  1. xevian: is there some sort of protective transparent sticker you can buy to stick on your ipod screen? like protective covers for the palm?
  2. rofl. i don't know what software it is but i've been using trillian and it tells me whether someone has closed the window or not without special software.
  3. arkumarhg: where did you hear that from? i had never had that problem till that day when i was in the middle of sending out an email. my internet connection was fine as i was surfing other sites throughout the gmail hiccup and i don't use a firewall. plus other friends around the world had the same problem heh. yeah i guess it happens... beta... i was just pretty surprised that it happened at all because gmail is like.. the standard of excellence if you know what i mean. google has always been one of the best services around on the internet.
  4. the first ever hosting account i signed up for was an angelfire account and i used their EZ Builder tool to create a website, but wanted my own image to be up instead of their cheesy angelfire logo. it required me to enter some HTML for that and i didn't know anything about it so i started reading up all i could about it - tutorials on other websites, by example and through the use of WYSIWYGs.
  5. gmail has been working fine for me except for the last two hours when i was typing an important email and tried to send it. i kept getting a popup box saying, "Oops...the system was unable to perform your operation. Please try again in a few seconds." or kept getting redirected to a 502 Server Error page sayingGoogleErrorServer ErrorThe server encountered a temporary error and could not complete your request. Please try again in 30 seconds.arhghghghg! how can this be?! what on earth is wrong with gmail? and excellent timing.. when i have other important emails to send as well before tomorrow morning!!! one of my friends said he's been having problems with gmail the whole day and i was wondering whether anyone else here is having problems. maybe they ran out of space or something... lol.
  6. we've all heard of people selling their everquest characters or some MMORPG items for a whole lot of real life money on ebay. have any of you ever sold your characters or items on ebay for money? would you attempt to do that?for me, i think i would once i got sick of the game as it's time invested and if i didn't want to play anymore, i wouldn't skip the possibility of selling the character i spent so much real life time on building up plus the items i worked hard to get for real life money.

yeah i agree about the difficulty in training chars esp magic users like sorcerors. though they get rich fast lol. some of my mad friends create sorceror chars and spend IRL days camping by the river making backpacks of magic missiles. soon enough they have more than enough gold to buy almost the best equipment for their knight alts!i do find the difference between p2p and play for free too big as well.... though it's tough to make a point out of it as they cipsoft created it and they can do whatever they want eh.
  8. beautiful pictures of the sunset at koh phangan! do you have any other pictures? and where else in thailand have you been to?
  9. i have a 70gig maxtor and 14gig seagate. 40gig on my laptop. my computer is very old and i wish i could upgrade it.. as well as my laptop
  10. my friends like maxtor quite a lot so when i needed to get a new harddisk drive with loads more space, i decided to get a maxtor even though it was more expensive than usuals like seagate. well guess what....... after taking one whole day to transfer all my data to the maxtor and then formatting the other harddisk drives, i was enjoying the additional space and suddenly it died.PSU was working fine so it couldn't have been power. i hooked up the 3rd harddisk drive and it worked fine. i tried hooked up the maxtor to my sister's computer and it was still dead. no heat or vibrations coming from it.maxtor's customer service was so disgusting awful - i sent an online customer service ticket and received no response from them for a week so my father brought the harddisk drive to maxtor's office for me. they replaced it with a new one but refused to revive the dead harddisk for me and said that they'd have to charge about $500 if i wanted them to retrieve my data from it. as you can guess, i was absolutely annoyed at losing about 5 years' worth of data and important work files.
  11. according to a few LCD monitor sites i just checked out, isopropyl alcohol is fine for using to clean your LCD screen though how much did you actually use?a 50/50 isopropyl alcohol and water mixture is recommended by many as an LCD cleaner.dell suggests wiping your LCD screen gently with a soft dry cloth first; if any marks remain, moisten the cloth with an LCD cleaner and gently stroke the cloth across the display in one direction moving from the top of the display to the bottom.for cloths, you can use microfiber cloths like those people use to clean their eyeglasses.hope this helps!
  12. it looks pretty from the screenshot in one of the earlier posts though i won't be downloading it as my windows xp is set up to "classic" because i like navigating around a plain and simple style.
  13. thanks for writing this informative article. one of the problems i usually have is charges as i'm not sure how much to charge, like how much and per hour? or per page? how much more for non-static pages? stuff like that.also, do you have any suggestions on how to get jobs? like if you have your own business website up with samples and rates etc and no one is biting, how do you search for jobs to do?
  14. hey i just checked out fr33space.com and i think free-webhosts.com is better in the sense that it ranks the webhosts and arranges them according to how many votes they have from people, and it states whether forum posting is required or whether not all sites are accepted etc. people also get to leave comments which are what i like to read when i choose webhosts.
  15. if people want to do full flash sites, i'd personally recommend giving users an option of viewing the full flash site or going to a html site instead. like avalon said, flash has its downsides and people do use older computers sometimes that make flash a pain to view, whereas practically anyone on any computer can view html pages.usually when i'm relaxed and am casually browing, i don't mind full flash pages. however when i'm feeling grumpy or i'm rushing to just get simple information, i *hate* flash sites as it slows me down. sometimes i close the window before viewing the site even. that's how frustrating flash sites can get.
  16. hashbang: ooo first D&D. darn i should go dig up all my stuff and see if there're any old toys lying around that could be worth some :Phey dune was cool! it wasn't weird!! lol. the most recent dune is dune 2000 if i remember right. try it!10mins no rush lol. oh boy my friend ALWAYS had to rush me in 10-15 mins. ugh. i'm happily building my buildings and expanding and SUDDENLY two armies of tanks come and destroy everything! arhghghgh!!!
  17. i use ad-aware se together with spyware blaster and they're awesome tools... i haven't had much spyware coming up on my adaware scans ever since.
  18. i've heard a lot of good things about godaddy.com and enom.com so although i haven't used them before, i'd go with them if i ever had to register a domain name one day.
  19. lol i have a ton of invites too. whenever i use invites, they automatically get replenished the next day and go back to 50.
  20. i agree, trekkie. i think everyone's so competitive that they don't want to correlate findings lol. lots of my friends have ditched hotmail for yahoo or gmail because hotmail is rubbish at filtering spam.
  21. i reckon good free hosting is very hard to come by these days. i mean, even free hosting is not really free hosting as you're required to post in forums in exchange for space and bandwidth eh.free-webhosts.com is also the site i go to all the time to look for suitable hosting and i found Xisto through it.
  22. check out gamedev.net as well. there are a whole lot of great articles on programming, graphics, software, game development, and even an faq section for beginners where common questions on how to start have been answered. be sure to take a look at their forums as well. hope this helps!
  23. i think searching for a meaning to life is very common among people as they want to know if there is a purpose for life, a purpose for their lives. why was i born? what happened before i was born? am i supposed to do anything while i'm alive? what is the purpose of my life? why do i have to die? what happens after i die?for me it'd be terrible and depressing if life was just part of nature - you get born, you grow, you reproduce, you die. animals accept that.. or rather they probably lack the intellectual capacity to question it.has anyone read rick warren's "purpose driven life"?
  24. one way to expose yourself to suitable colour combinations that established companies and people use on the internet is to surf around and keep an eye out for popular sites. you can be sure one of the reasons why they're popular is because of the colour combination they use - pleasant and comfortable to the eye and not at all jarring or blinding.take note of the colour combinations they use and you'll soon be familiar with colours that can be put together to enhance your site and colours that will turn people away from your site.
  25. so far i've always received spam when using hotmail even though i've never subscribed to mailing lists or published my hotmail address anywhere. with yahoo i only started receiving spam after joining a yahoo groups mailing list. gmail is the best so far, i haven't received a single piece of spam since opening an email account with them five months ago.i have my suspicions that hotmail releases our email addresses to third-parties....
