  1. This is a very basic concept and it can work well for people that just want a basic sig. If you have photoshop or GIMP as pencilpoint suggested you can make more advanced sig images that look better. Of course it is more difficult but the end result is better.Otherwise it's a good tutorial for beginners-HellFire
  2. All i can really say is it's one big scam, i mean, it's a chat game and you pay for 'items' for your room? It's amazing at how many people can get sucked in and blow lots of money on useless things in this chat only game.I'd say it's more geared towards the younger people, i don't see what the point of the game is. You have instant messengers for chat and you've got things like icq and yahoo that can support chatrooms.-HellFire
  3. Yeah i can wait too, the main thing is that our sites are still working but some things can only be done by cpanel.Hope you guys fix it soon-HellFire
  4. I remember the game i used to like the most was tactical ops, a mod for unreal which was similar to counter strike if not better. My favourite game right now is battlefield 2 and soon to be battlefield 2142 when it comes out in the next few weeks. Ahh i remember all of the old dos games that only used to use around 1mb of ram, and now you have battlefield 2 which needs about 1.5gb to run properly -HellFire
  5. For my normal p2p sharing i use shareaza, which connects to both gnutella networks plus edonkey. Most of the time i usually have the edonkey network disabled because of its slow speed. For torrents i use azureus which is pretty powerful, plus all the addons you can get just make it better. It's written in java so it's multiplatform compatible. Shareaza does have torrent support but it's very limited.-HellFire
  6. You might want to check in the control panel sound options (control panel -> sound and audio devices).Under the device volume section there should be "Place volume icon in the taskbar", and enable that option. You can also get to the mixer through there by clicking advanced... and it will open up the mixer for you.If you don't get an option to enable the taskbar option check under add/remove programs then add/remove windows components on the left side and have a search under the multimedia section. Remember there are many subcategories and it could be hidden under one of them.-HellFire
  7. I don't see the big need to decrease shutdown times, even startup times. When i need my computer i turn it on and do something else while it's booting up. Then it's pretty much running all day. When i turn it off i leave it to turn itself off and that's it.I have a fair amount of programs running too but it doesn't bother me.-HellFire
  8. I remember the old days when i didn't even know google existed, i used to use msn search which is pretty crappy now. I can say not much has changed over there at msn.On the other hand google is a different story, if you look at all the products and services they have released it is just amazing. I started to use google when other people suggested it to me, google was pretty small when i started using it but it was everything i needed, clean and easy to read results with fast loading times.Their webmaster services are just amazing, with the sitemaps and the newly introduced website statistics, i have been using all of them on my new sites and it helps alot. Then you have gmail and google talk and everything, which is a whole different story.Happy 8th birthday google -HellFire
  9. +1 for opera. It has all the features i need plus with the new widgets you can expand opera's functionality. There are lots of themes and you can create your own, plus it is so easy to search using search engines and you can add your own search engines so you only need a keyword then the search query.I also like the integrated email and rss feeds, very handy because i usually always have opera open, i know when i have an email as soon as it arrives. It's download manager is cool too. With opera 9 supporting torrents i use opera more for downloading now too.-HellFire
  10. There are a number of ways, you could do a google search for free proxies or you can set one up yourself with a hosting account. You can find all you need to on google. Another way is to use the ip addresses, ping the domain name and it should come out with the ip, then put the ip in the address bar (for example: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/). I would go with setting up your own private proxy because you are pretty much sure that it wont be blocked. -HellFire
  11. What i always keep running in the background is:Norton internet securityRealteak HD audio managerBroadcom controllerNvidia control panelOpera browserDu meter (bandwith monitor)Xfire (gaming chat program)The programs that i use reguarly are:Winamp - music/video/otherstuffPhotoshop - picture editing/designmIRC - irc chat clientMsn messenger - chatTeamspeak - chatVentrilo -chatI'm sure there's more but i'm just too tired to list them -HellFire
  12. You can do this in frontpage but other programs can do it better. If you right click on the file you can open it in the actual editor that frontpage has. Since i no longer use frontpage i don't know exactly how to do it.I recommend you use a different editor. Ones that i have tried are textpad, crimson editor and dreamweaver. Textpad and crimson editor are both free and do a good job. Crimson editor also has special features that will help you with editing. You can get textpad from: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ crimson editor from: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ need to pay for dreamweaver but it is a fantastic program and you should get it.-HellFire
  13. I used to play knight online but it got a bit boring and buggy, also i hate games that have been translated. I'm going to have a look at silkroad online because that seems to be the best one at the moment. There is a free game called savage and i think it is a cross between an rpg, rts and fps. I've played a bit of it and i haven't really liked it but if you want to try it out -> http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ -HellFire
  14. I wouldn't go for either, i just don't like ipods and i think they are pretty crappy in the design, also i don't want to get something from microsoft. I would rather a creative branded player which have good designs and features and they don't break down every year.-HellFire
  15. It's pretty easy in imageready, since you have photoshop you are likely to have imageready. Load up the psd and slice it up. The slices will be individual image files and will represent tables.Give each slice a setting if needed and save it as an optimized html file.In the past i have had some trouble with this, it will show up differently on different resolutions.-HellFire
  16. I suggest paypopup. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ it is popups but the way they present them are not really annoying, plus you can set it for like 1 popup per session. Sessions last how long the cookies do so that could be 1 popup every month. The payout rates are good too, they use paypal or wire transfer for large ammounts of money. They are highly customizable too and you don't need to find a spot in your website to display them.-HellFire
  17. Hmm i think i remember microsoft saying that vista would be released in march this year, what month is it now? September. Well if we are waiting more we would expect a more complete and working operating system. It's better to wait longer for a full working release than to have it now but it's buggy as hell. When it comes out i might not get it straight away, i'll probably wait for my next upgrade.-HellFire
  18. What i think could be causing this is if your motherboard has a hardware firewall on the network ports. It might've been having trouble with some of the email ports which could lead to what you just experienced, in that case the motherboard needed to be replaced and it looks like it solved the issue. If the board didn't have an onboard firewall then it could just be the actual network card that was faulty.-HellFire
  19. I use norton but there is no real difference between the startup times for me. I've also heard that if you have too many files in your root c: drive it can lead to slow boot times. I don't think this applies with windows xp though but it might still apply. Also the registry is another choke point for startup, it can get pretty damn big too. Mine is about 80mb, that's 80mb full of text basically.-HellFire
  20. I think it's a great idea but it could also be a big fire hazard too, especially in countries with hot weather. With petrol prices going up people are starting to turn to gas, and there is only a limited supply of petrol in the world we are going to have to find another alternative.Hydrogen is one of them but it is dangerous. If they can invent some car that uses a substance that doesn't cause harm then we should start seeing new types of cars.-HellFire
  21. Because people say it's too adictive i won't even try it. I'm not a big fan of rpg's anyway and all this crap you hear about people dieing from playing world of warcraft could be true. Plus who the hell would play a pay to play game? You buy the game, then your expected to pay every month after that? No thanks. It doesn't even look great and from what i've heard you can only reach upto level 60 then if you want to go higher you need to buy the expansion pack, so if you still want more fun out of it your expected to give even more money to blizzard.I'm not even going to pick up a copy of world of warcraft.-HellFire
  22. It depends on how many devices you are going to be networking really, in my opinion you should ditch wireless and get some wired panels installed into your house, then use a wired network. There are a number of good points that a wired network has over a wireless one:1. Speed, wired networks are faster because it doesn't need to travel through air2. Security, you really need physical access to the devices and the house if the cables are routed through the roof etc to hack into it, even still if you use a router the hackers still going to need to set it up. In short a wired network is MUCH harder to hack without being detected.3. Reliability, wired networks don't drop out or lose signals. What i've found is that some wireless network routers say they can go up to like 10 meters. Yeah sure that's the case when you first start using it but it decreases with age. It's really dependant on the quality of the router.Unless you have a laptop or something then you might want to get a small wireless router just for the laptop, even still if they hack into the communication between the laptop and the router they can get into the network if they can get all the passwords right. If you use a wired/wireless combo's and you set it up right there will be 2 passwords to hack to gain access to the entire network.Simply - go wired-HellFire
  23. Hmm looks like if microsoft wants to get vista right it will need to have some feature to detect this, unless they release a patch later or something.I wonder what happens if the user doesn't have an amd processor but an intel 64 one, which uses it's own virtualization technology.-HellFire
  24. Yeah i agree too. One day google will probably be more powerful in the OS market than microsoft and with google os'es running on most pc's then more people will turn to them and the more money/resources they get then they can expand perhaps by making gaming consoles and games, making hardware and everything. If they do that i think there is a verry good chance the google will overthrow microsoft, but i can't see it anytime soon. Probably in a few years we can start to see what google really can do.-HellFire
  25. Heh i wonder what graphics card is in yours.Mine was around $850 AUD and here is my specs - 3GHZ pentium dXP pro1 gb of ram ( soon to be upgrading to 2gb because of the stutter lag in bf2 )GeForce 6600 256mbcdrw120gb hdNot as powerful as yours as far as things like hd space and ram but mine is a bit more on the performance side, and getting the parts here in Australia is cheap if you build it yourself ( and go to the right store )anyway enjoy your new pc-HellFire
