  1. well mine is pretty similar to a few before me. I use my computer for lots of my school work (research, essays, blah blah blah). also for browsing the internet, checking out sites, posting in some forums. photoshop and dreamweaver for learning how to and then building my site. then also for other entertainment like music, games, and sometimes a movie. must have been really different when computers were not around
  2. Well I'm really not into spying (honest), So I really don't think this ones is form also at $138.95 I could get a excelent camera, which I wouldn't lose and would just as easily manage the spying job (youi just have to know where to hide it). But I suppose this is something which is designed more as a proof of concept than as something which is going to be used by a large number of people. It also has obvious uses in portable devices (due to its size, the price doesn't help). Well anyway while I don't perasonally see the need for making things smaller in general, (I tend to prefer big things) i'm sure there are a few people who could put this to (immoral) uses (hey I bet you thought it too)
  3. I remember doing an experiment in our physics lesson one that involved testing the radioactivity of different radioactive isotopes with a giga counter. Well after we finished a few of use stayed behind (nerdy I know) and played with the giga counter a bit. We tried different things and didn't get much of a reponse. Then we put a mobile phone next to it, that was on standby and it affected the giga counter readings quite a lot. After that we got someone to call the phone and the giga counter went crazy. We had some stupidly high reading after just a few seconds of it ringing. It was a lot more than what we got with the isotopes. So I'm not surprised if mobile phones give your tumours and cancers etc because they do emit a lot of radiation which is just seeping into our heads as we talk. And using hands free kits isn't any better, especially if the phone is in our pocket because then we're just roasting our crotch. And have you ever noticed how if you talk on a mobile phone for a long time your head startsto feel a bit warm after a while? Well that's that radiation at work slowly cooking you from the inside.
  4. I kind of don't think this is a good idea. Discs can start to lose data because of old age. Also its hard to keep a disc clean and not scratched up. You will eventually drop the disc and get scratches on your hundred dollar disc and won't be able to read some of your data or the disc may skip while playing music on your pc.Also if your wanting to transfer files to another persons computer, most people on this world are probably to poor to invest in something like that so they can read your files. Also in reply to the message saying that 300gb is not enough storage in the future, 300gb would probably last long enough for your wholoe life, think about it, world of warcraft is a very large game and its about 3 gb large. So you could fit world of warcraft onto this disc 100 times. They had the right idea but I would not trust putting all my precious data onto one disc and hoping it doesn't mess up.
  5. It is just a fashion statment. They appeared out of nowhere and suddenly everyone was getting one. Apple knew they were onto a winner and splashed out on marketing and designer newer versions. And all those accessories. There's so much junk you can get for them these days like furry carry cases or sock cases or some sort of camera converter. My god you have a screen on nearly all digi cams anyway that's about the same size as the ipods screen. Why do you need this tool?I'm not going to go for it. I admit they are pretty good but there are equally as good and some better portable media players out there.Personally I went for a minidisc player. I don't know why, I just prefer them.
  6. Why would you want an overpriced piece of fashion when you can get something just as good, if not better, for a cheaper price?
  7. I've decided to leave the Xisto community because I don't have the time to post much anymore and so my hosting always gets put on hold. Also these forums are becoming very full so it's hard to post a reply or new topic that hasn't already been done.Xisto is a good host and definately worth it if you can keep your post count up although the 20megs can get filled up pretty quickly if you want to host an online gallery. I know there are specialist sites that do that but I wanted to make my own.I wish Xisto and all it's members, both old and new, good luck with their websites and I hope the posting doesn't come to a stop. I've learnt some intersting things while browsing these forums, and also some completely useless but funn things (exactly what the internet was made for.)I'm also posting this to get some creds back so I can log onto my website and download my gallery so I can move it to my new host instead of starting for scratch again.Good bye and have fun.

    Been Expelled

Also there is the fact that most schools usually block outside computers (PCs and laptops not owned by the school) from accessing the network. This includes students and teachers alike so maybe you found a way round that or exploited a weakness in there security. If you did then you deserved what you got and should take it like a grown up and not come crying to the forums and posting half truths.

    Traffic

The reason traffic slows down during rush hour is because most of the junctions are backed up with all those cars trying to get somewhere or there's been an accident on a motorway which is causing the traffic. It's not like there is a front row of cars who suddenly decide lets all drive really slowly and stop now and again because it's rush hour.
  10. If life was that bad wouldn't he try to commit suicide already? And maybe if he did get a glimpse of how life could be he would try and make it happen. It depends on the person and their mentality things. VR isn't really that real looking and can be quite bulky to make it a form of mainstream enterainment although the few I have tried are pretty cool but it still has quite a long way to go before everyone will consider and use it as a form of entertainment. Although there are other uses for it. Like the military training their pilots and tank drivers. And maybe in the future they can simulate a full on war for training. In fact why stop there. Why not have all our wars virtually. That way no one can die, places won't be destroyed and war probably wouldn't be considered a bad thing to do. Although with the lack of deaths a sudden increase with the worlds population would occur and we'd end up depleteing the planet of it's food and other resources. But anyway. Another way I've seen virtual reality used is to help cure patients. One way was giving a burn patient VR to take his mind of the pain when the doctors have to peel of the burnt skin every few days. Another was helping a phobia patient overcome their fear. I think the case I read about had arachnophobia and they put on a VR headset so he could move towards a virtual spider and they had a fuzzy fake spider in front of him so when they touch the the virtual spider they feel something in real life.
  11. Not really something for the Technology part of the forums, more Gaming part.
  12. Switch your computer off and go outside. I know how distracting a computer is. I usually sit and play games when I should be studying or doing an assignment. Worse still is that most of our stuff is put up on the internet for us to download and work from so we have to use a computer. Although when it does get boring I can easily walk away from it and go hang out with my friends, cook a meal or go training You just have to learn to off the PC and walk away from it, like any other addiction.
  13. Hehe brilliant. Yeah there were some bits that looked stiff, not just Lisa. And parts where the actions were out of sync but still was pretty cool. And freaky. And the skateboard stunt off the roof of the car that kids did was pretty amazing. Considering he must be about 10.

  15. So can the same results be gotten from a dual processor motherboard with 2 P4 chips?
  16. I thought these things were legal as they do say, in very small print, in the terms and conditions that they will dial a premium number and will charge you x amount per minute. If they are illegal then I'm sure people would report them and they would be shut down and made to pay a fine which would help the government more than those who got scammed. Next time just don't download these diallers.
  17. I use Avast to stop things like viruses, spyware and adware from being installed on my PC. It's just a virus scanner but it seems to be the best one I've used so far and it's free. It might help prevent any of that rubbish from installing on your system and Spybot SD is good for getting rid of them.
  18. Useful bit of information this. I knew one of them caused burn in but wasn't sure which. I'll try and remember this for the future when I get a TV of my very own.
  19. I've always noticed that manga is usually more detailed storywise whereas the anime has had some sections cut or changed to fit with the editing and so they are a certain length for television showing, usually 25mins. Like the Helsing series. The manga explains a bit more about the characters backgrounds and more of the story is explained wheras in the anime bits were cut out that make it a bit confusing as to what is going on, like how did the Helsing organisation come manage to take control over Alucard? Although tbh I'm not sure if they say why in the manga as I haven't read much of it yet.Although not all anime series start off as anime. I've read some Cowboy Bebop and noticed none are really linked to the anime series or film.Personally I enjoy anime more because I get to sit down and watch it with my girlfriend or friends and I'm not really a reading person.
  20. If it's a really long thread, like this one, then I only read the original and maybe a few posts at the end before I post. Although I do try and stay away from long threads because what I want to say has already been said. Unless the topic really interests me.
  21. It could be just used by companies and not the public, like Arigato said. Or it could be what amhso said about the 30gigs being shared and not dedicated to each person. Although I wouldn't be surprised if research centres with loads of supercomputers needed a 30gig line to pass information around. I think one of the worlds powerful supercomputers is in Japan, simulating Earth's climate or something along those lines. All that information being produced and recorded must need a nice fat line to pass through, although I guess 30gigs is a bit excessive.
  22. There are lots of interesting pints being raised.I'm sure in the future this technology will become cheaper. Just like hwo CD wrtiting and the DVD writing hardware and software started off expensive when it first came out but now can easily be picked up for less than ?100.It's true that CDs scratch easily and do tend to snap but I'm sure that with discs with that much capacity they will develop a way of protecting them, or have discs made from a new substance that isn't prone to scratching or breaking under light pressures. And I'm sure in the future we'll need all the capacity we can get. I remember when hard-drives were 5gigs and software would only take up about 200megs - 500megs. Now a single game could fill that whole hard drive up and still would need more space. True it only seems to be games that require so much space and with the new generation of graphics, audio technology and physics the amount of game data is only going to increase. Although I guess 300Gb is a bit overkill but I'm sure sometime in the future that about of space will seem like nothing.Although these things could probably be used for security. Having one disc to store all the security camera recordings for a day would make it easier to store than say 200 DVDs of recordings. Or making they can be used to store recordings from those satelites that are scanning space for extraterrestial signals or storing data produced by super computers. Whatever the case is I doubt these things will be put into public for a decade or more but they probably are useful to big companies who need to store large amounts of data quicklyh and easily.
  23. Doesn't the military already have those unmanned spy planes. I think they are called UAVs. Not sure if thay are in use, although if they were I doubt the military would be making a big deal about it.
  24. But if that happened then something else that is more expensive and rare will take it's place and the cycle would just start again. The only reason diamonds are on rings is because they are a rare gem. If they became as common as sand then I doubt your missus would enjoy carrying a lump of cheap rock around on her finger so you'd have to splash on a pure gold ring or some other priceless stone.
  25. Love is just another way for companies to make money by convincing people they have to buy things. A bit like Valentines Day or Christmas. I'm sure most of you know that true love isn't something that can be bought or displayed with an object but for some reason a lot of humans out there think that getting their loved ones a really expensive present will show that they love them. Maybe the person recieving the present only feels loved after they have gotten something. It's sad our world is so materialistic these days. I still think it's great to give and recieve presents but when these presents are being used to try and prove feelings to each other because an advert said it will then it's really sad.Although some could say that not getting married, even if it's just getting the license is a sign that you don't want to commit. If something goes wrong then you want the easy way out with no strings attached.
