Wrong Password/username - Fatal Error In Horde
derouge replied to derouge's topic in Web Hosting Support
I would submit a support request - except I cant. At least, I dont think so. I clicked the "Submit a Support Request" button and it brought up the page. Except, it doesnt allow me to file one. It says "The System Admin has not configured this feature yet." So .. :| -
I keep getting a fatal error when trying to check my webmail using Horde, through the CPanel. Also, when I try to open PhpMyAdmin I get an error saying "Wrong username/password. Access denied." However, I'm logged into CPanel fine, and after getting this error I changed my password. That went fine, as well. This is really annoying, I'm locked out of some stuff I sorta need access too. Anyone able to help?

HAH! Looks great, a great laugh, too. I don't think I'd be hunting turkeys if I saw him hobbling around.

How To Be Successful Web Master? What means of successful?
derouge replied to ah_guan89's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Yeah, PureHeart hit the definitions pretty much right on. I've always found that, for me, its much harder to be a web "master" than a web "designer." To keep a site going you have to be constantly adding fresh content - which is a lot more effort, often, than just designing a site. <shrug> -
Speed isn't everything for me, and to be honest I haven't tried Opera in quite some time. I use Firefox, currently, and besides testing page designs I'll never open IE. I hate it. Firefox is fast enough for me .. I'm not really a need-for-speed guy. I love the extensions and tabbed browsing, those two alone lay the smack down on IE. I guess maybe I'll give Opera another try, but at the moment Firefox is my browser. Interesting article.

My Home Page Is Awful. I Need Help
derouge replied to Destiny1405241510's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Well .. I always draw my sites out on a notebook, first. Sounds dorky, I know, but it works. Sketch out tables, text and banner areas, menus, links, etc and the other basic structural things. Don't worry about how graphical they look, yet. Then I set my page up in black, white, and maybe another color or two to designate certain areas. I'll use boxes of color to represent images and such. Then get graphical. I pretty much completely suck at graphics, so I just play around in GIMP for a few days until something that I like comes out. Then apply it to the site. Change all your text colors and links and whatnot and see how the site looks. It'll probably be pretty close to what you imagined. If you need specific help, post here! The way your site sounds maybe an IFRAME would work? Do a main table with a link bar on the left and an IFRAME in the right. I love IFRAMES. Once again, give us a link! -
Although Windows may make users stupid, sometimes it doesnt matter. Take for example my 80 year old grandmother. Last year I taught her how to use email and browse the net so she could keep in touch with out of state relatives. Thanks to Windows I was able to keep that process relatively simple - a few clicks and whatnots and shes up and going. Extremely simple. I am a Linux newb myself, and sometimes I find myself frustrated. MS handed me everything on a silver platter. Linux, well .. the platter is gold but you gotta get it yourself.

Wireless Network With Windows, Linux, Dlink ..
derouge replied to derouge's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I got it up and working okay after some fooling around, Tadex .. but I guess thanks for the advice anyways. I still am having troubles getting it to start up when I login. I have to toy around with it a bit before it decides to pop up. Annoying, but whatever. I've been too busy the past weeks to even spend a little bit of time toying with it, but with Thanksgiving break coming up hopefully I'll have a day to sit down and delve a little deeper. -
Sizes In Webdesign: Em Vs. Px and why em is better
derouge replied to ruben1405241511's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Very neat .. I'm just getting into CSS so this might be useful. Thanks for the tutorial! Any questions I have will be posted back here, so keep watching. -
I'll probably go with a 360, but not sure. The thing I love about consoles is they're sorta social things. It's a rare occasion that I sit down and play a game all by myself for any "long" period of time. It's always with my friends or brothers, a competetive game of hockey or shoot 'em up Halo. In my opinion you can't get that with a PC .. at least not as easily. So yeah, I'll be sticking with the consoles pretty much for that. I don't play many graphics-intensive games on my comp anyways. So, yeah. Console for me! Most likely Xbox 360 but possibly a PS3.

Wireless Network With Windows, Linux, Dlink ..
derouge replied to derouge's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Alrighty, just want to say that this is posted on my new linux OS computer! Woohooo! I dunno how I really got it working .. mostly messing with the sudo iwconfig ath0 commands and playing around with some other interfaces. Point is, it's up and running and I just wanna say thanks to all the folks here. You'll probably be seeing a lot more newb questions in the short future. -
Wireless Network With Windows, Linux, Dlink ..

In that Read-Me you gave me, it says I need to use the "make config" command. When I open terminal and type that it says "Make is not a recognized command." -
Wireless Network With Windows, Linux, Dlink ..

I have the 520 Revision B. As for buying a new card .. not really an option at the moment. I'm sorta cash strapped and would rather not buy a new card. I guess I could look into it, but I'd really prefer not to. I'll take another look at the Read Me, then, and get back to ya's with any questions .. -
Wireless Network With Windows, Linux, Dlink ..

No .. I did not mean a 250, I meant a 520, exactly as posted. -
Okay. To start off let me, please, declare that I am an absolute beginner to Linux. I've been spoon fed my entire life by Microsoft, and have finally become fed up. Not only that, but I've also decided to get a bit more .. "in tune" with how computers and operating systems work. Linux seemed good, so I started my journey. I now have Ubuntu 5.10 ("Breezy Badger) up and running, and running darn good! Except, a little (actually, major) problem. I can't get my wireless connection to work. Which isn't surprising seeing as how it normally takes me several hours with Windows, but whatever .. moving on. I need it to co-exist with 2 other computers, which both run Windows XP (one Home and one Pro). I have a DLink DI-614+ Router with a DLink DSS-5+ Switch. The XP Pro computer is plugged directly into the router, and is set up so that it does not know any other computers are on the network, because of company policies. The XP Home computer is using a DLink DWL-G520+ Rev. A wireless card, works great. The Ubuntu computer is using a DLink DWL-520+ Rev. B wireless card. It doesnt work so great. It functioned properly in my old windows setup, so I know the card is good. I just need to get it configured. I really dunno where to even start. So, if anyone is able to even nudge me in the right direction I'm willing to get crackin'. As stated above I'm interested in actually learning, not just getting it up and running. In-depth instructions are pretty nice, but they're almost worthless if you just put 'em without any how/why/where stuffs. Thanks in advance!

If this makes the boot time longer, how much so? I mean, if it's only an extra second or two it doesnt matter. But if it's gonna be a minute or something extreme like that .. not worth the time.

I use AVG now .. however, I used to use Norton and it never really impressed me. "Kapersky" sounds interesting, though. Maybe I'll look into that.

Paper Thin Video Screen The morning news video?
derouge replied to kaputnik's topic in Science and Technology
I dont think we really need this technology. So many kids are already "reading deficient" and replacing print with video is just a bad idea. Oh well, we'll have to see. In my opinion it also seems a bit expensive to add to a newspaper. But, I suppose there could be some cool technical uses. Maybe advertisements in a newspaper versus stories/pictures in a newspaper.I, too, thought of Harry Potter right away! xD Could imagine hanging myself on the wall and moving around .. would be sorta cool. -
Cute; made me chuckle.

Windows Activation Legal, but without a key ..
derouge replied to derouge's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Well, the first time I tried to activate (during install) there would have been no AntiVirus .. however, as soon as I got Windows up I put on Norton AntiVirus, MS AntiSpyware, and Spybot Search & Destroy. After that, activation still didnt work. I may just look into Linux, I'm frustrated with Microsoft's crap treatment of legit customers. -
The 'good Website' So what does it take to make...
derouge replied to twitch's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Content for me, too, is much more important than a flashy, eye-catching design. However, I definitely agree that you need a decent looking page to keep your visitors coming back. If you have great content .. but then a page with a color scheme like a white background with lime green text, not many people gonna show up.I guess there really isn't a magic percentage for each category. You just gotta do what you gotta do. -
Cool! Happy birthday to Google, top search engine on the net! I just hope they keep getting bigger and better and stick to their roots.
