people don't know what's happening. These are just wild theories to get some attention I believe.
  3. Aah I see. I guess there's no need to spend any time opening up my computer. Thanks a lot, I appreciate the help.
  4. aah so it will only be beneficial if I am to use it for local network? How about massive surfing on the web, would dual connection help?
  5. Okay, I don't know if most of you have heard this song but I just came upon it now. I came across the phrase: "Bush knocked down the towers" I was like WTF!? I was so insulted that someone would say such a thing. Give me a reason as to why any President, not just Bush, would do that kind of thing. Here is a citation from the song: lyrics: - This is such a stupid conspiracy. if you recall, al queda tried to bomb the white house with the plane on 9/11 (luckily they failed because of the passengers team work to take the terrorists down) - Now ask yourself, why would the president hire a terrorist group to bomb the white house, where he lives? If you believe this guy then you're an idiot. - Yeah, I think he's saying he's gonna kill you? What do you guys think?
  6. Alright, it turns out I found an unopened ethernet PCI card somewhere around the house. I'm planning to install it on my computer and plug in an ethernet connection to it adding it on to my other ethernet connection. What I'm wondering is if I connect two cables to my computer, what will be the effect? Will it be faster? Will it lower my game ping down? Or it won't work at all. What will happen if I connect two ethernet connections to my computer?
  7. Okay, I've tried the google widgets and it takes up about 40mb of memory (minimum) and now I'm donwloading Yahoo! widgets. Can anyone recommend one of them and which one I should use?I'm looking for practicality and not widgets that are nonsense. Which of these is more practical
  8. Yep, I just recently found this amazing site. It lets you watch free streaming videos FULL!!! Visitors can watch most anime here and they're updated frequently. Also, there are cartoons and shows that are on TV that you might've missed. They also have old shows which are already cancelled and has all seasons. What is more is that you can watch movies there even the ones that have just been released. I haven't checked out the sports section but there is one. You should go and check it out. It's at: http://www.tv-links.co.uk/
  9. Well it turns out that nothing was wrong with My OS, Decoder, Drive nor video card. I found out that the display settings for "overlay" had its brightness down to 0, saturation 0 and contrast to 0. I simply set them to 100 and now it works fine.
  10. Well my DVD drive just came with the drive alone. It didn't come with anything else besides the Nero 7 Demo. It's an internal DVD+-RW burner (plays DVDs)
  11. Firstly, I am using Windows 200 OS and am trying to play a DVD movie using Win2K compatible dvd decoders. I've tried the following: VLC media player DivX (crashes) Media Player Classic The problem is that although it displays the video, the picture is very dark and colorless. It's not even viewable. What's the problem here? Is it the cable connection inside the tower? Is it the Operating System?
  12. I'm currently running Windows 2000 on it because I dont have a Windows XP CD (can't afford one yet). The PC works fine. But there's one more thing I need help on: Windows 2000 does not have any DVD decoder softwares that comes with it. Does anybody know any DVD decoder that is compatible with Win2K out there? I'd really appreciate it. Thank you again for the help.ethergeek: Hey man, seems you're pretty late... I got the computer to turn on now. It turns out the CPU fan wasn't screwed on properly.
  13. YAAAAAY!!! I finally got my PC up and running! I'm using it right now as I speak. Thank you thread contributors for helping me out. I couldn't have done it without you guys. ...Well it turned out there was something wrong with either the CPU fan installation or the power cables I inserted into the drives. Anyway, it works real fine! This is my first actually Game-capable PC I've ever bought. *sighs*
  14. OK, I'll do that as soon as I get back home. One question: Does the pc try to go to POST when I turn on the switch on the rear panel or when I press the power button on the front panel. Because The fans and lights work for a while when I turn on the switch from the rear panel, but the power button on the front panel won't turn the computer on, even for a bit.
  15. Ok, I've removed everything and replaced the wires and cables. Here are the observations after plugging it in:1. When I plugged in the power cable to the PC, no lights turned on.2. When I switched the PC to ON, the motherboard LED lit up, the power fan spun and then a second later it turned off.3. When I pressed the POWER button on the front panel, nothing happened.So.. what's the deal?
  16. Just built my new computer for the first time yesterday and it took me 5 hours to find out it won't even turn on. Here are the specs of my pc:Asus PowerUp Case ATX w/ 450 Watt PSUAsus A8SX Motherboard w/ AMD Athlon X2 processor 2.0ghz512mb DDR RAM80gb HDD Western Digital Caviar120mm Fan installed on rear panelE-GeForce 256 Graphics CardDVD double layer burnerHere's how it's hooked up as of now:1. PSU w/ 80mm fan was pre-installed on the case2. Motherboard is screwed *directly* onto the metal part of the case (I know it's bad setup, I need help what a spacer looks like)3. Optical Drive & HDD are connected to a single ATA cable (jumper settings are on CableSelect)4. CPU Fan is successfully installed on top of AMD processor5. Video card is connected via PCI-Express (no cables connected to it)6. Front panel cables are connected (not sure if they're in appropriate places)7. Optical Drive and HDD are connected to power cables provided by the PSU8. Motherboard is connected to the power supply (20-24 pin & 4 pin power cable)9. Memory is installed firmly10. Case is plugged in (at first we tried using 230v [i'm in US] and then it didn't power up so we tried 115V and it still didn't power up)Everything is new and right out of the box. I believe it is because of my amateure setup but because I am, I don't know where the source of the problem is.Please help me!
  17. HI, I'm currently a windows user hoping to move to linux. The problem is that I don''t know which one to pick. Also, I'm not a fan of using OS command lines to install softwares, configure settings, etc. I would like to have a linux that's mostly done through GUI. Is there such linux that fits my standards?
  18. Ok, I've looked at how much memory each Web browser takes up. Using Xisto.com as the control, I've ended up with these results:Rank 1-4 (1 being the most memory-hog)------------------------------------------------Netscape: 57,288KInternet Explorer: 29,968KFirefox: 24,672KOpera: 23,280KIt turns out that Opera is the browser that least takes up memory. However, I still stand by Firefox being the fastest page loader. But I will still use Opera fo multitasking because of it's memory takeup.
  19. Yep, CSS is not server-side. It's just a file that modifies how an HTML document looks. If you need tutorials on CSS, here's a link to it: http://www.w3schools.com/css/default.asp
  20. Well, basically all the libraries under the "LVP" directory causes the errors. In Dev-C++, it requires me to use <iostream> rather than <iostream.h>Dev-C++ is different from Visual C++ 6 (an older version)in Dev, I have to use "using namespaces std;" and "system("pause")" while VC doesn'tIs there a reason why this is?
  21. I recommend trying out MySQL with PHP (If you still haven't tried it). Although SQL Server is great and all, MySQL is a very fast database and responses very quickly (seems as if a static HTML document is loaded). Integrating it with PHP is real easy and quick to learn. It's just like learning how three functions work and how they are utilized. Also use PHPMyAdmin, which views the values stored in your databases and manipulates it. I've been using it for a while now and it's very helpful indeed. Although people look down on MySQL and prefer MS, it's a great database for use in Web Applications. If you would like to get even better, learn and integrate the Ajax object.XHTML/CSS/PHP/MySQL/Ajax(Javascript) I believe is the best combination for a web application.
  22. I'd like to disagree with you, I too have the three browsers. But I must say out of the three, Firefox is the best. Its page loading speed is faster than Opera. Plus, Opera causes errors that won't occur in Firefox. Opera's skin is too shiny for me (just my opinion). I read a thread once that stated that Opera was faster than Firefox. So I gave it a try, turns out Opera loaded the contents piece by piece (like Firefox) but it was slightly slower. Even though it's difference is slight, why not choose the faster one anyway?
  23. Thank you Xisto! I'd say this is really a great idea. I've always been looking for a free domain service and finding out about your offer in here is simply amazing.
  24. LMAO.... wow really funny (although I only chuckled a bit, in my mind I laughed). I thought this was serious too. Haha. I like how the joke put professions and sex together quite nicely. For those who don't get it, lawyers can sometimes "screw" you by extending your case more than it should take so they get charged more. I know because it happened to a relative of mine.
  25. My computer is slow as hell, so It's impossible to install Vista on this. However, buying a new and faster PC won't make me install Vista either. The layout seems pretty crazy and wild (things are everywhere) and as I am a very simple person (blank desktop wallpaper) I'd prefer getting WinXP instead. I'd mainly use the PC for gaming and developing, now since gaming in Vista seems to be too slow, then WinXP is better.
