  1. Some set of people are already mad that, apparently, Liberty City "now" looks like NYC. Shocka!

I thought the buildings and landmarks looked familiar LOL...even the GetALife building :)
@Killer008r: From what I read so far, it's only available on the XBox 360 and PS3. I wouldn't be surprised if they expand it to include it on the Nintendo Wii in the near future

  2. Thanks for the tip Marky. I have no idea why they didn't do that in the first place. These guys pretty much know what they are doing, but I guess when the manager is on your "you know where", they just want it done quickly LOL.I will definitely play around with this and give this a try. I have the ghost boot diskette with me so that should be no problem.

  3. Hi sparkx, I think I know what you are referring to. You want it to print out all the user DATABASE related information right? I'm not very strong in the SQL area yet, but found a PHP file with the code that might be of some help if you are some what knowledgeable on SQL:

    http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

This script looks through the database and filters out the specified prefix. You should be able to modify it so it will filter by the database username James and display all the tables in a webpage.

  4. I have perused the gaming forums here once in a while and have seen some posts that just bother the heck out of me in the past. I see another one now that a member reported already and hesitating on taking action on it. I believe that we should keep it, but change it to a no credit count forum instead. The "fun" part is still here, so there should be no problem. Xisto is used mainly for information on technology (mostly computer related). Gaming should have a category of its own and I believe that Xisto is a good choice. This is not to offend anyone, but if you have problems keeping up with the computer related forums, I suggest going to Xisto. This has been mentioned more than once before in the forum by other members and maybe even some staff. Not only will you be earning credits more easier over there, but it will probably interest you more. With that said, I think it should stay as someone said before. As long as it pertains to more technical aspects instead of which game is favorite and listing your entire life time game collection, which I believe is a total waste of time and in a way I find it spamming...

  5. OK, everything is basically setup now. I'm just missing the case fan and a decent video card (which I placed an order for already ).

I have a picture of my side panel that shows that "funnel" shape to suck in the air from the outside (see attachment). Should I remove that funnel and replace it with a 80mm fan instead? It's mainly used to bring in air directly to the processor fan. As of now, my whole system inside is not receiving any ventilation whatsoever, so I'm not going to use it until I get the fans in place. I ordered two of the 120mm fans and want to mount one in the front and one in back. I have a question though. This is actually my first time installing a case fan for my PC. Mine didn't come with any other screws or anything. The 80mm case fan I got before came with these 4 screws though. My question is, do I just drill it through the plastic? Is there a place where I can buy those "rubber screws" instead and push them in or release them if I decide to change them?

I took a look at my front case where the 3.5" drives go into and see a slot for another 120mm fan. I assume this is best to be used for the intake of air right? One problem though. It's kind of close to the plastic of the front cover and I'm not sure how much air it will bring in. Not sure if this is poorly designed or it will work just fine as it is.

    Thanks.

  6. The techs in the office couldn't figure out why these programs can't copy the bootable CDs directly. They actually just copied the single .GHO file that was on the CD instead and burned it to a CD. Now it works, but the CDs are not bootable. No biggie...we just need to insert the Ghost 2003 CD we have and that will continue the process from there. They could make a backup of these images (bootable ones) for another Dell model laptop, but not this one. So if anyone has a solution to this, let me know. Otherwise, we'll just deal with an extra CD off hand to boot from it first. Thanks

  7. Did you point the Xisto DNS nameservers to your domain at that .info one you asked for? I assume you have that site up and running now right? You need to go to the registrar where you got this site and change it so it's pointing to Asta instead of your previous web host.

    Get the DNS information from:

    http://forums.xisto.com/topic/82622-topic/?findpost=1064294415

You should have already read that topic already since you were approved and that link was provided to you to follow on.

Your site will be at http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

  8. Welcome to Xisto. This is way too general. Better in terms of what? Security, stability, performance, etc.?I would have to go with Windows XP since I'm a Windows user for as long as I remember. I admit that it isn't the most secure Operating System out there but if you are a better than average computer user, you should know how to protect your computer from infections. The reason I didn't choose Windows Vista is because it's still new and I'm sure there will be bugs to be worked out, just like when XP first came out.I think each Operating System has their own strengths and weaknesses. Mac for most people are used more for graphical editing, although I still think the PC can compare with them. Linux is open source so basically there's always room for "creativity" and users can fix or recreate anything they don't like in it without having the Operating System programmers do it.

  9. We're using Norton Ghost 2003 in the office to create Windows images for the Dell laptops we have. One problem I encountered is trying to copy the CDs. I think the office used Nero, CloneCD and other major CD cloning/copying software, but none worked. Nero 7 gave a unreadable data error when we tried to copy it.The 2 CD set image is a good copy. We tried loading it into another similar Dell laptop and it worked without any errors. But now we need to duplicate these images for all the techs.Any idea on how to create extra copies of this image without having to do this through Ghost each time (takes approximately 30 minutes to create the image through external CD burner - laptop can only support either floppy or cd drive one at a time, thus the need for the external).Thanks.

  10. Just upload all the whole vBulletin package to the directory you want your forum to be in. For example, if you want your forum to be at yoursite.com/vB/,

you create a folder called vB and upload all the files into it. If you want to create a forum only site where your forum will be

yourforum.com/, just put all the files in the main public_html file.

  11. Ditto on the Paypal with Google Adsense...I wish they did have it though :ph34r:Chitika is definitely a way to go since it has similar advertising (clean looking ads) schemes to Google's Adsense from what I see. The first thing you will notice about their ads is they will be tabbed. So it's in a way a newer than other common ads you see around. Their payout with Paypal is $10 minimum.I don't recommend going with pay per impression unless you have lots of visitors to your site. You will get paid a very minimal amount compared to those that pay by the click. Even if not a lot of users click on your ads, the total will add up over time (much quicker than the pay per impression method).

  12. Just looked into it more this evening and found that the voltages are different. It might fry the logic board if an ATX power supply is used on the PowerMac.Well, I took a look at the machine and used the power supply tester (not sure if it's the same reading for Macs) and it showed no signs of power at all. I even unplugged all the unnecessary components inside and the power button light just powers on as long as I keep pushing it. The logic board looks ok, so I guess we'll have to start with the $100 power supply.

  13. I think 1GB or so for the swap partition should be sufficient in most cases. Since you have space to kill, I guess you can leave it at 2.5GB for it...won't hurt as far as I know.No need to install Windows first and then Ubuntu, unless you want to start from a clean state in Windows. Otherwise, just install Ubuntu and it should detect that you have Windows installed already and will create a boot loader so you can choose which one you want to boot from.A virtual machine like VMWare or Microsoft's Virtual PC can emulate Ubuntu or other Operating Systems to run in a "virtual state". You basically don't even need to worry about the partitioning or anything that complicated because it will run directly in Windows. Just make sure you have enough space in the Windows partition. Install one of the aforementioned programs and then run that program. It should be simple on how to install Ubuntu or other Linux distros from there. After that, you just need to login to Windows as usual and run that virtual machine program. Choose the operating system you want to run in the virtual state and you're in. The only setback in doing this is that it might be running slower than normal because remember, you are also running Windows there.

  14. I will be working on a G4 (I think) tower and the user is saying that the white power light is one when he pushes it but no other power seems to go through to the computer or monitor (no chime sound). He already replaced the 3.6 Volt battery on the logic board and also hit the reset button (CUDA).I haven't worked on these for a long time and have some questions:1. Can I test the power supply using a 20 pin power supply tester? I did some reading up on this tower and it seems that it will have 24 pins on the main power connector to the board (so 4 extra pins).2. Are the power supplies the same as the ATX model ones for the PC?I'm steering towards either the logic board or power supply, but hoping there was some way for me to test it first without shelling out a bunch of money for a part I don't need. Both of these cost over $100 when I just checked out the prices.Thanks.

  15. So this compression method is only available to the software vendors and not to the public? I have used UPX before and love it because it does have a big compression ratio for my program. If FEAD is available for public use, I would love to give it a test run.The link you posted is a dead link. Google has a cached page of it though. Just do a search for Netopsystems FEAD Optimizer in Google and a few links down, you will see "GPL violation in Netopsystems FEAD Optimizer/Recomposer used by ...". Instead of clicking on that link directly, click on the Cached link underneath it to read it.

  16. @turbopowerdmaxsteel: That's ok. I agree with you on the quality of the microphone. You don't need to get a top of the line microphone, but a decent one will not cost too much. Try going for a Sennheiser or maybe even a Logitech model. I would read some reviews (Google for them) on the model you wish to buy and see what other consumers have to say about them before buying one.

  17. Hi Dhanesh, the F: drive should be the line with /dev/sda7 (last one). I see in the previous image that you have a lot of data in there. Did you back up everything in there already? I highly recommend that you backup all your important files for ALL your drives nevertheless because when it comes to some major install like this, you never know what can go wrong.Select that last one and hit Forward. See if it will create that root and swap partition for you using that 4th partition you have there. If not, don't continue any further. Use a partitioning program to split up that partition into two smaller pieces for the root and swap partitions (whatever sizes you want...use the minimum at least).Ubuntu should have a boot loader (probably GRUB) once you finish installing it. It will allow you to select whether you want to boot up with Windows or Ubuntu the next time you restart the computer.

  18. This program is not freeware, so it should not be posted in this section...moved accordingly.

These programs as with others will require some time to train it properly. I never heard of this program before, but it should be better than the default Microsoft speech recognition software. For those interested, you might also want to take a look at Dragon Naturally Speaking:

    http://www.nuance.com/dragon/index.htm

Prices will be higher for this speech to text program.

@pyost: Just saw that YouTube video you posted on the Microsoft screw up....ROFLMAO.

  19. As of now, it sounds like the domain is removed by you already. You can still login using your home username and password right? You might have to get your system administrator at the company to put this laptop back on the domain. That should put that Domain field back when you start it up next time. Just make sure to select the local computer when you are at home (usually has "this compute" after the Workgroup name) and put it back to the domain when logging in from the company.
