p0e35: MUD stands for multi-user dungeons; it's an online text-based game and most of them are free and open to the public (you can get a listing at http://www.mudconnect.com/). practically all of the MUDs out there are based on themes like medieval, modern, space, or based on movies/tv serieses like LOTR, star wars, avp, etc. helix: wow that sounds tough for an intro programming class...? darn :/ what sort of casual games do you make? one of the sites for MUD developers that ranks high on my list is mudmagic.com. a lot of codebase and game design discussion goes on there. you might even be able to get ideas there for your game even if it's not a MUD.

hehehe i should have put fat (food fat, not file allocation table) in the topic. saturated fats are found butter, chocolate, cheese, egg yolk, the fat in meat, coconut oil, palm oil and palm kernel oil. polyunsaturated fats are found in almonds, walnuts, pecans, flax, fish, soybean oil, sunflower oil and safflower oil. monounsaturated fats are found in peanuts, pecans, cashews, natural peanut butter, avocados, olives and olive oil. essential fatty acids (omega 3 and omega 6) are found in all monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. eric straven: i wasn't actually sure if it was ok, but i didn't have anything else to post in the "what is" forum that i'd consider educational and beneficial. jcguy: i'm from asia, and i lift in the gym three times a week and do cardio 3-5 times a week, at least 30 minutes each time. yeah you are fortunate having high metabolism lol, unless you're trying to bulk. kraizii88z: i agree about what you said about sugar. people are guzzling cans of soda and fruit juice not really knowing how much sugar and how many calories they actually contain. i remember a report in the newspapers saying that people eat as much as they do whether they have water or soda. yup olive oil contains tons of good fat. if you're watching your calorie intake though, be careful. 1 gram of fat = 9 calories, compared to the 4 calories 1 gram of protein or carbs contain. kraizii88z

under the processes tab, you might see names of programs which you don't want running, e.g. Apache goes under "apache.exe" there. or you usually can guess which processes are linked to which programs, e.g. Perfect Disk Scheduler goes under "PDScheduler.exe" there.if you're unsure, you can do a search using the name of the process and there'll probably be results leading to people asking the same question about the process in discussion forums.

i think you can actually get windows to uninstall messenger if you go to control panel, add/remove programs, add/remove windows components and look for messenger in the list. (winxp users)

HTML vs graphic+hotspots?
dissipate replied to suicide1405241470's topic in Websites and Web Designing
i agree with overture. while i was studying abroad, i had to go on a 56k dialup plan and it was horrendously slow compared to my ADSL connection at home. to make things faster, i turned off all images in my browser, meaning i'd see only text when i surfed and not images.if you can't bear to part with your all images idea though, how about placing two links on the index page, one to the all images site and the other to a text site? -
I'm curious to know if anyone here does games programming or planning, any sort. I'm currently involved in some game design and coding for MUDs and I think it'd be neat to discuss and share ideas here.

Fats are not all bad and unhealthy. There are good fats and bad fats. Having good fats can increate your strength, energy, fat burning, muscle-building hormones, improve insulin function, skin and strengthen your joints. Having bad fats can increase your cholesterol, fat storage and clog your arteries. There are three types of fatty acids - saturated, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids.Saturated fats raise cholesterol and are harmful to us. They do not have essential fatty acids which we need.Monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats actually lower blood cholesterol levels and contain essential fatty acids which are healthy. The two essential fatty acids we require are Omega 6 and Omega 3.

A calorie is the amount of energy required to raise the temperature of a gram of water by 1 degree celcius. With regards to fat loss, theoretically, calories in > calories out = fat gaincalories out > calories in = fat lossIn English, if you consume more calories that you require in a day, it turns into fat. If you create a caloric deficit by consuming less calories than you require, fat is lost.

i think if you want to use forms easy and not have to get your hands deep and dirty with cgi and setting things up, you can try using free cgi form services on the net, e.g. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ http://www.response-o-matic.com/ http://www.freedback.com/?ff/smi_fam

Java was taught first in school and I learnt C about three years later. I reckon it was quite tough switching from Java to C and it'd have been better if I learnt C first then Java. Was discussing this with a couple of my friends at that time and those that had learnt Java before C agreed. Would like to know your opinions about this.

sadly, i love programming and code for games for free. but i don't want a programming job heh. how contradictory is that.

same here. and agreed. i think i prefer designing and creating my own websites. sometimes CMSs make things more complicated than they need to be. and yeah, MT is excellent! the installation part was a hefty bit to get through for me, mostly because the installation instructions weren't written well. but that was MT 3.0, maybe 3.1 has changed.

hehe i think you have to work on your page ranking then

it's fast and i haven't got even 1 piece of spam in my box yet. i like the "conversation" functionality - how they display all emails sent to and received from each person.

Service Pack 2 of Windows XP Talk about the sp2 of WinXp
dissipate replied to xelloss's topic in Websites and Web Designing
i have had SP2 installed for a couple of weeks now and no problems with it. i think it's pretty neat that MS hands out and delivers SP2 CDs for free, especially since i don't want to re-download it each time i re-format my computer. -
i studied IT at university and i'm actually choosing not to take up programming jobs because i don't want to sit at a desk and stare at the computer the whole day, and it takes a lot of effort to keep updated and upgraded due to the continuous advances in the IT world.

i used editplus to edit HTML. it's fast, easy, small and colour-coded.
