Someone said that you needed to install linux on a seperate server...This is not needed at all!You can very easilly setup a server that supports Apache, MySql, and PHP. (PHPTriad) One program, install it and get all 3--THen you would have to make it so that your computer runs only the minimum processes (Hence faster)I used my laptop, which is (Pentium M 1.86MHz 1GB Ram) But, large php + mysql commands, sometimes, took a long time to execute. So, Hard Drive speed (rpm) is almost as important as the CPU!Before you go through the trouble of all of the work, make sure that your rpm is more then 5200. 5200 is normal I think--Faster ones 7200. I saw in server specs, one that used a 10k one.

Video Card Need help with a video card
Sirius replied to SpartacusUSTASA's topic in Hardware Workshop
I have a Ati Radeon x300 128mb I think it's pretty good--Can play Battlefield 2 on medium great. And I'm on a laptop so I like the card much.I'm pretty sure that AGP is a better interface. I think Pci-Express cards are usually cheaper cards.I would suggest http://www.newegg.com/ I didn't buy my card from them, but they have almost all of the cards that one would think of buying, plus with alot of information about them (The reason why i used it to compare) You can also buy new cards or old ones. Both prices are cheap. If you're looking for a good card, buy a Nvidia or Ati. Both are pretty good, Nvidia is usually used more. Though, Ati is still good.Good Luck -
Area 51 In Google Earth do you know the coordonates
Sirius replied to adriantc's topic in The Internet
For one reason or another, I seriously doubt that the army base uses the radar jammer used in Command and Conquer :PI think that they just manually blackened out the "forbidden" places, or shot the place in really low quality...Of course, I think it might also be possible for the army base to send a signal, directly on top of it's geographically equivilent to the place where all the satellites orbit, and then maybe some special satellites aren't allowed to get into that area, or else they would be logged or something...But, I mean... I do think that for the people that can do damage using this information, they can probably use their own satellites or even use a totally different way of spying to learn all of this info much easier, and in much better quality...Russia? -
Mail Server Setting up mail server in linux
Sirius replied to acumentech's topic in Operating Systems
I'd suggest to download the newest version of "PHP Triad" Which has all html, php, mysql, everything you could possibly want in one package. :PThen you must get a domain to point to your Ip address, though, I'm not sure what to use as the nameserver...?Hope this gets you started!! -
Area 51 In Google Earth do you know the coordonates
Sirius replied to adriantc's topic in The Internet
I get a totally different place when I search for "37.24, -115.816" in google earth...? Maybe I did the search wrong? Possible... http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ What I saw... -
You gotta use a Mac Os X to say that "I've used a Mac" The one's at schools are .... Well something like 9.x which is really old...BUT I've had a 12 inch iBook for a year which was Mac OS X and that was pretty good...It also looked much much prettier then my Dell laptop so that makes a difference

Hey...I have a Dell Inspiron 6000, just got in kinda new...It's:Intel Pentium M 1.86GHz1 GB Ram70GB HD only ~5200rpm :DAti Radeon X300 128MBI got it for about a total of $1600. Used a coupon from couponmountain.com (Great Dell coupons btw...) and a Dell sale. I got it with 512MB ram first and then added the 512MB which saved me about $100 and is probably almost the same performance because the 2 ram chips are exactly the same... If you're gonna get Ram, buy it later on, not while customizing your laptop...I think Dell is okay but I still do think they're expensive w/o using sale + coupon. You could get a Asus laptop which I hear are pretty good and cheap... I'd say rather then getting a good laptop for alot of $$, get one with little Ram, then add it later on...btw--If you're planning on getting a laptop with a Pentium 4 processor, and if you're a guy don't put it on your lap Penitum 4 gets really hot... AND my Pentium M 1.86GHz is the equivelence of about a Pentium 4 2.8. w/o the heat :PGood Luck!!

Ten years?! I'd say 7 :PI was thinking, about a day ago, that my laptop's screen was great because it was like the best choice and really thin...But then I had put my small "earphones" on the keyboard and put down the lid...Then I sortta accidently almost sat on it :DThen you can very very very very slightly see a little black area (two of them) on teh screen. So much for the greatness of LCD :PBut I think they're slowly dissapearing?!? Maybe the crystals inside of it are kind of moving around and distributing the very slight black part around or something?! In fact I'm almost sure that's the caseSo now I think LCD's are amazing too (Bit off topic now that i think about it btw...)

Actually...The speed of the data transfers for the IPod are as fast as can be using USB... It's about 1.5mbps to an IPod. Thats how much I get on my external HDD...So transfering stuff to the IPod shouldn't be a problem...I think it would be pretty cool to have an IPod that shows movies/videos...But I wouldn't really use that future I think. Plus it would use a lot of battery. The IPod's battery life now isn't that good so...That much be a disadvantage

I used to think that Greenday was fine, didn't listen to it on my mp3 player or anything but when I heard it I'd think "This isn't too bad". But then some chinese kid at our school played Green Day on his cell phone, which had speakers and then when I listened to it it was really bad If I was to compare the "Emo/Punk" groups....Green day's nothing compared to Blink 182--Blink182 all the way!!

I have Dreamweaver Mx 2004 And I can't seem to do anything with it? The only good thing that it does for me is it counts the lines, so I can look where the error is, if the number is too high :lol:Other then that I just seem to spend too much time looking for options rather then just writing the code in notepad....

Well actually...Fiber Optic networks are "Light speed networks" because they use the light for all transmitions...Of course you have the very slight lag when it transforms data into light beeps and transforms it back again, but that's barely anything. Whenever I ping someone on my network (Fiber Optic) I get back "0" ping. I'd think there's an error. But there's an error there because it's really fast And...According to my book in physics class, which we just read like a week ago...You can transmit 500mbps on one fiber opic chord. Which does beat those blue 100mbps ethernet cables The only disadvantage...Is that you need a transformer that turns all of the light into data. Maybe in the future you can just plug in a fiber optic cable, and that process would be done inside of your computer? So it's all light speed until it reaches your computer...Because they usually just put like a transformer for one neighborhood (Or big apartment or something, for me) So you have to share it....Plus you have the lag where it get's transmitted "normally" from the transmitter to you. Anyway...

Heya!Ehh actually I've been planning to start learning to graph graphics.... I downloaded The Adobe 7.0.1 Trial but then I left that alone because it was a trial...So I downloaded the gimp which I also downloaded a tutorial but I haven't glanced at it...Oh well maybe in the future, it's all there! I just need to learn it... Anyways--Welcome to the Xisto Forums!!

Also...I read before that you were supposed to put copied tutorials in quotes and such.So you dont get credits for someone else's words...They punish for that so... I'd change it before they catch you and this way you won't lose anything by the punishing. Quick Quick!

Dell Inspiron 6000Intel Pentium M 1.86GHz (Centrino)1GB RAM128MB Ati Radeon x300 Video Card80gb HDWidescreen 15" or something close to that extentI think it's pretty good for a laptop... :)Maybe the only thing I might have wanted more would be the CPU but another upgrade to 2GHz would cost about $250 so I forgot about that Anyway Its Pentium M so my 1.86GHz comes out to about a Pentium 4 2.7GHz...

You Should Download Google Earth google earth is a program
Sirius replied to student7's topic in The Internet
And if you're interested... https://www.google.com/moon/ You can zoom into the moon Actually...A week or two ago I heard people talking on the news about google earth. The president (Prime minister?) of Russia was complaining saying that theives used google earth because it was really good. And if you do go to Moscow, which I think is a city taken the best pictures of...You can see that it's much better..Like Hi Def Anyway...The quality depends much on the area...And I think that if the area is taken in black and white then it has better quality, overall...? -
Ya pretty good tutorial...But for the new people that are gonna try it...Ya gotta be careful because if you tweak it too much then it would probably get too warm (If it has rpm) then it would be damaged... Just a post for people thinking that if I put a few more mhz to the reccomended settings above nothing bad would happen... Careful!

lol I guess it would be possible...Except that there are a lot of broadcasting done on radio signals, with different channels so I guess if the Ufo didn't like one station (s)he could click the big red "Next Station" button?

How Do U Make Your Own Subdomain Service
Sirius replied to phoenixhosting's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Possibly...But if you do then that would tie you to that host... If there is one I haven't heard of it.If you create the script yourself you can easilly edit it, change hosts, and able to move the data around much easier without being tied to a service of a host...But I really don't think that there would be a good host because they would be more expensive...Well if you can't find it then you really can't think of which one to choose (What im doing) -
Maybe...We can actually buy bandwith using credits as money?...Just a suggestion!

Oooo. Now, I just have to wait a bit more, (I think) for page loads, but when it loads, it's all loaded :)A question...Would this also affect download speeds? If it does, I wouldn't need to use cheap, free download managers
