when u got wireless... its very scalable... for my case... i live with my friend... and sometimes my schoolmates come to my house... a wireless network allow my schoolmates and my friend to get connected to each other in no time... and all of us are able to surf online... ya... the speed may not be as fast as wired... but its still very fast... 11 mbps for wireless b of mine... and if u get g... its 54mbps... thats hell lot... and thats enough for alot of stuff... i never felt lag using wireless even though i am having b... if u are doing home networking... i can say it may cost abit more... but not as much... and nowadays it come with bundle... which make it even cheaper... best of all... its wire free... i hate all those tangled up wires... if u wan maximize security... get a router as it can restrict access from people who did not have permission from u by setting up a list of mac addresses that are able to access the network... router are password protected... and u can encrypt your data too... its make hackers almost impossible to hack your computer thru this kinda security implementation... the world is changing... u can trust wireless right now...

if u are still facing the problems... here is some of my guess... you are infected with virus/spybot/worms/etc... do a throughout virus/spybot/worms/etc scan... some recommanded software to do these are as follow... http://www.mcafee.com/us/downloads/free-tools/stinger.aspx http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ if after all these it still not working, maybe is your setting of your connection problem... (In IE > Tools > Internet Options > Connections Tab) check your LAN settings... try to enable and disable automatically detect setting till it works... if its not working... make sure u are at the correct proxy server... (if u have/need one) disable it else disable it... try mess around with the setting... but please remember down the original setting... make sure u change back to the original setting if everything u do doesn't works... if u are in a network or there's someone who do all these dirty stuff for the computer... den ask him to do this... if the problem still exist... my last suggestion is try remove ie and den reinstall back... make sure u have windows xp cd when doing this... go to add and remove program... at the left content bar... click add and remove component... disable ie and click apply... after that... enable ie and click apply again... insert cd if necessary... restart if necessary and try using ie again... if its still not working... bring it to an expert and ask him to help u fix... or reinstall or format your windows... but if u doesn't wan to do this... den use firefox or netscape for alternative...

I think when u search for hosting... u gotta ask yourself some questions... for me... i ask myself this...What technologies i'm going to implement inside my website (PHP? ASP? JSP? JavaScript? Flash? etc)What do my users who surf my site want/do? (reading on specific information, entertainment, downloading softwares, etc)Approximately how many users surf my website? (10,20,100,200,1k per day?)Are they pass-byer or real surfer? (pass-byer mean they take a glance at ur site and move on and real surfer stay on your site and really read your content...)i have somemore but i can't tot of it nw... when the answer is a mix of both, take the majority... anyway... this can help u focus on what u need thus find a host that best suit u... u dun always need a supercomputer with unlimited banwidth and 100 gb of free space to host for u right? example like a clan website with only 10 members and when the site information is little dun need such a host right... or a forum site which requires mysql and php and u go apply for a host that support asp... it would be a waste of time and money... so i recommand u guys always think through carefully before u actually go and and find a host...

I got 2 x 20Gb harddisks which makes my total hard disk space to 40Gb... its very pathetic to me... i dun think its enough... thinking of changing... nowaday u can get 100Gb with 7200rpm at abt 100++ SGD... thats cheap... i dunno abt others places... but i think nw is the right time to change hardware...

This is one of the hotest topic ever happen in the gaming world... where gamers are most concern abt... which graphics card is better? my opinion is ATI... cuz i heard too much good stuff abt them and when i saw a game requirement that say... GeForce 3 and Above (Excluding GeForce 4 MX)... Which make me gone crazy and seriously wanted to change my graphics card... how can i get a later version of graphic card but i can't work on some games that the it previous version can... i'm currently abit lag out in the chase of graphics cards... i am considering of upgrading to one of the best on the market so tat it last as long as it could... not like that GeForce 4 MX card i'm having nw... so... ATI or Nvdia? considering their best product now on the market and in near future...

i'm with intel becuz at least when ur heatsink get faulty ur proccessor don't... if u are going for speed... den go for amd... nowadays cooling devices for proccessor come in all kind of shapes and sizes... water cooling... air-con... bulky metal pieces... etc etc... i not a hardware expert but i think these can really cool the proccessor by a huge lot... base on their looks

i have a wireless b connection at my home... i am using a router which will restrict access from device with mac address not listed in my router... so no 1 can actually accesing my network without my permession... i can tell u... once u have a wireless network... u will never wanna turn back! its simply rocks... though i dunno how to setup/use WEP... but i dun have any valuable information to get steal by my neighbour... also, i dun think my neighbour is any smart den me when it comes to computer...

for ur case... i think you would best like to set up a network asap and dun get bother by those network stuffs... depending on how many computer u are gonna set up... for network consist of 2 computers... just get a RJ45 cross cable... make sure u get cross cable... if more den 2 computer... i recommand hub... dun get a router or switch... i dun think its practical for your situation... anyway... get a hubs with enough ports for your computers... get a RJ45 straight cable for each computer... den connect them to the hub... oh yeah... make sure u got nic card for each computer... go to ur network connection page... and click set up a home or small office network... make one computer host... and others all clients... read properly and go thru the procedures... ur LAN will be setup within minutes... http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ for more info... u can also search google on setting up home network in windows xp...

bit torrent... i got 280+ kpbs of speed b4 using it... the fastest i get from any p2p software... but also the most unstable... cuz once u start downloading... u better make sure u dun stop... or your whole download may get spoil (very small chance but i did met b4 these situations...) or no more seeds out there to send to u... a life span of a file in the bit torrent is very short... so gotta get it fast... was thinking of using emule somewhere in near future...

wad if u connect to a proxy thru a proxy? would it make u more anonymous? or harder to detect? just wondering...

i agree... firefox was cool... but i hate waiting... firefox take longer to load den ie... and i wasn't happy that some site didn't display as i expected... i used for 2 weeks i change back to ie... not that firefox is not good... its excellent... but just tat i prefer speed... i dun store important stuff in my computer... i do format every few month... so having to keep installing firefox and setting it up would be a burden to me... so i dropped it... i will wait till it become better and try it again... but anyway... i still recommand people to install firefox... if they ask me which browser to choose from...
