Installing A New Disk Drive on a Toshiba Satellite Laptop
believer replied to illdevilinc's topic in Hardware Workshop
I would suggest check first if the hard drive is really configured and properly connected on your conversion kit. To do this find another system, any computer or notebook and check in there if the drive will work fine, if yes then it is now the time for you to check the Toshiba laptop that you have but if the hard drive is still not detected on another system then just focus on this, could be some incompatibility on hard drive and converter or just some incorrect connections. -
Since Intel dropped them for good RAMBUS was not really able to get back on it's feet. I used RAMBUS based system before, though they really run at a higher speed the difference with DDR or DDR2 is negligible on most applications. And then there's the price factor, RAMBUS is expensive and you need the hassle of putting those terminator modules in case you just bought a pair.

300 Gb Discs (like Normal Cd's) Storage
believer replied to keysmaker's topic in Science and Technology
well we can really never say that it is a lot, maybe a few years from now 300GB will not be enough - remember when Bill Gates was quoted that 640Kb is enough for everyboy - not sure if this is true though, see where that 64Kb will go now. -
Cpus With 5-ghz Clock Speeds On Their Way
believer replied to rogeruk's topic in Science and Technology
well in the way that we are seeing updates now I will not be surprised if this will be available even next month lol, since 1 GHz has been broken, CPU FSB went nuts and go as far as they can, so bring them up and see how it will perform, i'd love to have them but for free lol -
Have You Heard Computers Sing? Text to speech... or Text to song?
believer replied to Dooga's topic in Science and Technology
now computers can sing by themselves lol, pretty astonishing, I have used text to speech and sometimes they are really that usefull but for me there's still a lot of room for improvement, we'll see in the future updates an what's in store for us. -
Google Web Accelerator Speed up the web
believer replied to sharpz's topic in Science and Technology
Nice catch there, thanks for that, I will certainly try this and see if it will at least contribute to the speed of my connection. Google is really venturing in as much technology as they can so watch out Bill Gates, theyre really a threat now. -
I can say it has not changed my life yet but it currently is leading me to another career. It is the book by Robert Kiyosaki - Rich Dad, Poor Dad.

Cloning Technology new life creating progress
believer replied to DeveloperX's topic in Science and Technology
having watched the tv show Surface gives me this idea that cloning is really not that humane. I am a Catholic so still believe in the natural way of creative lives and that is by procreation. Still I would certainly respect other peoples stand on this. -
certainly this is an awesome processor to have, with more instructions can be performed at the same time it will blow up almost all current application. However I think the speed will diminish in the long run. Applications will be upgraded to make use of the processing power of these CPU.But for now we really can enjoy this processor, of course the cost is the tradeoff.

Recommend Lcd Monitors purchasing brand name?
believer replied to oazisklub's topic in Science and Technology
If it's monitors, I would highly recommend Viewsonic monitors, this is their main product and has actually been pretty good basing from my own experience.About Samsung, they do really look good but the quality is not that I am very fond of, three of my friends have this LCD monitor and guess what, all of them failed with just almost six months in use, it may be coincidence but that turned me away from that model. Hope this is not all the case for all Samsung though. -
Wow!! this is one way way cool display, I love it, but I think we're still a long way for this but the concept is really great

300 Gb Discs (like Normal Cd's) Storage
believer replied to keysmaker's topic in Science and Technology
being fairly new product in the market this will understandably be expensive, what's good here is that we are seeing the finish product already which means in the near future once more and more manufacturer embraces this technology this will become cheaper and cheaper which in the long run will be good for all the consumers. -
yes and actually they already have systems available in the market bearing their products

believer replied to xavierrd's topic in Hardware Workshop
can you share more information on what chips are available and for what applications normally they are being used? I do love to build things like this and am interested on what you have said, more info would be nice, thanks. -
oh yeah this is possible and have been done already, this is an example of the finish product, the pc is based on aopen mini pc, the link is in chinese but there's a lot of pictures on the setup so there should be no problem checking and understanding on how this was done, the card is honda accord. http://www.mobile01.com/forum.php look at those touch screens, extension mini lcds at the back, GPS guide, isn't that sweet? now just remember dont browse and drive lol!

Pc Turn On For A Second And Then Turn Off With Beeps
believer replied to mirageforce's topic in Hardware Workshop
siren sounds most of the time is not listed on those beep codes generated by bios, I am looking at a possibility that your motherboard's BIOS is corrupted or there's something wrong with one of your major components, one way to check would be removing all components on the motherboard leaving it bare, now locate the CMOS jumper then reset it, install only the basic components now which is the CPU, memory, and the video card, power on and see if you can get it to display. It would be best to have the manual of the board on your side when doing this, if unsure and don't know how to start doing this then it would be best to ask assistance from a knowledgeable technician, goodluck! -
you have two options and sorry to say that both of these requires you to buy some hardware or cable. One is the hub, connect both the desktop system and notebook, then use the Networking wizard on XP and you should be all set.Next is the crossover cable that someone have mentioned, if you don't know how to do this just buy one from your computer store they should have that available.Either of the two will give you what you need.

I sometimes use torrent and I'm not sure if that's P2P type, nonetheless most of the files available are copyrighted too so, careful downloading should always be done. As for the viruses, after my download I usually run a scan first before opening it and of course I have my trusted Spybot for those nasty spywares. first time that I heard this peer guardian software, can you provide some personal review on this, how certain are you that it really can protect? I know there's no full protection on peer to peer but I am also looking for something like this that can be used, hope you can give some personal insights, thanks.

I previously had creative 5.1 as well as ALtec Lansing's 5.1 too and unfortunately for me the creative easily broke, it cannot handle the bass that my audigy was giving, not sure if this is a quality issue or I just got a lemon, my frined also had this same problem and because of that I stayed away from creative speakers. I am now a fan of Altec Lansing and I have used three types already 2.1, 4.1 and the 5.1, all of them gives me crisp and clear sound, just perfect on what I need.

from the looks of it yes this seems a very cool invention but try to imagine about most people in the street using this, how many accidents will happen, by merely walking you can concentrate because you are in the middle of a very interesting movie, what more if you are driving. If this comes out then I think it will only be allowed indoors and it should be but with that why will you still need these things if you have a home theater system waiting for you.

Type Without Buttons Ultra sensitive lasers
believer replied to illdevilinc's topic in Science and Technology
basing from your description, this could be a good replacement of our current keyboard now, care to share any link for that to give us more information about this? Though I'm not sure if this is available now or already in development, I am actually looking for the time to come that we will not be needing any keyboard, I mean, the system will automatically input the needed words once we said it, this would be better way than having a keyboard. This might not be too far to become available.
