  1. sorry for the double post, i removed some image tags because i was posting to many images and this is my banner template which i accidently posted the above image on https://g' alt='Posted Image' class='bbc_img' />
  2. okay well i said i would release a few more so here they are i hope you enjoy and please rate each out of 10 and give some kind critism, thanks alot This post is going to be mainly about sigs ive made this month http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/404.png https://g''>https://g'>http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/404.png https://g This is my best sig by far, i think at least....i spent alot of time on this sig and got $10 for it, this is the first sig i got paid for making so im pretty happy about it, i was originally going to use a render of link (from zelda) but i felt the green just didnt look good so i found this guy from half life http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/404.png https://g''>https://g'>http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/404.png https://g this is a sig i made for reaver (in my last thread) i dunno what i was thinking here, i dont like it..its a bit to grungy for me but ya, plus i cant really read the "survival of the strongest" text i think i should have chosen a better text or enlarged it a bit... http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/404.png https://g''>https://g'>http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/404.png https://g this was one of my contest sigs, for an anime theme, i got second but i was kinda happy with the out come of this sig i spend probably about 15 minutes on this and it was black and white untill the very end where i chose a colour at random and it looked good i tried this colour first, then checked out red, blue and green but this is what i believed to look the best http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/404.png https://g''>https://g'>http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/404.png https://g another contest sig, unforchunetly the opponent never submitted so i won by default any ways this was a weird render i had to use and it took me a while to get it ready but i finished the sig in just under an hour and im not to happy with how the clouds apeared.... its kinda looks stupid to me http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/404.png https://g''>https://g' alt='Posted Image' class='bbc_img' /> ya i know, the first thing you notice is the "rippers beware" well this is once of my sigs that i release the .psd so i just left that layer there to warn people you know...but ya this is definetly my worst sig in my opinion, the colours are way to strong and the render is almost invisible behind all the saturation, not my best work... http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/404.png https://g''>https://g' alt='Posted Image' class='bbc_img' /> this was a banner template i made, not overly happy with it....this was my first attempt at stars which turned out alright i guess but the banner it self was not as good as my blue indigo one http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/404.png https://g''>https://g' alt='Posted Image' class='bbc_img' /> http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/404.png https://g''>https://g' alt='Posted Image' class='bbc_img' /> http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/404.png https://g''>https://g' alt='Posted Image' class='bbc_img' /> these are "sig buddies" (as i call them) i made for agerage forum they will probably be entered in a contest within the next few days but for now im happy with them http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/404.png https://g''>https://g' alt='Posted Image' class='bbc_img' /> this is my first verticle sig, it was really differnt and a nice change from all the horizontal ones but it was just over all difficult to make and i couldnt figuer out how to blend the names so i just but the blue things on the top and bottem and type on them.... http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/404.png https://g''>https://g' alt='Posted Image' class='bbc_img' /> i kinda like this one, it has a nice grunge effect and the reflection on the car is definetly better then some of my most recent reflection work, i think the seats of the car could have blended a bit more but over all i think its a fairly good sig http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/404.png https://g''>https://g' alt='Posted Image' class='bbc_img' /> now, i dont know what made this sig so difficult for me but it was really hard, i spent all day doing stuff to it because i thought it just looked bad, i changed the render at least 6 times and the colour just doesnt agree with me, but the customer was happy so i guess it all worked out... http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/404.png https://g''>https://g' alt='Posted Image' class='bbc_img' /> not one of my best sigs, i think it resembles Arains sig to much but ya thats about it hmmm and i think i made the stars a bit to obvious for my liking and the name is a bit to blury too which was not in my best intrest http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/404.png https://g''>https://g' alt='Posted Image' class='bbc_img' /> ach definetly a bad banner, i hate it! i dont know what i was thinking when i used the bad english but again, as long as the customer liked it, it was okay... so thats just some of my recent work, please rate all of them outta 10 and give some posative and negative comments, thanks alot
  3. thanks alot for your info and im glad you like the virus wall paper which might i add you caught perfectly, but i dont know, its just to white for me
  4. computers will always be on top, sure xbox 360 has revealed msn integration but pc has hd that for a long time, ps3 and xbox 360 are definetly a big step forward im justsurprised they released them so soon after xbox and ps2and where is nintendo revolution in this topic?? i mean has anyne even thought of the new remote that comes with nintendo revolution?! its wireless and it sences where your remote is pointing and does it in the game, so if you swing your arm in real time, your going to swing your arm in the game and with FPS just move your remote closer to the tv to zoom in, itspretty cool, but computers will rule now and forever no console can surpas what a pc can do at the moment (maybe a mac )
  5. i thought we already had a topic like this?? i think its in the whats new forum...
  6. ya i know others have already answered but heres my fix on things1) no its not freeware, its very versitile so i think its worth the price tag attached to it but its much easier for yourself to get it for free2)yes, its very easy to use if your getting into graphic design this program is a must have not seomthing i recommend starting out with but its definetly the leading in graphic design programs3)this i ill have to say no, because the people who have tried it do ge very confused very fast, i did and alot of my frends did, so a great thing at this point would be of good use would be tutorials tutorials and more tutorials its a life saviour, it really is
  7. file download limit for free is accually based how much you download (50 megs) and premium account is definetly worth the money you spend on it
  8. a correction on my previous post, thier outgoing server is working good but thier incoming server doesnt seem to be working for me, also thier support and blog system is down and there site is still slow as heck
  9. plus this service doesnt alow outgoing or incoming mail, with the domain liou.ca....you can send stuff to yourself but you cant send to others and cabt recieve from others
  10. wtf! whats up with all these people trying to get the most space ever?! its not that important! plus its free there is no invite only which is stupid, they dont have an infinite amount of space, its imposable. that like 3hdds of 300gigs for 1 account!and thier interface is really boring, although its no adds its still pretty boring and the server is annoyingly slow! my web accelorator is pickup up 13 minutes! what is this???
  11. ya i wouldnt mind an invite either, it be a nice thing to check out, is the interface difficult to understand? are ads stamped all over the place?
  12. This was copied off the gmail help center https://support.google.com/mail/ "Is Google reading my email?" "Google is NOT reading your mail. Privacy is an issue we take very seriously. Gmail is a technology-based program, so advertising and related information are shown using a completely automated process. Ads are selected for relevance and served by Google computers using the same contextual advertising technology that powers our AdSense program. This technology lets Google target dynamically changing content such as email or daily news stories. Because the ads and related pages are matched to information that is already of interest to you, we hope you'll find them relevant and useful. If you'd like to know more about how Google handles your Gmail information, please read our Gmail Privacy Policy." and this is number 1 in the privacy statement "1. Is Google reading my email? No. Google scans the text of Gmail messages in order to filter spam and detect viruses, just as all major webmail services do. Google also uses this scanning technology to deliver targeted text ads and other related information. This is completely automated and involves no humans." and a privacy statement from New York Times
  13. google will be forever in the beta stage because well they will keep improving them self till they have the monopoly, as they say they are always wanting everyone to do what ever they wish with google so 1)gmail offers you to use your own email address with the good account, so you can use your school account with gmail space2)also with gmail you have google talk which is integrated with gmail (just like msn with hotmail) and google talk will soon create msn, icq, aim and yahoo integration because they want the google users to do what what they want with google and all of its tools3)gmail offers GmailDrive, this is a program in which you install and it adds a removable drive to your computer alowing you to set you your own game server or web server on your gmail account!4)The draft system is definetly a cool feature with an autosave feature just added its by far the coolest out there, like have you ever been working on an email for like 10 mins then your browser decideds to preform an illegal error and shut down on you?? well with autosave it will still be there for you :mellow:gmail is by far the best email out there, maybe not in space because 30gigs is out there and they say they plan to expand to 50 then 100gigs, but i will remain faithful to google untill this 30gigs alows you to make a removable drive outta the email account then i can make some use out of itgoogle coming out with a paypal system is also another sted up, since paypal has had alot of stupid competitors like yowcow and worldcash google will be the first smart one to take on the challenge of paypal and offer things like no commision faster proccessing and non of the gay limited access bs that paypal does (maybe something like it but not as a hassle to lift the access)just face it all your google haters, google is ahead in the race, and they're canadian!
  14. lol im stickin with photoshop, since i know it inside out
  15. ya but i dont think 30gigs comes with the option to have a removable drive, so you wouldnt be able to set up a server on it :s
  16. waste of time.....gmails 2.6 gigs is good enough, plus its continuously incresing, and you get to use it as a removable drive, maybe if 30gigs did that i might consider making an effort to get aan account, and if the maximum file size is above the average 500kb that would be nice too.i personally think its kinda stupid to have an email account that is pretty much half of a average 60gig hd, expecially when you cant use it as a removable drive like gmail
  17. sorry i didnt wait for your responce but i was board i hope you like it
  18. Thanks alot, ya ill make you a sig, just tell me what you want on it (ie. colours, name, renders) and ill post it lol thanks, but these took me a long time and when i say that im under exagurating, the best thing for you to do if you want to make something like these, use some 3d rendering programs, they save so much time its unbelieveable (i was stupid and stuck with ps ) but i gaurentee you that you can make images better then the ones i have posted if you use programs like Maya or Discreet 3d Studio Max and maybe get a 3d rendering book for dummies or a begginers book for one of those programs
  19. Sorry for the double postGoogle Inc. This year plans to offer an electronic-payment service that could help the Internet-search company diversify its revenue and may heighten competition with eBay Inc.'s PayPal unit, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday.Exact details of the search company's planned service are not known, the report said, but quoted people familiar with the matter as saying it could have similarities with PayPal, which allows consumers to pay for purchases on Web sites by funding electronic-payment accounts from their credit cards or checking accounts.A Google spokesperson contacted by Reuters declined comment. For Google, based in Mountain View, Calif., a payment service could represent a significant expansion beyond online advertising, which generated 99 percent of its $3.2 billion in revenue last year, the Journal said. Online-payment providers typically take a commission on each transaction.lol gpal??"Bob Hettinga points to two articles that report that Google is about to release a payment system modelled on PayPal. This makes sense. They have the user base, they have the Finance Application, and what's more they have a scientific basis that has consistently allowed them to avoid nonsense and hype, almost unique in the field.I suspect they will give Paypal a run for their money. Paypal was always shaky, always an easy target for a good competitor. The fact that only dumb competitors tried to take them on should not be taken to mean that Paypal are a stable well run company with many feet on the ground.Where Google will fall short is in the higher layers. Particularly, their regulatory and relationships side is likely to be their archilles heel, that being a reflection of the company as full of geeks that think there isn't a problem that can't be solved by a neat algorithm. They will shine in the lower layers and muddle along in governance and accounting.I don't think this will shake their eventual success, but it will shake their cosy world views. What is more interesting is what happens when and if Google succeeds. Microsoft will then move in as well and then it will get very interesting. The reason Microsoft aren't in is that they can't afford to antagonise the banks; those with long memories might recall that they made a few choice comments in the mid 90s that caused a few upset lunches. But with Google protecting their flank, there's no force in the argument that the banks don't want competition."The Wall Street Journal"The Wall Street Journal reports that Search Engine leader Google is planning an electronic payment system for later in the year. Such a move would have a major financial impact on one of its main advertising supporters, Internet Auction site EBay. During the first quarter, almost all of Google's $126 billion revenue came from advertising and a good proportion of that came from merchants who advertise their goods on the Google adwords entries that appear alongside the search results.EBay bought Paypal for $1.3 billion in 2002 and has grown it to a customer count of 71 million. Income from Paypal accounted for $233.1 million last year - 23 percent of total. The payment service profits from levying fees from the transactions that it helps to complete. The electronic accounts are funded by credit cards or banking account transfers. Google's management wouldn't comment on the reports but it might be a logical move. Such a rival to Paypal and its less significant rivals like Stormpay and E-Gold would reduce the Search operators dependence on advertising revenue.Google Inc. this year plans to offer an electronic-payment service that could help the Internet-search company diversify its revenue and may heighten competition with eBay Inc.'s PayPal unit, according to people familiar with the matter.Exact details of the search company's planned service are not known. But the knowledgeable people say it could have similarities with PayPal, which allows consumers to pay for purchases on Web sites by funding electronic-payment accounts from their credit cards or checking accounts. Some consumers like PayPal for the security it offers, since it allows them to share their banking or credit-card numbers only with PayPal without having to divulge the information to merchants.Spokespeople for Google and PayPal declined to comment. For Google, Mountain View, Calif., a payment service could represent a significant expansion beyond online advertising, which generated 99% of its $3.2 billion in revenue last year. Online-payment providers typically generate revenue by taking a commission on each transaction.Depending on the exact details, Google's move could potentially threaten eBay's successful PayPal service, which generated $233.1 million, or 23% of eBay's revenue in the first quarter. PayPal has been widely adopted by buyers and sellers on eBay's auction marketplace as a way to pay for purchases. Recently, eBay has been trying to expand PayPal's presence as a payment system for other Web sites. In the first quarter, 71% of PayPal's revenue came from eBay auctions, the company says."It could be a pretty big negative for eBay if it happens," says Safa Rashtchy, Internet analyst at Piper Jaffray. Mr. Rashtchy said he believes Google is also working on a classified-listing service, which also would compete with eBay, San Jose, Calif. The moves would highlight the growing rivalry between the two Internet companies, even while eBay itself is a big buyer of Google's online ads. For example, many eBay sellers now also sell through their own Web sites, to which they attract shoppers by buying search-related ads on Google.Google has offered a hint that it might set up an online-payment service. Its Web site says the company will eventually allow consumers to pay to view videos online. But Google to date has not provided any details of any payment-service plans. Google currently accepts credit-card payments for some services, including advertisements and customized research.Rumors about a new Google payment service escalated following a panel discussion at a Piper Jaffray Internet conference on Thursday. At the conference, Scot Wingo, chief executive of ChannelAdvisor, a Morrisville, N.C. e-commerce consulting firm, said he believed the payment service would be launched soon. In an interview, Mr. Wingo said he based his statement on questions from retailers with which his company works. Mr. Wingo said the retailers have asked him whether ChannelAdvisor would support the service, which some believe goes by the code name Google Wallet.During the discussion, Patrick Byrne, president of online retailer Overstock.com Inc., recalls saying, "Yes, this Google Wallet sounds like it might be great. But is all this public yet?" In an interview, Mr. Byrne says he has not had any "substantive discussions" with Google about a payment service.Beyond a possible additional revenue stream, an electronic-payment service could give Google more insight into the effectiveness of its core advertising service. Google might be able to better track whether users who click on search-related advertisements make purchases from the advertiser."
  20. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ google has alot of things planed its amazing how much theve accually followed threw on "Google to Team with NASA in Space Research"

  22. By itself, IPB is relatively easy on the server load, considering the cool stuff it does. But when you start adding a bunch of mods to your site you may start to see the pages taking longer and longer to load, until eventually people won't come to your site anymore because the pages never finish loading. This topic is for both mod makers, and forum owners looking to install mods or skins on their site.1. Control the query count. This is the most important mistake new modders make and release in their mods. You want to limit the number of queries you do as much as possible. Queries take processing power, and with a large database this means page loading time. If you find that in order to make your mod you have to code it to run several queries on every page load you are going to have a poorly performing mod. I installed a mod for a friend not too long ago that was coded to use 4 queries just to find out one piece of data. That is so inefficient and really quite negligent that it's not even laughable. I rewrote the code for this mod for my friend. So if you are a forum owner, take the time to go through the code if it is a small mod and see how many times it does $DB-> commands. If you see it doing this an awful lot, this should throw up a red flag; check the mod's support topic to see if anyone had problems with it.So what do you do if you're a mod writer and you need to get your data? Try using the cache, in IPB 2.0 there is a built-in cache system that will store important data for you. This does add some page load time to the board because of the memory requirements for this cache, but it's easier on your server than querying. You can even do a kind of cache in IPB 1.3, I did it for one of my mods. Also consider using LEFT JOIN commands to link multiple tables together in a query. You should never run one query to get one piece of data, then immediately use that same data to run another query.2. Keep your code neat & tidy. Check out IPB's source code, it is very well organized and efficient. Most functions start off the same way, by doing error/permission checking. Do this part right away because you can save server load by doing it first. If you deny someone access to a part of your mod, then the code that would have to run to generate that part of the mod will never run.If you are a forum owner, the best thing to look for in the mods you install is that the code has a definite structure. You should see the code indented properly, curly brackets used correctly, comments where needed, efficient 'if' statements, etc. Seeing that the modder has taken the time to write their code in this manner typically shows that they really know what they are doing. The code is much more likely to be efficient on your board's resources. The IPB source code should be your yardstick here: if you can plug the mod's code right in and not even tell it's there, it's probably a well-coded mod.3. Query for only what you need. Yes, it may be tempting to just use the "SELECT * FROM..." in your queries, and while developing this is typically acceptable. But when you get your mod finished up you need to make sure the queries pull only the data you need. If the table has 8 columns, and you only need 4 of them for this section of the mod, then pulling those 4 columns will take up half as much server load. So look through your code and see which fields you use later on in either the source or the skin, and adjust your queries to just pull those. As a forum owner, take a look through their code and see if they are doing any "SELECT * FROM..." queries. While this isn't something that you will immediately discard the mod over, it should be noted that this mod is probably not going to be as easy on your server as it could (and should) be. This becomes very important on larger, more popular boards. These are a few of the big points, but there are certainly others. Feel free to share your own tricks, or ask any questions about these.
  23. lol....its coold after all i kinda made them to be wall papers not like they will ware out or anything
  24. ya im into desert combat, accually im into battle field 2 now its not overly impressing, it didnt blow me away but its pretty cool
