I am often using grisoft avgfree antivirus. I was really thinking that Grisoft was the only official distributor of avg. You seem to say that I was wrong ?

Grisoft is the official distributor of AVG, but they have other lines of products now. They also offer the Anti-Spyware and Firewall protection programs now. The Anti-Spyware software is also free, but if you want the Firewall you will have to pay. AVG Professional Edition comes with this I think.

Yes, I will be getting the Intel Pentium D 940 3.2GHz processor along with 1GB of RAM to start off with until I actually get Windows Vista. I will probably be buying a PCI Express video card that supports the Aero interface as well.I'm sure Windows Vista is pretty stable at this point as you pointed out. They have released their beta versions and have undergone extensive testing as you mentioned, but I have yet to test any of them out myself yet. I just don't want to install it and find that something won't work with it later on (not just hardware wise, but also software).

I am sorry my answer is no for deterring spammers. I just introduce this form for your css and html design of the contact/recommend form. You can use this in your site for that purpose only. It looks cool and clear.
If you want to have something to prevent spammers, you need to use something like the security code to submit form. The good example you can see when you register an account in this forum.

@TavoxPeru: What browser are you using for this form? I tested out the width size like you mentioned earlier and found that this "bug" occurs in Internet Explorer, but it works perfectly in Mozilla Firefox (which we all should use over IE ).

For your second question regarding the color scheme, there might not be any way around it. You have to edit the images themselves from what I can see there. Look in the images folder and you should see all the blue color images in there. They will be creating a guide on how to create your own theme soon if you don't know how to:

You can basically customize the look of your forms any way you want by creating your own themes. Since Niceforms replaces the form elements with images, itâs just a matter of slicing these images up correctly and creating the CSS that holds them all together. More themes are on the way and youâre more than welcome to contribute as well. A short guide on how to properly create themes is in progress and should be available soon.

This problem is happening to my other laptop and the desktop. The printer I have here is connected via USB to my laptop.This is an HP 1018 LaserJet printer.

Was just going to say the same thing as faulty.lee With the newer processors these days, they seem to be the only ones that will run Vista decently. I personally think it's a great thing that they are making them faster because it will help out a lot of those users who need the extra processing speed (think about video editing and other programs that require fast processing without slowing down the whole machine).

I found the printer in the network and chose Connect. It asked me if I wanted to install the printer drivers. I clicked yes. Everything looks like it went through until I do the printing. Same thing happens...it's stuck in the print queue. I tried restarting the print job to no avail. It prints fine once I print directly on my computer.I want to try installing the drivers manually on the other computers if that makes any difference. But how to do I network them? I will be building a new computer soon and want to know if the motherboard really decides if Vista will work on my machine or not. I'm looking at a Intel 945GCLL Intel Socket 775 MicroATX Motherboard and from what I found, it only will support Vista Basic Edition. I have read that it's better to get Premium over the Basic Edition and I will probably do so in a few more months when Vista is out for a while (probably with lots of patches released by then). Will Premium Edition work if I install it?I don't see how the motherboard can be a really big issue here as I will look for a video card that supports the Aero user interface and also buy enough memory to support it.Thanks.

I remember back in the early 1990's that there was a program used for creating images based on graphing points (x, y axis I assume). I have searched high and low for this old program and was told it was called LOGO. I tried looking for it and found many varieties of it and none of them seem to be the one I recognized and used back then. I think the coding is similar to something like:

 

30 circle (10,20)

 

or something like that. I might have some old scrap paper of it in my closet. I will try to dig some up if I can find them.

 

Does anyone remember using this program before and is there a version that will work in Windows?

The Knoppix CD couldn't recognize the hard drive either ;)I found a solution to the issue. For those who have a PS2, they might know of a program called WinHiip. I used this program earlier already (before posting here at Xisto), but to no avail. For some reason, I got it to work today. It detected the hard drive and I chose the option to repair the directory since it seems to be corrupted somehow. I'm sure it's all well now in terms of copying it over to another hard drive. The program has an option to copy drive to drive.Many thanks for all the replies. Now back to my games

Is this form used to submit a question/comment to the author of a site? I have been looking for a replacement one for my site for a while now. I took mine down because I had many issues with spammers who had too much time on their hands.Will this form have some way of deterring spammers?

Hmm....one more question that's been bothering me. I know now that using these converters will not make them run at SATA speeds, but what speed will they be running in if I'm using it via the PCMCIA SATA card? I find it MUCH slower than my other hard drives which I use with a IDE to USB 2.0 adapter.

I agree that using other partitioning tools are more user friendly, but for the most part, I don't need all that GUI. Take the XP CD for example, I don't find much use for it and it takes more time to load than if I just do it using fdisk.

why would it destroy your windows partition?

I guess this is just one of those questions I never asked until recently when someone asked me the same thing regarding the linux partition. I was told in the past (more than a few years back) that fdisk was a destructive partitioning tool. I thought it was just referring to creating and deleting partitions in general, so I never fiddled much with it. I know not to touch the Windows partition of course...otherwise, I'm screwed LOL.

Just wanted clarification on that. I always steered clear of fdisk all these years fearing it might muck up Windows somehow.I was having issues creating a small partition (around 512MB of space) for DOS using Partition Magic on my job. The tech in the office told me to use fdisk...which I used reluctantly.

I would have to go with Simple Machines Forum hands down. I have been using it for years now and absolutely love it. Too time consuming to configure? I don't know where you got that from. It couldn't be easier especially if you are using cPanel. cPanel has Simple Machines ready to be installed in Fantastico.I would experiment with the ones you have and see which one suits you best. Nothing better than trying it out first hand.

This does seem possible. I read up on an article at AfterDawn that mentions a program called Paradox PS2 MP3 Player. Finding it is another problem though. I tried to look for it at the PSX Forum, but just found this:

I agree with what faulty.lee said. It's not hard at all to get hosting here. You just need to get started in the right foot to obtain the sufficient amount of credit to qualify for a hosting package. After that is where the hard part comes in...maintaining your hosting account.

If you are a regular computer user, this shouldn't be an issue for you. I don't see why you would need another image editing program if you have The GIMP already. If you don't want to spend money for another program, The GIMP is probably the best one of them out there. It will need some getting use, but once you know where things are, it should be simple to use. From what I found, it supports many types of files already (editing and saving wise):

Like FirefoxRocks mentioned earlier, some of these will be feature limited. In this case, this one is free but has limitations.

The tool was created mainly for those who don't want to insert their CDs every time they want to play a game or run some application. This is definitely a big plus for those who go through lots of CDs. Be very careful when you do the installation. If I remember correctly it will have the option to install their WhenU adware search toolbar checked by default. I hated Daemon Tools for this very reason. Any programs that "bundle" these adware/spyware features into their programs go into my blacklist...basically no exceptions. I don't care if they give you an option to install it or not, but that's just opinion. I'm sure they still have lots of users who support them.

I recommend using programs that have no catch in them. If you are using Windows XP (or maybe even Windows 2000), you can install the free virtual CDROM feature for it at:

I remember doing this before in the past with a DOS partition. It wasn't working properly, so the office tech told me to use fdisk and delete that DOS partition. Then recreate it. To my surprise Windows still worked after that. I always thought that fdisk would corrupt the Windows partition somehow since it was a destructive partitioning tool. So I have always used Partition Magic instead for my partitioning needs.If I install Linux on a separate partition and decide to get rid of it later using fdisk, Windows will still be intact right?From my understanding now, I guess fdisk only will "break" Windows if the partition is merged into the existing Windows partition ;)Thanks.

I'm sure someone will do this for free if you provide the link to that script. I'm not any expert in perl or cgi scripting but have dealt with them before and usually can get them to work eventually

OK, Paragon didn't work either. It sees the hard drive as with all the other programs I tested with, but all it sees is unallocated data.Shouldn't the Ghost bootdisk be able to copy this "unallocated" data over to my other blank hard drive? I assume not since none of these are seeing it properly.
