well, the idea of using pcie lies in the possibility to have several pcie slots.remember those old voodoocards that used 2 pci slots.imagine them doing that with two pcie slots...
-
well, you should be able to log in to uni.cc or something and add the two nameservers:ns1.astahost.comand ns2.astahost.com.one will do, two is for backup reasonsthen go to your cpanel of Xisto and do a 'add domain' in the site administration part and add the domain.wait half a day or so and it should be working...

frames are slow and not always supported. that's why they suck hehe.the javascript will remove top banners added by your hosting if that's what you want. or if you' page is opened through hotmail or something alike

that's not really a fair test. if you use 4 tabs, you should also use 4 ie's.however, i do agree that, when using multiple tabs, ff gets heavy.but i love the tabs!

Two Cpu? How Come? I have only one the 3 ghz Intel P4
marijnnn replied to softcris's topic in Websites and Web Designing
yup yup, that's right. hyperthreading! supercool. instead of dividing your tasks and processes in the software layer, p4 with HT does it in the hardware layer, so it is even faster and less heavy to go mulitasking!!!so don't worry and don't go all happy cause they didn't make a mistake at the shop and give you two processors for the price of one, i'm sorry hehe -
How Do You Validate Email Addresses? Looking for the best method
marijnnn replied to iGuest's topic in Programming
you can send them a link to validate their address...you put the emailaddress in your db in a table that has two fields: the address and a boolean value, default 0 and send them a link like:yourhost.com/validate?mail=theiremailand they you just put the boolean on 1 for the reg expression, can't really think of anything better than the one you haveoh yeah, by the way, tnx for the linux boot thingy: i inserted my 1st cd, entered repair on boot and i was given the option to repair my bootloader! hurray! tnx mate -
hey guys, a connection of 2Mb means 2 megaBIT!!!! not megaBYTEand as 1 byte = 8 bit, you should divide your speed by 8: 2000000bit/s = 250 000byte/s = 250kbyte /swhich is just what you get
-
well, i do'n't think it is. but mostly, your browser has a timout set. and as upload speed is pretty slow most of the times, you'll harldy get to 2mb if you upload a file
-
well, you could close your antivirus & firewall as they do slow down the traffic as you mentioned. but then there's no use in having them.the tweak will work when surfing sites that load slow and have lots of picturesclosing all downloadprograms like bittorrent, kazaa, emule, soulseek,... will also speed up your surfingusing download managers or accelerators will not speed up your surfing, as they don't do the html pages. they will however speed up the downloading of mp3 files you want to download. at least, if you download them with the downloadmanagerso if you want to download a 100MB file, it will help. what a download manager does is acting as if x people are downloading the file. most servers only allow a certain speed /client, let's say 100kB/s. if you're downloadmanager splits the file up in 10 pieces and starts downloading them at the same time, the server will allow 10*100kB = 1MB!!!in reality, it won't go that fast, but it will go faster!hurray!

haha, i knew someone would be interested. i'll look it up when i get home :Pjust one thing: really don't take too much of it!!! really!

when i was sick, i had to take this medication. it's some kind of powder. you do it in hot water and drink it up. the doctor assured me it wasn't antibiotics. and it wasn't! instead of feeling weak i felt super. so i checked out the manual, which said sportsmen shouldn't take it because they might sign positive when tested for dope :|grrrreat!so now, i take it when i'm supertired. not very healthy i guess, but i only take it about twice a year, so i don't think that's gonna kill me, hehe.first solutions: going out in the cold, take a run, coca cola and a good shower in icy cold water.

ow diego, this isn't really a good place to learn english hehe.and harry potter... i' m looking forward to the movies that will apear in about 5 years, when hermoine has grown up a little and has become a foxy lady. i don't care about the rest of those *BLEEP* wizzards.

oh, but you're right. must have overlooked it the last time, but now i see it: they have a sperate program that can edit pdf files. when i saw the 995, i remembered installing it, but that was their pdf printer. tnx for the link. more programs welcome though! gonna test it now, hope it's any good.
-
it's one of those printer thingies: it installs a virtual printer on your pc. and if you print using that printer, you don't get a paper print-out, but a pdf file...
-
well, there are new movie (new camera's higher resolution,...) standards that are too hires to fit on a dvd, so the quality of the image will be even better than with the current dvd's. also, it'll be cool for taking backups in companies. no more rewritable tapes, just discs...also, instead of buying the box with all seasons of 'friends', you could just buy one of those new discs then
-
hehe, indeed.+ cd's are getting old. if one had posted this 3 years ago it would be cool.the workings of those blue-ray dvd's, dual layer stuff and the new ones that will be able to hold up to about 90gigabyte, that would be interesting :Por how about those paper dvd's? storing 4gb on a piece of paper. crazy? you bet!

Net Speed Registry Tweak For Win Xp, Or Win2k
marijnnn replied to psychologist's topic in Websites and Web Designing
i think nobody can. except for one thing: new things are always frightening. people think they'll have to learn a lot of new stuff to be able to use firefox, while actually, it works almost the same as ie -
you can hardly call it a tutorial. it's just an explanation of why you can put mpeg video's of about 800mb on a disk that says it can only contain 700mb...a tutorial would be when you explain how it can be done using nero, which is quite easy: just choose: make new super video cd (svcd) and then copy the mpeg to the folder that is named mpeg or something like that.it works because it uses less error correcting bits so more bits are available for information. however, i wouldn't advise using mode2 when it itsn't necessary: cd's are very fragile and often have errors, so there's a reason for all those error bits

well, not exactly.what i'm trying is to make it look as if i have a floppy driveyou see, linux won't accept anything but a floppy do make a boot disk, and i need that boot disk.so what i'm trying to obtain is that, when i put my thumb drive to my computer, my computer thinks that there's a floppy drive. but actually, there is only a partition on my thumb drive of about 1.44mb that acts as if it were a floppy drive.i don't know if it's possible though...

hello alli'm looking for a free pdf editor. it's for a company, so don't start about downloading warez please. acrobat's creator is not an option.and don't mention the pdf-printers, you know, the virtual printers that print your docs to a pdf file.what i need is an editor that can open pdf files, edit them and then save & close the file again.the more different ones i have, the more choice i have! so throw them at me hehetnx in advance!
-
ah, now we're on the same frequency. that's it. but i found that one already. i'm looking for results of more db systems, more benchmarks,...tnx!!
-
yeah well, i could benchmark it myself, but i'd need more dbsystemswhat i want to see is graphs, numbers about the access time & datatransfer rate of mssql, mysql, postgresql, freedb, access databases,...
-
haha, that's insane. i got a gmail account and quite happy with the pop access , so i'll stick to that for the moment. web interface is great too.

can anybody help me here. i'm designing a website + some applications for a company, all using the same database. now i'm looking for the best database, if possible a free one, no licenses and stuff. but other ones can be taken into account as well. so if you have tried it out yourself or know a site that has some reliable results, help me out.
