Very good~ This is the first time I've seen that pixel stretch used effectively.

Err... I guess it's pretty cool. I don't really see the point. ^_- However, I do congratulate you on working all those color effects out. I'm sure they'd be really cool if you incorporated them into some other graphic. :3

My First Siggie what do you think
alis replied to warbird1405241485's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Yes, yes. Most everyone has mentioned the major things. You need a little more contrast and more stuff. It's just too blank. ^_- Play around with differnet kinds of backgrounds and don't be afraid to make the pictures big - it doesn't matter if parts of it get cut off. It's better to make them bigger and more visible. -
I Need A Little Feedback On My Latest

Nice! The perspective is quite convincing. However, I would suggest reducing the opacity of the scanlines. They look a little loud. ^_- -

Photoshop Tutorial: How To Make That Popular Three Pixel Border
alis replied to alis's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Thanks SB, jet. And yeap, it's in fasion. -
eww. I don't like myjanee. All her tuts look so cheesy and fake. Plus, I don't think she has a good grasp of everything photoshop can do. I mean, she doesn't even seem to know what a dropshadow is! Her instructions say to use the brush tool with black at a low opacity. XP But I do have to admit that that one corkboard tutorial is quite decent. It's very unique. For ps tuts, I would suggest good-tutorials.com and pixel2life. Good-tuts is organised and faster loading, so in general I like it better, But p2l has just as good tuts.

I'm not seeing anything. Just "Garbesi". *shrug* If that's the way it's supposed to be, then I'd like to point out two things:- there's a horizonal scrollbar. (800x600)- the reflection/shadow thing is off. for example, the swoop of the r should go left. Besides that, it looks really cool. Could you maybe make the animation a little smoother?

=_= waaait, I thought they already merged? Or did Adobe only announce that it was definitly going to buy macromedia?

Photoshop Tutorial: How To Retouch Pictures?
alis replied to soleimanian's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
I like the first one. It looks very good and very believeable. The third one also looks pretty good, but the nose.... is just a little too smeary. It looks too flat near the top (of the nose) and too sharp near the bottom where you didn't smear any freckles out. -
Photoshop Tutorial: Create Text Like Ice!
alis replied to soleimanian's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
It would be nice if you put picture up. I didn't try the tut myself because I don't want to spend time on something that might look cheesy. wykked, where did you get lost? -
Truthfully, I really don't like the finished outcome and I don't think it looks anything like blood. However, this part: looks cool. It's a cool effect.

Photoshop Tutorial: Forum Signatures
alis replied to Dream1405241490's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Very nice. It very easy to understand. However, if you don't mind, I'd like to suggest something on step five. It works pretty much the same way, but It give you a little more room for making changes. Use the lasso tool with a feather set at ...oh 15 or so and make the selecting roughly around the edges. The click "Add layer mask" It should be at the bottom of the layers floting thing. Right under the layer thumbnail. Here's a kinda vague example. I made this ages ago and it's kinda ugly, but you get the picture. From there, you can click on the thumbnail on the right. (the black and white one). Use the brush tool set at either black or white and mess around with it. redsox: There really isn't much to it. Just go to DeviantArt.com. Browse>Resources>PS brushes. There are a bunch of really good brushes. Once you have them saved and loaded, open up a big-ish canvas in PS and just start brushing. You kinda need an eye for it. Once you have some good brushes, you'll find it easier. -
Secret Behind Your Nick/User Names Where did they come from?
alis replied to szupie's topic in Introductions
There really isn't much of a story. "alis" is based off my name irl, plus I have a thing for Alice in Wonderland and Disney and all that jazz. (And musicals. XD) On some forums, my username is actually alis in wonderland. Plus, I just kinda like the sound and look of it. It's simple and pretty and not many people are called alis/alice. I don't think I've ever met another Alice on the internet or online. :3 -
I'm going to start out with a sig I made in another tut. (link) 1. Make a new layer on top of your sig. 2. Use the rectangular marquee tool to select the whole sig. The whole thing 3. Hit D. Edit>stroke (not layer> layer style> stroke) 4. Use the magic wand to select everything except that black stroke you just made. (Just click anywhere in the middle) 5. Hit x and repeat 3. Color should be white. 6. Repeat 4 and 5 to make make another black stroke inside. Eww. Yucky. Blending Option> Overlay Woohoo~!! More examples:

Alrighty, let's start off with a bad jpeg. We've all seen then. We all hate them. I got mine from here: (link). It's a wonderful site for bad jpegs and gifs. (I hope you don't mind me using Jasmine. I have a thing for Disney. ) *sheilds eyes in horror* Lets take it to photoshop. ((On a side note, CorelDraw 9 has some really cool functions. The one I use all the time is CorelCapture. You just hit a a button, and you can take selections from you screen. Very similar to the PrintScreen button, except you can pick selections and it always works. My PrintScreen button has a tendency to suddenly... not work on me. XP)) Play around with these settings. I actually didn't choose the best ones b/c I still had a few discolored pixels when I was done. Just mess around. Voila. Took less than 30 seconds, actually. I went a little farther with this picture and made a sig for my friend. I'll throw it in too. It's nothing special, really. Typical. Just used brushes from here. (link) Make a new layer and pick two nice turquoise-ish colors off Jasmine's outfit and go to filter>render>clouds. Damn. There seems to be a picture limit. Oh well, I guess you'll just have to click the link. Sorry for the trouble. http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b329/wond-gfx/1-4.jpg Set blending option to color (missing a picture) Put the Jasmine picture on top. (new layer) http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b329/wond-gfx/1-5.jpg Add a little outer glow http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b329/wond-gfx/1-6.jpg this is how it looks with the glow http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b329/wond-gfx/1-7.jpg Add text. Font: Scriptina. available on http://www.dafont.com/de/ http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b329/wond-gfx/1-8.jpg http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b329/wond-gfx/1-9.jpg http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b329/wond-gfx/1-10.jpg Add layer styles to the text. The bevel really isnt' necessary b/c the font is so skinny. Woohoo~!! You can also see my three pixel border tut to add a finishing touch.

How-to Make Two Different Abstract Sig Backgrounds
alis replied to Killtacular's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
I've seen that second effect again and again, but .. somehow yours looks different. I really like how you didn't just leave it at the 1000x100 square, like a lot of other tuts do. Cropping "fashionably" makes a huge difference. -
Ah, there's something more you could do to make it more squishy looking. In step ten when you do that gradient, instead of doing it in that rectangular selection, try using the elliptical marquee tool. That'll give it a little curve and make it look rounded. This is pretty small, but you get the picture:

Linksys Networking - Dead Xp Any hope of fixing? Get a new one?
alis replied to alis's topic in Computer Networks
I feel like such a noob. Here's the webpage for the "thing" : (link) And m^e, yes I do have dogs. However, they are restricted to the kitchen, and if they get out they usually go for the shoes. My dogs have a taste for fine leather shoes. Plus, I don't see any teeth marks. What do you mean by "massive electric surge"? jeroen: I'll try that too. -
((First post. ^^;;) Right, so I have two computers and they're linked with a Linksys Networking ..err.. thing. It worked fine for nearly a year, and then suddenly stopped. I know it's hooked up correctly because nobody touched the wires in between the time when it was working and when it wasn't. I've heard that that particular networking thing isn't the most reliable device and that I might be better off getting a whole new one, but...I wanted to get a little more information before going off and spending money.
