this is the biggest evidence/reason y some people hate windows... lolz... but anyway... windows for me... performance wise... u think some1 will suffer if he/she got a overclocked 4+/5+GHz proccessor (see here http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/... or else i take 3.6ghz...), a 512mb(or possible 1024mb? dunno have it or nt...) ati radeon x800 graphic card and 4GB (4 ram slots each with 1gb of ram) of ram to work on... running in windows xp? though G5 2.5Ghz does perfrom much better den a Pentium 4 3.0Ghz... but when u deal with this kind of hardware... i dun think u will feel anything... not even a sec of problem at all... but apple macintosh is a much more powerful den ibm pc... tats tested and proven... here's a comparison of their performance... http://barefeats.com/pentium4.html but 6GHz is way too insane! though not stable...

basically... its an upgrade... xp definitely is better den 2000... visually... functionality... and security wise... thats their only different i guess... visually for example... xp got that beautiful blue-ish new theme for desktop compare to the previous dull grayish one... functionality i'm not too sure... maybe support for multi-users or a better version of iis? or a new implementation of a lousy firewall... or the ability to group same applications together in taskbar when it get filled... security wise they have improve alot... due to wad have been happening in the past... if u ask me to recommand 1 of the os... of cuz i would recommand xp... pro or home ed... still the same answer...edit: oh yeah... stability too... xp don't crash... (at least in my pass experience i never meant b4) definitely more stable den windows 2000

i dun agree... cuz u can haf your browser on... pointed to the page u are working on... and your notepad working on the file too... whenever u need to check your work... save your file... and refresh the browser... but i bet u mean visual designing... just like vb... i agree on that... that really make doing webpage more efficient den before... especially when u are messing around with lots of tables... codes are simply to confusing compare to the visual aids...

i find sound card a waste of money... unless u have really sensative ears or are a electronic musician... u can't really hear the different... i remember when i was abt 7+ years back when i got crazy over sound card... i bought one soundblaster something (forgot the model) and was pretty proud of it... i compare my friends' sound with mine... though its never sound any different to me... i always say mine sounds better... but its till the later stage that i notice what type of sound card really doesn't matter... so i stop all the sound card craze... but anyway... having a great sound card is better den a lousier one...

i helped u search the net but i found little answer... so i when through a little thinking and come with a theory... since u are a game server... so u will be accepting incoming connection from a port... u will be interacting with your client using this port... so if u put a program in this port... which will check the ip address of each incoming packet... den decide whether to allow or block... but for small server... this work fine... for big 1... for example like 1000 connections at any single time... i dun think it would be practical... i dunno if there is such a software existed (maybe firewall have... and there is a something call ip filter) but if u do know a degree of networking programming in anykind of programming language it is achievable... maybe u need to do some kinda proxy in your own computer to achieve this... after all i believe 2 programs can't have access to 1 port... 1 for the checking purpose... the other for recieving packet forward thru by the checking program u make... i don't know much abt networking programming in any language... so i can't make it for u... but i know this is achievable... maybe some good networking programmers out there can help u...

i explain in my pervious few posts in the forum why i stay with ie... i compile my reasons here for why i stay with ie and not moving to firefox... i'm not a supporter of microsoft... i study java and stick with it becuz i don't want to tied to microsoft... but i won't say something not good if its good... i try to be fair when it comes to these things...first of all... ie is faster den firefox... ya of cuz ie is part of the windows so if ie have problems windows likely also have the problems... but u can't say firefox have none... somewhere in the code they do have... why microsoft have more of these problems is partly becuz its popularity, the amount of people using it and the amount of people who hate it... when they exploits these holes... it is pretty bad... for us users... but look at it now... its have really improve alot... its not as vunerable as b4... no security issue doesn't mean no problems... to me... no security issue mean there is holes which are no fix... tats like a living time bomb in your com... basically, all browser is the same... i must agree windows does have higher danger... but as these danger emerge... they continue to fix these problems and slowly... right now... its seems that everything is stablized... and the browser looks more secure den b4... i noe this gdi+ thing can be problematic... but windows have come out with patch for it already... as long as u patch your com... u shldn't have a problem...second of all, sp2 is really a big improvement to windows xp... it comes with pop up block... lets the users noe more abt wads happening... and more initiutive and user-friendly... tons and tons of advantage in sp2 that i myself haven try all but have been impress with wad i seen... previously while i was using wireless... repairing the network, searching the network, checking the network status is such an annoying things... its seems that its connected but the truth is its not... your computer are not assigned an ip address... to know this... u gotta double click the connection and click support tab... and u must have the least knowledge in these field to actually noe that no ip address is assigned to your network... to add a connect to a network... u gotta click configure and den click ok... den u will be connected to a network... sometimes this doesn't work... which really make u so angry... u gotta do it manually... den came the repairing... it just show repairing... and if it fail... it just say fail... no reason at all were given to u... this make me so fustrated... after upgrading to sp2... i got a more user-friendly and intiutive wireless program in windows which make conencting to wireless so easy... this is just one part of the improvement... the other improvement is in the browser... there is a ads/script/plugin block activated for u automatically... u can choose to close it if u want... but anyway... this ads/script/plugin block so user-friendly that having it on or off make no big differences... u rather have it on... becuz its doesn't bother u... whats many these kinda block have in common is that when a popup is block... u doesn't notice... and sometimes... u does want this to happen... becuz not every popup is annoying and it maybe important... sp2 doesn't have this problem... whenever something is block a thin bar appear above your page... telling u wad is happening in short meaningfully sentence... not just a icon or a simple add to the number of popup block which doesn't contribute to anything... if u wan the popup to be enable... u can click it and select some of the options that appear... other den that... u can just ignore it and u won't be bothered... its beautifully tot of and done that i really love sp2 ie...i know sp2 ie can't compare to firefox in some features... like spyware free and tab browsing... to me... tab browsing can be cool but sometimes i can be not... its cool when it began to organizes your browser content... but its is not is when u forgotten where your site lies in which browser... i prefer alt tab... and i do that alot... fo tab browsing aren't very useful to me... so this show its always something every1 need... but its an excellent additional feature so u must give them credit... while for spyware free... i must admit windows have not done that... which is very crucial in todays internet... if they can implement this den i would say ie is almost perfect... but the current ie to me is more den enough... i need...i also format my computer frequently... having to install and setup firefox everytime i format is also very troublesome... so i rather stay with ie... both browser have their advantage and disadvantage... they are par in this... but since i'm using windows (this is when all the hates come in) and my habit... i will continue use ie... unless one day i change os...

actually after changing to windows xp sp2... i notice it came with ads block... whenever it block ads, an bar appear above the page... if u need the popup... simply click the bar and a popup menu come out with additional options that correspond to the what happening... if its a popup, it came out with options that respond to popup situation like temporary allow popup or permenantly allow the popup... refresh for u and the popup appeared... if its scripts that may endanger your pc... i automatically block for u but also appear the bar to let u temporary allow the scripts or permenantly allow the scripts... something like tat... same goes to download... its very intiutive and i like these feature... while for others browsers... when something get block... u need several clicks and go into the setting page to allow popup... not so for sp2 ie... i love every part of sp2 ie becuz its really a good improvement to sp1 or windows xp... not just only ie... but the only worries is the performance problem i heard which may cause if u use ram with 256mb and below... which put me in a situation on whether or not to upgrade my pc to sp2... and 1 more worries is the lack of spyware block in sp2 ie which mozilla firefox have... if sp2 have it... it would be perfect... ya it does lack tab browsing which is very useful... but i'm not really concern abt it becuz last time i use to use tab browser and i keep forgeting which browser the website i need is at... it take several alt tab to find my page... which is aren't very friendly for me... to me having it in your task bar is better... becuz of my frequent use of alt tab... but tab browsing does group/organizing your browsing better... but not every1 make full use of it... and not every1 need it... sp2 really make windows xp very clear, intiutive, easy to use and user friendly... to me... tats everything... and i guess that to alot of people out there... i prefer sp2 ie compare to mozilla firefox in these area... security wise... its still mozilla firefox...

i dun really get u... but if u can't get it in by searching the temporary internet files... try the first method... some download manager are DAP, flashget, etc... these can be found in download.com... if you wan, i can help u get it out... if u still want to find it in your hard disk... here are some of my guess y u couldn't find it... you either access the wrong user's temporary internet files... (c drive > documents and settings > [your current username of your computer... u can check your username by seeing [username]'s document folder which should lies in your my computer... the [username] is your current user...] > Local Settings > Temporary Internet Files)... or u have clear your temporary internet files... (if u have delete your history... try reloading the site)... maybe ur folder can't see the extension... the system just show u the description of the extension... for swf file... its type description is Flash movie... anyway... don't search by type first... search by letter... for example... intro.swf would be store in your temporary internet files as the same name... view the folder in detail view... order it by file name... go to the "i" (first letter of the name... for our situation... first letter of intro.swf is "i") section and find intro... once u saw it... make sure its .swf or type is Flash movie... this shld be the file...

okay... i think u only save the html file of the flash site... in order to save the flash u want... u need to get the swf... to get this swf file there are 2 ways... go to the source of the site [View > Source in menubar of the top of ie] den search for swf inside the source... once u find one... it shld be the flash u wanted... copy the whole site [e.g. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/] here's the 2 way to retrieve it... the first way is to have a download manager and copy and paste the site to the download manager to download... the second way is to go to your c drive > documents and settings > [your current username of your computer...] > Local Settings > Temporary Internet Files and search for the swf file... [not the whole site... eg. intro.swf] once u find it... copy and paste to a place u want it to be... tadaa... u got the flash u wanted... i can't guarantee you that the above action would not cause u any kind of trouble... cuz taking others work without permission from owner and place in at your site as if its yours is consider plagarism and the owner can actually take serious action on you if he want... i urge u to get permission from the owner or at the very least... give them the credit they deserve... unless u have the permission from the owner... i still can't guarantee you that by giving credit to the owner u wun get any kind of trouble... but there are lotsa site where they give great free intro flash for u to put at your website... one of the site i can remember now is http://www.flashkit.com/ this is one of the best among all those...
