  1. Here's a good tool you can use without installing any software. It runs directly from your browser and it's packed with some good features. It's called Photo Online Editor and can be found HERE You mentioned low disk space? Well this should suit your needs because it requires no installation. Or did you mean the final file size of the image? Either way it's a great tool. And it's free!
  2. I always use the default Skin/Theme for any program. In my opinion, it's a distraction and sometimes uses too many resources. It's better to keep your defaults or have the minimal.Just don't get me wrong, there are several themes/skins for programs that look very professional and are strongly built. These I would try and then uninstall.
  3. Seems that most of the users who replied through the poll are using Firefox as I do.I believe that it's far superior than Internet Explorer and has alot of potential because it's open source.Whenever I do an operating system install on any computer, Firefox is the choice of browser that I'll include.I've seen that the beta of Internet Explorer is out, I'll have to give it a test run before I can justify my use of Firefox in front of it.
  4. I'm not a big fan of Apple computers but the Mac Book is the only one that I've come across that is pretty quiet. Almost silent.I have a Netbook when I'm travelling, that's also quiet. Well most of them are good for bird watching!
  5. Five years, that's a long time. Forums should be designed ins such a way that it should be user friendly. If it took five years, I would say that it's not worth the time. It only shows you that the administrators are not thinking of what's best for the users. I like the way this forum is structured, but hate the way I have to log in every hour or so. Maybe it's a setting here on my end
  6. I like the subtle blue, it's inviting. Darker colors will make things difficult for most users, In My Opinion. A general color scheme needs to be used. Brown then Blue... that won't work out too much. Blue and a lighter blue, like on the forums is okay to me...
  7. It's not that hard to assemble a computer. The problem is that you'll need to be patient. Not just throwing each part into a case.Assembling a computer from scratch is always a good way to save money. The other plus is that you have the choice of which component best suits your need.Newegg, as mentioned before, is a good place to start. But you have to remember which operating system you will be using. It'll be pointless to use the maximum ram that a mainboard can support and run it under a 32bit operating system. The limit is around 3gb. Best to go 64bit and utilize all of the memory slots. Also, it's better to get a good high end video card. You may change your mind later and want to go into gaming and video editing.
  8. I believe that all of the brands are good. It's all about how you care them. But I seriously dislike those with the removable covers. They get lost so easily.Kingston is a great brand, I have about five of them and none of them ever failed. One even fell in water and still works after a good drying. While shopping for a new drive the other day I came across the Patriot Xporter XT Boost 16GB Flash Drive. from the reviews it sounds like a good deal and is about under $30 bucks. It's driver less and can go up to 180x read speed. And that's a deal for the price in my opinion!
  9. A Face Research website published a photo overlay of what the average woman looks like. This was done by overlaying several photos of women to come to what is thought to be the average look of women from the different countries. I personally think that this is not accurate. But I'll leave it up to you. I believe they took the prettiest women and did the overlay. Here's the image:
  10. I use CorelDRAW for Vector and Photoshop for raster. You can't compare them because they have different functions.I decided to go Photoshop instead of the raster program that comes with CorelDRAW Graphics Suite (Photo-PAINT) because of the availability of resources and ease of use. Photoshop is light years ahead of Photo-PAINT.And CorelDRAW is far more convenient to use than Illustrator.I believe a combination of both will be best for any workflow.
  11. I'm a bit confused here. Normally you just add /administrator to the end of the address. It should look like this: http://ww38.yoursite.com/administrator here you will be prompted to enter your username (in most cases: admin) and your password. If all the information is correct you should be able to access the backend of your site.
  12. My Opinion... IT'S A WASTE OF MONEY!Going Apple seems to be a trend nowadays. But why shell out hard earned Money when you can custom build your own system that's just as good for half the price? And talk about applications, there is no real need to buy software when you can run Windows and use some of the thousands of free ones out there. And talk about repairs, parts are more expensive. I had an issue here at work where we needed to replace some RAM modules. They are about 5 times more expensive and regular RAM won't work in them because of the ECC feature and recommended heatsink.
  13. I agree with rpgsearcherz, Rockettheme seems to be the best choice. You mentioned professional look, then I suppose that you mean you are actually willing to pay for a theme. I've been using Rockettheme for some time now and I'm not dissapointed. Love the Gantry System. You can customize the entire site from top to bottom. Also, I've never had a problem with their extensions. Their site is http://www.rockettheme.com/
  14. I've tried XAMPP and disliked it. I think it's much easier to use WAMP. The only problem I've seen is with the PHP settings that can be changed with one click.
  15. Well written. The main reason why people start smoking is because they want to look cool. I see no other reasons for someone to start. I read that nicotine is 10 times more addictive than heroine and 100 times more than cocaine. Don't know if that's true, never tried them. What the governments should do is impose a stricter tax system on selling cigarettes, that's the only way I think I'll stop. I'm doing some research on these cigarette replacements and it doesn't look promising. Better off taking chantix or something similar. Here, in my country, they are planning to implement a law that cigarette manufacturers/packagers include an image on the package that shows what happens when you smoke... you know the images with the lungs, mouth, etc.
  16. If you need a free way that won't really affect how your document is structured I suggest that you download and use GIMP 2.6. It an Open Source Application and has some really useful features and best of all, IT'S FREE. You can read more on their website: Gimp.org There also plugins available for it so you can customize it to your needs and wants.
  17. This is a very good read. I had to take a break and continue. Thanks for the information. I will try to post quality content whenever possible. As a new member of this forum I find it interesting and at the same time dissapointed. I see that some users are actually copying content from anotehr website and posting it here just to earn "myCents".Unfortunately, I haven't earned anything up to now. But will continue to post and enjoy the meaningful topics from other users. Thanks again.
  18. This is the funniest thing I've read this morning. But honestly, you need to get that dust out. The more dust in your case means more heat. More heat means that your computer will not run as it should and will eventually damage the components. The best way is to use a can of compressed air and get it out. Me personally, I would disassemble everything and give it a thorough cleaning. But in your case you need some sort of mask on and do it in a well ventilated area... or do it outdoors. Do not use the garden hose... I repeat do not use the garden hose...lol.
  19. I'll have to try that someday. We had a company that distributed Fanta here but i think they closed... or not that popular anymore. My favourite drink is Beer. I take a few every afternoon after work and sometimes if i'm in the mood a few Guinness. On social events, I drink what the bar has to offer. Most of the time it'll be a few shots of Black Label or some Tequila. Won't overdo it with the tequila though... can't remember what happens after a few rounds.
  20. Open Source Operating systems will never die but won't be any use for an average user. With the giants like Microsoft and Apple, it is hard and will continue to hinder the development and popularity of Open Source Operating Systems. Now, when you speak about Open Source Software, that is a whole new ball game. I use Joomla which is the best CMS there is. There are alot of other programs that people use that can do almost the same work as the Paid Software out there. One example is Firefox which is the best darn Browser I've ever come across. On that note, it comes down to the user and his preference...Open Source Operating NO, Open Source Software YES.
  21. Sounds like a problem with your power management settings. You should try different plans. From your "Control Panel", go to "Power Options" and select a Different Power Plan. Some options can be set to turn off you hard disk and ALSO an option for POWER BUTTON AND LID. Change them and try again. The option for Power Button Lid may have been modified. See Below:
  22. I tried going to that site but it's not working. Are you sure it's the correct address? What's it about? Sounds like a gothic type website, don't really like those kinda sites.
  23. I don't have a single favourite, it's a tie between Facebook.com (Yes, I'm an addict) and Geekologie.com (A great blog and it always amuses me.) For forums I'm an active member on CorelDRAW.com. It's one of the best forums I've ever come across. You guys should have a look at geekologie though... always interesting.
  24. I read that drinking beer is good for your health, well in moderation. But my answers are as follows. How many beers are you drinking a day? Not to sound like an alcoholic, but it's normally about ten to twelve. How much cost one beer? The brand I drink is about USD$2.00 What is your favorite beer ? Definitely a Local Beer called Banks Beer, I've tried everything else but that's the best to me. I like Guinness also, but it's only good when it's cold.
  25. The Big Bang theory has to be my favourite at this time. How I met your mother is another good one but when it on I'm at work.I really dislike the Crime Scene Genre, I don't know why but it's not my thing.I also watch a Japanese Manga called "Bleach", it's awesome and about the adventures of a Soul Reaper (Something like a Grim Reaper) and the battle between good and evil.
